British Sports and Sportsmen, Sports & Sportsmen Ltd., London [1908-1933], limited edition 997/1000, folios, thirteen-volume set, comprising Shooting and Deerstalking, The Story of Shipping, Polo and Coaching, Cricket and Football, Breeding and Agriculture, Commerce and Industry, Racing and Coursing, Hunting, Past Sportsmen (in two volumes), Golf, Athletics and Winter Sports, Modern Commerce, Motoring and Aviation, Athletics, Tennis and Rackets, full morocco, each individual front board stamped and picked out in gilt with title and Ex-Libris Cyril Aubrey Nicholson, marbled endpapers, tooled throughout, gilt-edged text bloc. Provenance: Cyril Aubrey Nicholson (1887-1955) was a leading Sheffield stockbroker in the inter-war years. In 1934 Nicholson bought Firbeck Hall, nr. Rotherham and spent £80,000 transforming the hall into a luxurious country club, epitomising this louche age. Membership fees ranged from three to seven guineas; and the members themselves were equally far-ranging, from the Prince of Wales (the future Edward VIII) to the ill-fated Amy Johnson. The BBC even transmitted its weekly show 'Late Night Dance Music' with Henry, Carroll Gibbons and Charlie Kunz. As with most things the Second World War brought the end to this decadence: the country club hosted the Sheffield Royal Infirmary and the Royal Air Force.

Stirling Moss. Typed letter signed with interesting content mounted with two pictures during races. Thank you very much for your letter and for including an envelope and postage. This is appreciated. I am enclosing a photowhich I hope you will like. It shows me a few years ago, and also shows two of the 84 different cars that I raced. One is a Grand Prix (Formula 1) Mercedez-Benz W196 which was capable of just over 270kph and the sports car is a 300SLR which and due to its streamling would reach nearly 300kph. Although these cars were the fastest in their day, the modern ones of the same catorgories are far easier round the circuits, due to the amazing advance in tyre and mechanical technology. In fact the tyres of the 50s were less than half the width of those used today. Yours sincerely, Stirling Moss. Professionally mounted in black to 16x12. Excellent. Good condition. All signed items come with a Certificate of Authenticity and can be shipped worldwide.
George Eastham signed World Sports February 1961 magazine. Signed on the front cover by the former English footballer. However, he is also notable for his involvement in a 1963 court case which proved a landmark in improving players' freedom to move between clubs Good condition. All signed items come with a Certificate of Authenticity and can be shipped worldwide.
