KANSAS CITY BOMBERLife Magazine One-Sheet (26.75" x 40.25")Fine+ on Linen MGM, 1972On the June 2, 1972 issue, Life Magazine featured the fetching Raquel Welch as the cover girl to which MGM decided to release this unique special poster as a promotional tie-in for the film Kansas City Bomber.This poster on linen has had some touch-up work done to the fold lines, especially the upper vertical and horizontal lines. Plus, there is some light smudging in the top right, the right side edge, and the lower right edge. Other than some scattered creases, the poster is very clean.Centering around the then-popular 70s league sports entertainment Roller Games, iconic actress Raquel Welch plays a tough single mother and kick-ass roller derby queen. Woodcut publisher's "windmill" device by William Nicholson on the title, 12 full-page coloured woodblock illustrations by William Nicholson, full-page advertisement for "An Alphabet" with an illustration by Nicholson at the end. Original cloth-backed coloured pictorial paper boards (inner hinges broken, some fraying and minor loss to the rear of the lower backstrip). FIRST EDITION, first impression. The Artist & the Book 1860-1960 217: "Nicholson brought a simplification of design to English illustration. His windmill drawn for Heinemann's device on the title-page [of An Almanac] is still used by the firm"; "... The illustrations ... were boldly cut in linoleum and hand-coloured. The books [illustrated by Nicholson] had an immediate success. Dinky Pre-War Hornby Series Modelled Miniatures 22a Sports Car - red body with cream wings, cream dashboard & windscreen, unpainted wheels - overall Good Plus with considerable paint loss to right hand front wing & windscreen which is also bent out of shape and split at bottom left corner. Still an attractive example of this rare model.

Munkácsi, Martin -- Horseback riding at Wannsee. 1930s. 2 vintage ferrotyped gelatin silver prints on doubleweight paper. Each circa 24,5 x 30 cm. Each with photographer´s stamp on verso. Martin Munkácsi, born in Hungary in 1896, stands as a pioneering figure in the realms of fashion and sports photography. His groundbreaking work reshaped the world of fashion photography by liberating models from the confines of the studio, capturing their dynamic grace in outdoor settings. – Some creases, scratches and handling marks, one print with retouched lines in upper sky area and slight mirroring visible in dark areas, more visible at an angle, one with light rust stain in upper left, otherwise in good condition.

An antique Backgammon set. A backgammon and chess board box, leather bound as a two volume set of Wild Sports books. The hinged box covered in leather which is dyed red and beige and gilt tooled. The outside is for chess and the inside is for backgammon. The inside is also tooled and decorated in tan, red and black leather. The board comes with a wooden box containing wooden dice and a leather dice shaker. When closed it measures 25x45cm, H9cm, early 20th century.

MARILYN MONROE INTEREST; a pair of Raphael Rome c.1950's metallic silver heeled loafers, reputed to be the personal property of Marilyn Monroe, with a 5cm block heel, with half leather half steel plate to back, a silver tone hardware double 'C' and button snaffle detail to front, lined with cream soft leather, with gold tone printed logo to inside, with hand nailed leather tongue to base, and small '8' stamped to base. Provenance: The shoes are reputed to have come from Anna Strasbourg to the vendor in the 1980's, and were part of the inherited estate of the late Marilyn Monroe.A handwritten and typed note from the vendor and photographs of Anna Strasbourg outline the known provenance. The vendor was married to Elliot Kastner, and a family friend of Anna Strasbourg who was married to Lee Strasbourg, Marilyn Monroe's acting coach and main beneficiary to Marilyn's estate after her untimely death in 1962. After Lee's death in 1987, the estate, including the shoes, were inherited by Anna Strasbourg, who gifted the shoes to the current vendor. The rest of the estate remained in storage until 1999, when Christie's, New York, had a Personal Property of Marilyn Monroe auction. The shoes have been in storage in New York until this year. The letter is personally written by the vendor and comes with two photographs of Anna Strasbourg holding the 1983 'Brown Sports Yearbook', and two photographs of Elliot Kastner with Anna. Condition Report: With shoe trees, and an original poster for 'Marilyn The Musical 1983', from the Adelphi Theatre, London, directed by Elliot Kastner, featuring a drawing of Marilyn's face with a stylised signature.The shoes are in a worn condition with scratches to the leather on the inside edges of both shoes, the heels are in fair condition with signs of use and some staining. To the inside, 'Raphael Rome' is clearly visible, along with signs of wear. The base of the shoes have been worn, but all the nails are in place. There is a white simple cloth dustbag. The poster is in good condition with no staining or scuffs. Marilyn Monroe famously quoted 'Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world!'
