He was also sports and news editor for the daily newspaper Paris-Presse.Chatrier was later President of the French Tennis Federation, a post he held for 20 years between 1973 and 1993, and was also President of the International Tennis Federation for 14 years, 1977 to 1991.Following his death in 2000, the main tennis court at Roland-Garros was renamed Court Philippe Chatrier in his honour.

A very rare Calgary 1988 Winter Olympic Games bearer's torch,maplewood handle with pictograms of 10 Olympic winter sports, steel torch bowl, 60cm., in excellent condition, in zip-up carrying caseThe flame was flown from Athens, Greece to St. John, Newfoundland. In 88 days, it was carried about 18,000km across Canada by 6,520 torchbearers sharing torches, about 150 were believed to have been made.
