Lot 100

The C55 signified a return to AMGs V8 roots, after barely a three-year flirtation with a supercharged V6. AMG found 8,100 homes for the C32, but the AMG engineers seemed much happier now that there was a serious, big-capacity, naturally aspirated 5.4 litre V8 powering the meatiest C-Class and the badge is there to, well, to ensure the owners dont forget. It is not the performance, AMG claimed 5.2 seconds to 62mph for both C55 and C32, or even the transformation to a deep, wonderfully muscular exhaust note, but the makeover in the dynamics that stood the new sports saloon apart. The C55 marked a small, but perceptible, shift towards a sharper, more sporting focus, that set it closer to the M3 than any previous AMG hot rod C-Class.Imported from Japan, this immaculate low mileage example is presented in Obsidian Black with black leather interior, including AMG embossed on the front seats. It comes with electric glass sunroof, cruise control, climate control, heated electric seats, Xenon headlights and electric folding mirrors. The car has eleven service invoices and stamps but also it comes with a mileage guarantee certificate. These are becoming very collectable and still produce exhilarating performance for a small family saloon!

Lot 102

After an initial attempt to enter the luxury motor car market, which did not get beyond the prototype stage, Hotchkiss decided on a one model policy and introduced the Coventry designed AM in 1923. Prior to 1929 the company continued with a one model policy until the introduction of the six-cylinder AM73 and AM80 models were announced. 73 and 80 stood for the bore of the engines used, a naming theme picked up again later in 1936 after a brief hiatus. WB of Motorsport Magazine said, I think it is safe to say that the Hotchkiss Company was one of those manu-facturers who never made a bad car, or at least very few of them. Certainly in the post-vintage years Hotch-kiss advocates you could sit in their 100mph Paris-Nice saloons feeling in no way inferior to their neighbours who had invested in Bentleys new Silent Sports Car.This Hotchkiss AM 80 Monaco was imported into the UK from the Netherlands in April 2018 and is believed to have been restored in France in the late 1970s or early 80s. It is understood the owner in Holland didnt use the car a great deal, initially using it to drive to the annual village fete and back once or twice a year. Presented in good order throughout the bodywork is solid and retains a nice patina from its earlier restoration. The doors shut beautifully with a click, while the interior is presented in very good order. The beige cloth seats are very good and the solid wood window capping and clean headlining making it a very comfortable mode of transport. The boot is sound and waterproofed and has been adapted to carry various tools (which will be included in the sale). The current vendor has recommissioned and maintained the Hotchkiss wherever necessary and as such it is in very good condition. Notable work included a new clutch, and a reconditioned braking system. It has also been rewired and a new battery mounted under the rear floor along with a battery master switch and modern high-torque starter motor. In 2019 the engine was rebuilt with a set of stronger con-rods, pistons, new oil pump gears, valves ground, etc. Offered with a history file containing a collection of handbooks and brochures, sundry invoices, and the UK Registration document this well sorted example drives very well indeed and sounds fantastic when on song.

Lot 114A

The fifth generation of the legendary SL series of two-door convertible sports cars was known as the R230. It featured a fully retractable hardtop that was marketed as the Vario roof, a first for the SL class although it had been available on the smaller SLK model since 1997. The flagship models were built by AMG in the form of the SL55 and SL65, both highly tuned versions of the SL500 and SL600 respectively. The SL55 was powered by a mighty supercharged version of the 5.5 litre, V8 which produced 493bhp and achieved 0-62 in 4.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 155mph (governed). In theory, the SL55 could reach 190mph if the car was derestricted but, for many, the acceleration and top speed is impressive enough in its standard form! The SL55 AMG is further enhanced by an F1 Performance Package offering a truly dynamic driving experience; this high-performance version of the roadster is closely derived from the official FIA Safety Car for 2002. The enhanced dynamic characteristics relate to an extensive range of revisions to its body - engine cooling system, brakes, and suspension. Larger cooling-air intakes and an additional engine-oil cooler ensure that the AMG V8 super-charged engine is maintained at the optimum operating temperatures during aggressive driving. The SL55 AMG with the Performance Package also draws on its Formula 1 counterpart when it comes to the chassis set-up, together with the choice of wheels and tyres. The Mercedes-Benz AMG engineers based the configuration on the set-up used by official FIA Safety Car driver Bernd Mayländer on all the F1 Grand Prix circuits. This example of the incredibly desirable SL55 with the F1 Performance Pack is finished in gleaming Obsidian Black over a mid-grey and black ash interior; it appears almost unmarked. Fitted with a set of hollow-spoke, 19" F1 split-rim alloys, shod with 4 correct Pirelli tyres, the car is also de-restricted to its maximum 186mph should you be brave enough! Options including panoramic glass Vario roof, Bose sound-system, key-less go, CD and Command NAV. The SL55 has ten service invoices, the last service undertaken in January 2020. Maintained regardless of cost this Mercedes has recently benefited from new control arms and bushes fitted to the front suspension and a recent ABC flush, the work costing circa £1,500. This wonderful looking example is an opportunity not to be missed. A collectable, comfortable and extremely capable modern classic.

The Triumph TR5 was manufactured for just 13 months, from August 1967 through to September 1968 and is the most sought after of the Michelotti /Karmann-styled Triumph sports roadsters, combining the most elegant early looks with all-independent suspension and the best engine. Optional extras included overdrive, wire wheels and the Surrey top with detachable roof panel. Visually identical to the Michelotti-styled TR4, the TR5 hid its main differences under the body and the most significant of these was the engine, the first British production sports car unit to feature petrol injection. The 2,498cc straight-six used Lucas new indirect injection system to develop 150bhp. It's the TR5 that aficionados seek out as the most attractive and collectible of the series. This absolutely superb TR5 was the subject of a full restoration, and the result is stunning! It is presented in gleaming red with a black hood and black interior. It is powered by the lively 2.5 litre straight six engine which sounds terrific when the foot is firmly down on the accelerator. The history file is considerable and all invoices and details of its restoration can be found in this file. This car wants for nothing and is ready for the British Spring and Summer! Superb! The car is being sold with a NOVA and the purchaser will be responsible for registering the car with the DVLA.

These fabulous sports cars were unveiled at the Geneva Salon in 1977 and voted Car of the Year for 1978. It was intended as an upmarket replacement for the long-running 911 but in the event Porsche's rear-engined classic would outlive its younger sibling. The front-engined 928's stylish hatchback body featured aluminium doors, bonnet and front wings in the interests of weight saving, while ingenious impact resistant 'bumpers' made of colour matched plastic were incorporated into the nose and tail. A five-speed transaxle gearbox or three-speed automatic were the transmission options, in 1979 the 928S with its 4.6 litre engine arrived and then in 1986 the model was further revised and restyled, becoming the 928 S4. Its engine producing 320bhp courtesy of twin-cam, 16 valve cylinder heads and enlargement to 4,957cc, the S4 enjoyed a welcome top speed boost to 160mph.Originally registered in January 1990, this handsome Porsche presents well in Grey metallic which is complemented with grey leather. Power delivery is smooth from the five litre 320 bhp engine and we are told this Porsche is a joy to drive. We are also informed that the file for this autobahn cruiser contains a V5C registration document, a good service history and an MoT test certificate valid until July 2022. Porsche 928s have recently rediscovered their rightful popularity in recent years and represent a fantastic way to enjoy the open road.

It comes with electric glass sunroof, cruise control, climate control, heated electric seats, Xenon headlights and electric folding mirrors. The owner has just had the car serviced and it comes with a guarantee mileage certificate. This is a superb example of this pocket rocket model and it still provides terrific performance from its lively V8 €“ accompanied by its trademark great and brutish exhaust note!

1975 saw the launch of the Jaguar XJS. In a year that Margaret Thatcher was made the leader of the Conservative Party and petrol was 70p/gallon, the new grand tourer from Jaguar was introduced as the replacement for the iconic E-Type. During an astonishing build run of 21 years, 115,413 units were produced by the Coventry manufacturer at their world famous Browns Lane factory. V12 engine cars were unusual at the time with notable exceptions coming from Italian luxury sports car makers Lamborghini and Ferrari. The specifications of the XJS compared well with both Italian cars; it was able to accelerate to 60mph in 7.6 seconds and had a top speed of 143mph. The XJS model was available until production ceased in 1996.This lovely 1990 Jaguar XJS convertible is showing 88,420 miles on the odometer and is finished in the wonderful colour combination of Bordeaux Red metallic over a contrasting, well presented Magnolia interior and benefits from desirable Lattice alloy wheels. Offered in good order throughout, this Jaguar has recently been treated to a service, the fitment of a Bluetooth radio and repair work to the walnut dashboard. Previous maintenance works include various services and an extensive refresh to the paintwork which retains a deep shine. Included in the file are many previous MoT test certificates, maintenance invoices, a current MoT test certificate valid until June 2022 and the original service and workshop booklets. Also present is the original toolkit and the spare wheel. A nicely presented example of the flagship 5.3 litre V12 XJS which has established itself as a most worthy, latter-day, classic. Offered to auction with a V5C registration document and including the cherished number plate G70 XJS.

Lot 126

Manufactured between 1965 and 1969, the Porsche 912 was very much the entry level Porsche sports car. Although, for some time, considered the poorer relation to the 911, the 912 is a serious sports car in its own right. With aerodynamic lines, low weight and an efficient engine, the 912 demonstrated good performance, nimble handling and economy, resulting in initial production cars outselling the 911. The 912 won Car and Driver's 1967 'Readers Choice' Poll for its class, a popular choice for motorsport teams and a rally prepared 912 won its class in the 1967 European Rally Championship. This Porsche 912 is in impeccable order throughout following a recent nut and bolt restoration. This Porsche has benefitted from meticulous attention to detail during the recent works done and it certainly shows. Presenting immaculately in newly painted grey metallic with a contrasting newly trimmed interior, the level of work on this Porsche needs to be seen. The engine bay is immaculate as is the front loadspace. The shut lines are good and the chrome work has been replaced. We are informed that she runs as well as she looks. With rising values for Porsche 912's, this gem of a car is certainly a contender for one to have and to hold on to.

Lot 128

The Ferrari 456 was the first front-engine Ferrari for 20 years and offered true performance touring for four occupants. The 456 GT was announced in September 1992, making its public show debut in Paris the following month. This was a positive and brave move by the company, as the prestige sports car markets were in recession after all the speculation and hype of the late eighties. However, they showed their commitment to broadening their range and to maintaining their position at the head of the list of the world's most desirable automobiles. The Pininfarina styled aluminium bodywork made for a pleasing design, particularly the modernised reflection of the fabled 365 GTB/4 Daytona with the long bonnet, featuring retractable headlight pods. Also inspired by the Daytona was the design treatment of the rear of the cabin envelope and tail. Thus although the shape was thoroughly modern, it contained retro trace elements to associate it with the company's history. Electronically adjustable self-levelling suspension gave positive handling and a comfortable ride, while the 442bhp, V12 made sure that performance had not been overlooked.Registered in March of 1999 this stylish Ferrari looks well in Nero Black paintwork with a contrasting Ivory leather interior. The file for this 456 contains a V5C registration document, a valid MoT test certificate and various service invoices, the most recent of which is for £3987. We are informed that recent servicing works have been undertaken by the vendors mechanic. The car certainly performed well on a recent test drive. The 456 model has the practicality of four seats combined with the perfect balance of aggressiveness and elegance. This handsome automatic transmission, example awaits a new owner to enjoy it to its fullest.

Lot 134

The TR5 was built for a 13 month period between August 1967 and September 1968 in Coventry. Visually identical to the Michelotti styled TR4, the TR5 hid the main differences under the body. The most significant change was the 2.5 litre straight-six fuel-injected engine developing around 150bhp and which was carried forward to the TR6. At the time, fuel injection was uncommon in road cars. Triumph claimed in their sales brochure that it was the first British production sports car with petrol fuel injection. This engine could propel the TR5 from 0-50mph in just 6.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 125mph. Standard equipment included front disc brakes, independent rear suspension, rack and pinion steering and a four-speed gearbox. The available optional extras included overdrive, wire wheels and a hardtop with detachable roof panel, known as the Surrey Top.This stunning, fully restored, manual with optional overdrive TR5 was built in June 1968 before being first registered on 1st August, this is verified by the accompanying Heritage Certificate. Presented in possibly the best colour combination of dark blue with cream trim, this example completed a nut and bolt restoration in 2014, the restoration spanned the best part of a decade and can be seen in photos contained within the history file. Bills found in the history file amount to over £40,000 and include a full engine rebuild by Newark engines in Nottinghamshire before Rawles motorsport, in 2012, reconditioned and fitted a lightened flywheel, piper 244R camshaft and Revington TR exhaust. The chassis was galvanised and strengthened and the quality of the works is easy to see and is borne out by the smooth running of its 2498cc engine. Since the restoration the car has never seen the wet and has been housed in a garaged by its subsequent owners. Fitted with a rally bar with spots however the chrome front bumper is available. A recent inspection by Andrew Holyoak valued this example more than £50,000 and we can see why.Offered to auction with a V5C registration document, MoT test certificate with no advisories until February 2023, details and invoices from the restoration and a Heritage Certificate, this example is offered at a fraction of the expenditure lavished upon the vehicle during its restoration with only 1161 original right hand drive cars built it would be a great investment.

The Nash Motor Company forms part of the very backbone of the American motor industry right from its inception in 1916 right through until relatively recently in 1957. It is also responsible for several safety innovations from unibody construction right through to seat belts with many models available throughout this period and it is the eight cylinder Advanced model that we have today. This standard Art-Deco coupé body was designed by Count Alexis de Sakhnoffsky, the Russian-born son of Prince Vladimir Sakhnoffsky who came to the West after fleeing the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia. By the early 1920s, Sakhnoffsky had become known in Europe as a designer of ultra-modern, streamlined sports cars. This put his design skills in high demand and, by 1929, Sakhnoffsky moved to America and began working for several motor companies including Auburn, Cord, and American Austin. Indeed, the L-29 Cord body he designed for himself won the Grand Prize at the 1929 Monaco Concours d'Elegance and the Grand Prix d'Honneur at the 1929 Beaulieu Concours. In fact, it was the coupé that formed the basis of what we have here. An Australian (hence righthand drive) industrialist fell in love with this model and bought three examples. This was just the beginning however as he then had them stripped back and rebuilt to his own specification. They benefitted from a huge straight eight-cylinder, overhead valve engine with an advanced twin ignition, 16 sparkplug layout with power passing through a flexible three-speed manual gearbox.Restored in Australia by the previous owner, now deceased, it was then shipped to the UK by the vendor in September 2005. During its time here, it has been meticulously prepared to the extent that every single element of the original electrical and mechanical system now works and every part of this car functions as it should. For safety, directional signals have been added and it also benefits from a recent service and 12-month MoT test. It has since gone on to win a myriad of accolades including several concourse prizes, full details of which can be found in the accompanying file.Whilst two other examples of this car were thought to have been built, the whereabouts of these are unknown and so, therefore this, with its period set of hickory-shafted golf clubs and picnic set, represents one of the rarest Nashs in the world.Interested parties should note that this example is fully UK road registered and complete with a UK V5C.

Lot 143

The NSU Ro80 was a technologically advanced saloon produced by the West German firm of NSU from 1967 until 1977. Most notable was the powertrain; a 113bhp, 995cc twin-rotor Wankel engine driving the front wheels through a semi-automatic transmission employing an innovative vacuum system, and as such was voted Car of the Year in 1968, by European motoring writers. Other technological features of the Ro80, aside from the powertrain, were the four wheel, inboard, disc brakes, which for some time were generally only featured on expensive sports or luxury saloon cars. It also featured an automatic clutch which was commonly described as a three-speed semi-automatic gearbox: there was no clutch pedal, but instead, on top of the gear knob, an electric switch that operated a vacuum system which disengaged the clutch. The gear lever itself could then be moved through a standard 'H pattern' gate. The shape was also slippery with a drag coefficient of 0.355 allowing for an impressive top speed of 112mph.First registered on 23rd January 1975, this revolutionary motorcar presents in good order throughout; the interior is in very good condition boasting all its original features. A rare car, with only 45 registered with the DVLA on the road, you are unlikely to come across another at any motoring event. The vendor, a collector of many quirky cars, informs us that the car runs and drives well and is only selling to free up some space.Supplied with its V5C registration document, the NSU offers understated performance and old school German quality from an interesting period in German automotive history. The Wankel-powered NSU Ro80 is now, as it was then, in a class of its own.

Lot 145

In 1975, the Jaguar E-Type finally gave way to an all new and more efficient Jaguar, the Jaguar XJ-S. This new luxury grand tourer, although never quite having the same sporting image as the E-Type, was actually more aerodynamic with the final example leaving the production line on 4th April 1996; at that stage 115,413 units had been manufactured during a 21 year production life. V12 engine cars were unusual at the time with notable exceptions coming from Italian luxury sports car makers Lamborghini and Ferrari. The specifications of the XJS compared well with both Italian cars; it was able to accelerate to 60mph in 7.6 seconds and had a top speed of 143mph.This fabulous example is presented in white with brown leather interior and a brown hood. The car is in fantastic time warp condition and has just been repatriated to the UK from Guernsey and as such is being sold with a NOVA and would need to be registered with the DVLA by the new keeper. Its paintwork and interior are in superb condition considering its age and being the more desirable V12 model, this surely must be one of the finest examples on the market today.

Lot 149

Introduced in 1971, this impressive two-seater sports car replaced the 280 SL. The body and chassis of the third generation SL were considerably heavier and longer than its predecessor, but still showed a slight resemblance to them. The result was a luxurious 3.5 litre, V8 convertible. The engine underwent slight modifications to those being used on other models and the gear shift lever was placed on the floor in the centre of the car. The standard transmission provided a top speed of 130mph and a very respectable 0-62mph in 8.8 seconds. As with the previous generation SL's, the vehicle came as an open roadster with removable hardtop roof. The R107 body shape went on to become one of the longest running styles from Mercedes-Benz, remaining in production until 1989 with some 13 variants during that period. This superb 380 SL was originally delivered on 30th December 1980. In very good order throughout, the car has been treated to much restoration work in the past three years. The body was repaired where necessary and the paintwork stripped and refinished to a very high standard. All new chromework was fitted as well as a new soft top, carpets, fuel lines, fuel pump and four new tyres. The coachwork, interior and chromework all present very well as does the hardtop. This Mercedes has also benefitted from a comprehensive engine health check and benefits from a new fuel system and warm up valve. More recently this 380 SL has been the subject of various works undertaken by the SL Shop and total over £12,000, as such it is ready to be enjoyed immediately. Offered with a sizeable history file including many sundry invoices, bills from the SL Shop, the UK registration document (the tax class showing as historic), and old MoT test certificates. R107 model SL's are becoming increasingly desirable and this example is one of the best we have seen.

Lot 156

Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2003, the first-generation Continental GT differed from previous incarnations due to it no longer being a coachbuilt car. However, as a result, the price at launch was significantly less than the Continental R (approximately half) which exposed the car to a much wider customer base. Despite the lower price however, the new GT was still roundly well received with celebrities, sports personalities alike buying in droves due to the six-litre, twin-turbocharged W12 engine with 552bhp coupled to opulent surroundings and an ultra comfortable ride. After all, this was designed to be a mile crunching continent cruiser and with that huge W12 engine coupled to a smooth six-speed automatic box distributed by the Quattro four-wheel drive system, it was equally at home in Mayfair as it was on the Autobahn where it was capable of an astonishing 196mph and a 0-60 time of just 4.7 seconds. The Continental offered the most comfortable way of reaching supercar speeds and, still to this day, is a fabulously capable GT.This example of an early GT is presented in Silver over a blue hide interior. This Bentley boasts massage and heated front seats with electric memory, multimedia DVD, radio, TV, phone fitting, satellite navigation and electric folding mirrors. Offered with a good service history with 13 service stamps, seven of which are from Jack Barclay main dealer and six with Bentley Specialists.  Accompanying the Continental is a new MoT test certificate, various sundry invoices and the current V5 registration document. Continental GT's are incredible value for money and combine opulence with speed like no other, this example is without doubt very well priced and could represent fabulous value for money.

Lot 157

The Bentley Turbo R initially inherited the turbocharged engine from the Mulsanne Turbo and also sported a retuned suspension and wider tyres on alloy wheels, quite a departure for a Bentley. From the 1987 model year however, the Turbo R's V8 engine was re-tuned with new Bosch MK-Motronic fuel injection for added torque. Other modifications carried out at the same time included new sports seats and a higher rear axle ratio. Motor Trend called the Turbo R €œthe first Bentley in decades deserving of the famous name€ in their review of the car on its introduction to the United States in 1989. The suspension changes, though seemingly subtle, transformed the heavy car into a real performer and slotted above the Bentley Mulsanne S and Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit, and it carved a well-deserved niche in the world of performance saloons. This desirable floor gear change example presents extremely well in the classic colour combination of dark metallic green with contrasting tan leather. Contained within the history file of this well looked-after Bentley is a number of invoices and an impressive 22 stamps in the service book. A head gasket bill completed 4,000 miles ago for £7,000 is present. The interior of a Bentley is renowned for its space, leather and walnut trim; this Crewe beauty is no exception and given its age shows little signs of wear. This Bentley is presented with a V5C registration document and a fresh MoT test certificate. Offered without reserve this Bentley offers an affordable entry into ultimate executive motoring.

Rick Stevens founded Kougar Cars in 1979, although the first (approximately 30) cars were marketed by a company called Storcourt Wells Ltd. He built the prototype in 1976 which incorporated an aluminium body, all the other cars have a fibreglass bodyshell.  Ricks inspiration for the Kougar originated in his ownership of a Jaguar S-Type saloon but recognised that it had a scrap value of only £100 to £200. He also realised that a first-class sports car could be made by connecting the heavy lumps of the Jaguar together with a simple light weight body and chassis unit. The sports car design was not directly inspired by any particular vehicle, but he admitted to having a certain fondness for the Frazer Nash TT replica and the Healey Silverstone.Registered on 19th April 1968 as a Daimler SP250, this Kougar is now fitted with the ultra-reliable 4235cc six-cylinder XK unit, mated to a manual gearbox with overdrive. Recent work carried out on this Kougar includes removing the body, inspecting, and painting the chassis. A new rack and pinion have been fitted as have a new clutch, radiator, and new carpets. The vendor - a knowledgeable classic car enthusiast has enjoyed owning WPO 464F and is only selling this stylish sports car due to lack of suitable storage space. We are advised she drives well, and the engine appeared to have excellent oil pressure during our inspection. Sitting proudly on wire wheels, this Kougar is offered for sale with a V5C registration document and a tonneau cover in anticipation of any inclement weather.

The Triumph Vitesse was introduced in May 1962, re-using a name previously used by the pre-Second World War Triumph Motor Company, and was an in-line six-cylinder performance version of the Triumph Herald small saloon. The Herald had been introduced on 22nd April 1959 and was an attractive two-door car styled by the Italian designer Giovanni Michelotti. Within two years, Triumph began to give thought to a sports saloon based on the Herald and using their six-cylinder engine. Michelotti was again approached for styling, and he came up with a car that used almost all body panels from the Herald, combined with a new front end with a slanted four-headlamp design. This elegant Vitesse shows only three owners since it was first registered in November 1964. Recently benefitting from a full respray, this Triumph now presents well in white with a contrasting red interior. We are informed that this Vitesse is a joy to drive and started on request. This hardtop version is offered for sale with a V5C registration document and without reserve. Some fun summertime driving awaits the successful bidder.

Lot 41

With a name reminiscent of the 500 Mondial race cars from the 1950s, the Ferrari Mondial was a replacement model for the Ferrari 308 GT4. The Mondial was the first Ferrari where the entire engine, gearbox and rear suspension assembly was mounted on a detachable steel subframe, making engine removal for a major rebuild or cylinder head removal much easier than it was on previous models. The steel coachwork was taken care of by Carrozzeria Scaglietti and built over a lightweight steel box section space frame. The Mondial 8 is considered one of the marque's most practical vehicles.Originally registered on 12th November 1986, this Ferrari Mondial is presented in metallic grey with lovely Crema trim which is in good condition. The car presents well and is offered with many invoices from Superformance and a stamped service booklet combined with all but one MoT test certificate since 1991. Fitted with a sports exhaust which gives this wonderful 32 valve Ferrari the sound of a Formula 1 car, combined with the practicality of four seats. Supplied with a V5C registration document together with a history file containing the original service book, owners manual and invoices within the leather-bound folder. Accompanied by an MoT test certificate valid until July 2022, this is an appreciating classic which we believe to be one of only three UK cars presented in this colour combination and boasting the desirable 3.2 litre Quattrovalvole engine. The vendor has addressed several issues that were present when he purchased the car and the impressive list of works done is present in the file. These include considerable work to the ignition and electronics giving this Ferrari a new lease of life. A job relocation is the reason for the reluctant sale by the vendor.

The MGB is a sports car launched in May 1962 to replace the MGA. Introduced as a four-cylinder roadster, a coupé with 2+2 seating was added in 1965. The MGB was a relatively modern design at the time of its introduction, utilising a monocoque structure instead of the traditional 'body-on-frame' construction used on both the MGA and MG T-types. The lightweight design reduced manufacturing costs while adding to overall vehicle strength. Wind-up windows were standard and a comfortable driver's compartment offered plenty of legroom. The MGB's performance was considered brisk at the time of its introduction with a 0-60mph time of just over 11 seconds aided by the relatively light weight of the car. Handling was one of the MGB's strong points. The three-bearing 1798cc B-Series engine produced 95bhp at 5400rpm and the engine was upgraded in October 1964 to a five-bearing crankshaft in an effort to improve reliability.Acquired from Miss Carole Anne Heys in August 1990, this MGB was then to be treated to a ten-year restoration as a passion project for its new owner, Mr. Wilcox. Included in the history file is a photographic record of the restoration. Between the early and late 90s, Mr. Wilcox spent a huge amount of time and money restoring the car, with many new parts and panels, receipts for which are all in the supplied history file. Mr. Wilcox was clever in that he knew where his strengths lay. He completed the bodywork and painted the car himself in his garage to a high standard but bought in professionals for the mechanicals and interior. The first of almost all of the supplied MoT test certificates is dated from May 2000, from which point Mr. Wilcox enjoyed 15 years of motoring with the car before selling it to respected MGB dealer Former Glory. They then sold the car on to a Vicar who also enjoyed the car until last year. His services must be more fun than most as included with the car is a sheet stating the Ten commandments for the MG collector, a favorite of the vendors being €œthou shalt not let thy sons or daughters marry during the days of Goodwood or Brooklands historic meetings€!The car is supplied with V5C registration document, MoT test certificate valid until March 2023, many receipts and photographic book of the restoration. Reported by the vendor to run and drive extremely well, this roadster offers the full British classic sports car experience at incredible value.

Jaguar was founded as the Swallow Sidecar Company by Sir William Lyons in 1922, originally making motorcycle sidecars before developing passenger cars. The name was changed to Jaguar after World War II to avoid the unfavourable connotations of the SS initials. Sale to BMC happened in 1966, which in 1968 merged with Leyland Motor Corporation and became British Leyland. Jaguar cars today are designed in Jaguar Land Rover's engineering centres at the Whitley plant in Coventry and at their Gaydon site in Warwickshire and are manufactured in Jaguar's Castle Bromwich assembly plant in Birmingham. The Jaguar XK series was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show on 5th March 1996. The first generation of the series, the XK8, replaced the XJS and was available as a coupé, and convertible. The XK8 was the first eight-cylinder vehicle produced since the Daimler 250. The XK8 came with 17-inch alloy wheels, leather interior, burr walnut trim, and side airbags as standard. Originally registered on 28th August 1998, this XK8 coupé is finished in Sapphire Blue with Oatmeal leather trim and is fitted with 18inch wheels. The current vendor has maintained this Jaguar very well and throughout his stewardship, the car has had a new headlining and some trim work carried out on the seats. The head gaskets have also been replaced as have the sills. Described by the vendor as being comfortable and luxurious to drive, these modern sports cars are available at a fraction of the original price when new. Supplied with a V5 registration document, a current MoT test certificate valid until 16th June 2022. It is hard to believe this car is now 24 years old with its classic and timeless design. Offered for sale without reserve, this Jaguar XK8 coupé could well prove to be a bargain.  Guide £4,000-£6,500

Lot 53

The Triumph TR3 was built between 1955 and 1962 and was usually supplied as an open two-seater, although an occasional rear seat and bolt-on steel hardtop were available as extras. It was powered by a 1991cc engine which initially produced 95bhp increasing to 100bhp at 5000rpm. The four-speed manual transmission could be supplemented by an overdrive unit on the top three ratios electrically operated and controlled by a switch on the dash. In 1956, the front brakes changed from drum to disc becoming the first British series production car to do so. Because of these disc brakes, the TR3 became known for its superior braking ability, making it an autocross favourite. This beautiful TR3 is presented in stunning white coachwork with contrasting and retrimmed grey trim.  It was originally registered to South Africa and in 2004 was restored to a then concours level winning both silver and gold medals at the National Triumph and KZN Concours d’Elegance events. The process was described as a no expense spared nut and bolt rebuild and the quality is still evident today. The previous owner, an ex-resident of South Africa, sourced and purchased the car from renowned dealer Norman Frost of Frost Brothers in Knysna and imported the car to the UK in June 2018 having covered only 2,000 miles since the restoration. Despite being overhauled and uprated including TR4 manifolds and carbs with a road race cam and rack and pinion steering, he wanted the car to look, start and run perfectly so employed the services of ‘The Village Garage’ in East Grinstead to sweep through the car and ensure he got full enjoyment out of it every time he turned the key. Having spent in the region of £4,000 fettling the car to his requirements it now runs and drives very well indeed. The current vendor purchased this wonderful example from us last year, however he has unfortunately not had the time to use it. Coming to the market having been dry stored and maintained to a high standard it is offered with a comprehensive history file including photographic evidence of the restoration and all relevant documentation, this is a wonderful sports car and viewing is strongly recommended.

Lot 54

This replica of a 1953 Lancia D24 was commissioned in July 2017 using the mechanics of Reliant Scimitar SS1 as the donor vehicle. The running gear is from Ford and we are advised that the availability of spare parts is not a problem. Described by the vendor as being tremendous fun, this was found to be the case on a recent test drive when after firing up on request, the car provided nothing but smiles from both driver and head turning pedestrians alike. Offered to auction with a V5C registration document and a fresh MoT test certificate, this keenly priced sports car is ready to put a smile on the face of a new owner. Only 6 of the original D24s were built with only 2 of them surviving. The last time one of these sold in 2009 it achieved over $3 million.

Lot 55

Supplied with desirable hardtopChevrolet 383c.i., 5.7 litre, V8 engineFounded in 1968, the Dax Cobra has steadily established itself as a much sought after classic sports car in its own right. John Tojeiro, the original designer of the AC Ace chassis became a director of the company and the car was renamed the Dax Tojeiro. The hugely charismatic Dax 427 has since remained the undisputed market leader for more than 25 years. The cars enduring popularity owes much to Dax's policy of continual product improvement and painstaking attention to detail. A philosophy that has clearly shaped every aspect of today's Dax 427. From its state of the art technical specification, top quality composite body and sumptuous leather interior to its deep-dished Halibrand style wheels, trademark stainless steel side pipe exhausts and low, wide, purposeful stance. For many years now the clear customer favourite has been the small-block Chevrolet V8, perhaps due to its competitive price and wide choice of power outputs. It's no exaggeration to say that the car amazes all that go out in it, harnessing the power of the V8 with  ease and providing levels of grip, composure and ride comfort that simply have to be experienced to be believed. Even Jonathon Palmer was heard to say, "Wow, that's just staggering!" when taking the new demonstrator for a few laps around Brands Hatch, great praise indeed from an ex-Formula One driver. This simply fantastic example is presented in the British Racing Green with iconic racing stripes and unusually this has the optional and gorgeous hardtop which adds an element of real practicality to the V8 brute. It is fitted with the only engine to be found in a Cobra, the Chevrolet 383c.i., 5.7 litre, V8 engine. Naturally this example sounds fantastic and will give you goosebumps. It was first registered May 2002 and has since covered just over 10,259 miles. Contained within the detailed and impressive history file is a comprehensive collection of invoices relating to the cars build which includes many from Dax for what was clearly a no expense spared philosophy. Also bills for continual maintenance from some of the very best V8 specialists in the industry. The present owner was meticulous in sourcing this car having it purchased for his 50th birthday and no stone has been unturned in maintaining and accessorising, The result is simply stunning and would put a smile on anyone’s face.Chassis Number: SA9DAXM4R1A038210Engine Number: F0526TYZR0A1095Odometer Reading: 10,259 miles*Please note the registration will be retained and an age related plate will be issued in due course

Produced between 1961 and 1967, the TR4 combined a new, modern and aggressive body design by famed Italian stylist, Giovanni Michelotti with the basic chassis of the previous TR3A. The TR4 also improved passenger comfort with wind-up windows, face-level ventilation and an optional hardtop. The 2138cc engine of the late-production TR3A continued while the 1991cc engine was also made available to buyers who wanted to participate in two litre racing. When equipped with the optional overdrive, the TR4 was good for a top speed of almost 110mph. Today, the four-cylinder TR's are among the easiest of post-war classic sports cars to own and maintain being supported by a multitude of component suppliers and other specialists. This very nice, original, right hand drive 1964 Triumph TR4 with overdrive has been very well maintained by all of its previous owners. The last owner purchased this car in 2016 and went right through the cars mechanics in 2017 to prepare it for tours and rallies, which he did covering only 6,000 miles in five years. At the end of 2021 he had the car painted in its original colour red. The interior is black piped in white and features the original white dashboard and passenger grab handle. This TR4 is supplied with a V5 registration document and an MoT test certificate which expires in December 2022 along with a history file containing photocopies of previous registration documents supplied by DVLA, old MoT certificates going back to 1993 and a large number of parts invoices starting 2017. The current owner informs us that it runs and drives very well. The quality of this still very original yet fastidiously presented example should generate significant interest both within the TR Register and wider classic car enthusiasts community.

The Bentley Continental Flying Spur (2006 - 2013) was the second Bentley manufactured since the Volkswagen Group purchased the brand in 1999, after the Continental GT. The Flying Spur is essentially a four-door version of the Continental GT, with a stretched wheelbase and greater length for more spacious rear seating. The two models were similarly priced. The 2013 Spur weighs 5,580lbs and carries the same twin-turbo, 6.0 litre W12 engine used in the Continental GT, for an output of 600 horsepower and 533 pound-feet of torque. It has a 0-60mph time of 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 200mph. The steering column-mounted paddle shifters enable direct access to the six-speed gearbox when the ZF transmission is put into S or sports mode. This lovely low mileage example of this luxury saloon is presented in silver with cream leather interior. It comes with full rear climate control, fully adjustable rear seats with memory, heated and cooled rear seats with massage capability, heated and electrically operated front seats multi-adjustable sunroof, rear electric blinds, multimedia, DVD, radio, TV, satellite navigation and phone fitting. The history file contains invoices from Jack Barclay and various other invoices charting its service history over the years, which includes six stamps in the service book from Jack Barclay. This Continental Flying Spur has the desirable two rear seat option, offering the occupants just that much more in terms of luxury and individuality, more akin to First Class travel on any airline!

When Alejandro de Tomaso acquired Maserati in 1976, he had ambitious plans for the marque. His plan was to combine the prestige of the Maserati brand with a sports car that would be more affordable than the earlier high-priced models that had traditionally made up the Maserati range. The Maserati Biturbo features, as the name implies, a two-litre V6 engine with two turbochargers and a luxurious interior. The car was designed by Pierangelo Andreani, an engineer from the De Tomaso team, somewhat influenced by the design of the newer Quattroporte III (Italdesign Giugiaro), as can be observed on the front fascia. The Biturbo was initially a strong seller and brought Italian prestige to a wide audience and competed (unsuccessfully) in the British Touring Car Championship in the late 1980's, the European Touring Car Championship and the 1987 World Touring Car Championship. This ultra rare Maserati 228 is presented in red with cream leather interior and was the actual car used in the original press release (a copy of which is in the history file). This is one of only 12 right hand drive cars in the UK and only 49 were ever made. Out of a total ever produced of this particular model, this is car number 163 of 469. The interior is luxuriously appointed and  we are told the car drives well, with that evocative exhaust note from its V6 engine ever prominent, making this a joy to drive on the country roads.

The 996 is the internal designation for the Porsche 911 model manufactured and sold between 1998 and 2005. On its debut, the 996 featured the most significant changes to the Carrera model since its 1963 introduction, namely the water-cooled engine replacing the previously air-cooled unit. Progressively stringent noise regulations, environmental concerns, a higher expectation for refinement and a high-performance, four-valve per cylinder engine made the switch necessary. Other changes included a sleeker body with a more steeply raked windshield and a redesigned interior. The performance characteristics remained superb with reliability at its core. The Targa models now featured a full glass and electronically operated roof. The 996 was another step forward for Porsche, making cars that not only excited their fan base but appealed to those who wanted a comfortable and practical everyday sports car that could sprint to 60 mph in a shade over five seconds.First registered 15th March 2002 this example presented in silver cost £66,608 when new which included cost options such as Porsche stability management, 18 inch Turbo wheels, sound package and painted instrument dials. Delivered to its first owner in Ascot the accompanying service booklet shows 10 main dealer stamps followed by a further 9 services with specialists with accompanying invoices the last with Northway which was a major service with spark plugs in October 2021. We are informed by the vendor that the car also boasts new discs and pads, a recent bore inspection in March 2021, new Bilstein shock absorbers, springs and bump stops and has a modern Apple Play/DAB stereo fitted the original also suppled. Offered with full book pack and an MoT test certificate until September 2022. The previous owner was a mechanical engineer and the attention to detail shows, recently ceramic coated this is a lovely example of the 996 incarnation and viewing is highly recommended.

Alpine, once an independent company specialising in faster Renaults, and later a Renault subsidiary, established a fine competition history with the stunning Alpine A110, winning the 1973 Monte-Carlo Rally and World Championship. The successor was the Alpine A310 that was initially powered by a tuned 17TS/Gordini four-cylinder engine, the six-cylinder 2,664cc V6 option arriving in 1976. The A310 was labour intensive, having been developed for small-scale artisanal production, the basis being a hefty tubular steel backbone chassis clothed in a fibreglass shell. The engine was mounted longitudinally in the rear driving the wheels through a manual five-speed gearbox. With the weight a mere 980kg, the Renault Alpine was a fine performer indeed.   This rare example, which began life as a standard A310,  was the subject of a large article in Classic Cars magazine June 2019 edition. It is presented in white with black leather interior which was trimmed by a Renault specialist some years ago and looks great. The car was sold new to its first owner in France in November 1978, who transformed it into GT specification and in the history file is the original sale brochure which came with the car, albeit in French! Like so many seventies supercars, the massive wheel arch extensions were part of a Group 4 homologation overhaul intended to accommodate a new kind of motor sport-bred tyre, in this case, the Pirelli P7. Its all alloy wide angle 2.7 litre V6 is directly related to a Le Mans winner and fed by a bizarre looking combination of single and twin choke Solex carburettors. Its Alpine Fleschmann Nogano alloys were made exclusively for the GT pack by PLS and look superb on this ultra-rare French sports car. These Alpines were known for their steering which enabled drivers to use it to great success on Rallies and Hillclimbs throughout Europe. Its black leather interior also combines one or two hints that it was used at some point in its history for timed rallies with the presence of twin stopwatches and a timing device, although there is no suggestion or proof that it competed competitively in period or since! This is a superb opportunity to acquire a rare and exciting sports car from the 1970s which still looks very cool!Interested parties please note that this Alpine is a standard A310 and not a GT as described. It was changed to GT specification in the late 1970s by a previous owner in France.

Launched at the Geneva Motor Show in March of 1963, the 230 SL was a very different car to its predecessors. Intended as the replacement for the 190 SL, the 230 SL abandoned the four-cylinder engine in favour of a 2.3 litre fuel-injected, six-cylinder engine, producing 150bhp. The new engine was derived from that of the great 220 SE. The Paul Bracq penned body was an all-new, stylish design which became an instant classic. Beneath the skin, the running gear was conventional Mercedes-Benz, featuring independent suspension, disc brakes on the front and rear drums. Top speed was in excess of 120mph. Soon after the 230 SL was announced, Eugen Bohringer drove one to victory in the Spa-Sofia-Liège Rally. This impressive 1965 Mercedes-Benz 230 SL Roadster has benefitted from some noticeable tlc. The recently refreshed paintwork is in good order and presents well in white with a hardtop contrasting in black. The trim is impressive, and the car fired up on request. Offered to auction with a V5C registration document and a file containing various bills and receipts, this Pagoda Mercedes is keenly priced. These SL models were amongst the most-loved sports-tourers of their day and continue to be highly sought after by collectors and have recently seen a marked increase in values.
