Strange’, good very fine (15) £100-£140 --- Aubrey Edgar Calcutt was born on 27 April 1920 and attested for the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry on 27 June 1940. Sold with photographs and release book. Frederick James Boyce served in the 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, and was killed in action on 4 January 1945. He is buried at Hotton War Cemetery. Peter Wyatt, ‘Airborne Division, the 21-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Wyatt... has been wounded while serving on the Western Front. Before joining the Army two years ago he was employed by the Co-operative Society, Oxford.’ (contemporary newspaper cutting included with lot refers). Leslie William Strange lived at 50 Charles Street, Oxford. He died on 4 January 1945, aged 26, and is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Oxford.

Denis Irwin signed Manchester United 10x8 colour photo. Joseph Denis Irwin (born 31 October 1965) is an Irish former professional footballer and sports television presenter. As a player, he was as a left back from 1983 to 2004. Irwin is best known for his long and successful stint at Manchester United, where he established himself as one of the most important players in the United team that won a host of domestic and European trophies in his time there between 1990 and 2002. He has been regarded by Alex Ferguson as, pound for pound, his greatest ever signing. Earlier in his career he played for Leeds United and then Oldham Athletic, and finished his career with a two-year spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers, the club he supported as a child. A LARGE ARCHIVE OF PHOTOGRAPHS, LETTERS AND EPHEMERA, to 133104 F/Lt Albert Howley "Witt" Wittridge DFC RAF, 155 Squadron, pertaining to his career in the Royal Air Force as a fighter pilot, and his hobby of rallying vintage cars, to include: photograph albums; various aeronautical books; fourteen large black and white photographs of military aircraft, framed; letters from Vera Lynn; a watercolour of his 1934 M45 Lagonda sports-tourer 'AXO 773', framed; two copies of his own book "An Evil Boy" (one with presentation inscription); etc. (Qty)Footnote: born in Kingston Upon Thames in 1922, "Witt" was called up in 1941 and undertook pilot training with the RAF in Canada before postings to India, Burma, Egypt and Palestine, later becoming an instructor and then a test pilot before leaving the RAF in 1953. He continued to fly, as a civilian test pilot and then as a private aerial chauffeur, ultimately flying 120 different aircraft in his lifetime. In his latter years he worked as a meteorologist for Birmingham University. He died in 2009, aged 86

On page 7 of the 8 page issue, there is a full preview of the match, including details of the first Leg in London and almost all of the Chelsea players are mentioned individually. The name "Chelsea" is also included plus a picture of John Sillett exchanging pennants from the first Leg and portrait pictures of 12 Chelsea players underneath the review. On page 8 there is a picture of the England team about to visit North and South America and Italy. Good
