AUTOGRAPH ALBUM: An autograph album containing over 25 signatures by various golfers and entertainers etc., including Max Faulkner, Norman Von Nida (with a loosely inserted A.L.S.), Olle Karlsson, Neil Coles, Ronald White, Charles Ward, Kenneth Bousfield, Frank Nobilo, David Feherty, Ian Woosnam, Sam Torrance, Henry Cotton, Sandy Lyle, Padraig Harrington, Anna Neagle, Dirk Bogarde, John Blythe, Richard Attenborough, Arthur Askey, Jimmy Hanley, Patrick Waddington, Joseph Foreman (sports cartoonist known as Bos; two original pen and ink caricatures signed, 1946) etc. Some are on pieces laid down to pages (a few featuring printed biographies) and other pages have small attached newspaper clippings and portraits and various ink annotations in the hand of a collector. SULLIVAN JOHN L.: (1858-1918) American Boxer, recognised as the first World Heavyweight Champion 1881-92. An unusual vintage gentleman's shirt collar, with label of maker's Whitehill & Bigelow, inscribed in dark fountain pen ink by Sullivan, 'Compliments of John L Sullivan to whoever gets the collar, March 3 - 1907, To stop arguments, Size 21 inches'. With extensive staining and age wear, lightly affecting the writing. Professionally mounted on black alongside a bold pencil signature by Sullivan ('John L Sullivan's compliments, Boston, Mass,') on a white card and also alongside four different reproduction images of Sullivan in various poses. Framed and glazed in a plain black wooden frame to an overall size of 23 x 21. Rare. The collar only FR, the signed card VG Provenance: The collar was originally sold at auction by Christie's in New York in their sale of Sports Memorabilia on 26th March 1994 (Lot 168, Estimate $500-700). Their catalogue description states that the other side of the collar bears the sentiment 'The Noblest Roman of The All - Now will you be good - That's all'.
BOLT USAIN: (1986- ) Jamaican Sprinter, the first man to win six Olympic Gold medals in sprinting. A large nylon 60 x 36 Jamaican flag, boldly signed by Bolt in black ink to a clear area at the centre, adding 100 + 200 beneath his signature. Some light folds and creases, VG Provenance: Apparently obtained in person by a Sports photographer at this summer's Olympic Games in London.
SPORT: Selection of seventeen individual signed 8 x 10 photographs by a variety of sportsmen and women, each issued by The Westminster Collection as part of their Autographed Editions series, including Henry Cooper, Fred Trueman, Daley Thompson, Bill Beaumont, Virginia Wade, Graham Gooch, Sebastian Coe, Bob Champion, Willie John McBride, David Gower, Frank Bruno, Lester Piggott, Cliff Morgan, John Francome etc. Many of the images are colour and show the subjects in action poses relating to their sports. All are signed in bold black and blue inks with their names alone to the lower white borders and feature printed biographies and statistics to the verso. Contained in a custom presentation album. EX
