Documented as the last 20V, RHD, Ur-Quattro Coupé to leave the factory and with under 10,000 miles, remarkable.Very late production car and believed to be the last car ever20-valve RR, 2226cc, 217bhp and 143mphSuperbly presented in Pearlescent White with a mid-grey, full-leather interiorTwo keepers from new, the first for 17 years and the latter, our client, for more than 139,654 miles indicated, warranted by our vendorDocumented full service history up to 2008 and remained in a Carcoon since (regularly started with fuel changes). Long MOTThe value of 20-valve Quattros has been increasing exponentially and with "last car ever" status, this may well prove a wise investmentThe Audi Quattro may not have been the first 4wd production car (that honour belongs to the 1966 Jensen Interceptor FF), but its place in history is assured. Thanks in no small part to its enormous rallying success, the Quattro popularized all-wheel drive, and is now regarded as one of the most influential and important sports cars of the 1980s.The brainchild of Jörg Bensinger, an Audi chassis engineer, development work was started in 1977. Three years later the finished product was released. Although the floor-pan had much in common with the 80 and the running gear was largely taken from an Audi 200, the Quattro used a manual centre differential lock (operated by levers next to the handbrake) to govern the 197bhp and 210lb ft power outputs delivered by the 2.1-litre in-line five cylinder turbocharged engine.By the time this particular car arrived in 1990, the crude cable-operated 50:50 split differential had been replaced with a much more advanced Torsen (torque sensing) diff and the engine had been uprated with double overhead camshafts and a larger 2,226cc capacity, upping power to 217bhp.The car we present here is documented as the last Audi Quattro to be built with a letter of confirmation of this fact from the supplying dealers, in reference to a confirmation from Audi AG in Germany. Finished in crisp Pearlescent White with Grey leather, it's been in the ownership of just two keepers from new, the first for 17 years and the latter, our client, for more than 13 yet still displays only 9,654 miles, warranted by our vendor.Incredibly completely standard, it's still on the original Pirelli P700-Z tyres and with its original Blaupunkt radio/cassette player. It comes with it's original purchase invoice (£38,995), as well as four keys, the original dealer key-fobs and much more. No alarm or immobiliser were ever fitted in order to keep the car to standard. With a documented full service history up to 2008, almost all with Audi, when acquired by our vendor, it has since been regularly started during his ownership with fuel changes etc. but having been part of a collection and living in a 'Carcoon', it's not been driven. It presents to sale with 12 months MOT.Our car comes with a full Audi book pack, including it's service book, as well as the correspondence from Audi confirming it to be last 'Ur' built. The value of 20-valve Quattros has been increasing exponentially and this lovely example appears guided very sensibly, given its incredible condition, remarkable mileage and unrepeatable history.SpecificationMake: AUDIModel: QUATTRO 20VYear: 1991Chassis Number: WAUZZZ85ZMA000253Registration Number: J833 PPFTransmission: ManualEngine Number: RR001936 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 9700 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: GreyClick here for more details and images

Lot 459

A cleverly-engineered, hand-built re-creation of the pretty little 206SP using a 246 Dino as a base.A US-supplied, left-hand drive Ferrari 246 expertly re-engineered into a remarkable 206 SP re-creationChassis professionally modified in the US, 206 SP Alloy body constructed by Giordenengo in Italy to original specificationsFitted with a longitudinally-mounted, 206 alloy block engine understood to have been rebuilt with balanced crank and motorsport pistonsCurrently UK-registered as an historic vehicle, previously registered in Germany and on-the-button ready for useIssued with FIVA papers in November 2012, features in ‘Ferrari World Book’ chassis 01508 Type 246 Red Dino 206 replicaBody and interior beautifully restored in the UK by highly regarded classic specialists Sherwood RestorationsA beautiful machine with excellent road manners suitable for road or perhaps competition useLike its big brother, the 330P3, the Dino 206S was bodied by Drogo’s Carrozzeria Sports Cars and utilised a multi-tube frame with alloy panels riveted to it for additional stiffness, in essence a semi-monocoque structure. Ferrari’s intention was that 50 of the cars would be built, qualifying it as an FIA Group 4 Sports Car, but the financial difficulties that would lead to Ferrari’s merger with Fiat three years later prevented that optimistic goal from being met and in the end only 18 of these wonderful, quick, beautiful sports racers were built. Consequently, what started out as a Dino 206 S (for Sport) became known as the Dino 206 SP (Sport Prototipo).Offered here is a truly remarkable 206 SP re-creation constructed using a 1971 246 Dino GT as a base with the chassis re-engineered in the USA and an all-alloy body beautifully hand-crafted in Italy. This car started life as an American-spec Ferrari Dino supplied new in 1971 and at some point, when Dino values were at a low ebb, a high quality conversion was undertaken.Documents within the history file confirm that Jim Carpenter, a well-regarded Ferrari specialist based in Arizona, would be responsible for the Chassis modification and an all-Aluminium hand-crafted body would be commissioned by Giordenengo in Italy. The ’71 246 GT chassis was professionally modified to accept a longitudinally-mounted Ferrari 206 Dino alloy block engine which, we understand, had been uprated with ‘motorsport’ pistons, a balanced crankshaft, connecting rods and flywheel.Reportedly never raced, the car was exported to Germany with all copies of registration papers on file and later imported into the UK. Once in the UK, the car was subject to further attention from highly regarded classic specialists, Sherwood Restorations. The scope of work included some bodywork, a full re-paint in Rosso Corsa, a new custom-made windscreen (with a spare also produced which accompanies the car), a cabin re-trim and various other works to bring this fascinating 206 SP re-creation up to its best. It must be noted that the standard of finish achieved is remarkable and any inspection of this vehicle is highly recommended with no disappointment expected.Accompanying the car is an equally fascinating and detailed history file including a copy of the FIVA Identity Card granted in 2012, current UK registration papers (V5c), copies of previous German registration papers, details and invoices for restorations works by Sherwood Restorations, invoices from other more recent mechanical maintenance works, old MOT Certificates, correspondence between previous owners and Jim Carpenter, the Ferrari Owners Club UK and copies of paperwork from America. In summary, this is a very attractive, well-engineered, highly versatile 206 SP re-creation that can be enjoyed as a well-mannered sports car or perhaps used in competition. The overall quality of finish is remarkably good, the Targa roof can be removed and neatly stows in the rear, the visibility from the cabin is superb, the controls are light and extremely responsive, the engine fires on-the-button and sounds keen and healthy and we are informed that the handling at speed is sublime. It’s also worth noting that this example is recorded in the ‘Ferrari World Book’ – Handbuch Der Ferrari Seriennummern 1947-2007 which records ‘Chassis 01508 – Type 246 Red Dino 206 Replica’ which certainly underlines its provenance. To re-create this 206 SP replica today to this standard would cost a fortune, with a donor potentially costing as much as our lower estimate and we believe we believe, at this guide, this gorgeous little red Ferrari represents superb value.  SpecificationMake: FERRARIModel: 206Year: 1971Chassis Number: 01508Registration Number: FSP 716Transmission: manualEngine Number: 2.0/0015 Drive Side: Left-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 1019 MilesMake: LHDInterior Colour: RedClick here for more details and images

Lot 462

With a driver's mileage of 57,321, this lovely 456 offers a rare package of luxury GT motoring and a manual gearbox, V12 driving experience.First registered on the 01/03/1996 and finished in Nero with matching Nero interior, a rare combination for the 456Maranello Concessionaires Archive confirms that just 141 manual 456 GTs were supplied to the UK with a base price of £145,0005.5-litre, 48-valve, V12 derived from the Dino V6. 436bhp, 0-60 in 5.2 secondsThe odometer indicates 57,321 miles making the car eminently usable without having to be concerned about adding a few miles to a ridiculously low-mileage exampleSupplied to auction with book packs that includes the service book and an advisory-free MOT Certificate valid until 16th June 2022Very few cars at this estimate offer a 6-speed manual gearbox mated to a V12 engine with luxurious interior and a Ferrari badgeThe 456's looks are smooth and understated, and distinctive external features include a small grille with fog lights on the outside, bonnet-mounted air scoops, a motorised undercarriage spoiler that begins its deployment above 65 mph, and pop-up headlights, making this the last Ferrari to do so. By today’s standards the 456 can be viewed as the last Ferrari to offer uncompromising styling and luxury interior comfort. The model was warmly received by press and enthusiasts alike, and although not produced in large numbers was always gently in demand by 'silver-haired' Ferrari owners before it was eventually replaced in 2004 by the 612 Scaglietti. The Maranello Concessionaires Archive confirms that just 141 manual 456 GTs were supplied to the UK. The name '456' refers to the fact that each cylinder displaces 456 cubic centimetres and this was the last Ferrari to use this naming convention. Despite its supercar performance, 436bhp, 0-60mph in 5.2 secs, and a top speed of 188mph, the 456 has a relatively unstressed engine which has proven to be a very reliable unit. Developed during the Schumacher era, the 456's construction was ground-breaking featuring composite and aluminium bodywork, cutting-edge body to chassis mating technology, along with four-wheel electronically adjustable suspension, resulting in a super lightweight 1,690 kg. The Ferrari 456 had no direct rival, as it does today, the antiqued Aston Martin V8 was too bloated and the Porsche 911 was simply not special enough. When this 456 GT was specified in Nero coachwork with a matching Nero leather interior, it not only bucked the trend for the 456 but also the GT market at the time. Black paint was the preserve of aggressive sports cars of the 1980s, and by the mid-1990s the supercar market had moved towards a softer palette or established 'on brand' marque colours. Most Ferraris of the ‘90s either came in traditional Rossa Corsa (predictable), Giallo Fly (lairy), Argento (boring) or Nero, combining understatement and aggression in one colour. This car’s triple black combination beautifully offsets the aluminium instruments and open-gate gear shift like no other 456. Offered to auction with a history file that includes the book pack and the stamped service book. At the time of cataloguing the indicated mileage was 57,321 and the advisory free MOT Certificate is valid until 11th June 2022. At the estimate this car offers a unique opportunity to gain entry to the rarefied world of manual gearbox, V12 Ferraris whilst offering a relatively modern driving experience Whilst the rear seats offer limited long-range comfort to adults we can predict few rear passengers would turn down the opportunity to arrive in this lovely car. These cars offer real value, are comfortable, quick and are eminently usable allowing a new owner to enjoy spirted driving without being too precious about everything. A desirable 456, very sensibly guided and worth a close inspection. Two owners from new, fastidiously maintained and superbly presented in classic 'Gold Leaf Team Lotus' colours.Only two private owners from new. First from 1972 - 2014 when our vendor bought this special car through Silverstone AuctionsFinished in the iconic Gold Leaf colours made famous by Lotus Racing Grand Prix cars of the late sixtiesLarge history file illustrating that the first owner was meticulous in every little job carried out from 1972 - 2014Treated to a new chassis directly from Lotus Cars in 1992 fitted by renowned marque specialist Paul MattyJust over 79,250 genuine miles from new, in fantastic conditionA superb driving example of one of the finest handling of all British classicsThe glass fibre-bodied Elan may only have been available initially as a Roadster Kit but its specification was very advanced and adhered to Chapman's “just add lightness” engineering philosophy. Power came from Harry Mundy's Ford-based Lotus 1558cc DOHC engine (now a legend in its own right), it was fitted with disc brakes all round, and the independent suspension was set up to optimise ride quality and handling finesse, qualities for which this little car is still admired. It soon sired other derivatives including the Type 26R racer, the Type 36 fixed-head coupe, the Type 45 drop-head coupe, and the Type 50 Elan +2 of 1967. The 1971 Elan Sprint was essentially based on the Series 4 Elan bodyshell and was primarily designed to rekindle demand and improve the performance of the nine-year-old sports car. Conceived by Lotus Sales Director, Graham Arnold, the Sprint's most notable external feature was the horizontally split two-tone paintwork in half a dozen vibrant colours. Meanwhile, providing the 'go to match the show' a new big-valve cylinder head with high-lift cams and a raised compression ratio, the work of Engineering Director Tony Rudd, provided a 25% increase in power to 126bhp. The drivetrain was suitably toughened and braced and the front callipers were redesigned to cope with the increased performance which was brisk for the time with 60mph arriving in 6.6 seconds,100mph in 19 seconds and a top speed of 123mph.This particular DHC is a very special car indeed, having had only two private owners from new. Purchased new on 30th November 1972 by the first registered keeper from Roger Clark Cars Ltd, the original bill of sale shows that he put down a mere £20 deposit and agreed to buy the car for £1,867. He owned ‘GNR 628L’ from 1972 all the way up to 2014 when he asked Silverstone Auctions to offer it through our Race Retro 2014 auction. The current owner was the lucky buyer on the day and this pretty Elan has formed part of his significant collection ever since.Judging by the large history file, this car has clearly been treasured by its two owners over the years. In 1992, it was treated to a new chassis directly from Lotus Cars, part number LR2731, and this was fitted by renowned marque specialist, Paul Matty. Having covered just over 79,250 genuine miles from new, the car is in fantastic condition. The previous owner was meticulous in every little job carried out from 1972-2014, from mechanical components all the way through to the light fixings, this car has been carefully maintained as the pride and joy of two private collectors.Finished in the most appropriate Gold Leaf colour combination made famous by the Lotus Grand Prix cars of the era, GNR 628L will be supplied with a full year's MOT and offers its next owner a mouth-watering opportunity to be only the third registered keeper of this iconic and collectable little Lotus. We can confirm this special example drives superbly and is ready for its next owner to use and enjoy.SpecificationMake: LOTUSModel: ELAN SPRINT DHCYear: 1972Chassis Number: 72100806GRegistration Number: GNR 628LMake: Click here for more details and images

Offered directly from the collection of Richard Hammond, an early 2.2-litre, C-Series 911 from sunny California. The 1970 Model/Year cars were the first to benefit from the enlarged 2.2-litre engine125bhp, 911T delivered initially to California and remaining in left-hand driveClassically presented in Silver Metallic with polished Fuchs 5-blade alloysThe indicated mileage is around 56,000 which Richard believes could well be genuineIn lovely original condition, both inside and outPorsche's long-running and much-loved 911 sports car first appeared at the 1963 Frankfurt Show as the '901', but shortly after production proper commenced in 1964, it had become the '911' following Peugeot's complaints about the use of '0' model numbers. The preceding Type 356's rear-engined layout was retained, but the 911 switched to unitary construction for the bodyshell and dropped the 356's VW-based suspension in favour of a more modern McPherson strut and trailing-arm arrangement. In its first incarnation, Porsche's single-overhead-camshaft, air-cooled, flat-six engine displaced 1,991cc and the first of countless upgrades to the perennial 911 came in 1966, two years after production had commenced, with the introduction of the 911S and, in 1967, the 911T (Touring). Further revisions were made in 1969 when the 911's wheelbase  was extended by 57mm, which transformed the handling of the car and paved the way for the 911 to become one of the greatest driving experiences ever.  For model-year 1970, (production from mid-1969), the engines of all C & D-Series 911s were increased to 2,195cc. This, very early, left-hand drive, 1969 911 2.2-litre 'T' was initially delivered to California and appears to be in lovely condition, both inside and out. It's classically presented in Silver Metallic with polished Fuchs 5-blade alloys and the indicated mileage is around 56,000 which Richard believes could well be genuine, given the car's original condition.Early 911s possess a certain purity of line, particularly in bright colours, a complete world away from the aerodynamic extravagances of the eighties and nineties, and in terms of style, it's the early cars that engender the most appreciative glances. A well set-up and maintained 911T,even with only 125bhp, when driven with an intelligent right foot will provide some of the most quintessentially rewarding driving experiences you have ever had, and will leave you with a serious grin on your face! SpecificationMake: PORSCHEModel: 911Year: 1969Chassis Number: 9110100674Registration Number: TTU 283HTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 6106946 Drive Side: Left-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 56000 MilesMake: LHDClick here for more details and images

A genuine, UK-supplied (C-16), right-hand drive, 930 Turbo in wonderful condition with an impressive service history. UK-supplied (C16), right-hand drive, 3.3-litre Turbo in outstanding conditionSupplied new to the CEO of Kickers ShoesFinished in its original shade of Silver Metallic with Black HideRecent full engine rebuild by Ninemeister Warrington, fully documented with accompanying invoice for £28,645Interesting and comprehensive history file including the book pack, a large batch of invoices and MOT CertificatesWith 930 Turbo prices still gathering pace. This could prove to be an enjoyable and sensible investmentThe Porsche 930 Turbo was a genuine 'Supercar' that defined the Seventies and Eighties and was one of the fastest production cars available at the time. It was first seen at the 1973 Paris Auto Show and full production commenced two years later. The basic engine underpinnings came from the Carrera 2.7RS which was increased to 3.0 Litres and, of course, turbocharged with technology gained from Porsche's 917/30 Can-Am programme. The bodywork received special treatment resulting in one of the most aggressive looking Porsches ever made with its wide arches and impressive rear whale-tail and the brakes came directly from the Porsche 917 race car. This car is an early example of the revised 3.3-litre 911 Turbo that was first introduced late in 1978. The factory revisions included an engine increase from 3-litre to 3.3, as well as a larger turbo and integrated intercooler which was now incorporated in the infamous "Tea-Tray" rear spoiler. Further improvements were made to both the suspension and brakes to cope with the 300bhp that was now standard. It was the fastest production sports car of its day. Finished in its original shade of Silver Metallic with Black hide and rolling on a set of genuine Ruf alloys, this stunning 930 Turbo has been recommissioned in recent years to a superb standard. Its distinctive lines have been emphasised by a blemish-free full bare metal respray overseen by Zentrum Porsche, Nottingham and the deep level of shine and factory standard shut-lines illustrate their professional approach. The engine was fully rebuilt by Ninemeister Porsche in Warrington, in their words "completed to exacting, if not obsessively perfectionist standards"’ with the only change to standard being a set of custom-built 9M headers. The interior remains original throughout and is in excellent condition. If you have been pondering Turbo ownership then this is the opportunity to scratch that itch and experience an 80s icon in superb condition throughout. With the market for 930 Turbos continuing to gain strength we are delighted to offer this spectacular classic supercar that could well prove to be a sensible and enjoyable investment.SpecificationMake: PORSCHEModel: 930 TURBOYear: 1979Chassis Number: 9309700291Registration Number: AUL739TTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 6790305Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 86000 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Black leatherClick here for more details and images

First registered “1 WO” to Bentley Motors as a press car, one of 63 in right-hand drive and the only example in Sequin Blue.Just 63 right-hand drive Continental R Mulliners were built out of a total production of 148 carsBelieved to be the only example finished in Sequin Blue, the black leather interior is complemented by a turned aluminium dashboard with a subtle tintThe history file incudes factory build-sheets and the car was serviced and MOT'd at Bentley Bristol in December 2020Suppled to auction with an odometer reading of some 38,500 miles (atoc) and blue lambswool over-rugsVery few Bentleys have been registered as “1 WO” when new as this car was to Bentley Motors on 29/11/2001With regular fair weather use of his Rolls-Royce Corniche Convertible and the purchase of a new Bentley GT this delightful car is regretfully offered to auction by our enthusiast vendorIntroduced in 1991, the Continental ‘R’ was the first Bentley in 26 years to not share a body style with a concurrent Rolls-Royce and was inspired by the highly collectable Continental R-Type of the 1950s. The elegant two-door coachwork was styled by John Heffernan and Ken Greenley, a duo whose résumé included sports cars like the Aston Martin Virage. Five years later Bentley introduced a short-wheelbase version dubbed the Continental ‘T’ that was equipped with an uprated engine developing 420bhp and an impressive 650 foot-pounds of torque available at only 2,200 rpm. Bentley customers soon expressed interest in equipping the “wide-body” Continental R model with the T’s more powerful engine, and the Continental R Mulliner was consequently introduced at the 1999 Geneva Salon. The nomenclature was an homage to H.J. Mulliner, the British coachbuilder responsible for the original R-Type’s breath-taking fastback bodywork. The R Mulliner’s wide-body configuration offered spacious interior elegance, whilst the twin-turbocharged V8 could rocket the car to a top speed of nearly 170 mph, with brisk 5.6-second sprints to 60 mph from standstill. Individually tailored to customer order, the R Mulliner was Bentley’s ultimate 20th-century combination of luxury and performance, produced in a modest total quantity of 148 cars with 63 in right-hand drive. It's understood that this very handsome motor car is the only example produced in Sequin Blue, a shade of blue that represents modernity without vulgarity and a colour chosen perhaps deliberately by Bentley to represent their vision for the new millennium. It was first registered to Bentley Motors on the 29th November 2001 with the famous “1 WO” prefix, reserved for important launch or continuation cars and used for media purposes. Very few Bentleys over the years have been registered with “1 WO” and as the initials are those of founder Walter Owen Bentley, it is as good as an autograph in establishing any car thus-registered on the 102-year old Bentley family tree.  Complementing the rare shade of blue is the tinted turned-aluminium dashboard and inserts so very rarely seen in this model. The turned-aluminium dashboard has always been a feature of the sportier Bentleys, a nod to the 1930s racing Blowers, but can seem severe and industrial by today’s standards, this car’s subtle tint is both discreet and stylish, perfectly matched to the black leather seats and blue lambs wool rugs. After an exhaustive search for the 'right' Wide Body, our vendor, a lifelong Rolls and Bentley enthusiast, bought this car in July 2018, stabled initially alongside a very fine Rolls-Royce Corniche Convertible. However, since the recent purchase of a new Bentley GT and using the Corniche for fair weather motoring the reluctant decision has been made to offer the “Conti” for the next enthusiast to enjoy.  The car’s service record shows a majority of Bentley main dealer services and the most recent service was carried out by Bentley Bristol on 10th December 2020. Bentley Bristol issued the MOT Certificate which is valid until January 2022. The history file includes handbooks, receipts, RREC-supplied build-sheets and a copy of Car Magazine 2001 where the Bentley was reviewed by comedian Alexei Sayle. The odometer reading, at the time of cataloguing, is some 38,500 and it is the vendor’s intention to drive the car to the auction as one last hurrah.   SpecificationMake: BENTLEYModel: CONTINENTAL R MULLINER WIDE BODYYear: 2001Chassis Number: SCBZB25EX2CH01766Registration Number: DA51 ZBFTransmission: AutomaticEngine Number: 103193L410M/T2W Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 38500 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

Sunbeam asked Carroll Shelby to produce one functional prototype and this was fabricated by Shelby employee George Boskoff and sent to England for evaluation. The Tiger was born. After carrying out doing extensive engineering studies, the Rootes Group sub-contracted development and production to Jensen, located in West Bromwich and eventually, production of the Tiger totalled 7,085 cars.According to the Sunbeam Tiger Owners Club Register, this delightful example was manufactured for the UK market in right-hand drive in 1965 and registered to the first owner on the 4th January 1966. The detailed history file includes a copy Bill of Sale dated 10th April 1976 that confirms the sale of ‘EFY 129D’ to a Mr J.P. Bush of Oxfordshire for the princely sum of £570.00. An accompanying MOT test certificate states the mileage on June 10th 1977 as 82,412 miles. Mr Bush was to keep the car until 19th February 2016 when it was purchased by our newly retired vendor as a project. The car had been off the road in dry storage for some decades due, no doubt, to the original matching-numbers engine having seized. The Tiger is now fully returned to its former glory and, pleasingly, retains this original engine together with many other original parts. Our vendor has provided the following information on the mechanical restoration and upgrades:Engine302ci block bored to .030” oversize. 302 crankshaft re-ground to plus .020”. ‘Federal Mogul Sealed Power’ pistons with Moly slip rings. ‘Comp Cams’ High-performance street cam. ‘Comp Cams’ valve springs & lifters. 289 high-compression heads polished & ported with new hardened valve seats and guides. Fresh from a complete nut and bolt restoration, this lovely 1952 Roadster has just been run-in and is now ready for the summer. This 1952 Roadster was imported from Southern California just two years ago. Since been through a complete restoration, fully documented with photographs Converted to right-hand drive, brand new steering-box components and original right-hand drive controlsUpgrades include disc brakes, front and rear, a new servo and a bespoke Aluminium radiator More powerful 3.4-litre XK150 engine fitted, now fully rebuilt Bias towards the racing heritage with the addition of a Le Mans fuel filler, leather bonnet strap, period spotlights and the deletion of the front bumper bladesCompletely new interior, in red with leather-trimmed bucket seats "The engine pulls strongly, is silky smooth with no flat-spots, and starts on the button every time whether hot or cold."Fabulous restoration of a Jaguar Classic that bears a striking resemblance to NUB 120, the world's most famous XK JaguarA car-starved Britain, still trundling around in perpendicular pre-war hangover vehicles, glimpsed the future in October 1948 with the launch of the Jaguar XK120 at the Earls Court Motor Show. Production commenced in 1949 in Coventry, and the XK's swoopy shape and stylish occupants would become a common sight on British roads over the next 15 years. It heralded the arrival of Jaguar's famous 3.4-litre twin overhead camshaft XK engine, (the basis of all their engines for the next 25 years) with an alloy cylinder head and twin side-draught SU carburettors producing nearly 160bhp. Conceived during the war, the new six-cylinder was created by Jaguar’s chief engineer Bill Heynes and engine wizard Harry Weslake. As the firm tested various designs (labelled X for experimental and tagged G, H or J), it was a compact twin-cam four labelled ‘K’ that stood out. With two more cylinders added taking it to 3.4 litres, it became the engine that would power generations of sporting Jaguars for several decades starting with the XK120 The “120” referred to the car's top speed which, at the time, made it the fastest production car in the world. Jaguar seems to have always had a flair for marketing and to illustrate that the car's top speed was not a figment of a publicist's imagination, in May 1949, on the Jabbeke to Aeltre autoroute, an XK120 with its hood and side screens in place recorded a speed of 126mph, and no less than 132mph with the hood and windscreen detached and an undertray fitted. However, the most famous XK120 is undoubtedly Ian Appleyard's legendary 'NUB 120'. He was a director of the family car dealership, Appleyards of Leeds, and a talented rally driver. Using his alloy-bodied, privately-entered 120 and accompanied by his wife, Pat Lyons, daughter of Jaguar founder William Lyons, they enjoyed great results at International level in the Tulip Rally, RAC and Monte Carlo, however, it was their success in the Alpine Rally, finishing unpenalised three times in a row from 1950 to 1952, and becoming the first driver to win the coveted Coupe d’Or (Gold Cup), that’s most feted. Jaguar, of course, missed no opportunity to market the XK120’s success everywhere, Pathé newsreels, Sunday papers, billboards, the sides of London buses “The fastest Production Sports Car in the World”, motoring magazines, simply everywhere in the English-speaking world. With its catchy registration number, NUB 120, became a household name and is probably the most promoted individual Jaguar in the world. It still resides within the Jaguar Heritage Collection and is brought out a dozen times a year.Anyone looking at the striking XK120 Roadster on offer here can’t fail to notice the similarity to NUB 120 which, according to our vendor, the car's creator, is not entirely a coincidence. In his own words:"This 1952 Roadster was imported from the US just 2 years ago. It’s a Southern Californian car so was amazingly rust-free and proved a perfect candidate for refurbishment. It has since been through a complete restoration from end to end, fully documented with photographs taken every step of the way. It was converted to RHD using brand new steering-box components and a complete set of original RHD pedal controls. Along the way, there have been a few upgrades incorporated to help with safety and overall efficiency. Disc brakes have been installed front and rear utilising brand new components from Zeus Engineering along with a new servo system and a bespoke Aluminium radiator has been fitted and adapted for the engine which is now a fully rebuilt 3.4-litre unit from a later, more powerful XK150. The electrics have been upgraded utilising an original factory loom modified with additional relays and fuses, plus switches for the spot lights, indicators and manual control of the starting carburettor. An alternator has also been fitted allowing the rectifier to be deleted. A custom throttle-linkage has been created which allows for different pedal travel and provides much improved throttle response compared to the original rod-operated system. Finally, a unique custom twin exhaust system has been built which follows the later XK140/150 design but still retains the ‘look’ of a 120 at the rear with factory-looking twin pipes.Throughout the restoration process, there has been a biClick here for more details and images

A purposeful early Series 1, lightened and slightly modified for fast road with potential for competition use with further upgrades.US-delivered, left-hand drive Series 1 3.8 E-Type Fixed-head Coupe sensibly upgraded for fast road useA Briggs Cunningham tribute including lightweight panels, tuned suspension, Accusump and fuel cellPotential to be further developed for competition use with suitable upgrades, a good base for fun on the circuits or hill-climbsImported from California and accompanied by a large history file with details of the car's developmentOffered from a private collection, on-the-button with an MOT for peace of mind, well maintained and ready to enjoyOffered here is a rather purposeful looking, early left-hand drive Series 1 E-Type 3.8 upgraded for fast road use. Exported and sold through US distributor Jaguar Cars, New York and first registered in California in 1963, around 48 years later the E-Type returned to the UK. Over the years, whilst in the US, this lovely British sports car has been owned by some well known personalities including ex-Santa Pod champion – Clive Skilton. A member of the 'British Drag Racing Hall of Fame', he was a leading light in drag racing in the UK and, in fact, his first ever event was at Santa Pod in 1967 driving an E-Type. He moved to the US in 1976 and spent many years circuit racing and developing well-engineered competition cars.Skilton took the decision to set about a thorough restoration of this venerable E-Type and rebuild the car with some performance modifications, for fast road use or perhaps competition. Briggs Cunningham was a legendary American entrepreneur, Americas Cup skipper, racing driver and team owner whose distinctively coloured Cunningham CR cars appeared at Le mans on a regular basis. Finished in White with twin Blue Stripes his racing colours were later adopted by the US as the official racing colours of America. His last drive at Le Mans was in 1963 in an E-Type, naturally finished in white and blue, and Skelton decided to finish this car in those colours as a tribute to the 'larger than life' character. The restoration and improvements would be recorded in two large leather-bound folders which accompany the car detailing works from start to finish. Some of the modifications listed include; Roll cage, fuel cell, Accusump – for constant oil pressure, fire extinguisher, battery re-location with cut-off and some performance upgrades including uprated brakes, tuned suspension and custom exhaust. The bodywork was de-seamed and reprofiled and the car looks very impressive.Offered directly from a private collection and thoroughly enjoyed since 2015 we are informed by our vendor that the car fires on-the-button and performs well. The E-Type has been consistently well maintained and although MOT exempt has been regularly tested for peace of mind, the current MOT expires on 9th December 2021. Recent work includes a fuel system overhaul, braking system overhaul and electronic ignition, with invoices on file.In summary, this is a performance-focused, left-hand drive Series 1 fixed-head coupe which offers a rewarding driving experience and sounds like a competition Jaguar from the ‘60s. It could continue to be enjoyed on the road or perhaps, with some further development, used for hill-climbs or maybe even circuit racing.SpecificationMake: JAGUARModel: E-TYPEYear: 1963Chassis Number: 888565Registration Number: BHK 267ATransmission: ManualEngine Number: RA1837-9 Drive Side: Left-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 80571 MilesMake: LHDInterior Colour: BlueClick here for more details and images

A stunning D-Type Replica by Realm benefitting from a recent comprehensive recommissioning and significant expenditure.Originally built in 1990, this Realm D-Type replication utilises their accurately proportioned fibreglass body shell over a tubular steel chassisXJ-sourced, 4.2-litre inline-six engine fitted with triple 45 DCOE Weber carburettors, and a four-speed manual transmission with overdriveFinished in Ecurie Ecosse BlueOver £20,000 spent on a ground-up restoration during 2016Registered on the V5 as a “1976 Jaguar Sports”. Good history filePerhaps because of Jaguar's multiple Le Mans wins in the 1950s with it's D-Type Sports Racer and it's associated black and white newsreel coverage on a Saturday morning or perhaps, because the car's beautiful and distinctive outline was so easy to draw on the back of a schoolbook the D-Type has always represented to the world a real British Racing Car. Original competition D-Types have always been just beyond the reach of the average enthusiast, perhaps not quite the millions they now command, but just too expensive to realistically consider. However, for most people, the desire to own a car so evocative of the 50s, with such purity of line has never gone away, and consequently over the last thirty years a number of talented engineers have lovingly crafted replicas as part of a small business, or often, for their own enjoyment. One of these specialist builders, Realm Engineering of Honeybourne in Worcestershire, has built up a fine reputation over almost four decades for its RAM recreations. In particular, their Jaguar D-Types have benefitted from chassis design input by Reynard Racing resulting in greater strength and ultimately better road-holding. After a three-hour stint behind the wheel of a Realm D-Type, Sir Jack Brabham commented: “That’s a damn sight better than the original!”Originally built in 1990 by Classic Jaguar Replicas, this Realm D-Type replication utilises their accurately proportioned fibreglass body shell over a tubular steel chassis, with Jaguar XJ6 running gear, along with an XK-sourced 4.2-litre inline-six engine fitted with triple 45 DCOE Weber carburettors, and a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The car is registered on the V5 document as a “1976 Jaguar Sports” and still wears what is believed to be its original paintwork which displays a wonderful and authentic age-related patina akin to that of a period race car. The HPI check does show one colour change from red, though this is due to the donor car having been painted red rather than the completed D-Type having been repainted.Representing the realisation of a childhood dream, the owner and vendor of this Realm / RAM D-Type recreation is deeply embedded in the classic car community, and has cherished this magical tribute car throughout his ownership, having only covered around 500 miles despite significant financial expenditure over the years. In 2016, the car was subject to a ground-up restoration and engine rebuild by JC Performance, culminating in an invoice totalling £20,937.95 for work carried out. Highlights of this work include a full engine rebuild, treatment of any corrosion, carburettor refurbishment and setup, significant suspension overhaul, transmission strip down and inspection, a new clutch and brake system overhaul along with much, much more, all of which can be found in a well documented history file. The car is finished in Ecurie Ecosse Blue with the single white nose band as worn by the '57 Le Mans winning XKD606 'Long nose' car driven by Ron Flockhart and Ivor Flockhart. This Jaguar D-Type by Realm is in good order, mechanically excellent and a sure-fire conversation starter wherever you take it. A wonderful addition to any motorsport enthusiast’s collection, and a great way to live out your dreams of Le Mans on the way to the local watering hole.SpecificationMake: JAGUARModel: D-TYPEYear: 1976Chassis Number: 3A2634BWRegistration Number: WKZ121Transmission: ManualEngine Number: 8L35608 S Drive Side: Right-hand DriveMake: RHDInterior Colour: Blue LeatherClick here for more details and images

First registered on 22 June 1979 and supplied finished in glorious Regency Red with a black leather interior and black carpets. Today, this sought after and increasingly collectable early V12 XJ-S remains in superb condition mainly due to a period of time ‘off the road’ throughout the ’80s and ’90s.Within the history file is a signed letter from a previous owner outlining the car's interesting history. A brief summary of the letter shows that this XJS was purchased by Charlie Ross of Ross Frozen Foods and during his ownership, it would only be used for special occasions and eventually dry stored in the family garage as his wife felt the car was too extravagant. The XJ was purchased from the Ross family in the late ’90s after a period ‘off the road’ and recommissioned. In addition to the correspondence, the history file contains registration papers showing Charlie Ross and other previous keepers, old tax discs from the ’80s & ’90s and some old MOTs.Rarely do original, unrestored examples as good and well preserved as this come to market especially with low use and in good colours, and we hope that the new owner of this example will continue to preserve this luxurious British sports car for future generations to appreciate.SpecificationMake: JAGUARModel: XJ-S COUPÉYear: 1979Chassis Number: JNAEW3AC102530Registration Number: USW 33TTransmission: AutoEngine Number: -14727 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 9176 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

A beautifully restored, home-market Sprint FHC in Pistachio and Cirrus White.Home market, right-hand drive Elan Sprint Coupe, indicating just 53,000 milesBeautifully presented in the desirable Sprint livery of Pistachio over Cirrus WhiteReplacement chassis in 1997 then subject to an extensive restoration between 2001-2003Offered with a large history folder documenting the life of this remarkable exampleA fabulous little Lotus. Elan by name and Elan by natureWhen Colin Chapman was drawing up plans to replace the slightly troublesome Elite, he was intent on sticking to the glass fibre monocoque principle and using a Ford-based twin cam 1000cc engine. However, serendipity got in the way and a steel backbone chassis, designed for testing the prototypes - mainly because the mechanical parts needed to be attached to something for testing - had proved such a successful and cost-effective solution that it was adopted for production. Meanwhile, other larger variants of the Ford Kent block, up from 997cc to 1340cc, became available and Chapman was eager to exploit the potential for extra performance. So, by the time the 1962 Type 26 Elan Roadster took to the roads, it had moved up a class. The glassfibre-bodied Elan may only have been available initially as a Roadster Kit but its specification was very advanced and adhered to Chapman's “just add lightness” engineering philosophy. Power came from Harry Mundy's Ford-based Lotus 1558cc DOHC engine, it was fitted with disc brakes all round, and the independent suspension was set up to optimise ride quality and handling finesse, qualities for which this little car is still admired. It soon sired other derivatives including the Type 26R racer, the Type 36 fixed-head coupe, the Type 45 drop-head coupe, and the Type 50 Elan +2 of 1967.The 1971 Elan Sprint was essentially based on the Series 4 Elan bodyshell and was primarily designed to rekindle demand and improve the performance of the nine-year-old sports car. Conceived by Lotus Sales Director, Graham Arnold, the Sprint's most notable feature was the horizontally-split two-tone paintwork echoing the livery of the Gold Leaf Team Lotus Formula One cars. Meanwhile providing the 'go to match the show' a new big-valve cylinder head with high-lift cams and a raised compression ratio, the work of Engineering Director Tony Rudd, provided a 25% increase in power to 126bhp. The drivetrain was suitably toughened and braced, and the front callipers were redesigned to cope with the increased performance. The car presented here is a genuine home-market FHC Sprint model that was first registered in 1972 and is particularly striking in the more rarely seen Sprint livery of Pistachio Green over Cirrus White. We are advised that the car was fitted with a new chassis in circa 1997 and that between 2001-2003 it underwent extensive restoration. The latter involved a complete strip-down and re-spray, an engine rebuild (believed to have been done by marque specialist 'Nick Stagg Engineering'), conversion to unleaded compatibility, an overhaul of the steering, suspension and brakes, a new interior, and the fitting of a host of new parts (see image attached for details). An interesting history file accompanies the little coupe and includes a record of all journeys from 1979 at 23,377 miles through to December 1985 at 47,133 miles, showing just how cherished this car has been. In the years that followed, it appears that it was only lightly used after being restored, as by 2007 the mileage indicated was still just 48,000 (approximately) and to date is only 52,525. There is an invoice for a recent service at 52,498 miles, MOT Certificates from 2006 to 2018, plus numerous invoices for work/maintenance/parts (from 2002 up to 2018, totalling almost £15,000) from specialists 'Christopher Neil Lotus', 'Paul Matty Sports Cars', and 'QED Motorsport Ltd'. Furthermore, there are specific invoices from 2008 that might indicate further restoration, plus £3,131 spent with Paul Matty in 2012 for various maintenance items. There is no doubt that NHN 620K has received more than its share of care and attention and continues to look crisp and fresh. We understand that it's as agile and eager as a 'Sprint' should be and imagine that Mr Chapman, whose signature is etched into the steering wheel, would be proud that his inspired creation is as desirable now as the day it rolled out of Hethel all those years ago. SpecificationMake: LOTUSModel: ELAN SPRINTYear: 1972Chassis Number: 7110260379ERegistration Number: NHN 620KEngine Number: N25297Make: Click here for more details and images

Honda's 2nd-Generation, NSX hybrid-supercar with a massive spec and only 2,600 miles. An amazing UK-supplied, right-hand drive, NSX, 2,600 miles from new with its one and only owner3.5-litre Turbo V6 and three electric motors combine to offer 574bhpSlick, nine-speed, dual-clutch automatic box and four-wheel driveAlways serviced by Honda Chiswick – last in July 2020, fresh MOT and accompanied by all manuals, invoices etc.Amazing specification, total of £162,645 when bought new in 2017. Looking superb in Andaro Valencia Red Pearl with semi-aniline, full leatherHeated seats, Black Alcantara signature internal sport-pack, Interwoven machined wheels, Carbon-ceramic discs with red callipers, Technology pack & Car coverOn top of this the car has had a full clear wrap by Auto Wax Works - Bicester Heritage (£8,000.00), Red Dot number plates and a USA rear-diffuser (£675)Put simply, this is incredible value for money at this estimate and in this particular specification for what is, essentially, a barely run-in supercar! When the original NSX made its debut in 1989, it forever changed the supercar segment by offering dramatic 'supercar' styling, performance and dynamics and breaking new ground in terms of quality, ergonomics and usability. In November 2007, Honda announced plans to launch a NSX successor by 2010, based on the styling of the front V10-engined Acura ASCC (Advanced Sports Car Concept).Despite prototypes being tested for production, just a year later, Honda announced that plans had been cancelled due to the poor economic conditions. Instead, in March 2010 Honda unveiled the HSV-010 GT for participation in the Japanese Super GT Championship. This car never reached production as a road-legal car. Reports that Honda was again developing a successor to the NSX re-emerged in April 2011 and in December of that year it was official as they announced a second-generation NSX concept which was unveiled the following month at the 2012 North American International Auto Show for sale in 2016.Unlike the original car which was manufactured in Japan, the new NSX was designed and engineered in Marysville, Ohio ay Honda's plant, led by Chief Engineer, Ted Klaus. The new NSX is a hybrid sports car powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 and three electric motors, two of which form part of the "SH-AWD" all wheel drive system, altogether producing almost 600bhp. Fitted with a 9-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission, the NSX will arrive at 60mph in just 3 seconds on its way to 191mph. An astonishing car in its looks, performance, handling and its overall civility. This is an amazing UK-supplied, right-hand drive, second generation NSX with 2,600 miles in the careful hands of its one and only owner. This car cost our vendor £162,645 when he ordered it new in 2017 and the specification is incredible. It's finished in Andaro Valencia Red Pearl with Semi Aniline full leather heated seats, Black Alcantara signature Internal Sport Pack, interwoven machined wheels, Carbon-ceramic discs with red callipers, the Technology Pack and a car cover.Upon taking delivery, a further £8,000 was spent on a full clear wrap which was done by Auto Wax Works, based at Bicester Heritage. The vendor also had a private plate during his ownership so a further £675 was spent on fitted Red Dot registration number plates and USA-style rear diffuser. This special example has always been serviced by Honda Chiswick, and the last service was carried out in July 2020. Accompanied by all the manuals, invoices etc, a fresh MOT will also be issued in time for the sale.Put simply, this is utterly incredible value for money at this estimate in our opinion for what is, essentially, a barely run-in modern supercar at half-price! SpecificationMake: HONDAModel: NSXYear: 2017Chassis Number: 1HGNC1200HY730095Registration Number: LA17 LUBTransmission: AutomaticEngine Number: JNC11001007Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 2600 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Orchid LeatherClick here for more details and images

The 300 marked a post-war return to Mercedes-Benz tradition of building high-performance, luxury automobiles of the highest quality.Supplied new to Australia in right-hand drive, this rare W189 Type 300D Adenauer has benefitted from the warm dry climate and presents beautifullyFinished in gleaming Schwartz paintwork with extremely well preserved Bordeaux leather interiorA matching numbers example accompanied by its original book-pack with service book and driver's manualsBenefitting from a recent (200 miles ago) full inspection and service with a written report. No warnings or advisories and described as 'on-the-button'Imported into the UK with taxes paid on a NOVA with V5c applied for by our vendorA well-built, graceful, luxurious classic car rarely seen on British roads, an unusual discovery in such fine orderThe car of choice among West German government officials and was widely favoured by businessmen, financiers and politicians, indeed, 'Adenauer' became its unofficial model name, after German Chancellor Dr Konrad Adenauer, its most famous customer Daimler-Benz AG emerged from the smoking rubble of World War II in somewhat precarious health, with production plants that had been pretty comprehensively levelled by Allied bombing. Far from being a broken nation, the resilience of the workforce was remarkable and Mercedes-Benz resumed car production in 1946, albeit with the pre-war 170V, a modest middle-class car that had been their best-seller in the 1930s. However, in less than six years, the company was sufficiently confident to return to the luxury market when the Mercedes 300 was introduced at the 1951 Frankfurt Motor Show and for the duration of the Fifties, Mercedes-Benz prestige line-up was based on the 300 range, at the heart of which was essentially the same superb 2996cc overhead-camshaft six-cylinder engine found in the legendary 300SL 'Gullwing'.The 300 Saloon was aimed squarely at Captains of Industry and Heads of State - indeed, the model was nicknamed 'Adenauer' after Konrad Adenauer, the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany. In office from 1949 to 1963, he employed six custom convertible, hardtop, and landaulet versions during his tenure. Inside, the 300 was beautifully executed in polished wood, with deep bucket seats trimmed in either cloth or leather and a division was available as an option for those who preferred to be chauffeur driven. Improvements came with the 300B of 1954 in the form of twin Solex carburettors, along with servo-assisted brakes and minor styling changes while the 300C model of September 1955 saw the option of a Borg-Warner three-speed automatic for the American market. Introduced in August 1957, the 300d was the linear successor to the 300c, with a longer wheelbase, fuel injection, and unique hardtop configuration transforming it into a pillarless 'Phaeton'. An additional four-inches of wheelbase provided greater rear legroom, equalling that of the long wheelbase Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud. Removable rear quarter-lights allowed an unobstructed view in and out from the front vent window all the way to the back, much valued in the model's popular role as a 'parade car'. Employing a slightly detuned version of the 300 SL sports cars Bosch fuel injected engine, the 300D produced 180bhp at 5500 rpm. Automatic transmission was standard and power brakes, power steering, and Artic-Kar air-conditioning were added as options.Offered here is a truly magnificent 1959 Mercedes-Benz (W189) 300D delivered new in right-hand drive to Australia. Presented in Schwartz-black paintwork with a remarkably well preserved, luxurious Bordeaux leather interior this particular ‘Adenauer’ has benefitted from the warm, dry Australian climate. It's fitted with a matching-numbers, fuel-injected, 3.0-litre straight-six making 180bhp coupled to a 3-speed automatic transmissionConsigned from a private Mercedes-Benz collection and selected for its superb condition, the 300D’s bodywork has benefitted from some cosmetic attention with the underside also in good order as might be expected from a vehicle from a dry country vehicle. The inside is well-preserved and largely original, good condition, retaining the deep-red factory leather upholstery and the wooden door caps, veneers, Bakelite and chrome all present with patina commensurate with the car’s age. All of the controls, gauges, and electrics currently work as they should.Although MOT exempt due to its ‘Historic’ car status, the 300D was subject to a full Lubrication Service under 200 miles ago in 2020, with no warnings or advisories. The invoice on file details a full oil and filter change with engine flush and supply of new battery. The major service included checking; engine fluids, V-belts, brake pads and handbrake operation, engine ignition system, all electrical items, brake fluid and coolant levels. Also, a full inspection of underbody including; suspension bushes, steering system, exhaust system, prop shaft and couplings, fuel tank lines and wheel bearings. It's accompanied by a detailed history file including the original owners manuals, service book and the original tool kit. All taxes have been paid and the car comes with its NOVA letter from the DVLA and the V5 logbook has been applied for. Wearing its 62 years well, the 300D starts on-the-button, drives well, stops as it should with the body showing no obvious accident damage. This is an exceptional opportunity to acquire a truly remarkable 300D 'Adenauer'. Its commanding presence and stately manner are irresistible to both occupants and bystanders alike. UK-supplied and coming from 35-year ownership,10,000 miles since 1988 restoration by a Mercedes-Benz main dealer with private registration 560 DP included.UK-supplied with an automatic gearbox and registered on the 21/07/1969 to the first of four former keepers Bought by our vendor on 14/07/1986 at 14,600 miles for £6,700, according to the accompanying Bill of SaleThe car was sent to the then famed Dingles Mercedes-Benz classic car workshop in North Wales for a full restorationThe detailed history file notes extensive OEM receipts, labour and trimming costs for the white leather interior at over £20,000 at 1987 prices! An engine failure led to the dispatch by Mercedes-Benz Stuttgart of the believed last new and unused 2.8-litre engine in stockFinished in Signal Red with white leather interior, black canvas hood, red hardtop and period 1980s Alpine stereo With work commitments abroad, our vendor has used the car sparingly, covering some 10,000 miles since 1986Presented to auction with a detailed history file, including historical MOTs, the older restoration is in very fine order and the engine is barely run-in!The Mercedes-Benz 280SL 'Pagoda' was introduced in December 1967 and continued in production through until February 1971. The W113 was then replaced by its successor, the entirely new and substantially heavier R107 350SL. Over the years, the W113 quietly evolved from a nimble 'sports car' into a comfortable 'grand tourer' and was usually equipped with four-speed automatic transmission and air conditioning. The final evolution of the Pagoda was the 280SL, launched in November 1967 with a host of technical improvements, and is now seen as the most refined iteration of the W113 Series with the robust new seven-bearing, 2778cc, M130 engine developing 170bhp and perfectly suiting the automatic transmission. This smart example was UK-supplied with an automatic gearbox and registered on the 21st July 1969 to the first of four former keepers. It was purchased by our vendor, from the fourth owner on the 14th July 1986 for, the not inconsiderable, sum of £6,700. The accompanying MOT Certificate, dated the same day, shows the mileage at 14,573 miles. Online records lead us to believe that the car was registered as “560 DP” from new and our vendor has generously included the registration number in the sale, appreciating the historical connection with the car and regardless of the value of the number plate today. In 1986, and as a young man of just twenty-three years old, our vendor had repaired and sold a number of motorbikes and an MG to pay the £6,700 for the Pagoda and was starting on a career which took him overseas. During a visit home in the late Eighties, a con-rod threw itself through the side of the Pagoda’s engine. This devasting misadventure would’ve led many young men to get rid of the car, however, our vendor loved his 'Pagoda' so much that he decided to commission a programme of restoration works and sought from Mercedes-Benz a replacement engine, which he informs us was the last 2.8-litre "new and unused" engine from the Stuttgart factory. The car was sent to the, then famed, Dingles Mercedes-Benz classic car workshop in North Wales for a full restoration. The detailed history file notes extensive OEM receipts, labour and trimming costs for the white leather interior of over £20,000 at 1987 prices! The car remains today in very good order with some 10,000 miles covered since the restoration, and therefore one of the few Pagodas with an engine that has barely been run in. We note the fitment of a 1980s Alpine radio in the dashboard and perhaps we can allow this minor transgression to pass based on our vendor’s then age at the completion of the restoration thirty-five years ago. With a black soft-top in fine order and a matching hard top in the same condition as the car itself we must note that the Ivory leather interior has very little sign of wear and is trimmed in a high-quality hide that has aged naturally and sets the interior apart from the recently trimmed leather interiors of today. The odometer reading was some 27,783, at the time of cataloguing, and a total mileage that may not be warranted but is certainly believable and corresponds to the low mileage upon purchase and the sparing use over the past thirty-five years.Presented to auction with the aforementioned history file detailing the considerable sums expended during the late 1980s, a fresh MOT Certificate valid until 12th July 2022 and resplendent in Signal Red with Ivory leather, we welcome any inspection of this splendid little Pagoda. Freshly serviced, this manual gearbox 550 is in simply fabulous condition.Supplied in right-hand drive to Hong Kong by Auto Italia HK Ltd.Imported into the UK in 2012. Bill of Lading in the fileThe 48-valve, 5.5-litre V12 develops 485bhp at 7,000rpmUnusual but very attractive combination of Rosso Corsa with Bordeaux leather Approximately 26,700 miles with a comprehensive service recordJust returned from a full service and MOT at Ferrari Birmingham which included belts and a new Alarm Immobilizer System (£2000)Cherished registration number, F12 SSO, will remain with the carA fabulous example worthy of any inspection Firmly placed in Ferrari's history as one of their finest modern-era big GTs, the 550 Maranello's combination of elegant lines and legendary front-mounted 12-cylinder engine, meant that these cars had the potential to become instant classics. Following in the footsteps and sharing the DNA of the 365 GTB/4 'Daytona', the 550 Maranello is inevitability compared to its forbear. Few front-engined Ferraris have quite justified that comparison quite like the 550 Maranello.Styled by Pininfarina, like its illustrious predecessor, the 550 Maranello was similarly proportioned, adopting the classical combination of long bonnet, a small cabin and a truncated tail. Classic Ferrari styling cues include a bonnet air scoop and hot air outlets behind the front wheel-arches recalling the great Competizione Ferraris of the past, whilst the rear incorporates Ferrari's characteristic twin circular lights. The heart of any Ferrari is its engine, and the 550 Maranello's 48-valve, 5.5-litre V12 develops 485bhp at 7,000rpm. The powertrain was housed in a tubular steel chassis, to which was attached aluminium coachwork, whilst the all-independent suspension incorporated dual-mode (normal/sports) damping, switch-selectable by the driver, which was complemented by speed-sensitive power-assisted steering. The six-speed manual gearbox complements a slightly more even torque curve ensuring that the power delivery was a little less frenetic, whilst excellent weight distribution and delightful road manners make the 550 Maranello a truly refined driving machine, whilst still capable of almost 200 mph. With styling that is ageing particularly well, a high-quality cabin, generous storage and an enormous 100-litre-plus fuel tank, the 550 Maranello really is the consummate 'European Grand Tourer' in the true Ferrari mould. This sparkling 550 was originally supplied in right-hand drive to Hong Kong by Auto Italia HK Ltd. and first registered there on 1/08/1997. Some years later, in 2012, it was imported into the UK and registered here on 12/11/12. All the relevant shipping and DVLA documents are in the car's history file together with details of its two UK owners, all the MOTs and a 550 Instruction Manual. It's finished in the traditional Rosso Corsa but, unusually, the interior is in Bordeaux Red leather, a combination that you might have thought would clash when looking at the colour swatches in a dealer's office but, in reality, works really well. The odometer reads 4,471 miles which is the distance covered since the car was in the UK but prior to the KPH/MPH speedo-head change (Graypaul) we understand that it had covered some 34,000km (21,250miles) in HK, meaning a total mileage of less than 26,000, all supported by a comprehensive service history.07/04/98 1,000km Auto Italia Ferrari dealer HK Service31/07/00 10,000km Auto Italia Ferrari dealer HK Cam belts07/02/02 11,424km Auto Italia Ferrari dealer HK Service19/03/02 11,654km Auto Italia Ferrari dealer HK Service03/11/03 21,083km Auto Italia Ferrari dealer HK Service and belts28/05/04 22,845km Auto Italia Ferrari dealer HK Service27/11/04 23,578km Auto Italia Ferrari dealer HK Service25/02/06 25,578 Italian Motors Ferrari dealer HK Service06/11/06 25,988km Italian Motors Ferrari dealer HK Service and belts06/03/07 26,511km Italian Motors Ferrari dealer HK Service12/06/07 27,072km Italian Motors Ferrari dealer HK Cam Belts06/03/08 28,265km Italian Motors Ferrari dealers HK Service19/02/09 28,896km Italian Motors Ferrari dealer HK Service22/10/09 29,263km Italian Motors Ferrari dealer HK Service16/03/11 32,676km Italian Motors Ferrari dealer HK Service and belts22/03/12 34,814km Italian Motors Ferrari dealer HK Service22/02/13 81miles Bob Houghton Service and belts28/03/14 2,357miles Bob Houghton Service13/08/15 4,360miles Graypaul Nottingham Service and belts18/08/16 4,365miles Ferrari Birmingham Service29/08/17 4,388miles Ferrari Birmingham Service31/08/18 4,411miles Ferrari Birmingham Service and belts29/08/19 4,434miles Ferrari Birmingham ServiceWe understand that it's booked in to Ferrari Birmingham for a service and belts and will confirm at the time of the auction that this has taken place. A rust-free 1974 911 with a very cool 'Outlaw' look and a 'hot' 2.7 to 'S' specification engine.Purchased by our vendor from California in July 2017; upon arrival in the UK, it was thoroughly inspected and a work list prepared, the brief was to create a semi-lightweight hot-rod/outlaw-look 911 with a hot engineAfter inspection, the car was found to be completely rust-free and had never been welded; the 1974 911 2.7 is a relatively rare car, and is always popular with re-creators to build  1974 3.0 RS and RSR race replicasThe engine was removed and sent to ‘Carrera Performance’, where it was fully stripped and fitted with a new crank, barrels, and pistons (2.7), ‘S’-spec camshafts and a lightened flywheel, whilst the injection system was also fully overhauledA sports back-box and SSI heat-exchangers were also fitted, now giving a glorious sound; the body was painted in Porsche colour Crayon (to match our vendor’s new GT3), and it's had a full suspension geometry set upThe interior has leather buckets fitted, a bolt-in roll-cage and fire extinguisher, plus lightweight carpet and door panels/pulls, the front luggage compartment is trimmed with a Carbone carpet setThe Porsche 911 was developed as a much more powerful, larger, more comfortable replacement for the Porsche 356, the company's first model and essentially a sporting evolution of the Volkswagen Beetle. The new car made its public debut at the 1963 Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung, better known to English speakers as the Frankfurt Motor Show. After 11 years in production, the Porsche 911 received its first serious facelift when 'Model Year 1974' saw the introduction of the new torque-rich, smoother, cleaner, and more economical ‘G-programme’ 2.7-litre models, including the 150bhp 911, 175bhp 911S and 210bhp Carrera. MY1974 also heralded the dawn of impact bumpers to conform with the new US low-speed protection requirements. These bumpers being so successfully integrated into the design, that they remained unchanged for 15 years. These models also had new interiors with new seats and integrated head restraints, door trims and side window demist vents on the dash. In retrospect, the 1974 911 was the first ‘worldwide car’ that Porsche produced. The 1974 911 2.7 is a relatively rare car and is always popular with re-creators planning to build ‘74 3.0 RS and RSR race replicas. This example was purchased by our vendor from California in July 2017 and, upon its arrival in the UK, it was thoroughly inspected and a worklist prepared, the brief being to create a semi-lightweight hot-rod/outlaw-look 911 with a hot engine. After inspection, the car was found to be completely rust-free and appeared never to have been welded. The engine was removed and sent to Porsche specialist ‘Carrera Performance’ of Horsham, where it was fully stripped and fitted with a new crank, barrels, and pistons (2.7), ‘S’-spec camshafts and a lightened flywheel, whilst the injection system was also fully overhauled. A sports back-box and the popular ‘SSI’ heat exchangers were also fitted, helping the engine run cooler, and increasing both horsepower and torque in addition to sounding fantastic. The bodywork was painted in Porsche colour Crayon (to match our vendor’s new GT3), and it's had a full suspension geometry set up. The interior is fitted with high-quality leather bucket seats, a bolt-in roll-cage, fire extinguisher, lightweight carpet and door panels/pulls and the front luggage compartment is trimmed with a ‘CarBone’ carpet set.A properly-sorted classic 911 now with the ‘go and looks’ to warrant real admiration, the ‘Outlaw’ style is topical and rather 'cool' and this special 911 would be very welcome at any ‘Sunday Scramble’ or ‘Boxengasse’ gathering. SpecificationMake: PORSCHEModel: 911 2.7Year: 1974Chassis Number: 9114101665Registration Number: VMR 490MTransmission: ManualEngine Number: TBCDrive Side: Left-hand DriveMake: LHDClick here for more details and images

One of the rarest, modern-day Porsche special-editions; only two examples were allocated to the UK, just 2,800 miles from new.Porsche celebrates its return to top flight Le Mans with the 911 Carrera S 'Martini Racing Edition'Based on the 991 Carrera 2S, with the mighty 394bhp 3.8-litre flat-six engine and seven-speed PDK paddle-shift gearboxJust 80 Martini Racing Edition examples were produced worldwide (40 white/40 black), just two were officially allocated to the UK£19,000 more than a standard Carrera 2SThe bonnet, roof and rear wing get bold Martini graphics (in signature blue and red) whilst the Aerokit Cup body-kit adds a more intricate front splitter and fixed rear spoilerInside, there are yet more smatterings of blue and red, while Porsche’s sport steering wheel and Sport Chrono extras are standard. The option boxes for satnav, phone connectivity, a Bose stereo and electric leather seats are also tickedAs Martini is arguably the most iconic livery worn by any Porsche, a Martini-liveried Porsche can be found at the top of any enthusiast’s wish list. Worn by the dominant 917 and 935, this partnership was short lived, and the two brands separated in the late 1970s. Martini’s trademark blue and red stripes would not be seen on another Porsche until 2013, when a Martini-clad 911 GT3 RSR once again took to the track. For its road-going customers, Porsche quickly seized the opportunity to build a 911 sporting the same iconic colours. In 2014 Porsche released a special edition 911 to celebrate the manufacturer’s return to top-flight racing at Le Mans. The ‘Martini Racing Edition’ 991 Carrera S came courtesy of the Exclusive department. All Martini Racing Edition 991s were equipped with the 'Aerokit Cup', as well as the Sport Chrono package, PCM Navigation system, Bose stereo, full electric seats, sports steering wheel and numerous Martini-inspired interior accents. The cars were only offered to select European markets, as well as China, Japan and Latin America (interestingly not to the US or Germany). Only 80 examples were produced, and of those, 40 were finished black with the other half being finished in Carrera White.Delivered new to a UK customer, this particular Martini Edition Carrera S was seldom driven and has been kept in virtually as-new condition, covering only 2,800 miles in total. Purchased by its current owner in 2018 and forming part of a small collection, it remains in superb condition today and would be a worthy addition to any collection of rare Porsches.Professional images to follow soon (N.B. the registration 'D83 RRY' will not be coming with the car). SpecificationMake: PORSCHEModel: 911 991 MARTINI EDITIONYear: 2014Chassis Number: WP0ZZZ99ZES114598Registration Number: D83 RRYTransmission: PDKEngine Number: E14045 Odometer Reading: 2800 MilesMake: Click here for more details and images

Delightful, G50 gearbox-equipped, Carrera Cabriolet, recently fully refreshed.German delivered, left-hand drive example exported to Japan, where it remained in long term storage, arriving in the UK in 2016Post '87MY car that benefits from the more user-friendly G50 Getrag gearboxAttractively presented in Grand Prix White with 930 Turbo styling cuesExtensive program of refurbishment which included a respray in its original colours, full engine and transmission rebuild, new clutch and exhaust, brakes serviced with rebuilt callipers, discs and pads and the traditional Fuchs alloy wheels were refinished Reading just under 63,000km and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity and its original drivers manualThe 3.2 Carrera is revered as the ultimate development of the original 911 that first appeared in 1963. These final cars (before being replaced by the more complicated 964) were the most flexible and usable of Butzi Porsche's original design. Launched in 1984, and reviving the 'Carrera' name for the first time since 1977, these were the ultimate 1980s sports cars. The all-alloy flat-6 engine, which had been fuel injected since 1971, received a final stretch to 3,164cc, producing a torque-rich 231 bhp - enough to propel the lithe and slippery coupe to over 150 mph, with 0-60 mph coming up in 5.6 seconds. Cars built from September 1986 onwards were fitted with the more user-friendly G50 Getrag gearbox, but all 3.2 Carreras feature galvanized bodies, which together with Porsche's legendary build quality, ensure that these classics are long-lasting.Offered here is a beautiful, German-supplied (C-00), left-hand drive, 911 3.2 Carrera Cabriolet first registered on 18th March 1988. We can imagine that the first owner would have been rather pleased with their specification choice when taking delivery of this 911 in the spring of '88 ready for summer. This specification included Grand Prix White with black hood, heated seats, sport seats with electric height adjustment, electric hood catch, alarm system, and the newly-introduced G50 5-speed manual gearbox.Today this stunning, well spec'd, 3.2 presents beautifully and was reading just under 63,000km at the time of cataloguing. We understand it had been in long-term storage before undergoing an extensive program of refurbishment which included a full engine and transmission rebuild. Whilst the engine was out the bodywork received attention prior to a full respray in its original Grand Prix White. At some point the car has been fitted with 'Turbo-look' front and rear wheel arches adding to the appeal of this classic Porsche. The engine was reinstalled with a new clutch and exhaust, the brakes serviced with rebuilt callipers, discs and pads and the traditional Fuchs alloy wheels were refinished.Accompanying the car is a small history file consisting of the original driver's manual, Certificate of Authenticity, spare keys, the most recent MOT(expired in January 2020) and the current V5 logbook which mentions just one former keeper. In summary, this is an opportunity to take ownership of an original G-Series, 3.2 Carrera Cabriolet with a distinctive Turbo-look, that's well presented and maintained and has benefitted from significant recent expenditure.  SpecificationMake: PORSCHEModel: 911 3.2 CARRERAYear: 1988Chassis Number: WP0ZZZ91ZJS150646Registration Number: E132XUGTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 63J02201/M93020Drive Side: Left-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 62883 KMMake: LHDInterior Colour: Black LeatherClick here for more details and images

Very well preserved, ex-Patrick Collection, Golf GTi Cabriolet with just under 12,000 miles.UK-supplied, right-hand drive 1983 Golf GTI 1.8 Cabriolet with only 11,861 miles from new and just two previous ownersFinished in classic 80s colours with gleaming Arctic White paintwork, untouched white cloth sports seats and a white soft topBenefiting from custom-fitted seat covers from new, the seats are described as pristineOffered from 32-years long-term ownership, maintained correctly and always dry-storedEvidence of factory-applied Waxoyl still present on the undersideAccompanied by a detailed history file with receipts and invoices, a clean new MOT (June 22) and spare keysThe VW Golf is surely one of the most iconic 'hot-hatches' ever conceived. Its popularity has never diminished and a plethora of variants and styles have always been hungrily anticipated and universally enjoyed by the car's cult following all of whom treasure the next instalment from Volkswagen. Whilst many motorists today appreciate the exhilaration of roof-down 'wind-in-your-hair' motoring, few are willing to forego saloon-car comfort in order to enjoy it, however, the Golf GTi cabriolet makes any such sacrifice unnecessary having been designed and built by one of the world's most experienced builders of open-touring cars - Karmann of Osnabruck. Lower the hood - a simple matter of releasing two clasps - and you're ready to take advantage of every moment of sunshine which a British Summer can muster.Offered here is a wonderfully well preserved 1983 Golf GTi Cabriolet that once formed part of the 'Patrick Collection', a museum with an eclectic display of historically significant classic cars. It was first registered in August 1983 and today is showing a little under 12,000 miles on the odometer. It's presented in classic 80s colours with gleaming Artic White paintwork, untouched white cloth sports seats and a white hood. We are informed that the car has been maintained and dry stored correctly from new with custom fitted seat covers preserving the sports seats. The underside of the car still displays much of the factory-applied Waxoyl and there are no areas of corrosion to report.Accompanying this GTi is a history file with receipts and invoices for maintenance over the years including old MOTs and a current fresh MOT due to expire July 2022. Offered from long-term ownership, we understand that it starts on-the-button and still turns heads on sunny days Rarely do examples this good come to market and here we have a great opportunity to take ownership of a rare ‘drop top’ version of the legendary Golf GTi.
