1975 MG B GT Jubilee Model Transmission: manual Mileage: 64303Conceived in the late 1950’s and launched in 1962, the MGB would turn out to be one of the most successful sports cars of all time. The B carried on MG’s traditional role of providing affordable sports car motoring for the ordinary enthusiast. The popularity of factory hardtops for its MGA predecessor and the success of the Coupé variant influenced the decision to produce a closed version of the MGB that would provide the increased practicality and refinement which was being demanded by the maturing sports car market. Styled by Pininfarina, the MGB GT coupé arrived in 1965 to be greeted by universal acclaim. The adoption of a stylish fastback bodyshell enabled the provision of two occasional rear seats which, when folded flat, created a generous load platform accessible by the rear tailgate. The more robust five-bearing B-series engine was fitted to the GT right from the start and when Abingdon finished production, over 125,000 MGB GT’s had been built. The MGB’s popularity remains undiminished, one of the major factors being the continuing availability of spare parts and expertise, making it one of the easiest classic cars to run and maintain.Originally registered on 1st August 1975, this Jubilee Model MGB has only had three former keepers from new. After a period in storage the car has recently been recommissioned and mechanically starts on the button and we are advised she drives well. The green paintwork will require refreshing and the wheels are also in need of refurbishment. However these limited edition MGB’s are well worth the time and effort. Of the 751 examples manufactured, one was destroyed in an advertising stunt that went wrong and it is thought about half of them remain. Complemented by V8 wheels and supported well by the various car clubs, this MGB GT is offered for sale without reserve.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 111

1970 Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Veloce Transmission: manual Mileage: 30601The first of Alfa Romeo’s Bertone styled coupés, the 1.6 litre Giulia Sprint GT, was launched in 1963. Mechanically the stylish new 2+2 was much the same as the Giulia TI sports saloon, featuring a five-speed manual gearbox, independent front suspension, coil-spring live rear axle and disc brakes all round. A 1300 model, the GT Junior, arrived in 1966 and the range was further extended the following year by the launch of the 1750 GTV, the latter powered by a 1,799cc, 118bhp version of Alfa’s classic twin-cam, four-cylinder engine, in a four-headlight version of the existing bodyshell running on 14-inch wheels. A short lived but nevertheless popular model, the 1750 GTV underwent a minor mechanical and styling revision part way through production before being replaced by the 2000 version in 1972. More powerful than the 1600 but sweeter running than the 2000, the 1750 is the choice of the Alfa Romeo enthusiast who knows their GTVs. Driver’s cars par excellence in the Alfa tradition, Bertone’s timelessly elegant Giulia coupés are among the most exciting sports saloons of the 1960s and today all versions are highly sought after. This lovely, rare, right hand drive Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Veloce is in very good condition throughout. A condition report written for a previous owner in 1998 tells of the body being restored and new wings fitted. Supplied new with Webasto sunroof with a very rare deflector, a clock and outside temperature gauge. This 1750 GTV has been very well maintained, and no expense spared by the two previous owners over the last 24 years. The car is finished in Biancospino with black interior and comes supplied with a UK V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in December 2021, a large history file containing invoices from Alfa specialist Gran Turismo, Andrew Thorogood and Titus Rowlandson of Victory Garage showing all the work carried out since 1998, old MoT’s dating back to 1996, the early condition report and an article relating to the Alfa GTV. The current owner has just had the Alfa Romeo GT Junior rubber over rugs fitted to protect the carpets, he also reports that everything works on the car. This represents a rare opportunity for an Alfa Romeo enthusiast to own one of these eminently collectible models.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 112

1988 Vegantune Evante Series 1 Transmission: manual Mileage: 33450Renowned worldwide for its successful racing engines, the Spalding-based firm of VeganTune diversified into car making in the early 1980s with the Lotus Elan-inspired Evante, a separate company - Evante Cars Ltd - being set up to handle its manufacture. Although Elan-like in appearance, the glassfibre-bodied Evante employed a stronger, tubular-steel spaceframe chassis rather than the Lotus’s backbone type and was powered by VeganTune’s own Ford-based VTA twin-cam engine. Producing 170bhp and 140lb/ft of torque from its 1.7 litres, this engine, with its belt-driven camshafts and accessible water pump, was reckoned much easier to maintain than the Lotus version. Only produced to individual customer order, the Evante failed to weather the late 1980s recession. After only a limited number had been made, the operation was sold to a consortium of Spalding businessmen, which continued production of the Evante 140TC. In the autumn of 1992, Evante was sold to another specialist vehicle manufacturer – Newark-based Fleur De Lys Automobile Manufacturing Limited – which re-engineered the chassis to accept the 1.8 litre Ford Zetec 16 valve engine. This rare example of this British sports car is presented in Metallic Blue with blue leather interior with attractive Walnut dashboard. The car has had just four owners from new, the last one keeping the car from 1997 to 2021. It was sent back to Vegantune main agent at 20,000 miles and was fully upgraded to Series 2 Sprint specification. This included new upgraded bearings and pistons, reworked big valve head and camshafts, twin 45mm twin choke carburettors, new stainless steel exhaust and upgraded Spax adjustable coil over shock absorbers. The car also benefits from a new hood and comes with its tonneau covers which are in good condition. There are two history folders accompanying the car with specification sheets, old MoTs and receipts for work carried out. It will be fully recommissioned by the present owner prior to auction which will include a full engine service and tune, brakes overhaul and a new MoT test certificate will be supplied. It is powered by the lively and great sounding 1700cc Twin Cam engine which provides exciting performance with great handling to match.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 115

1968 Sunbeam Alpine Series V Transmission: manual Mileage: 129519The Sunbeam Alpine was launched in 1953 as the first vehicle from Sunbeam-Talbot to bear the Sunbeam name alone, since the 1935 takeover of Sunbeam and Talbot by the Rootes Group. Ken Howes and Jeff Crompton were tasked with doing a complete redesign of the Alpine in 1956 with the goal of producing a dedicated sports car aimed principally at the US market. The Series V Alpine was produced from 1965 through to 1968, the final version having a new five-bearing, 1725cc engine with twin Zenith-Stromberg semi-downdraught carburettors producing 93bhp.This particular example is presented in traditional Old English White with a black interior and a black manual folding hood. The car sits on a set of Minilite wheels and the interior enjoys a walnut dashboard, wood steering wheel and its lively 1725cc engine is mated to a four-speed gearbox. This is the last in the series of these highly popular and pretty little British sports cars and are a delight to drive. This example is offered at no reserve and we are sure will be huge amounts of fun for the new owner.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 121

1997 Rover Mini Cooper Transmission: manual Mileage: 97298John Cooper was well known for his involvement, with his father Charles, in developing the post-war rear engine single seater 500cc race cars that ran amok and beat the larger front engine cars of the period. John is also later renowned for his development of the iconic Mini with the Mini Coopers cleaning up in high profile race and rally events in the 1960s and beyond.Offered today is this 1997 Rover Mini Cooper which has been part of a private collection for some time. The Mini benefits from a 1275cc engine which makes for a very quick little car indeed. Generally, in very good order this Mini is fitted with various upgrades including uprated alloy wheels and an Alcantara sports steering wheel. Complete with a sizeable history file detailing various work undertaken, many old MoT test certificates, and the current UK registration document. This is a small package with potential for lots of fun.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Lot 123

1983 Porsche 928 S Transmission: automatic Mileage: 71047These fabulous sports cars were unveiled at the Geneva Salon in 1977 and voted Car of the Year for 1978. It was intended as an upmarket replacement for the long-running 911 but in the event Porsche's rear-engined classic would outlive its younger sibling. The front-engined 928's stylish hatchback body featured aluminium doors, bonnet and front wings in the interests of weight saving, while ingenious impact resistant 'bumpers' made of colour matched plastic were incorporated into the nose and tail. A five speed transaxle gearbox or three speed automatic were the transmission options, in 1980 the 928S with its 4.7 litre engine arrived and then in 1986 the model was further revised and restyled, becoming the 928 S4. Its engine producing 320bhp courtesy of twin-cam, 16 valve cylinder heads and enlargement to 4,957cc, the S4 enjoyed a welcome top speed boost to 160mph.The car was originally supplied by Charles Follet Ltd of 18 Berkeley Street, London W1 and registered on 3rd March 1983 to Mr. Peter Bowles of Castlenau, London. This very low mileage automatic transmission example presents well in silver with contrasting blue leather upholstery. The car comes with its original Porsche wallet containing the drivers manual, service guide and the all important maintenance record, which is well stamped with a combination of main agent and specialist services. Offered to auction with a V5c registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until March 2022 viewing of this handsome example is encouraged. The popularity of these Porsches has increased over recent years and rightly so. This powerful, sleek and user friendly model is surely one to watch for investment potential.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 129

1987 Porsche 928 S4 Transmission: automatic Mileage: 113408Originally intended to replace the company's iconic 911, the 928 attempted to combine the power, poise and handling of a sports car with the refinement, comfort and equipment of a luxury saloon. The body, styled by Wolfgang Möbius under guidance of Anatole Lapine, was mainly of galvanised steel but the doors, bonnet and boot were made of aluminium to save weight. Polyurethane elastic bumpers were integrated into the nose and tail and covered in body-coloured plastic; an unusual feature for the time that was intended as both a styling feature and to reduce drag. In 1980, the 928S was introduced with a larger 4.7 litre engine and wider wheels and tyres, whilst in 1987, the engine displacement was further increased to 4957cc with the introduction of the now highly desirable 928 S4.This well presented example showing 113,408 on the odometer is offered in good condition and is one of the most sought after models of this iconic ‘yuppie’ car of the 1980s. Superb to look at from every angle, the howl of its powerful five litre V8 mated to its transmission is a triumph of German engineering and exciting to drive both on country roads and relaxing on longer journeys. Recently the 928 has been serviced and has had an extensive respray and as such looks fantastic. The history file contains various sundry invoices, MoT records and the current UK V5C registration document. Rare, desirable, and highly collectable!Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 133

1978 MGB GT Transmission: manual Mileage: 28835The fixed-roof MGB GT was introduced in October 1965. Production continued until 1980, although export to the USA ceased in 1974. The MGB GT sported a ground-breaking greenhouse designed by Pininfarina and launched the sporty 'hatchback' style. By combining the sloping rear window with the rear deck lid, the BGT offered the utility of a station wagon while retaining the style and shape of a coupé. This new configuration was a 2+2 design with a right-angled rear bench seat and far more luggage space than in the roadster. Relatively few components differed, although the MGB GT did receive different suspension springs and anti-roll bars and a different windscreen which was more easily and inexpensively serviceable. This lovely example presents well in black and should appeal to enthusiasts and first time classic buyers alike. It was purchased by the current owner as a project to keep his resident mechanic busy during the first Covid lockdown. His brief was to transform the car into this ‘Sebring’ style specification we see today. The car looks well with its sportier and more aggressive new look. This MG has benefitted from both time and money with most mechanical parts being upgraded or replaced and upon opening the bonnet you can see that nearly everything is brand new. The car drives well on its new wire wheels that feature new chrome spinners, the brakes have been upgraded and benefit from new drilled and grooved discs and calipers, and the stainless steel exhaust system is also new. The impressive look of this MG is completed with stainless steel sill covers and a new outer cover to the Webasto roof. Offered to auction with a UK V5C registration document, this MoT test exempt British sports car is both good value and easy to maintain.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. 1959 Austin Healey Sprite Mk. I ‘Frogeye’ Transmission: manual Mileage: 56123The Austin Healey Sprite is a small, open sports car which was announced to the press in Monte Carlo on 20th May 1958, just before the Monaco Grand Prix. It was intended to be a low-cost model that 'a chap could keep in his bike shed' yet be the successor to the sporting versions of the pre-war Austin Seven. The Sprite was designed by the Donald Healey Motor Company which received a royalty payment from the manufacturers, BMC. It first went on sale at a price of £669, using a mildly tuned version of the Austin A-Series engine and many other components from existing cars to keep costs down. The little Sprite quickly became affectionately known as the 'Frogeye'. The 43bhp, 948cc engine was upgraded with twin 1 1/8” SU carburettors. The rear axle was both located and sprung by quarter-elliptic leaf springs, again with lever-arm shock absorbers. There were no exterior door handles; the driver and passenger were required to reach inside to open the door. There was also no boot lid and access to the spare wheel and luggage compartment was achieved by tilting the seat-backs forward and reaching under the rear deck. This superb Sprite has been extensively restored to a good standard and as such presents in fabulous condition. The light blue coachwork is unblemished as is the interior. The hood is new and the car has been very well trimmed inside. Upon turning the key the engine fires up immediately and we are advised this ‘Frogeye’ drives every bit as good as she looks. These fabulous cars are remarkably simple and can be taken care of by any reasonably competent DIY mechanic. Parts are easy to obtain as the cars are well supported by the various owner’s clubs. Always popular when they come to market, examples as good as this will always create additional interest in the auction arena. Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. 1967 Alfa Romeo Spider 1600 Duetto Transmission: manual Mileage: 52747The Alfa Romeo Spider 1600, to give it its official factory name, was manufactured during 1966 and 1967. The name 'Duetto' came about from a competition held by Alfa Romeo to distinguish the car from its Giulia 105 series stable mates, the Coupé and Berlina, and was accepted for its reference to the two-seat layout. The Duetto name only applied to the 1600 model; two later variants, with different engine sizes, were the 1750 Velocé and 1300 Junior. All of the models are commonly known today as roundtail spiders. These advanced motor cars were fitted, as standard, with twin cam engines, five-speed gearboxes and disc brakes on all four wheels.Offered here is a unique opportunity to bring back to its former glory a rare and beautiful genuine 1967 Duetto Spider. First registered on 25th May 1967, the car was fully restored in the mid 70’s by the previous owner Mr. Frank Pollock who, after enjoying the car extensively, sold it on to the vendor in 1988. The car was a concours winner no less than six times between 1981 and 1992 and amazingly, much of its concours documentation remains within the car’s history file including scoring sheets, entries and pictures. Also included in the beautifully presented history file are photos of the bare metal restoration along with virtually all its tax discs and MoT certificates between 1977 and when the car was laid up in 1998. Several publications featuring the car are also supplied with the car, including a copy of Classic and Sports Car magazine from September 1984 with the car on the front cover and included in a five page article on the Spider models. Some may question how such a beautifully presented car, with two such fastidious long term owners, could fall into such disrepair. The story, an all too familiar one, is that the car, was put into the vendor’s garage, along with a Sprint Speciale (also featured in this auction), when he started spending more time working abroad. As his career blossomed, time flew by and unbeknown to him a tree branch fell and broke a hole through his garage’s roof. Further deterioration followed until the cars found themselves in their current state. Upon close inspection however, the cars appear to be in better condition than an initial glance might lead one to believe. The cellulose paint has survived very well overall, with both the boot and engine bay presenting very well. The interior, with some very rare elements, on the whole is salvageable, despite clearly needing a new hood.Supplied with its V5C logbook, original service book, instruction book, toolkit, history file, tax discs, MoT test certificates, magazine articles, restoration photos, concours history and many Alfa Romeo Owners Club magazines. This beautiful and most desirable of Spiders is complete and offers a rare opportunity for someone to put their own stamp on and to extend the previously illustrious life of this lovely little Alfa.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. 1958 Jaguar XK150 SE Roadster Transmission: manual Mileage: Although having a family resemblance to the XK120 and XK140, the XK150 was radically modernised. A one-piece windscreen replaced the split screen and the wing line no longer dropped as much over the doors. The bonnet was widened, opened down to the wings and on the roadster the bulkhead was moved back four inches to make the bonnet longer. In the interior, the XK140's walnut dashboard was replaced by one trimmed in leather. On the early drophead coupés, an aluminium centre dash panel with an X pattern engraving was fitted which looked similar to the early 3.8 E-Type. It was discontinued after June 1958. Thinner doors gave more interior space. The standard engine, the same as fitted to the XK140, was the 3.4 litre DOHC Jaguar straight-six rated at 180bhp at 5750rpm but most cars were fitted with the SE engine that had a modified cylinder head with larger exhaust valves rated at 210bhp at 5500rpm. Twin 1 ¾ inch SU HD6 carburettors were fitted. Four-wheel Dunlop 12” disc brakes appeared for the first time although it was theoretically possible to order a car with drums. Either wire wheels or disc wheels could be specified. Suspension and chassis were very similar to that on the XK140. These were high performance, well-appointed sports touring cars and could cope with long distances with alacrity. This superb example of the highly desirable SE derivative of this British classic is finished in iconic British Racing Green with green leather interior. The present owner has recently spent between £50,000 and £70,000 on its restoration which includes new leather interior, new hood and carpets to name a few of the extensive list of items which have been restored on this fabulous sports car. Its refreshed 3.4 litre engine is mated to a five-speed Getrag gearbox and performs strongly as expected and indeed as it should. This Jaguar wants for nothing and looks resplendent in its new paint colour. The history file contains photos of its restoration and includes the Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate which confirms that it is a matching numbers car sold by Jaguar Cars, New York in September 1958. A stunning SE Roadster which has just completed a meticulous restoration and really does have to be seen to be appreciated.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. 1988 Jaguar XJS Convertible Transmission: automatic Mileage: 16404In 1975, the Jaguar E-Type finally gave way to an all new and more efficient Jaguar, the Jaguar XJS. This new luxury grand tourer, although never quite having the same sporting image as the E-Type, was actually more aerodynamic with the final example leaving the production line on 4th April 1996. At that stage, 115,413 units had been manufactured during a 21 year production life. Power came from the Jaguar V12 engine with a choice of a manual or automatic transmission although the manual gearbox was soon dropped. V12 engine cars were unusual at the time with notable exceptions coming from Italian luxury sports car makers Lamborghini and Ferrari. The specifications of the XJS compared well with both Italian cars; it was able to accelerate to 60mph in 7.6 seconds and had a top speed of 143mph.This XJS V12 Convertible is presented in Satin Beige metallic with Barley hide and has incredibly low mileage from new. Also boasting low ownership, the first custodian kept the car until he sadly passed in 1998 when title was transferred to his widow who kept the car in long term storage for sentimental reasons. Old MoT certificates show that in 1996 the car had covered just 11,958 miles and by the time it went into storage a year or so later, the mileage had only increased to 14,214 miles. In June 2007 the car was then sold and recommissioned by the third owner, and an MoT in that year confirms the mileage at 14,813 and by 2008, the odometer reading was still only 15,036. The car was then once again put in long term storage where it remained until it was sold in 2014 and, again, recommissioned and fully serviced with an expenditure of over £7000.  The MoT test from March 2015 states the mileage as 15,163. Later that year, the owner decided to offer the car at an auction at the Car Fest show where our vendor, an avid car collector, purchased the XJS and has since used it sparingly, on high days and holidays, increasing the mileage to just 16,404. With care provided by Jaguar specialists Powerbell, low mileage and in stunning order, this is one of the best examples of the appreciating XJS convertibles on offer on the market today.Guide Price 18,000 - £25,000Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. 1965 Sunbeam Tiger Transmission: manual Mileage: 25140Inspired by the AC Cobra that was effectively the British AC Ace sports car powered by the large American Ford 4.2 litre, V8, the Sunbeam Tiger first saw the light of day in 1964. Based upon the Rootes Group, Sunbeam Alpine, the Tiger - with the Ford power plant slotted into the engine bay, it became what is surely one of motoring's true 'wolf in sheep's clothing'. Precise handling was retained by keeping the Alpine's rack and pinion steering with stunning performance due not only to the muscle V8 but also due to the lightweight Alpine shell. This very nice example was fully restored in 1984 and is presented in red with a black interior, a new walnut dashboard and has recently had new black carpets fitted. The present owner has looked after this wonderful and powerful British classic since his acquisition in 2015, making sure the oil was changed regularly and in 2016, he renewed the master and slave cylinders as well as having new shock absorbers fitted at the same time. Its black hood is in good condition and as well as coming with a good history file, this Tiger also comes with the all important buff logbook which most say is a classic’s birth certificate! Wonderful exhaust note from its 4.2 litre V8 must surely evoke memories for some and begin a dream for others. A great British classic with grunt to match!Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. 1993 BMW 850Ci Transmission: automatic Mileage: 138216Design of the 8 Series began in 1984 with the final design phase and production development in 1986. It debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show in early September 1989 and was designed to move beyond the market of the original 6 Series. The 8 Series however had substantially improved performance as well as a far higher purchase price. Over 1.5 billion Deutsche Marks were spent on development; BMW used CAD tools, still unusual at the time, to design the car's all-new body. Combined with wind tunnel testing, the resulting car had a drag coefficient of 0.29 and offered the first V12 engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox on a road car. It was also one of the first vehicles to be fitted with an electronic 'drive-by-wire' throttle. This BMW 850Ci is a well presented example offered in a desirable colour combination. Both the paintwork and interior are in very good order and the car comes complete with a history file containing the current MoT test certificate and the UK V5C registration document. Recently treated to a an extensive respray the BMW looks wonderful. A commanding 90's sports car representing great value especially with the prices for modern classic V12's ever increasing.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. 1967 Austin Healey 3000 Mk. III Transmission: manual Mileage: 91373The Austin Healey was one the foundation blocks for one of the 1960s' most charismatic rally cars with the 3000 Mk. I introduced in March 1959. Powered by an enlarged 2,912cc straight-six engine that developed some 124bhp and offered in two-seater (BN7) or 2+2 seater (BT7) configurations, the progressively improved 3000 metamorphosed through Mk. II and Mk. IIa guises before the arrival of the ultimate Mk. III BJ8 in October 1963. After the stratospheric rise in Aston Martin and E-Type prices, the next British Sports car currently seeing early signs of investor interest is the Austin Healey 3000 Mk. III (Phase II). Like its competitors, the 2+2 seater BJ8 proved a comfortable and fast grand tourer but has the benefit of multiple upgrades and the ability to win silverware whenever driven in anger, has elevated it above its rivals. Previously owned for 16 years by an Austin Healey collector who transformed the car into something very special having only travelled 4,000 miles (confirmed by documented MoT test certificates) whilst in his collection. The current owner continued to upgrade and improve with the addition of remotely adjustable 123 ignition system, uprated roll bars, a high efficiency radiator, cast aluminium sump, chrome wire wheels and new tyres. In addition, a new mohair soft top and tonneau were recently fitted by OTC together with a refurbished interior. The chassis has been thoroughly Waxoyled by Rawles Classic Cars who, incidentally, also completed all the mechanical upgrades. The car is stored in an air-conditioned cocoon and the bodywork and interior, like the mechanics, are in excellent condition. The engine has done 4,500 miles since being completely refurbished when a fast road cam and triple Weber carburettors on Denis Welch inlet manifolds were also fitted. An Aluminium ‘Stage 2’ lead-free head was fitted by Bill Rawles just 1,800 miles ago; together with Denis Welch exhaust manifold and system, new clutch, oil cooler and high torque starter motor. Not to be left out, the brakes have been improved with the fitting of vented rear drums. The engine specification, as you may have some inkling, is based on the Healey works cars that Rauno Aaltonen and Timo Makinen had prodigious rally success in driving for the Healey works team in 1964. All bills and MoT test certificates are contained in two comprehensive history files together with a spreadsheet summary (backed up by USB memory stick) of all work, costs and mileage. The quality and integrity of workmanship is impeccable with this superb example presenting in stunning condition. The thought gone into the upgrades are well-considered with no expense spared to workmanship. This now very special, fast-road example benefits from a Heritage Certificate drives beautifully and is, quite simply, one of the finest Austin Healey 3000, we have ever seen.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. 1969 Ford Escort Mk. I (1600) Transmission: manual Mileage: 68794The Mk. I Ford Escort was introduced in Ireland and the UK at the end of 1967 and made its show debut at the Brussels Motor Show in January 1968. It replaced the successful, long running Ford Anglia. The front suspension and steering gear were differently configured and the brakes were fitted with dual hydraulic circuits; also the wheels fitted on the Genk-built Escorts had wider rims. These models were hailed as an immediate success both domestically on the roads and for motor sport, particularly rallying/rallycross and hill climbing. A higher performance version of this iconic car was produced for rallies and a racing version was available, the Escort Twin-Cam, which were built for Group 2 international rallying. It had an engine with a Lotus-made eight-valve twin camshaft head fitted to the 1.5 litre non-crossflow block, which had a bigger bore than usual to give a capacity of 1,558cc. This engine had originally been developed for the Lotus Elan which had already proven itself in the market place, on the road and on the track. The Mk. I Escorts were incredibly successful and they eventually went on to become one of the most successful rally cars of all time. Only 883 of these rare sports cars were made. This fabulous Ford Escort was painstakingly built as a replica of the famous Mk. I Twin-Cam, thus resulting in the glorious white example we have here. Fitted with a Vulcan engineering built 1600 crossflow engine fed by twin 40’ Weber carburettors and mated to a highly sought after Tran-X straight cut gearbox, bucket seats, an all original shell and panels including flared Mexico arches, and uprated wildwood brakes, this example takes on a familiar guise as the infamous Twin-Cam rallying legend we know so well. The bodywork is in very good condition having been professionally stripped, treated, and resprayed and the paintwork is in excellent order showing very few blemishes throughout. Reported to run very well indeed, the engine sounds fantastic when on song. Offered with a sizeable history file with many invoices and photographs detailing the restoration, many previous MoT test certificates, various sundry invoices and the current V5 registration document. A fabulous tribute to the infamous Twin-Cam model, this wonderful car is ready to be enjoyed by a new owner.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. This new luxury grand tourer, although never quite having the same sporting image as the E-Type, was actually more aerodynamic with the final example leaving the production line on 4th April 1996; at that stage 115,413 units had been manufactured during a 21 year production life. Power came from the Jaguar V12 engine with a choice of a manual or automatic transmission although the manual gearbox was soon dropped. V12 engine cars were unusual at the time with notable exceptions coming from Italian luxury sports car makers Lamborghini and Ferrari. The specifications of the XJS compared well with both Italian cars; it was able to accelerate to 60mph in 7.6 seconds and had a top speed of 143mph. Originally registered on 3rd August 1990 this XJS Convertible has only had two owners from new and presents in beautiful condition. The Diamond Blue coachwork is unblemished as is the Doeskin leather interior, all of this is complemented by a blue hood. The first owner was a ‘Right Honourable’ gentleman who kept the car for 12 years, after which it was purchased by a very discerning enthusiast who has been equally diligent in the upkeep of this delightful example. Having covered a mere 35,812 miles in its 31 years on British roads this Jaguar is supplied with a V5C registration document, a current MoT test certificate and a history folder. XJS Convertibles have been increasing in value of late, a low ownership example such as this, together with low mileage and in fabulous condition makes this a highly desirable Jaguar. Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

1986 Lister Coupé (Jaguar XJ-S) ‘Chassis 001’ Press Car Transmission: manual Mileage: 9436Lister is one of the most renowned names in sports car racing history and the Lister-Jaguar, designed by Brian Lister, swept almost all before its first full racing season in 1957. From the early 1980’s the name has also graced some of the world's fastest road cars and in 1989, with the culmination of six years of development work, the Lister Le Mans arrived on the supercar scene. Christened 'Le Mans' to celebrate Jaguar's success there in the late 80's, the Lister totally transformed its Jaguar XJ-S base into a mega powerful 200mph supercar. The bored out 7.0 litre Jaguar engine produced a mighty 600bhp with an identical 600lbft of torque ensuring effortless acceleration in any gear. The name has graced some of the most important and fastest road cars in the world, after an agreement first with BLE Automotive and then WP Automotive saw converted XJ-S models marketed as Lister Jaguars.Offered to the open market for the first time in over three decades, chassis ‘001’ was registered on 28th October 1986 and originally used as Lister’s Press Car, featuring on the cover of Autocar Magazine in November 1986 which heralded ‘The return of the Lister Jaguar’. Originally built using a new seam welded, strengthened, XJ-S bodyshell and finished in grey over a cream leather interior with black carpets, this XJS was powered by a 5.0 litre engine. Lister later upgraded ‘001’ to its current specification which was documented and featured in Jaguar World Monthly. The specification included its Regency Red paintwork and tuned 7.0 litre Jaguar V12 engine with special nitride coated and dynamically balanced crankshafts. Fitted with a five-speed manual gearbox and many of Lister's typical improvements to the bodywork, chassis, suspension, brakes and wheels, the full Mk. III specification listed on file.In very good order throughout, the finish to the paintwork is excellent as you would expect with such a low mileage example. Accompanying the car is a history file detailing its important history which includes many sundry invoices, magazines features, previous MoT test certificates, the UK V5C registration document and a valid MoT test certificate. Offered directly from a private collection, this Lister has been maintained regardless of cost and serviced and exercised occasionally with the last full service, including all 12 spark plugs, undertaken at 8,999 miles. The vendor reports that the Lister will be driven to the sale and as such the mileage reading will differ slightly from the 9,436 showing at time of photography. This is a pure Lister and not to be confused with a Jaguar XJ-S conversion. A very special car indeed the 7.0 litre engine delivers a blistering 600bhp, the noise of which is earth shattering; justification enough to belong in any collection, let alone its rarity and significance as a part of Lister’s extraordinary history.

1971 Mercedes-Benz 230 SL Pagoda Transmission: automatic Mileage: 67526The Mercedes-Benz W113 roadsters, designed by Paul Bracq, were produced from 1963 through to 1971 and were known as the 'pagoda roof' SL. All models boast an inline six-cylinder engine with multi-port fuel injection. Rear-wheel drive configuration was complemented by independent rear suspension, a feature that greatly improved road handling. The 230 SL made a remarkable debut at the prestigious Geneva Motor Show in March 1963 where the famous German engineer Fritz Nallinger introduced it as follows It was our aim to create a very safe and fast sports car with high performance which, despite its sports characteristics, provides a very high degree of travelling comfort. This late Mercedes-Benz Pagoda example was originally registered in 1971 and is offered from a deceased estate. The beautiful car you see here today is the, nearly finished, culmination of the late owner’s restoration programme undertaken during his 17 year tenure of this stunning car. The recent paintwork is excellent as is the new carpeting and delightful retrimming of the interior. The matching blue hood is new and complements the high quality of the works undertaken. The car is accompanied by an impressive list of parts which we are informed should complete the restoration, this includes front grille, headlights with chrome surrounds, side glass, various rubber trims, badging and chrome work. At some point in the cars history it was fitted with a 2778cc Mercedes-Benz engine, this change is recorded on the V5C registration document which is present. Although the car runs, we are advised that the engine and brakes will need some attention to be fully roadworthy. Viewing is highly recommended; this desirable right hand drive automatic version is offered to auction at what can only be considered an extremely realistic price.
