Many sports covered including Football, Golf, Cricket, Rugby League, Rugby Union and fund -raising events for Commonwealth Games, Olympics etc. Majority are housed in protective sleeves and include events all over the UK including at Manchester United, Manchester City, Eve of Final Dinners and many other events. Mainly 1980s and 1990s, some are signed. All are from the Neil Midgley collection. Italian daily sports paper "Tuttosport" dated 22nd October 1969, includes full team line-ups inside with large previews and history of previous Intercontinental Cup matches inside, plus main headline front page coverage. No programme produced for this fixture. Generally good
ALF FIELDS SCHOOLBOY ITEMS Three items: A Testimonial / Reference letter by the Headmaster of the City Borough of West Ham Pretoria Senior School in 1933 for Alf Fields, a 20 page magazine issued by the West Ham Juvenile Organisations Committee covering all sports and includes a Football Tournament for the Clapton Cup which was won by Alf Field's Team and a black & white postcard of the team group which won the cup. The letter is heavily folded and worn, the magazine has a horizontal fold and slightly worn and the postcard is very slightly creased. Fair to generally good
ROYAL & MILITARY INTEREST: A late Victorian parcel gilt silver calling card case, a gift from Albert Edward, Prince of Wales to Major Harry William Ralph Ricardo of the 17th Lancers, with 17th Lancers Motto gold appliqué and case back inscription, the interior with four pierced scrollwork dividers, including two spring loaded, Louis Dee, London, 1882, 4in.There are family documents showing that Harry Ralph Ricardo had regular correspondence with Albert Edward, Prince of Wales whilst serving in the 17th lancers. When in London, the Prince made a number of visits to the officers of the 17th Lancers at their barracks in Hounslow to play sports and shoot. Major Ricardo retired from the 17th Lancers in 1902 and became Adjutant Royal Hospital Chelsea from 1903-1917 and a Member of Honorable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms from 1903-1939 and became one of the bodyguards assigned for the protection of Albert after he asscended to the throne.
1950s Football Programmes: Small selection includes late 50s Manchester United homes v Real Madrid, Wiener Sports, Young Boys and Red Star plus 57/58 Liverpool v Southend FA Cup, Semi Final Blackburn v Bolton + Orient v Liverpool and 52 England v Wales.
