1934 SS Motorsport Racing Award Plaque - a scarce SS sports award from a motorized unit meeting at Bad Reichenhall, constructed of zinc alloy and with inscription ‘Motorsporttreffen Der SS-Motorstaffel III/I in Bad Reichenhall, the award further depicting a rising sun with swastika shining down on the cross monument to Nazi martyr Albert-Leo Schlageter, dated 1934 – with three pierced holes where originally mounted to wooden base, the reverse with a recess which allows it to be hung on a wall *Military, political, civil and paramilitary organizations during the Third Reich created a wide variety of non-portable awards, mostly in the form of award plaques and table medals, but also including decorative plates, various kinds of trophies, and usable gift items. GERMAN MOTOR SPORTS: Rudolf Uhlenhaut (1906-1989) Anglo-German Engineer, associated with the Mercedes-Benz racing programme of the 1930s and 1950s. Designer of the Mercdes-Benz W196 Formula One racing car in which Juan Manuel Fangio and Stirling Moss raced, the former winning the 1954 and 1955 World Championships in the car. Vintage signed 8.5 x 6 photograph of Uhlenhaut in a half length pose leaning on the side of a motor racing car and accompanied by various other men. Signed ('R. Uhlenhaut') in red fountain pen ink with his name alone to a largely clear area at the base of the image; Fritz Nallinger (1898-1984) German Automobile Engineer & Executive, associated with the Daimler Benz company and their return to racing in the 1950s.
