A Douglas Hayward grey herringbone three-piece morning suit made for Sir Roger Moore in A View To A Kill1985Identical to the suit worn by James Bond in the race scene in the Eon Production A View To A Kill, labelled 'Hayward, 95 Mount Street, London W1Y 5HG', typed 'Mr. R. Moore' and dated '6.6.84' numbered '17393', comprising a tail jacket, waistcoat, and trousersFootnotes:'Moneypenny, be a darling would you and collect that for me? I'll buy you a drink when we get back'- James Bond [Sir Roger Moore] after winning at Ascot Racecourse in A View To A Kill (1985)In his seventh and final outing as James Bond, Sir Roger Moore sports the full morning suit at Royal Ascot with M, Q, Moneypenny, and Sir Godfrey Tibbett (Patrick Macnee), while investigating Max Zorin's (Christopher Walken) and May Day (Grace Jones). In the film, Bond's matching morning coat, waistcoat and trousers are completed with a light grey top hat, gloves and Macclesfield tie, together with a traditional white carnation to the lapel.A View To A Kill marks the third and final Bond film for which Douglas Hayward was tailor, who would have produced more than one morning suit for the scene. Sir Roger fondly recalled that 'Doug's principle was 'Keep them as classic as possible, as I believe people will be watching Bond Films in twenty year's time'' (The Chap, December 2017). It was this stylish and conservative philosophy which has made Bond's wardrobe in this period one of the most timeless in cinema, with Sir Roger's central role celebrated fifty years on from his first appearance as the secret agent. Please note that the shirt and tie are for illustrative purposes only and are not included in the lot. This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: ** VAT on imported items at a preferential rate of 5% on Hammer Price and the prevailing rate on Buyer's Premium. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

A Douglas Hayward bespoke herringbone wool and silk sports jacket made for Sir Roger MooreLabelled 'Hayward, Roger Moore', and dated '2.5.90', with a pair of Hayward grey corduroy trousers labelled with name 'Roger Moore' and dated '6.11.90' Footnotes:Douglas 'Doug' Hayward (1934 – 2008) was not just a tailor to the stars (of whom he dressed many, including David Niven, Clint Eastwood, Sir John Gielgud, Michael Caine, Terence Stamp, Rex Harrison and Steve McQueen to name a few) but also the tailor for many films. He made the suits for Michael Caine and Noel Coward in The Italian Job and for Sir Roger Moore in James Bond. He wasn't just James Bond's tailor, however, but also Sir Roger's personal tailor and they struck up a great friendship, regularly lunching at Scott's on Mount Street. John Lennon once sang ''A working-class hero is something to be', in his song of the same name, about Doug Hayward. He was unable to gain a cutter's job on Savile Row due to his Cockney accent, so instead joined fellow showbiz specialist tailor Dimitrio Major, whose clients included Peter Sellers, in Fulham where he developed a service mentality and his career flourished. When choosing his own premises, he shunned Savile Row in favour of a house at 95 Mount Street in Mayfair. Arguably as well known for his celebrity friendships as much as for his tailoring, the impact Doug Hayward had on the style and fashion of London, especially in the Sixties and Seventies, was great.

Captivated by the pristine charm of the British countryside and driven by an unwavering passion for landscape painting, William Nicholson crafted a remarkable body of work that echoes his deep-rooted connection to nature. His desire to be immersed within the countryside became reality when Nicholson and his wife Mabel Pryde purchased the old vicarage in Rottingdean, near Brighton. The series of works influenced by this location during the 1920s and mid-1930s was referred to as his 'downs period' where Nicholson focused his attention to the beauty and serenity of the hilly, chalk grasslands on the South Downs. This move towards landscape painting marked a departure from his exploration of still life and portraiture. Nicholson's renowned "downland series" stands as a testament to his ability to portray the changing seasons, moods, and colours of the rural landscapes with timeless artistry. "The Fells, Ambleside," painted around 1942 is from a slightly later date and yet it still captures the same essence of Nicholson's 'downland series' illustrating the rolling hills of Ambleside in Cumbria as he draws the viewer's eye deep into the landscape. The work is believed to have been painted in either May or June when Nicholson was invited to act as the external assessor for the Royal College of Art students, who now resided in Ambleside after being evacuated in 1940. The dry-stone walling curves through the landscape splitting the scene in two. The stone quarry and patchwork of hills on one side with a vast open landscape with sheep grazing on the other. Nicholson has used sgraffito technique to mark out the grass and the texture of the walls. A key figure in Nicholson's life was his dear friend and brother-in-law James Pryde, whose work is also featured in Robert Kime's collection (Lot x & x). As struggling artists in the 1890s, Pryde and Nicholson saw an opportunity to explore the poster market and its growing popularity. The pair joined together to create an artistic partnership they coined 'the Brothers Beggarstaff.' The pair experimented with collage, silhouettes and simplistic forms provided innovative and revolutionary ideas of marketing. Their work, proving too 'avant-garde', pushed them both back to their traditional artistic journeys. However, Nicholson saw an opportunity to experiment with print-making and went on to produce extremely popular series titled 'An Alphabet', 'An Almanac of Sports' and 'London Types' under the publisher William Heinemann. Registration - T730 SCGChassis No. - JN1GBAS14U0031771M.O.T. - July 2024Odometer - 53,624 Attractively finished in a dark shade of green and trimmed in grey leather, ‘T730 SCG’ benefits from having the optional turbocharged version of Nissan’s proven 2.0-litre twin-cam powerplant. It rides on quality Michelin Primacy tyres and currently displays a totally credible (though unwarranted) total mileage of just 53,624 courtesy of six keepers, the most recent of whom has retained the Nissan since January last year. He classes the well-presented interior as ‘excellent’, and the four-cylinder engine, five-speed manual transmission, two-door bodywork and metallic paintwork as ‘good’. He is now offering the car complete with Kenwood bluetooth stereo coupled to a boot-mounted Clarion CD autochanger, service history file, and a current MOT valid into July next year. Multiple generations of Nissan’s ‘Silvia’ series of compact sports cars were offered at home and abroad from 1965-1968 and 1975-2002. The S14 model that debuted in Japan towards the end of 1993 was marketed in Europe as the 200SX, and is the offering that concerns us here. A sporting two-door coupe, it was available between 1994 and 2000 with a 2.0-litre twin-cam engine in either normally-aspirated or turbo form, and with either five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. The attractive model was treated to a mild styling update during 1996, versions of which are known by the Nissan cognoscenti as the S14A – examples with the force-fed engine also benefited from improved turbochargers. The cars rode on five-spoke alloy wheels and featured a prominent boot spoiler. In summary:A discreet performance car with two-litre turbo powerA six-keeper example currently displaying just 53,624 milesEquipped with bluetooth stereo and CD autochanger
