Lot 245

1968 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Pagoda Transmission: manualMileage:95282The Mercedes-Benz 280 SL was introduced in December 1967 and continued in production until February 1971. An all-new design by Paul Bracq to replace the 190 SL and 300 SL Roaster. The 280 SL had a powerful 2.8 litre version of Mercedes inline-six and used Bosch fuel injection. To save on weight the bonnet, boot lid and tonneau cover were all composed of aluminium. The nickname 'Pagoda' was quickly adopted thanks to the slightly concave roof on the optional removable hardtop that resembled a pagoda roof. The comparatively short and wide chassis, combined with an excellent suspension, powerful disc brakes and radial tyres gave the W113 superb handling for its time. These roadsters also have one of the most beautiful bodies produced in the 1960s. Thanks to their robust inline-six and their luxurious Mercedes interior, they are wonderful cars to be driven and enjoyed. The styling of the front paid homage to the legendary 300 SL with its characteristic upright Bosch €˜fishbowl' headlights and simple chrome grille, dominated by the large three-pointed star in the nose panel. This very tidy left hand drive example of this iconic German classic was imported from the US in 2016 and was then repainted in the traditional white which you see today. Its interior, which we believe to be original but cannot confirm, is red MB Tex and is in good condition. Its 2.8 engine is mated to a manual gearbox and we are informed it runs well. The car comes with its factory hardtop which is also in good condition and this Pagoda is priced very reasonably compared to many similar classic Mercedes-Benz and can be used every day or to tour in Europe, either way this is a stylish sports car and still turns heads on our roads today.

Lot 254

2003 Mercedes-Benz SL55 Transmission: automaticMileage:95356The fifth generation of the legendary SL series convertible sports cars was known as the R230. It featured a fully retractable hardtop that was marketed as the Vario Roof, a first for the SL class although it had been available on the smaller SLK model since 1997. The flagship models were built by AMG in the form of the SL55 and SL65, both highly tuned versions of the SL500 and SL600 respectively. The SL55 was powered by a mighty supercharged version of the 5.5 litre, V8 which produced 493bhp and achieved 0-62 in 4.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 155mph (governed). In theory, the SL55 could reach 190mph if the car was derestricted but, for many, the acceleration and top speed is impressive enough in its standard form! The Mercedes-Benz SL55 is no shrinking violet but the previous owner of this car was not satisfied and wanted to attract even more attention. A full wide body kit was used to convert the SL55 AMG to a recreation of the later Brabus SL65 Black Edition with the help of a professional ADAIR kit. Subject to a light category D insurance loss in 2013, ADAIR used this opportunity to facelift the headlights and expertly replace the panels with the wide body kit. The car today looks every part its £280,000 plus sibling, a real wolf in wolfs clothing and is described by our vendor as €˜an absolute goliath of a car'. We are informed that the engine has been breathed on with the intention of achieving 600bhp, however until dyno tested this is still an unknown, but it certainly feels very close to that figure. The incredible sound from the exhaust is enough to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end making this an exciting car to drive and own. We are also informed only one genuine SL65 Brabus Black Edition car exists and is held in a collection owned by the Dubai Royal family. An AMG super-charged V8 with the roof down is a perfect motoring scenario and so desired by fans of the SL Mercedes-Benz. Offered with a MoT test certificate until June 2023, this stunning SL will turn heads at every opportunity and will be sure to do the same when offered on 26th November at the home of AMG Mercedes-Benz.

Lot 256

1990 Porsche 944 Turbo Transmission: manualMileage:50980With a not inconsiderable 250bhp available to your right foot, this fabulous example certainly has the bite to back up its good looks. The condition is also excellent, a point not wasted on the vendor or indeed the one before him. It was the personal property of a notable Porsche enthusiast and owner of independent specialist, Porsche Torque in Middlesex for over 15 years. Supplied originally by Lancaster Cambridge and presented in classic Guards Red with a white linen leather interior, it has formed a part of two private Porsche collections over the years, down to two important factors, its low mileage and its superb condition and history. It also benefits from just four previous owners over the last 32 years from new.It came with 16€ Turbo-style alloy wheels, limited slip differential, ABS and power steering. Internal comforts included electric sports seats, air conditioning and electric windows and mirrors. A rare and expensive addition also fitted was a completely removable sunroof. This could be stowed in the boot when not in use and allowed the occupants maximum sun and fresh air without the noise often associated with a convertible. New sparkplugs and cambelts were fitted at the last service some 800 miles ago and an MoT test certificate will accompany the car valid until March next year. Unusually available, a pristine and unmolested example with unmarked coachwork and an interior commensurate with careful ownership and very light use.

Lot 260

1981 BMW M535i Transmission: manualMileage:115000The BMW E12 series was the first model to be given the 5-Series label. Built between 1972 and 1981, almost 700,000 were built in total in factories across the globe including locations as far flung as South Africa, Indonesia, and Thailand as well as the firm's native Germany. The replacement for the much-loved New Class it was offered with a wide range of engines from the 89bhp 1.8-litre of the BMW 518 through to the 3.2-litre, 197bhp 533i. Inline four and six-cylinders options were on the board, along with a wide variety of both manual and automatic gearboxes. Most had steel wheels, and all had recirculating ball steering. And yet, for all its humble beginnings, the E12 ushered in a whole new category into the sector, that of the high-performance saloon.Because the M535i was the first volume production €˜M' car (the M1 was a whole different kettle of fish, of course€¦). Launched in 1980, it is powered by a 3.5-litre straight-six M90 engine from the 635CSi that develops 215bhp. The gearbox is a €˜dog-leg' five-speed Getrag manual, and the rear axle features a limited-slip differential. Performance is strong rather than vivid, with 60mph coming up in just under eight seconds and a top speed of around 140mph. Of course, the braking system is upgraded, as is the suspension the latter being both lower and stiffer than standard and damped by specially developed Bilstein dampers. Front and rear spoilers give the car visual flair, while the interior gained fancy, figure-hugging Recaro seats and the M1's sports steering wheel. They were genuinely handbuilt. This lovely example of this superb marque has been the subject of much expenditure to include a complete respray in Black (its original factory colour) and a new black leather interior which included its Recaro seats. During the recommissioning, the engine was rebuilt also and is mated to the desirable dog-leg gearbox, it also comes with electric windows. This is a striking car in fantastic condition.

Lot 270

1978 Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC Transmission: automaticMileage:94900The R107 and C107 Mercedes-Benz SL variants have long been revered amongst classic car devotees, being built to exacting engineering standards and with a subtle air of sophistication. These cars were built from 1971 through to 1989, the second longest single series ever produced by Mercedes-Benz after the G-Class. The SL (R107) was a two-seat convertible with standard soft top, optional hardtop and optional folding seats for the rear bench. Its sibling, the SLC (C107) or €˜SL Coupé' derivative, was a two-door hardtop Coupé with normal rear seats. It was launched at the Paris Motor Show and signalled a shift in management thinking at Stuttgart about what made a successful luxury Coupé. Sporting a longer wheelbase and sufficient interior room for four, the SLC was a sleek two-door car that combined the seating advantages of a four-door saloon with the style of a sporty Coupé.This nice left hand drive example is presented in white with grey/black interior which has been reupholstered in herringbone and looks very presentable indeed. The car comes with electric windows, cassette radio, some previous servicing receipts, old MoT test certificates and its UK V5 Registration Document. These 2+2 German luxury touring sports Coupés are very sought after and being offered at No reserve, this example is surely one to go for!Interested parties should note that this car has developed an electrical fault which now prevents it from starting. Also, it has partially seized on its brakes and cannot be driven away and will need transporting.

1962 [JEX 110] Triumph T20SH Tiger Cub (Sports Home), 199cc single cylinder vintage motorcycle. This matching numbers example was restored from 1995 to original specification, paintwork and registration (certified by the 'Triumph Owners M.C.C.' Engine No. T20SH 89041. N/S outer battery case missing. Will require some recommissioning before road use. Complete with original 'buff' registration book and current V5C among other history and documents. As the name suggests, the T20SH (Sports Home) model was intended mainly for the UK market. It was a development of the T20SS and SL models, which made it a real lightweight sports machine for the road. A 9:1 piston, 'R' cam, sports type valve springs, a close ratio gear cluster and large bore Monobloc carburettor made sure of that. This was a real 'Baby Bonneville'.

The 2212 stands out in particular for its dial layout and is often referred to as the ‘surfboard’ due to its distinctive subdial configuration engineered to increase visibility while also adhering to the 1960s design styles. The case shape is an alluring aspect of this watch, which stood out from most of the Breitling collection at the time. It is similar to the Breitling Top Time ‘Racing’ ref. 2211, released in the same period. In those days, the Top Time was the more popular of the two, mainly due to its appearance on Sean Connery’s wrist in the James Bond film Thunderball in 1965, but the Sprint has now become arguably the more sought after watch by today’s collectors.
