A 1939 Rolls-Royce Wraith 25/30 Park Ward sports saloon project, registration number LMF 757, chassis number WEC 81, engine number D8 WZ.WEC 81 is an important part of Rolls-Royce history. This matching numbers Wraith was originally ordered by Sir Frederick Handley-Page who was a pioneer in aviation history and is perhaps best known for the Halifax bomber. WEC 81 was ordered in 1939 by Sir Frederick just before the outbreak of WWII with completion and registration taking place in 1941. With Park Ward sports saloon coachwork WEC 81 is the last Wraith completed. The copies of the original build sheets inform us that the car was fitted with four headlamp covers to comply with black out regulations, passenger division, sunroof and camouflage paintwork. Now being offered as a restoration project, the coachwork has been stripped of all paint, showing that the bodywork is fundamentally sound. The majority of other components are present apart from the interior and dashboard. The accompanying history file contains the RF60 showing that Sir Frederick was the first owner, copies of the original build sheets and order forms outlining the accessories and special requirements. There is also reference to Sir Frederick receiving a healthy 20% discount from the final bill. Other items contained in the file are a copy of an original owners handbook and general information. This important Rolls-Royce is an exciting project which offers an excellent opportunity to restore this significant part of Rolls-Royce history to its former glory. RF60, V5C, MOT and tax exempt See illustrationsAll lots in this sale are sold as is and bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding. A 1986 Alfa Romeo Spider 2.0 Veloce Series III, registration number C652 PKC, Silver. The Alfa Spider will always be synonymous with the film The Graduate and Dustin Hoffman the young man who is seduced by the attractive older woman. The seductive Pininfarina penned Spider was first seen in 1966 at the Geneva Motor Show and would remain in production until 1993, transforming through four distinct Series of evolution. This RHD Series III (1982- 89) example we have the pleasure of offering for auction has been very well maintained in the current ownership, with many thousands of pounds lavished upon its upkeep. To emphasise the attention this handsome Alfa has received, the interior has been fully re-trimmed in black leather with new carpets and matching black mohair hood all carried out by Piper Trimmers, Sparkford. The engine and gearbox were removed and checked over by the Haynes Museum Garage and a re-spray was undertaken. All of the works are documented and have achieved a thoroughly usable and attractive classic Italian sports car. Lot 40

A 1997 Lotus Elise S1, registration number L33 JTS, azure metallic blue. The S1 had a low production run of 8,613 over a five year period. Originally designed by Julian Thomas and engineer Richard Rackham, the new Elise was designed with the Colin Chapman ethos of a lightweight dynamically pure two seat no frills sports car which epitomised sure footed handling and road manners. Weighing only 723Kg, performance from the 1.8 16valve twin cam engine was entertaining with 60mph being dispatched in 5.6 seconds on its way to a top speed of 125mph. Innovation was the name of the game with the car featuring a GRP body bonded and riveted to an aluminium space frame, carbon vented disc brakes front and rear, and a mid engined layout, all of which gave the Lotus exceptional handling and balance. The majority of Elise production is reckoned to have seen some track day action, however this particular Elise has lived a much more pampered life having never seen a race track in its 21 year history. The car has had an easy life covering just over 62,500 miles from new living in a dehumidified garage when not being used. The car has full service history, personalised number plate and a colour coordinated indoor cover supplied by Classic Additions. The extensive service history shows what a well maintained example this is with a recent cam belt and water pump replacement at 62524 miles. Now reluctantly for sale due to our vendors health issues. V5C, MOT to November 2019 See illustrationsAll lots in this sale are sold as is and bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding. Lot 43

A 1934 Armstrong-Siddeley Special Burlington sports saloon, registration number DLH 779, chassis number 3349, engine number 599, maroon over black with gold coachlining. The Armstrong-Siddeley Special is indeed a special car. One of only 253 models manufactured, they were a final hurrah by the company prior to the outbreak of hostilities in 1939 and manufacturing for the war effort took precedence. They were squarely pitched against contemporary top drawer marque models such as Rolls- Royce Phantom III, K6 Hispano Suiza, Delage and Delahaye, finding favour with some of the most celebrated drivers of the time such as Sir Malcolm Campbell and S M (Sammy) Davies who both owned examples. The engineering and performance were exemplary for the period, with the five litre straight six engine crank cases and cylinder block being made of Hiduminium alloy mated to the silky smooth Wilson four speed pre-select gearbox, endowing the car with nearly 100mph capability. This particular Burlington sports saloon bodied Special has had a most interesting and charmed life, starting as one of two cars exhibited on the 1934 Earls Court Motor Show Armstrong-Siddeley stand ***(with unique white steering wheel)***. Chassis 3349 would then be retained by the company as a demonstration vehicle until registered to its first custodian a Mr W J King of Ottershaw, Surrey on 1st November 1936. Mr King passed the Special onto the Kensington?s, a husband and wife who both owned Burlington saloon Specials. The next owner a Mr Smith acquired 3349 from the deceased estate of Mr Kensington and subsequently sold the car to the classic car dealer Malcolm C Elder from whom our vendors uncle, a Mr T G Bidwell-Topham from Aintree, Liverpool purchased the car in 1982 and has remained in the family ever since. There is a comprehensive history file accompanying the car, including the original owners handbook, receipts from 1982 onwards, the bill of sale from Malcolm C Elder ( £10,500 ) extracts ( photocopies ) from various publications were 3349 has featured, correspondence between interested parties and more recent recent receipts (2008/present) for works carried out including an engine overhaul with new pistons and rebore, a new clutch, water pump, brake overhaul, new petrol tank and gearbox rebuild. This rare and imposing saloon is know offered to the open market for the first time in 37 years and offers an excellent opportunity for the discerning collector to acquire a piece of pre-war motoring history.V5C, MOT and tax exemptSee illustrationsAll lots in this sale are sold as is and bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding. Lot 51

A 1968 Ford Mustang coupé 289 V8, registration number NSC 161F, chassis number 8R01C150713, engine number 8R01C150713, yellow. NSC 161F is a very original, low mileage, matching numbers, notchback V8 coupé, which was imported from California USA in 2018. It was originally supplied by Maywood-Bell Ford, 6201 Atlantic Building, Bell, CA, to Joyce Scranton, one of two sisters who retained the Mustang within the family until the car was exported. The Mustang was used until 2001 clocking up a low annual mileage where upon it went into storage. The Marti report that is contained in the history file informs us that the Mustang was originally fitted with some factory upgrades including power front disc brakes, power steering, air conditioning (not currently working) tinted glass, remote control left hand mirror, tilt away steering wheel, AM radio (still working) and an electric clock. The coupé was built at San Jose, finished in yellow with a black vinyl interior and automatic transmission, the colour combination it still sports today. The odometer reading of just over 54,000 miles is confirmed with a sworn statement from the previous owner confirming the mileage at 53,812 miles on 18th July 2017 and numerous receipts with recorded mileages. This very original and genuine Mustang will be offered for auction with an accompanying history file containing the Marti report, the original and rare owners manual, receipts, the previous owner statement and previous MOT and new seat covers. Lot 54

A 1969 Lotus Elan S4 DHC, registration number PHL 450G, chassis number 45/8864, engine number K18424B, body number 7681M, red. Colin Chapmans Lotus Elan which appeared in 1962 set new standards for handling and style. With its stylish glassfibre body, new 16 valve twin cam engine, innovative steel backbone chassis and sophisticated suspension, it had no real competition making the majority of sports cars of the period look antiquated. Perhaps the only car to match the style, image and charisma of the Elan was Jaguars sublime E-Type. This particular Elan S4 has only covered a remarkable 28,000 miles from new in the hands of its three owners. Originally supplied by Normand of Bradford to its first owner a Mr J Dixon who retained the Lotus for a number of years before the car was acquired for a private collection and subsequently purchased by our vendor in 2004. The Lotus retains all those little things usually lost in a restored car such as the original supplied stickers. The only significant deviation from originality is a colour change from the original white to red by our vendor in 2005 which was carried out in his professional body shop. The Elan interior is completely as it left the factory with black vinyl seats and now faded black carpets. The engine, gearbox, chassis and running gear all are matching and even the hood is original with a crystal clear rear window. The accompanying history file contains correspondence from Lotus confirming matching numbers, images of the car being prepared for the respray, numerous receipts, previous tax discs, MOTs, the original service voucher book with two stamps and the original owners handbook. This beautifully presented low mileage Elan is worthy of inclusion in any significant collection and is a credit to its owner. V5C, MOT and tax exempt See illustrationsAll lots in this sale are sold as is and bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.
