Sparkling little TD2 with only just over 200 miles since a comprehensive and finely detailed long-term restoration. The MG T-series, for most enthusiasts, epitomises the spirit of the Abingdon marque, delivering a blend of lively performance, vintage styling and above all, the sort of wind-in-the-hair driving experience one expects from a traditional British sports car. The original T-series Midget was launched before the war, evolving into the short-lived TB and TC models, before the TD was announced in November 1949, bringing with it the first major attempt at restyling since the end of WWII. With a track widened by some five inches to improve interior space, along with new independent coil spring front suspension and rack and pinion steering (sourced from the Y-type), the TD was sold with steel disc wheels in place of the previously used wire-spoked items and bumpers (with over-riders) were standard equipment as well. The interior was revised to make it more habitable but retained the flavour of the original T-series, with folding windscreen, full instrumentation, and a minimum of superfluous decoration. Powering the TD was essentially the same XPAG 1250cc engine in use since 1939, but an increased compression ratio from 1950 saw power up from 55bhp to 60bhp and, in July 1951, the XPAG received a new block, a new sump, a new bell-housing and a new flywheel in order to accommodate a larger clutch. The engine number prefix was changed to TD2, and MG TDs fitted with this engine have subsequently become known as TD2 models. With the sports car movement in the United States in full swing, it wasn't surprising that the vast majority of TD production crossed the Atlantic. Now finished in Old English White with the correct green grille slats and a superb Apple Green interior, this original, left-hand drive TD2 has undergone a chassis-up restoration and conversion to right-hand drive. Delivered new to California in 1952 before returning to the UK in 1986, the rebuild was commenced by a retired engineer in 1996 before finally reaching fruition some 25 years later in 2019. As is evident from our images, no stone was left unturned during this comprehensive and long term project from the chassis and body through all mechanical components to the trim and final detailing, all areas received fastidious attention. The sprung steering wheel looks original as do the instruments and switches, however, the dashboard and the door cards wear fresh Rexine and the bespoke monogrammed carpets finish off the lovely cockpit. As you might expect the engine bay is tidy and very impressive. The odometer currently reads 209 miles which we guess is post-restoration, so a further period of running-in is advised to bring the best out of this delightful MG. Some 70 years have passed since TD14680 rolled off the production line, however, it's once again resplendent in its traditional colour scheme and original specification including the delightful steel wheels as it would have been all those years ago. An instantly recognisable T-Series MG, extensively rebuilt and awaiting its next custodian.SpecificationMake: MGModel: MIDGETYear: 1952Chassis Number: TD14680Registration Number: XVV 741Transmission: ManualEngine Number: 10424Drive Side: Right-hand DriveMake: RHDInterior Colour: Green HideClick here for more details and images

Lot 753

The unashamedly driver-focused 968 Club Sport superbly presented in Speed Yellow. The standard 968 was a great all-round sports car, but as a last 'hurrah' to this enduring lineage Porsche wanted to create a car tailored more for the pure enthusiast and, in particular, one that would excel in competition. In late 1992, the 968 'Club Sport' was introduced and, whilst it was mechanically identical to the standard 968 and shared the same 3.0-litre engine (producing 225lb-ft of torque and 240bhp) and 6-speed gearbox (situated at the rear axle, which helped give the car it's excellent weight distribution), it differed in a number of important ways. This track-focused run-out model adopted the philosophy of 'less is more' by removing all luxury-related equipment from the basic build specification. With the no-frills approach, less weight and clever suspension, Porsche could now focus media attention on the Club Sport's fast road and track abilities. In total, just 1,923 CS examples were produced worldwide and it's now rightly regarded as one of the best driving Porsche cars ever madeFinished in Speed Yellow this exquisite Club Sport with its black interior stands out from the crowd. Designed for Porsche enthusiasts seeking track-inspired performance, this is one such example that certainly delivers. Cosmetically refinished in 2017 with new sills and front wings, the overall condition is now outstanding and beautifully detailed throughout, complemented by its black ‘Club Sport’ decals and 17inch Cup Alloys.Forming part of a large Porsche collection in recent years, the car is accompanied by its original tool roll and mandatory compressor, a comprehensive and detailed service history including the document wallet with service and handbooks and a photographic record of the body refurbishment. With Club Sports being on every Porsche collectors wish list, this is one example that is most certainly worthy of your very serious consideration.SpecificationMake: PORSCHEModel: 968Year: 1994Chassis Number: WPOZZZ96ZSS815104Registration Number: M447 VJLTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Right-hand DriveMake: RHDInterior Colour: Black / YellowClick here for more details and images

Lot 689

UK-supplied in the rare colour of Jet Black and presented in a simply stunning condition with bookpacks and historic DVLC paperwork. Unrepeatable - Offered Without Reserve.Conceived as a comfortable and long-legged Grand Routier, rather than an out-and-out sports car like the preceding E-Type, the XJ-S made use of the Jaguar XJ6/XJ12 saloon platform and running gear. Shorter in the wheelbase than its saloon siblings, the XJ-S debuted as a V12-powered Coupe. It was not until 1988 that a full convertible became available, however, and it was a marvel of engineering. It is fair to say that Jaguar took their time to perfect the convertible mechanism and such was its durability it was adopted by Aston Martin for the DB7 Volante. The 5.3 V12 Convertible produced between 1988 and 1991 is acknowledged as the XJ-S Convertible in its purest form.To the enthusiast, a car’s history is as important as its condition and we are grateful to the nephew of the first owner of this exceptional motorcar for providing the story as to why it was never registered. The car, finished in rare Jet Black, was bought new by Mr David William Jewett in 1989. Mr Jewett had a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cambridge and, whilst lecturing at Seale Hayne Agricultural College in Newton Abbott, restored and sold tractors on the side. His reputation was such that he acted as a consultant for both Massey Ferguson and Marshall Tractors.Taking delivery of the car from Jaguar main dealers H. A. Fox of Plymouth and with the new decade dawning, Mr Jewett decided to wait until 1990 to register the car on a 'G' plate, however, a major heart attack delayed the process. On the 13th September 1991, Jaguar Cars Limited prompted him to register it by supplying the accompanying application for a “Licence for a New Motor Vehicle and Declaration for Registration” together with a compliment slip signed by the regional sales manager David Stevens. Mr Jewett chose not to register the car and instead enjoyed it as a work of art, regularly starting and running the car up to temperature around his property. Mr Jewett’s nephew facilitated the sale of the car in 2009 with 73 miles on the odometer, four years later Mr Jewett passed away, and we are told he would’ve loved the attention this car is now receiving. The car remains unregistered to this day and the odometer shows just 100 miles. Bearing trade plates, the car clicked over to 100 miles on the journey from the local Jaguar main dealer following a service to the MOT testing station, who provided an advisory-free Certificate valid until 8th August 2023. It's presented to auction in a condition, as you can imagine, that is unrepeatable and ready for the road, the jack and cased tool kit is present. The green Jaguar wallet contains the handbooks and the service book is stamped and signed by supplying dealer H. A. Fox, made out to Mr Jewett and stickered with the car’s chassis and engine numbers. Included too is the main dealer service receipt dated 8th August 2022, the aforementioned registration application, corresponding Jaguar compliment slip, two cased cassettes and the spare key.SpecificationMake: JAGUARModel: XJSYear: 1990Chassis Number: SAJJNADW3DB164522Registration Number: TBATransmission: AutomaticEngine Number: 8S070090SADrive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 100 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: CreamClick here for more details and images

Lot 715

Fabulous, road/race Series I, faithfully built as a 'Semi-lightweight' with genuine motorsport celebrity provenance.Offered here is a 1965 Jaguar E-Type Series I 4.2 Roadster with a fascinating provenance. Selected as a straight, corrosion-free bodyshell, 1E11338 was entrusted to respected XK and E-Type specialist, the late Jeremy Broad, to be converted into semi-lightweight specification ready for competition use. Jeremy Broad’s competition workshop was situated not far from Browns Lane and Broad followed the specification of the two special-order, semi-lightweight cars constructed by Jaguar Works in 1964. Impressed by the success of the 12 full-blown Competition Lightweights built to compete with Ferrari and Aston Martin in International GT competition, two, presumably very persuasive, customers managed to talk the factory into building something very similar for them, a left-hand drive Fixed Head Coupé for a prominent French collector and a Roadster for Sir Robert Ropner (4th Baronet) in County Durham. Interestingly, it's believed that 1E11338 wears the original bonnet from the Ropner car, presumably removed when the car was restored in an age when panel gaps mattered more than originality.Purchased in 1991 by Manx Motor Racing Club Director, Graham Warwick, and registered in the Isle of Man as 1E MN, Chassis 1E11338 was entered into the 1991 Mountain Challenge, a prestigious event organised to commemorate Britain’s greatest road race the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy and the 30th Anniversary of the E-Type, to be piloted by Sir Stirling Moss. Sir Stirling was full of praise for the car, comparing his laps of the TT circuit in the E-Type with his races in earlier years on the Island’s British Empire Trophy course, saying “The car was pretty good, but it needs to be damped down a little, made more taught if we were going to try really hard!  It handled nicely, behaved quite well, and was comfortable”. As a result of Sir Stirling's observations, 1E11338 was then further developed by the legendary Peter Lander of Sigma Engineering in conjunction with marque specialists, Pearson’s Engineering, probably the world’s most famous preparers of C, D and E-Type Jaguars. Graham then went on to win the Manx Classic sports car event outright in this car.A decade after Sir Stirling’s time with 1E11338, the car was invited to Donington Park to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the E-Type, this time to be steered by Le Mans and British/World Touring Car star, Win Percy, who reportedly left his D-Type in order to drive the Semi-lightweight. 1E11338 also appeared nationally and internationally including an outing at Jarama in Spain. The 4.2-litre engine is currently in fast-road tune, with a Sigma head, performance cams and pistons, balanced crank, lightweight flywheel, hi-torque starter, triple Webers, Power-Lock LSD, adjustable shocks, Safety Devices roll-bar, uprated springs, lowered suspension, vented boot, alloy radiator and header tank, internal rear brake access panels, FIA-type foam-filled tank with alloy case and a five-speed gearbox (Jaguar’s later Le Mans E-Type lightweights had 5-speeed boxes in the 60s).This unrepeatable E-Type has recently been subject to a thorough mechanical overhaul and sympathetic restoration work which included fresh paint whilst thoughtfully preserving the original 1991 Manx Mountain Challenge decals. The history file includes a wealth of evidence supporting the fascinating provenance including an entry in the Peter Griffiths book ‘E-Type Factory and Private Competition Cars’. More recently, it has been invited to attend a number of prestigious events including the E-Type's 60th Anniversary celebrations and was chosen by the Schwetzingen Palace International Concours 2021 to feature in a series of paintings by artist Mauricio Franco to publicise the event. Further documentation within the history file includes; FIVA identity card issued in 2019, expired FIA papers issued 1998, signed images and correspondence with Win Percy, 1991 Manx Mountain Challenge official programme, correspondence between Graham Warwick and Jeremy Broad, a copy of Classic Jaguar magazine with a full feature titled ‘Perfect Pedigree’, Invitations to have the E-Type feature at Amelia Island Concours d’ Elegance, a copy of 1991 Jaguar drivers magazine with feature, many photos and clippings, race timing paperwork, old registration documents and copies and a wealth of invoices for recent attention. The car is absolutely on the button, performs well and will continue to turn heads outside the pub, at any classic car event or sat in Parc Ferme after a racing event and, despite its provenance and focused appearance, is remarkably well behaved on the road and docile in traffic.SpecificationMake: JAGUARModel: E-TYPEYear: 1965Chassis Number: 1E11338Registration Number: EOL 584CTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 13000 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: RedClick here for more details and images

Lot 655

A rare, emerging modern-classic Alpina D3 with manual transmission and low ownership, in lovely, original condition with less than 4,000 miles from new.Essentially, Alpina took the already superb E90 platform from BMW and added some special Alpina touches resulting in more focused, diesel sports saloon with a unique appearance and exclusivity for owners. Styling features included larger Alpina multi-spoke alloy wheels, a front air-dam and rear spoiler, revised cloth seat inserts, Alpina dials, floor mats and a plaque with the car's build number reminding passengers they are onboard something rather special. Performance upgrades included tuned suspension, re-mapped ECU, larger Turbo and intercooler and improved fuel injection resulting in just under 200bhp and just over 300lb/ft of torque, rather impressive from a 2.0-litre oil burner.Offered here is a beautiful 2008 Alpina D3 with just 3,555 miles from new and only one previous keeper. It was supplied new to the UK in right-hand drive and first registered in February 2008 specified in Graphite Metallic with manual transmission. The condition of this Alpina can only be described as remarkable and our vendor informs us that, to the very best of his knowledge (he purchased the car in 2020) all panels are original with factory paintwork. The interior also shows no indication of wear with nicely preserved Alpina trim and original Alpina mats. The D3 has only been used in fine weather conditions, dry stored correctly and, with such low mileage, must be one of the best remaining examples in existence.Although lightly used over the years, the car is accompanied by a comprehensive service record with its original book pack including service book stamped up-to-date by BMW workshops and independent specialists. MOT Certificates from every relevant year corroborate the mileage from new and the current MOT is valid until 28th September 2023.In summary, this is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a real emerging classic from a point in time when performance diesel automobiles were beginning to dominate endurance racing including Le Mans. A delightful, collector-quality Alpina with unquestionable provenance, concours potential and guaranteed to attract the right attention at any car show.SpecificationMake: BMWModel: D3Year: 2008Chassis Number: WAPD320007XL10607Registration Number: FJ57 CVGTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 3555 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Half Black Leather and Alpina ClothClick here for more details and images

Very late production 20-valve RR and believed to be the penultimate Quattro delivered to the UK.The Audi Quattro may not have been the first four-wheel drive production car (that honour belongs to the 1966 Jensen Interceptor FF), but its place in history is assured. Thanks in no small part to its enormous rallying success, the Quattro popularized all-wheel drive, and is now regarded as one of the most influential and important sports cars of the 1980s. The brainchild of Jorg Bensinger, an Audi chassis engineer, development work was started in 1977 and, three years later the finished product was released. Although the floor pan had much in common with the Audi 80 and the running gear was largely taken from an Audi 200, the Quattro used a manual centre differential lock (operated by levers next to the handbrake) to govern the 197bhp and 210lb/ft power outputs delivered by the 2.1-litre in-line five-cylinder turbocharged engine. By the time this particular car arrived in 1990, the crude cable-operated 50:50 split differential had been replaced with a much more advanced Torsen (torque sensing) diff and the engine had been uprated with double overhead camshafts and a larger 2,226cc capacity, upping power to 217bhp.Offered here is a very late production car and, indeed, it's believed to be the penultimate 20V Quattro delivered to the UK. First registered here on 17th January 1992, this lovely Quattro is superbly presented in Titan Grey with a mid-grey, half-leather interior and is one of only 295 right-hand drive examples. The Quattro has an indicated mileage of 95,821 at the time of cataloguing. During the current ownership, the Audi has been diligently maintained including an investment of over £3,000 with Audi and VW specialists, AM Cars, in March of this year, the full details of which are in the car's history file. The vendor has also recently fitted a Blaupunkt Bremen radio and the current MOT is valid until 13th June 2023. The history file is good and includes service records, detailed information of the car's life including an engine rebuild and a set of manuals. The value of 20-valve Quattros has been increasing exponentially and this super example appears attractively guided given its condition, sensible mileage, good history and the fact that it's one of the very last of these remarkable cars to arrive in the UK. Your early inspection is welcomed and encouraged to fully appreciate this very special Audi.SpecificationMake: AUDIModel: QUATTROYear: 1992Chassis Number: WAUZZZ85ZMA000252Registration Number: J680 SFATransmission: ManualEngine Number: RR001954 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 95821 MilesMake: RHDClick here for more details and images

At the time, the 599 represented the peak of modern Ferrari design, the GTB’s coachwork uniquely combining understatement and aggression. A civilised supercar for the discerning enthusiast. The Ferrari 599 succeeded its predecessor, the 575, in the summer of 2006 and brought the front-engined V12 Grand Tourer into the modern age. Whereas the 550 and 575, even at their introduction, always felt like modern classics, the 599 was every inch a new-age Ferrari. The all-aluminium chassis, F1 SuperFast gearbox, F1-Trac stability and traction control, magnetic semi-active dampers and carbon-ceramic brakes, all wrapped in aggressive, aero-optimised bodywork with minimal overhangs and maximum presence was a mission statement. Top billing, though, went to the engine - a lightly modified version of the Enzo's 6-litre V12 with a mighty 611bhp at 7600rpm, endowing Ferrari's new series-production flagship with truly sensational performance with 0-62 in 3.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 205mph. Of the 3,500 Ferrari 599 GTB F1 Fiorano produced globally, the United Kingdom’s share, as is the norm with right-hand drive Ferraris, amounted to under 10% of the total production.Offered here is a UK-supplied, right-hand drive 599 GTB finished in classic colours with Rosso paint, Nero leather carbon-backed sports seats and black carpets. Jersey delivered, UK-registered on 1st March 2022, MOT'd in October 2022 at 39,128 miles and an opportunity for cosmetic enhancement. Supplied with V5C, service book, manuals, main dealer receipts - Offered Without Reserve.Developed especially for British roads by Provide, the company which helped Colin McRae, Richard Burns and Petter Solberg become World Rally Champions. Aerodynamically honed by Peter Stevens of McLaren F1 fame and based around a lighter and stiffer two-door bodyshell, the limited edition Prodrive One, abbreviated to P1, had more in common with the legendary 22B than its lesser four-door Subaru Impreza WRX siblings. All were painted in Sonic Blue and using the WRX STi Type R as a base, Prodrive engineers installed the anti-roll bars from the European-specification Impreza Turbo, along with firmer springs and shock absorbers, to deliver a suspension set up better suited to continental roads. The cars also featured ABS, as well as the Peter Stevens-designed anthracite OZ Racing wheels, front spoiler and rear wing. The car is powered by a revised version of the rally engine with re-calibrated electronics and developing no less than 280bhp, 69bhp more than the standard Impreza Turbo. With a big-bore exhaust, quick-shift gear linkage, 17” titanium-finish alloy wheels and a rally proven suspension set-up, the Impreza P1 limited run of 1,000 examples gained an instant cult following. As an eminently drivable sports-saloon very few examples of the P1 are available in today’s market that do not have six-figure odometer readings, crash damage or heavy modifications. As such, this 39,229 mile Impreza P1 offers a rare opportunity to cosmetically enhance a modern classic. It was supplied by Subaru main dealer Mauger’s Garage Ltd. of Jersey and subsequently serviced by them up until 2018 as evidenced by the stamped service book. Further maintenance receipts show in the name of the first owner and dated 2018 are included in the history file. Imported to the UK mainland and registered with the DVLA on 1st March 2022, it appears the car has been in storage and will be supplied to auction with a fresh MOT. The handbook wallet includes the original service book and owners manuals, aforementioned receipts, previous MOT Certificate and UK V5C.SpecificationMake: SUBARUModel: IMPREZAYear: 2000Chassis Number: JF1GM8KDGYG002543Registration Number: W863 XAATransmission: ManualEngine Number: 810284Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 39129 MilesMake: RHDClick here for more details and images

An early, Pre-A Speedster on a set of Rudge knock-off alloys, one of the most collectable Porsches of all time.Porsche’s remarkable 356 put the Zuffenhausen Company firmly on the automotive map in the 1950s, with Dr Ferdinand’s original design - a somewhat basic sports car closely based on Volkswagen’s Beetle - evolving into a technically advanced, beautifully resolved machine over a production life spanning more than 15 years.  The earliest 356s were powered by a Volkswagen-derived flat-four displacing 1068cc and rated at 40hp, but the 1300cc engine became an option from 1951 onwards.  In 1952, the body was refined with a one-piece windscreen (bent in the middle) and revised bumpers, while a new 1488cc engine became available with a roller-bearing crankshaft, twin Solex carburettors and a handy 60bhp on tap.  Other improvements included duplex front brakes, a rear parcel shelf and revised instrumentation (the tacho became standard).  Stronger brakes, full synchromesh gearboxes across the range and a new two-spoke steering wheel appeared in 1953 and two new 1500cc engines were introduced, the 55bhp standard unit and the 70bhp 'Super'.  Sold in Coupé, Cabriolet and Speedster variants, the so-called ‘Pre-A’ 356 is highly prized amongst collectors for its rarity and purity of design. Built at the instigation of Porsche’s North American distributor, Max Hoffman, the original Speedster was a stripped down, open-topped version of the 356 and became very successful in North America as a dual-purpose sports car, proving popular with amateur racing drivers competing in SCCA events.  Porsche built approximately 920 Pre-A Speedsters before adopting the new Type 616/1 and 616/2 engines in October 1955 and a total of 1,234 Pre-A cars were made prior to the official introduction of the 356A in January 1956. The left-hand drive Speedster we have on offer here is an early one, indeed it’s the 347th car produced and the accompanying Kardex card confirms that it was completed on 3rd March 1955 prior to being delivered to Hoffman’s in New York City.Little is known about the car's early history although it has been enjoyed by its current owner for more than 20 years in Monaco. Recently, it's been looked after by award-winning Porsche restorers, Sportwagen in Southend as well as JAZ Porsche and recent attention includes a minor service with the relevant documentation on file.Sitting on a set of the desirable and valuable Rudge knock-off alloy wheels, the 356 is now attractively finished in Dunkelblau with a grey leatherette interior. The original colour was Signal Red according to the Kardex and additionally the Speedster now also boasts a more powerful 1600 cc engine.Overall, this is a car to use and enjoy, it's one for a driving enthusiast. If you’re after a matching numbers, Concours restoration with history from new, then this car is perhaps not for you, however, if you’re in the market for a highly usable example that you could still be proud to own and is priced very competitively, then this cracking little Speedster may well be worth the effort to come and see it in the metal at our NEC sale and investigate a bit further. Thanks in part to its association with glamorous film stars like James Dean and Steve McQueen, the 356 Speedster has always been a very desirable Porsche and any Pre-A version ranks amongst the most collectable Porsches of all, with a cult following that shows no signs of waning.SpecificationMake: PORSCHEModel: 356Year: 1955Chassis Number: 80347Registration Number: 670 UXBTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Left-hand DriveMake: LHDInterior Colour: LeatheretteClick here for more details and images

A superbly restored, matching numbers example of arguably the first 'Fast Ford' that was to inspire Carol Shelby's GT350.Some say that the Ford Mustang created its own industry sector by offering an affordable sports car for the daily commute, performance to raise a smile when in the mood and enough space for the family when required. That may well have been the case, however, it mattered not as the Mustang became a worldwide success story. The second of two models, the Coupe was marketed as the hardtop version of the convertible, and is today known as the 'Notchback'. The sportier-looking Fastback Coupe was launched in early 1965, clearly defining the Mustang range and was the genesis for the line of performance Mustangs that followed. An early example of those hot (well warm) Mustangs from the production line was the 289 High Performance (Hi-Po) which was later to form the basis for Carroll Shelby's legendary GT350.Records show that just 466 1965 K-Code cars were built at Ford's Dearborn factory, many destined for Shelby's Los Angeles workshops. The example offered here is a February 19th 1965 registered Ford Mustang K-code Hi-Po refinished to the most exacting standards. It's possibly the finest early correct example available worldwide and all tuned Mustangs, even today, can trace their DNA back to this car. Purchased by our UK vendor three years ago in the United States, the restoration was carried out by the renowned Mustang expert and MCA judge, Denis Frances, of Danville Virginia. It was subject to a bare-metal, rotisserie restoration with the unusual brief to present the car exactly as it would have left the factory complete with factory overspray detail and crayon marks. Finished in Caspian Blue and with a black interior and Carlite factory tinted glass, it is totally faithful to the original specification and retains its original door plate. Its original V8 289 Hi-Po engine was rebuilt at the same time as the restoration at a cost of $7,000 by a top US engine builder. The 4-speed. "top-loader' manual gearbox was also rebuilt at the time and the full specification includes black Decor seats, 9-inch differential, front discs with dual master cylinder, date-correct seat belts, correct steel wheels and reproduced Arvinode exhausts. This Mustang really is as good as it gets, and with just 300 miles since the restoration it caught the eye of our vendor on a plinth at the Silverstone Auctions NEC Classic Motor Show in 2014. In more recent years, it has been rightly displayed on the 'Pride of Ownership' stand and the vendor has covered some 1,200 miles in the car since. Our vendor has subsequently added a spare wheel with cover, fitted a period correct radio with modern electrics, prop-shaft seals and a passenger side window regulator, with the works carried out by noted specialist Bill Shepherd Mustang at a cost of £2,358.Presented to auction with a history file that includes recent receipts, V5C, owners manuals, a book entitled 'The 289 Mustang High Performance Mustang Story'  and an odometer reading of 20,987 miles at the time of cataloguing.SpecificationMake: FORDModel: MUSTANGYear: 1965Chassis Number: 5F09K640857Registration Number: FNA 392CTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 640857 Drive Side: Left-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 20987 MilesMake: LHDInterior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

Fabulous, first-generation, Mulliner-specification Flying Spur with less than 33,000 miles from new.Introduced in 2005 to complement Bentley’s existing two-door Continental GT model, the four-door Flying Spur used a stretched version of its sibling’s platform. Powered by the same twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12 engine allied to 6-speed automatic transmission, the luxury sports saloon boasted 552bhp and 479lbft of torque; outputs sufficient for 0-60mph in 5.2 seconds and 194mph. Equipped with adaptive air suspension, continuous damping control and Torsen-based permanent four-wheel drive, the big Bentley proved surprisingly nimble. This impressive example is finished in Tempest Silver with beige leather interior and was first registered on 29th August 2006. It has enjoyed four years with our vendor and has covered just 32,386 miles. Despite this low mileage, the service records contain 12 service stamps suggesting diligent ownership and was most recently serviced in November 2021 by an independent Bentley specialist with less than 300 miles travelled since. It will be freshly MOT'd just prior to our sale and is supplied with both keys.LK56 CVG was factory fitted with a bespoke  Mulliner package which included a cross-stitched diamond pattern in the leather seats, embroidered headrests, drilled alloy pedals, 21-inch alloys and a sports-mode driving option. A very desirable, early production, left-hand drive, US Series I that has been superbly restored and is now 'turn-key' ready. Thanks to the vision of legendary automotive designer, Albrecht von Goertz, and the commercial determination of Nissan’s US-chief, Yutaka Katayama, the 240Z was first released to considerable acclaim on 22nd October 1969, aggressively positioned and priced to compete with the directly comparable Mercedes 280SL, Chevrolet Corvette, Porsche 911T and Jaguar E-Type. Over time it evolved in to the 260Z and latterly the 280Z, but it's the original 240Z that has always been the most desirable due to their purity of line and simplicity of design. The car put Datsun (now Nissan) firmly on the map in the States as a credible Japanese sports car in the early 1970s and those early cars remain the most collectable. Here we have a rare, early left-hand drive car from the USA that has just been professionally restored by an emerging 240Z specialist restoration company called DCW Classic located in Lithuania. Their reputation has been growing stronger and, when you examine this car in detail, it's not hard to understand why. They even reproduce specialist parts that are no longer available to buy elsewhere and have quickly gathered a global reputation for detail and quality in the ‘Z’ world.Finished in gleaming Red 110 and displaying an indicated 37,320 miles, the car is supplied with an interesting history file, a fresh MOT and is 'turn-key' ready to use. It's the early chassis-number cars, essentially the first 3,000 units, that are tipped by the likes of market expert, Quentin Willson, to be the best investments over the long term and that is exactly what's on offer here. LWT 419H was recently entrusted to Fourways Engineering for a running-in service and check over and, pleasingly, it received very favourable comments from them about the high standard of restoration and work recently carried out.Considering that the cost to replicate this superb restoration would be in the region of £50,000, the fact that we are able to offer it at No Reserve suggests that this lovely early 240Z warrants very close inspection.SpecificationMake: DATSUNModel: 240ZYear: 1970Chassis Number: HLS3002480Registration Number: LWT 419HTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Left-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 37320 MilesMake: LHDClick here for more details and images

Rarely do these beautiful and well-engineered R107 Roadsters come to market in such lovely condition. It's hard to believe that the R107 Mercedes SL is now over 50 years old, yet in 1971 this new chapter in the history of the SL sports car began. It was the first SL with a V8 engine, it had a thoroughly modern new design, it was a self-confident motor car; sporty yet luxurious, quick yet comfortable. In many ways it was, and remains, the perfect convertible. The new SL featured a number of technical innovations such as defined crumple zones, high-strength steels in the A-pillars, a windscreen frame with bonded glass, padded surfaces and deformable elements in the interior. From March 1980, ABS was available and from January 1982, a driver’s airbag and belt tensioners. The ultimate engine choice in Europe was to be found with the 500SL of 1980, with 240bhp available (bearing in mind a Porsche 911 offered a 'mere' 204 bhp at the time). The interiors became even more luxurious, the car's weight was reduced with new alloy bonnets and boot lids and in 1985, the range was revised for the final time with a redesigned engine for the 500SL with electronic ignition and Bosch KE-Jetronic fuel injection, revised suspension, improved rust-proofing and some new wheels. The 500SL on offer here does date from 1985 and is splendidly finished in blue black metallic with cream perforated hide. Being one of the last produced, pre-facelift, the specification is extensive, listing amongst others, green glass with a top tint, cruise control, heated seats, air conditioning, limited-slip differential, remote central locking and the familiar Mercedes fire extinguisher. With attention to detail at the forefront of the current owners mind, it should be noted that the original and complete tool roll remains in place alongside the unused first aid kit. Also accompanying the car is a comprehensive service history and associated paperwork including a fresh MOT Certificate due to expire 2nd November 2023. With unblemished paintwork, an outstanding interior, newly fitted hood and a colour-matched hardtop, this is a simply exceptional example of these timeless roadsters and would happily grace any serious collection.SpecificationMake: MERCEDESModel: 500Year: 1985Chassis Number: WDB1070462A033964Registration Number: C327 FWWTransmission: AutoEngine Number: 11796222006418Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 88470 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Magnolia HideClick here for more details and images

Rarely do 964 Turbos come to the open market, especially with relatively low mileage and in such remarkable condition.Offered here is a UK-supplied, right-hand drive, 3.3-litre 964 Turbo which currently displays less than 47,000 miles. Supplied new by AFN Porsche in Chiswick and first registered in May 1993, finished in gleaming Grand Prix White with a classic grey leather interior and optioned with a sunshine roof, sports leather seats and a top-tinted windscreen.Today, this Turbo presents in outstanding order and has benefitted from some extensive attention over recent years including a thorough underside restoration carried out by a specialist Porsche technician. This detailed overhaul is fully documented with stage-by-stage photographic evidence along with a wealth of recent invoices. The images display many major mechanical components being removed before being renewed or refinished correctly prior to careful reassembly and as such the underside of this example presents as well as the exterior. The relatively low mileage is supported by a history file including the original service book stamped by Porsche Service Centres or regarded Porsche specialists. Most recent major maintenance includes an engine-out service with tappets checked and adjusted, new belts, gearbox oil, A/C overhaul, steering-rack overhaul and four-wheel alignment in April 2021 at 43,930 miles and subsequently an oil service with professional wheel refurbishment in February 2022 at 45,253 miles. The wheels are the correct original genuine split-rim Porsche items and not aftermarket replicas. It's supplied with an excellent history file and has a full, clean MOT to September 2023.The previous owner really cared for this Turbo and invested a great deal of time, money and energy to have it looking and performing as well as it does today. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a highly coveted yet totally usable example of the classic 964 Turbo finished in arguably one of the best period colour schemes available and will appeal to 911 collectors and enthusiastic drivers alike.  SpecificationMake: PORSCHEModel: 911Year: 1993Chassis Number: WP0ZZZ96ZNS470446Registration Number: K32 SLNTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 46300 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: GreyClick here for more details and images

Car 459 of a limited edition of 1,000 marking the end of production of VW South Africa's version of the iconic Golf Mk1 in 2009, UK registered and just 16,598km.When Volkswagen released the original Golf in 1974, the car was an overnight success. Easy, economical to drive and inexpensive to maintain. Volkswagen South Africa started the assembly of the Golf Mk1 under licence in 1978, however, when the second generation Golf arrived in 1984, Volkswagen South Africa found themselves unable to supply the demand for a small, affordable entry-level car, as the Mk2 was bigger and somewhat more expensive than its predecessor. The most viable option for VW SA was to continue producing a variant of the Mk1, designed to fill the gap in the market for a reliable, solid, safe car for the local population. Using the same body shell as the Mk1, the 'Citi Golf' was launched in 1984 as a mildly facelifted,1.6-litre, five-door, alongside companion saloon and two-door utility models. The Citi Golf's 25 year lifespan saw hundreds of modifications, both cosmetic, to satisfy consumer demand, and mechanical to comply with safety and emission standards. Cost savings from using the Mk1 shell allowed the Citi to be better appointed than its rivals, with accessories made available over the years from the Volkswagen Group parts department. To commemorate the end of production of the Citi in 2009, the Citi Mk1 was launched. This edition was limited to just 1,000 cars, with special features that included lowered suspension, 15” alloy wheels, tinted windows, a leather sports steering wheel with airbag, and chrome foil side-stripes. The lovely example on offer here is Number 459 of those 1,000 cars and is finished in Black Magic Pearl, one of two colours available, and optioned with half-leather seats trimmed with black cloth. It was imported into the UK and registered with the DVLA on the 1st October 2019 as 'YL09 OZK, however, our vendor thought that particular registration did not quite suit the little Citi, so it now wears the current private registration, RRZ 9617, which will remain with the car.Presented to auction in exceptional condition with just 16,598 kilometres or 10,313 miles at the time of cataloguing, the service book states that the most recent service was carried out less than 435 km ago 22nd September 2021 and the car has just been issued with an advisory free MOT. An official book commemorating the Citi, unused mats still in their Volkswagen packaging, VWSA brochures, main dealer service receipts, VW heritage letter, original radio and bill of sale accompany the car.Whilst the car’s condition and rarity warrants a place in a collection, it is also eminently suitable as a daily driver for the enthusiast that loves the retro looks of a classic car but appreciates the modern enhancements fitted by the manufacturer from new. It sits within its own niche in the market and elements of the car’s features may seem incongruous at first glance but make perfect sense in context, however, you'll probably never see another and despite its humble origins, its sheer rarity means it would be welcome anywhere.SpecificationMake: VWModel: GOLFYear: 2009Chassis Number: AAVZZZ17Z9U015442Registration Number: RRZ 9617Transmission: ManualEngine Number: AFX088681 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 10313 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Leather/ClothClick here for more details and images

The desirable 3.8-litre 'S' model with 355bhp, sports suspension, upgraded braking and a sports exhaust. Full Porsche service history plus top-bearing replacement. The 997 marked another new chapter for Porsche, although to look at, the new generation seemed to hark back to former glories, particular in profile and the design of its oval headlights. The 997 was initially available from July 2004 in two guises, Carrera and Carrera S, both rear-wheel drive only with identical bodywork. The base Carrera stuck with the well established 3.6-litre power unit producing 325bhp, however, the Carrera S had useful extra power – some 355bhp – thanks to a larger displacement engine (3 litres). Other general 997 enhancements included better suspension, reduced drag-coefficient, a more appealing interior and extra room for passengers. The Carrera S also benefited from a sports exhaust, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), bigger brakes, 19” wheels as standard and Xenon headlights with red brake callipers the only external clue. The car presented here is a 2005 Porsche 911 (997) 3.8-litre Carrera S specified with the ‘drivers’ choice’ of the manual 6-speed (G97/01) gearbox (which was reinforced by Porsche for the ‘S’ model). It has a full Porsche service history, the most recent of which was only a few weeks ago, and included some remedial work to repair and ensure the longevity of the engine’s top bearing. This is sure to be peace-of-mind to any potential buyer of this era of 997, with marque specialists Zentrum Ltd. of Nottingham observing absolutely no piston scoring when this work was carried out. The car is accompanied by a large history file, showing its fastidious service history, and supporting its 76,000 miles (which equates to under 4,500 miles per annum). The car presents well in a very stylish colour combination and, having been first registered on 24th March 2005, its condition belies its 17 years, indicative of diligent ownership. There is nothing quite like the urgency and sound of a large-capacity normally-aspirated Porsche flat-6 accelerating, giving an instant response, with real torque and a potent sound, especially channelled through the more vocal Sports exhaust. Our vendor is a private Porsche enthusiast and having enjoyed this car for the last three years, a change in circumstances dictate that he has now decided to offer the car for sale. Currently, the 997-Series Porsche 911 seems tremendous value, particularly at this guide, offering real performance with everyday usability and an entry into the fascinating world of 911 ownership.SpecificationMake: PORSCHEModel: 911Year: 2005Chassis Number: WP0ZZZ99Z5S736053Registration Number: S2 XXNTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 68509110 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 76000 MilesMake: RHDClick here for more details and images

Handsome right-hand drive TR6 recently restored and in a great colour combination.Sharp, clean and ruggedly handsome, the TR6 looked far more modern than TR roadsters of old and proved a huge hit with the sporting driver of the early 1970s. Restyled in 1969 by Karmann of Osnabruck, the TR6 gained a full-width nose and a squared-off tail, however, under its new 'party frock' the chassis remained basically the same as its independently-rear-suspended TR5 predecessor. Handling was improved courtesy of wider wheels and a front anti-roll bar and the '6' was a little more refined than its predecessors featuring pile carpets, plush-looking bucket seats, a traditional wooden dashboard, and a full complement of instrumentation.Offered here is a sensibly priced TR6 dating from 1972 and finished in Sapphire Blue with Wedgewood Blue seats and disc wheels. First registered in the UK in 2011, the TR6 has been restored and converted to right-hand drive. Accompanying the car is a good file containing pictures of the bare metal restoration, which interested parties should come to see and study in more detail at the NEC Show as the file tells the story better than we could here.Offering a good value for money entry into British 'top down' sports car motoring, this is a charismatic example to use and enjoy next summer.SpecificationMake: TRIUMPHModel: TR6Year: 1972Chassis Number: CC81041URegistration Number: DBE 142KTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Right-hand DriveMake: RHDClick here for more details and images

Lot 669

A mini piece of Italian exotica, carbonfibre monocoque chassis, dual dry clutch gearbox and only 8,000 miles from new; this example also benefits from some incredible upgrades. A rear-wheel drive, mid-engined sportscar based around a lightweight carbonfibre chassis? That'll be a McLaren or a Lamborghini, right? Not in this case. Alfa Romeo has long been a brand of unfulfilled promise. With the 4C, it got itself right back on track and its construction really does put it among some very rarefied machinery indeed. Back in 2013, it had been 30 years since we'd seen a real Alfa Romeo sports car for real people, but then came the 4C. Immediately there was a lineage to the 4C’s bigger sibling, the 8C Competizione (2007-2010), with its carbonfibre bodyshell, this now modern-classic supercar regularly demands £250,000-plus; furthermore, the 8C was produced for Alfa Romeo by Maserati, the very people who lovingly took on the task of hand-assembling the 4C, its populist successor. That fact is significant and will continue to be, as history judges the Alfa Romeo 4C. Make no mistake, the 4C is a proper, bespoke, and gorgeous driving machine. For now, perhaps, it is content with being a lightweight, mid-engined, rear-wheel drive sportscar (that just happens to hand-built and composite bodied), which makes the most of a relatively small engine with its lack of mass and impeccable handling - in short, the type of Alfa Romeo they used to build and that almost anyone could aspire to own.The light rigid chassis, the wide track and a low centre of gravity aided by a McLaren-style electronic Q2 differential (that utilises the brakes to do the work of an LSD) all add up to impressive road-holding and cornering traction, however, it wasn't particularly happy on British roads. In retrospect, Alfa Romeo and indeed every other manufacturer who wants to offer their products in the UK, should have developed the car on the UK's finest lumpy lanes, on the grounds that if it worked here, it would have worked anywhere. In the end, the driving improvement duties were happily taken on by equally clever folk in the aftermarket. Chassis 'fixes' from a plethora of specialists quickly resolved any bumpy B-road misgivings and give the 4C the handling ammunition it needs to take on and likely beat all-comers on all roads.Enter the car presented here, a 4C developed by a real enthusiast with a truly impressive specification. Our vendor happily relinquished his 4C (already supplied with the Race Pack) to the best-in-the-business, Alfa Workshop of Royston, Hertfordshire who have lavished all their expertise, plus servicing dedication (regularly serviced, with cambelts on due-dates) on this car. Along with a full geometry set-up, Alfa Workshop also fitted an upgraded front anti-roll bar, plus an additional rear anti-roll bar and electric power-assisted steering – a real gamechanger for the driving experience - according to Alfa Workshop, who solely supply and fit this £6,000 EPAS upgrade, this is one of only three UK 4Cs to have benefitted from this improvement. It's also enhanced by the addition of a full KW coil-over kit, a mild ECU remap (280bhp), Helmholtz exhaust resonator, tailpipe, and carbon fibre tip, multiple KOSHI carbon-fibre parts (costing £8,000, includes interior, engine bay, rear diffuser), Tillett B5 carbon-fibre race seats (costing £2,000), plus lightweight magnesium Titan alloy wheels (costing £5,000, specially imported from the US, fitted with performance tyres that have covered less than 1,000 miles; the four original upgraded style of wheel accompany the car with tyres that have covered just 7,000 miles). The car also benefits from the application of PPF and is accompanied by a branded, fitted indoor car cover.Other upgrades include faux-suede headlining and sun visors, together with upgraded heater and ventilator controls, again, specially sourced from the US. A genuine, UK-supplied (C-16), right-hand drive, 930 Turbo in good condition with substantial recent investment.Much of the Porsche 911's development had resulted from the factory's racing program, and it was the period Group 4 homologation rules, which required 400 road cars to be built, that spurred the development of 'Project 930' - the legendary 911 Turbo. In production from April 1975, the Turbo married a KKK turbocharger to the 3.0 litre Carrera RSR engine, in road trim, a combination that delivered 260 bhp for a top speed of 155mph. In 1978 the Turbo's engine was enlarged to 3.3 litres, gaining an intercooler in the process; power increased to 300bhp and the top speed, of what was the fastest accelerating road car of its day, went up to 160mph. But the Turbo wasn't just about top speed, it was also the best equipped 911 and amazingly flexible, hence only four speeds in the gearbox, being capable of racing from a standstill to 100mph in 14 seconds! The Turbo's characteristic flared wheel arches and 'tea tray' rear spoiler had already been seen on the Carrera model while the interior was the most luxurious yet seen in a 911, featuring leather upholstery, air conditioning and electric windows. More refined than hitherto, yet retaining its high performance edge, the Porsche 911 Turbo sold in the thousands, becoming the definitive sports car of its age.Offered here is a right-hand drive, UK-supplied ‘C16’, 3.3-litre, four-speed manual gearbox example that's finished in the striking combination of Marine Blue Metallic with a Dark Blue (Dunkesblau) leather interior. Just over 87,849 miles were showing on the odometer at the time of cataloguing and this particular car has been the lucky recipient of over £20,000's worth of mechanical attention by marque specialist, Paragon Porsche, during March and April 2022. There is a huge amount of detail in the invoices showing the extent of the work and we encourage all interested parties to come see for themselves at the NEC.Offered by a well-known Porsche aficionado, this Turbo represents a wonderful opportunity to own a highly useable example of one of these iconic German coupes. With the market for 930 Turbos continuing to gain strength we are delighted to offer this spectacular classic supercar that could well prove to be a shrewd and enjoyable purchase.SpecificationMake: PORSCHEModel: 911Year: 1988Chassis Number: WP0ZZZ93ZJS000516Registration Number: XDZ 2201Transmission: ManualDrive Side: Right-hand DriveClick here for more details and images

Charismatic little 948cc-engined Turner 803 purchased new and raced by the legendary Betty Haig, Britain's most successful female competition driver ever.A member of the Haig Whisky family and a grand-niece of Field Marshal Douglas Haig, Commander of the British Expeditionary Force (BEF), Elizabeth (Betty) Haig (1905 -1987) was a lifelong enthusiast for all things motoring. She did well in rallies, winning an Olympic Medal in her first pre-war rally, in Germany, with a 1500cc, six-cylinder Singer, a car also used for a WASA trial and Brooklands driving. She then won the Paris-St Raphael Feminin Rally outright in her PB MG, and after the war she won the Ladies’ Cup and her class in the fantastic 1948 Alpine Trial in an AC. She went on a Monte Carlo Rally in an experimental Morris Minor with Elsie Wisdom and Barbara Marshall, and won the 1½ litre class in the very tough 1949 Alpine Trial with a works TC MG.She was equally competent on tarmac driving her HRG to a class-win in a Swiss hill-climb, changed to a Healey-Silverstone, raced a Cooper-JAP and a vee-twin Cooper 1000, drove the highest-placed foreign car, a Triumph TR2, in the 1952 San Remo Rally, raced her AC Ace at Goodwood and Brands Hatch, a Turner 803 in Italy and took Ladies’ Cups at Prescott and Shelsley Walsh with a Lotus Eleven. Then there was a TT MG Magnette raced at Goodwood and Silverstone, gaining a Coupe de Vitesse with an Austin-Healey 100 in a later Paris-St Raphael Rally, and breaking the Ladies’ Record at Prescott in a Lotus 23. A little later she shared a Ferrari with Yvonne Simons in the 1951 Le Mans 24 Hour race, finishing with an average of over 82mph to win the Coupe des Dames. She continued to race for years and loved Silverstone and particularly Goodwood where she competed on a regular basis, presumably using the little Turner in appropriate events. In 1966, Betty and photographer Guy Griffiths established the Historic Sports Car Club (HSCC).A letter in the large history file states that this car, #30/40, was bought new from Jack Turner through Swanden Motor Sales in Worthing by Betty Haig, and registered SUF 1 on 13th March 1957. It’s an 803 but according to a letter in the file, it was fitted with a 948cc A-Series and was, in fact, the prototype for the Turner 950 which commenced production a little later. It appears that at some point the engine was bored out to 997cc and we understand that £100 (a substantial sum then) was invested at Downton Engineering on further modifications. This ‘hot’ engine, although stripped and in need of repair, accompanies the car today which is currently powered by a 948cc unit, lightly modified for road use.In 1960, she sold the car to Isobel Robinson who at that time was the Public Relations Officer for BRM. She had started to compete in Eric Broadley’s 1,172cc Ford engined special (the forerunner to the Lola) before moving to the then Downton-tuned Turner. She owned it for three years continuing to use it in competition – some lovely period shots having been unearthed at the archive at the Beaulieu Motor Museum. The car then moved to Sue Taylor, a friend of Isobel's, who according to a letter from her in 2006, 'raced it a bit'. As a trainee nurse she found it all a bit expensive and part-exchanged it for a Mini. By 1964 the car was seen advertised in Motorsport (copy in file), Sue having kept the number SUF 1 which she still had on her modern Clio when the letter was written. It was re-registered 872 DRV.The story then goes quiet until 1979 when it was discovered, abandoned in Southampton. Recovered by Lee Barton and passed on to his father-in-law, Ken Edwards, its whereabouts was reported to the very active Turner Register. Issued with the age-related number TSV 483, photographs of it exist in a rather down-at-heel state in 1991 when owned by Dave Scott. Happier days lay ahead as the file also contains an invoice and photographs from 1994 of a body-off restoration by West Country Motorsports confirming that the work was completed to a high standard including race preparation. The car was then exported to the US in 1995 to begin the next stage of its life.#30/40’s racing career then took off again, with a series of strong finishes in the VSCCA Historic Race Series before returning to the UK in 2004 where the owner’s brother looked after it until 2012 when it was offered for sale. At that point, on 28th November 2012, it was purchased by our vendor, who’s collection includes some fairly exotic machinery, and was duly registered to him but, as is often the way, it was very rarely used. There is a lot of history with TSV including correspondence from the Turner Registrar, articles and features, old photographs, Turner/Fairthorpe magazines, a number of invoices, restoration details and photographs from 1994, lots of racing results from the US, import documentation, MOTs and V5s etc.Frequently photographed in period, this stunning little Turner is eligible for a wide range of events. It has the potential to be right up there in the thick of it thanks to the ever increasing power outputs squeezed from the remarkable A-Series engine, the superb handling characteristics and the car's light weight. As mentioned earlier, the original engine will be supplied with the car (will need to be collected) and with Betty Haig’s regular appearances at Goodwood and with sufficient investment it may well be welcome at all sorts of glamorous events. Not a concours contender but, with its active period competition history by a brace of well-known lady drivers, this venerable little Turner will no doubt attract a lot of attention wherever it goes. SpecificationMake: TURNERModel: 803Year: 1957Chassis Number: 30/40Registration Number: TSV 483Transmission: ManualEngine Number: 9M-U-H536670Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 5451 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: RedClick here for more details and images

Bought from Spike Milligan by Peter Sellers in 1968 and cherished until his death in 1980. Restored as a personal project by RS Williams for £45,000 in 2015.The Austin Motor Car Company launched the Twelve in 1921 and it proved to be hugely popular thanks to superior build quality across a range of models and an engine quoted as capable of delivering some 40mph, tested, perhaps, on a steep gradient. Produced in 1930 this Austin Heavy Twelve Open Road Tourer Deluxe was bought by comedian Spike Milligan in the 1950s and affectionately nicknamed “Old Min”, inspired by the elderly spinster Minnie Bannister, a character from 'The Goon Show'. The car seemed to suit Spike’s appearance and personality but the car was to be coveted by another member of the Goons, the suave playboy of the group, Peter Sellers. The George Best of comedy and rarely seen without an attractive woman on his arm, Sellers famously owned some special Ferraris, naturally the latest Rolls-Royce and many Aston Martins, but “Old Min” had him under her spell.By this time Sellers had met the world-renowned Aston Martin specialist Richard Williams, who took on the role of the actor's 'fleet manager'. Having enjoyed the Austin for 11 years, Sellers gave 'Old Min' back to Milligan only to retrieve the car almost immediately as he felt his friend was failing to care for it properly. The car's history following Sellers' death in 1980 is not clear, but Richard Williams later became acquainted with one of the subsequent owners and was able to purchase 'Old Min' in March 2010.In 2012, Richard commenced a total restoration to Sellers' famously exacting standards, a long and painstaking process that would take the next three years to complete. The original hood was retained; the upholstery sympathetically refurbished; and the engine rebuilt by Vintage-era Austin specialist, Bob James. Richard spent over £45,000 on the restoration and his detailed summary of the costs may be found in the extensive history file together with old photographs, various invoices, magazine articles, and an original handbook inscribed 'Property of Spike Milligan – please return'. Used sparingly since the restoration the car was bought from the Richard Williams estate in May 2021 by our enthusiast vendor for family jaunts and is now offered to the next custodian.Shortly after the restoration’s completion, "Old Min" was road-tested by Andrew Roberts for an article in Classic & Sports Car magazine (March 2016 edition, copy on file) in which he succinctly sums up its unique charm. "This test possibly means more to me than almost any other I've done for C&SC," he declared. "In my day job as a film historian, I genuinely regard Peter Sellers, at the height of his powers, to have been the finest actor in post-war British cinema, and so the experience of riding in Old Min was on a par with another motoring scribe driving the former property of Graham Hill or Jim Clark."Photographs credited to Simon Clay.Period photographs part of the Lot.SpecificationMake: AUSTINModel: OLD MIN - HEAVY 12/4 CLIFTON OPEN ROAD TOURER DELUXYear: 1930Chassis Number: 68282Registration Number: GO 3252Transmission: ManualEngine Number: 68937L Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 10000 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Dark RedClick here for more details and images

A beautifully restored, matching numbers 3.8-litre, ex-South African car finished in the most stunning combination of British Racing Green with Sage Green leather. For many, the definitive Jaguar sports saloon, the Mk2, was introduced in October 1959. A peerless blend of elegance and muscularity, its sleek lines clothed an evolution of the Coventry marque's first monocoque design. Powered by derivatives of the same XK DOHC straight-six engine that had swept Jaguar to five Le Mans victories, the Mk2 was quick to dominate contemporary saloon car racing. Equipped with coil-and-wishbone independent front suspension, a leaf-sprung Salisbury rear axle and servo-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, the range-topping 3.8 boasted nearly seven times the horsepower of a Mini 850 and a 126mph top speed! Blessed with one of the all-time great automotive interiors, its stylish instrumentation, rich wood veneers and sumptuous leather upholstery all conspired to cosset and cocoon its lucky occupants. This rather smart 3.8-litre example dates from 1964 and we understand returned to the UK in 1990. It's a UK-supplied, right-hand drive car and was converted from a manual gearbox to automatic during its restoration by P and K Thornton in 1999. The Jaguar now presents very well in British Racing Green over Sage Green leather with new Apple Green carpets, a light grey headlining and excellent veneers. It looks very sporty with chrome wire wheels, Speedwell racing mirrors, chromed tailpipes and a Moto-Lita wood-rim steering wheel. Supplied with the car are invoices dated between 1992 and 2000 totalling £38,896 and in 2003 it was valued at £30,000. It has covered 96,500 miles which is a bit academic with a restoration of this quality. This a beautifully presented Mk2 with all the right sporting cues and, unusually, it's an automatic which opens up a whole new list of potential owners who, for one reason or another, are more comfortable without a clutch pedal.   SpecificationMake: JAGUARModel: MK2Year: 1964Chassis Number: A232768Registration Number: ENP 416BTransmission: AutoEngine Number: 7B647928 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 96500 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Sage Green leatherClick here for more details and images

Recently serviced and offered in great running and driving order - ready for the S.F Edge Race at Goodwood. The pioneer age of motoring was driven by passion, obsession and the need for more speed. The thrill of these new-fangled automobiles drew thousands of people to the roadside - desperate to know the sounds and smells, and to taste the dust which would cling to the air in the wake of these roaring monsters. Their wooden wheels clad in thin rubber bands defied logic and defined a hero-generation in the clouds that erupted as they stormed by.At this time in history the racetrack hadn’t even been formulated. Organised racing was from town A to town B, and the biggest event was the Gordon Bennett race which attracted the finest racers of the day; a 550km charge across the host nation designed to test driver and car to the limits and beyond. Fernand Charron, a bicycle racer, won the first race in a Panhard, and together with fellow racers Leonce Girardot and Emile Voigt was the driving force behind the world’s first automobile agency established 1898 - Charron, Girardot & Voigt, or CGVAfter making a name for themselves on the racing scene and with the re-sale business an outstanding success, the trio embarked on construction their own cars in 1901. The marque quickly gained note in motorsport and passenger car design alike. Heavily influenced by Panhard, CGV developed one of the world's first straight-eight cylinder engines in 1903 (a 7.2-litre racing unit). The underslung front radiator gave the car a distinctive ‘open-mouthed’ look, and the CGV became a household name to those early motor-sport devotees. In 1904 they produced 216 cars, mostly for the wealthy sports-minded enthusiast. Rebranded Automobile Charron in 1906 after a split between the three, the marque continued until 1930.120 years on, and these cars still draw some of the biggest crowds. Edwardian races at events like Goodwood Members, VSCC and Vintage Revival Montlhery produced the same rapturous delight for onlookers – these monster machines rage past one another in complete denial of their aged years and simple mechanical designs.BS 8280 was a car restored for this exact reason. When our vendor spotted a 1904 CGV chassis, axles and gear box in an auction during the 1980s, he couldn’t resist. Over the next decade much research was carried out and that knowledge then invested into restoring the CGV. On the 9th of June 1998, the CGV was completed and registered. The superb Edwardian racer was styled on the 1905 100hp Grand Prix CGV. BS 8280 is an inspired example of the CGV marque restored using the original parts purchased, and comes fitted with a Simplex four-cylinder engine. The Simplex 10-litre engine was fitted to illustrate the correct engine appearance and style of the types fitted to the CGV in period. Excitingly after much searching an original 1904 4.5-litre CGV engine was found in France and purchased - it was then fully restored, but as-yet unused. Should the original engine be refitted to the car, and subject to Veteran Car Club Dating , this would make an exciting and fast London to Brighton Run competitor.  Since completion, this dramatic, fire breathing car has competed in multiple circuit events as well as numerous road trips across Europe and the United Kingdom. The decision to replace the front wheels, updating the wooden frames to Aluminium, was made following a couple of spectacular failures over the years, offering peace of mind and making the car more usable. An opportunity not to be missed.SpecificationMake: CGVModel: 100HP GRAND PRIXYear: 1904Chassis Number: 1989Registration Number: BS 8280Transmission: 3-SpeedEngine Number: 1961Drive Side: Right-hand DriveMake: RHDInterior Colour: Brown LeatherClick here for more details and images

In the 1970s, ownership of a Capri 3000E meant that you had definitely 'arrived'.Although a fastback coupé, Ford wanted the Capri Mk I to be affordable for a broad spectrum of potential buyers. To help achieve that, it was available with a variety of engines with the British and German factories producing different line-ups. The continental model used the Ford Taunus V4 engine in 1.3, 1.5 and 1.7-litre engine capacities, whilst the British versions were powered by the Ford Kent straight-four in 1.3 and 1.6-litre form. The Ford Essex V4 engine 2.0L (British built) and Cologne V6 2.0 L (German built) served as initial range-toppers. At the end of the year, new sports versions were added: the 2300 GT in Germany, using a twin-choke carburettor with 125bhp, and in September 1969 the 3000 GT in the UK, with the Essex V6 generating 138bhp. The range continued to be broadened, with another 3.0-litre variant, the 3000E, introduced from the British plant in March 1970, offering "more luxurious interior trim". Although the 3000GT was seen as the most sporty of the MkI, the equally powerful 3000E with its impressive specification became the most aspirational of the entire range. This rare, UK-supplied 3000E Automatic  is finished in Evergreen Metallic, a rare colour in period, with a tan interior sporting the cloth centre inserts in the seats, unique to the 3000E. Over more recent times, it's been treated to a pair of new front wings and a quality repaint in Evergreen. ahe engine and gearbox have both been fully overhauled recently and the car has covered less than 200 miles since. The suspension was also restored with Poly-bushes being fitted and the underside finished off with a full stainless steel exhaust. In a super colour with its black vinyl roof, polished Rostyle wheels, stainless exhaust and good chrome, this is a very attractive example of a rare and collectable '70s legend.SpecificationMake: FORDModel: CAPRIYear: 1971Chassis Number: BBECKA32752Registration Number: WKR 888JTransmission: AutomaticEngine Number: BBECKA32752Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 70143 MilesMake: RHDClick here for more details and images

UK-delivered in Olive Green and offered directly from the personal collection of rally champion and James Bond stunt driver, Mark Higgins. The Porsche 911 (996) Turbo S came at the very end of the 996 production cycle in 2005 and was given the full-house treatment of options, being sufficiently different to become known as the 996.2. The engine was fitted with the bigger turbos from the X50 Power kit, uprated intercoolers and a revised ECU boosting output to 450bhp, and the car's top speed broke through that magic 300km/h barrier, with a maximum of 190mph (307km/h), placing it firmly in supercar territory, helped by the four-wheel drive. This period also saw a huge change in attitude towards semi-automatic gearboxes, helped by Ferrari’s F1 and Porsche’s Tiptronic, and unprecedented technological advancements. It was accepted as the best of both worlds by the traditional, yet enthusiast, Porsche Turbo buyer, and subsequently a manual gearbox was rarely specified, none more so than the Turbo S, most of which were Coupes. A UK-delivered manual cabriolet Turbo S is therefore so rare that UK production figures are not recorded but, undoubtedly, there are very few and they seldom become available. However, none are comparable to this car’s colour, mileage and provenance, which combine to make it unique.Optioned with carbon ceramic brakes and delivered new to the UK, finished in the very rare colour of Olive Green, this Turbo S Cabriolet was first registered on  23rd May 2005 to a successful restaurateur. He used it as a daily driver for the first few years, covering largely motorway miles, however, the annual mileage gradually reduced as time went by. Having always coveted the car, our vendor, multiple British Rally Championship winner Mark Higgins, purchased the Porsche from his friend, becoming the second owner on  26th December 2013.Like many of the sports cars in Mark’s Collection, this Turbo S has been driven sparingly with overseas filming commitments limiting his time behind the wheel. His talents have been called upon in the modern era of Bond films, most recently doubling as James Bond in the set piece Aston Martin DB5 scene in No Time To Die. As one of Hollywood’s go-to 'wheelmen' Mark’s driving has featured in the Fast & Furious, Batman and Star Wars franchises to name a few.Regular oil changes were carried out and the maintenance record lists main dealer and specialist services together with dates and mileage. Since 2013, Mark has driven less than 3,000 miles in the car and it's presented to auction freshly serviced and MOT'd with an odometer reading of 66,995 miles at the time of cataloguing. Very impressive Plus 8 restored and upgraded to a level rarely seen.Although Rover's attempts to acquire the Morgan Car Company in 1966 had proved fruitless, it nevertheless granted the sports car manufacturer access to its newly acquired, ex-Buick lightweight aluminium V8 engine with a view to cementing a supply contract. Hired by the Malvern works to assess the powerplant's merits/suitability, race engineer Maurice Owen lost little time in shoehorning one into a Morgan Plus 4 chassis. With trials of the resultant prototype successfully undertaken in 1967, the Plus 8 debuted at the following year's Earls Court Motor Show. Its lengthy production run has seen the Plus 8 alter little in outward appearance, save for ever widening wheelarches accommodating fatter rubber, yet beneath the skin the changes have been innumerable. Better gearboxes, fuel injection, rack-and-pinion steering, improved corrosion protection and paint, telescopic rear dampers, air bags and the obligatory catalytic converter have all become part of the Plus 8 picture over the years, along, of course, with bigger engines to offset the inevitable increase in weight.Dating from 1990, E9 MOG was chosen by our vendor for it’s exceptional build quality having been restored by renowned Morgan expert Kevin Vernon of Tudor Motors. During the process the car benefitted from many refinements and upgrades and it's estimated that the parts and labour costs for the enhancements and upgrades ‘E9 MOG’ enjoys, would be in the region of £40,000 in today’s market. These include;· RPI new Land Rover 4.6-litre V8 engine - recent Dyno rolling-road test indicating 230bhp· RPI Piper 272 fast road cam· RPI lightened flywheel· RPI Superflare plenum trumpets· RPI chromed Morgan plenum chamber· Jaguar/Bosch AFM· FSE adjustable rising-rate fuel pressure regulator· Mallory Unilite distributor (bespoked to the car)· Mallory high performance chrome coil· RPI chromed valve covers· Morgan branch manifolds (metalized)· Stainless twin Morgan exhaust system· JEGS polished stainless exhaust tips· Griffin bespoke performance-fit aluminium radiator· SPAL electric cooling fan· Mulberry polished aluminium overflow· Morgan R380 5-speed gearbox (rebuilt)· Morgan Salisbury steering rack· Mulberry anti-tramp bars· Shortened Morgan rebound springs· Morgan suspension rear hoop· Hard chromed Kingpins with bronze bushes· Rutherford AVO shock absorbers (front & rear)· Caparo Morgan brake hydraulics & calipers (upgraded)· Portferfield fast road brakes· Kunifer brake lines & stainless flexible brake hoses· 4 x New Michelin Primacy tyres· Refurbished alloy wheels· Fully refurbished chassis (stripped, primed, painted & sealed) with stainless steel fittings· Wooden chassis elements removed & re-treated with another Cuprinol coat· New Superform (lightweight) front & rear wings· Polished Heart of England front & rear plinths, door latch covers etc· Morgan telescopic mirror bases with upgraded mirrors· Chromed Morgan windscreen supports· Polished stainless luggage carrier· Jaguar X120 Tri-pod halogen headlamps· Lucas LR576 chrome sport lamps· Bespoke Kauffelt dash made by Mathias (incorporating VDO instruments)· Bespoke rear storage bins· 6006E 6-Disc CD multi-changer (Burr Walnut Fascia) with Infinity speakers· Original mohair top, tonneau & side-screens· Classic chrome lap-latch seatbelt systemThe car appears superbly finished in Bentley Sapphire Blue with a discreet pearl-effect and the original leather upholstery has been well cared-for and remains in excellent condition. An important piece of early Lotus history. The Earl's Court Motorshow car and still boasting some interesting and unique design features that never made it onto later production cars. The Lotus Elite Type 14, when first launched in 1958, put Colin Chapman and Lotus cars very firmly on the map. It utilised a monocoque construction which meant there was no separate chassis and the body was load bearing, and whilst this was becoming accepted practice, the Elite was the first time it had been attempted in glass-fibre. When combined with independent sporty suspension, a ZF gearbox, disc brakes, a Coventry Climax all-aluminium engine and a very low drag coefficient of just 0.29 - it made for a great drivers car. So much so that by production end in 1963 over one thousand had been produced and Lotus was now a credible British sports car manufacturer. The lilac-hued Type 14, chassis #1008 on offer here is a rather special car and an important part of early Lotus history. It is the eigth pre-production prototype Elite and was displayed on the Lotus stand at the 1958 Earls Court Motor Show. The car that followed it, #1009, is recognised as the first genuine production car and was originally purchased by one of Colin Chapman's favoured customers and friends, jazz legend Chris Barber. Initially, 008 was used by the then Lotus works driver, Keith Hall, for road use until 1960. This example and the other prototypes were being sold or lent to selected racing drivers in the late 1950s to gain publicity whilst at the same time discovering any weaknesses before full production started. After Keith Hall’s time with the car, chassis 008 passed in 1960 to its first private owner, who staggeringly kept it for the following 60 years! Under this long-term ownership the car was preserved in its Motor Show appearance both inside and out, as you can see by the charmingly original patina of the Lilac bodywork and original yellow interior. Documented in the huge accompanying history file are details and letters regarding the installation of a 1,500cc Cosworth-modified Ford engine, with a close ratio gearbox due to the poor reliability of the original 1,220cc Climax. This unit was fitted relatively early in the car's life as you’ll see in the letter dated 9th March 1964 to Mr Costin by the then owner. The result of this change meant a huge improvement in both the reliability and performance of 6 SML as recently confirmed by renowned marque expert, Paul Matty, who told Silverstone recently just how good this car is to drive today. Paul knows the car well and, in fact sold 6 SML to the current owner, who is only the second registered keeper, following his predecessor's 60 years of loyalty to the little Lotus.008 boasts some interesting and unique design features that never made it onto later production, one of which is the fuel tank which is encapsulated in the right front wing. There is an incredible amount of history accompanying this special car, far too much to list here as you can see from some of the accompanying photographs, so we highly recommend interested parties come see the car and the owner's file for themselves to really understand the history and preservation on offer here.By the time Elite production ceased in September 1963, 1,030 examples had been built and Lotus had developed from a company unheard of outside of UK club racing to one of the most famous racing teams in the world. They were about to be crowned F1 World Champions for the first time with Jim Clark, and were seen as established world players in road car manufacture with a mature market presence in the USA and elsewhere. The Elite played a big part in this remarkable feat of automotive industrial growth. It was Lotus' first 'grown-up', credible road car and laid down the foundations of the Lotus business that still exists today.Cars are only original once, and 6 SML needs be preserved and cherished by its next owner. We welcome and encourage any inspection of this important piece of both Lotus and British Automotive history.SpecificationMake: LOTUSModel: ELITEYear: 1958Chassis Number: 1008PRegistration Number: 6 SMLTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Right-hand DriveMake: RHDInterior Colour: YellowClick here for more details and images

A famous Turbo known as 'BADDIE' rediscovered after 20 years of hibernation; with a fascinating history, just 11,000 miles and originality to match; recommissioned ready for sale.Much of the Porsche 911's development had resulted from the factory's racing program and it was the period Group 4 homologation rules, which required 400 road cars to be built, that spurred the development of 'Project 930' - the legendary 911 Turbo. In production from April 1975, the Turbo married a KKK turbocharger to the 3.0-litre Carrera RSR engine in road trim; a combination that delivered 260bhp for a top speed of 155mph. In 1978, the Turbo's engine was enlarged to 3.3-litres, gaining an intercooler in the process, power increased to 300bhp and the top speed, of what was the fastest accelerating road car of its day, went up to 160 mph. But the Turbo wasn't just about top speed, it was also the best equipped 911 and amazingly flexible, hence only 4 speeds in the gearbox, being capable of racing from a standstill to 100mph in 14 seconds! The Turbo's characteristic flared wheel arches and 'tea tray' rear spoiler had already been seen on the Carrera model while the interior was the most luxurious yet seen in a 911, featuring leather upholstery, air conditioning and electric windows. More refined than hitherto, yet retaining its high-performance edge, the Porsche 911 Turbo sold in the thousands, becoming the definitive sports car of its age.The car presented here is a 1980 Porsche 911 (930) Turbo 3.3-litre and has a fascinating backstory. It is accompanied by the most intriguing and complete history file, full of handwritten letters and addressed invoices relating to its original owner, the legendary music industry figure, Peter Grant (5th April 1935 - 21st November 1995). Grant was best known as the manager of The Yardbirds, Bad Company and most famously Led Zeppelin from their creation in 1968 to their breakup in 1980. With his intimidating size and weight, confrontational manner, knowledge and experience, Grant procured strong and unprecedented deals for his band. He is widely credited with improving pay and conditions for all musicians in dealings with concert promoters. Grant has been described as "one of the shrewdest and most ruthless managers in rock history". In his early years, he had also been a bouncer, wrestler, actor, stunt double and eventually the president of Swan Song Records (LZ & Grant’s own label); hence, he was one of the wealthiest men in the music industry at his peak."Led Zeppelin manager Peter Grant didn’t just rule his band, he ruled the entire music industry.’"Marital problems, diabetes, cocaine addiction and the death of Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham all took their toll on Grant's health and after the official breakup of Led Zeppelin in 1980 (and the subsequent folding of the Swan Song label in 1983) he virtually retired from the music business to his private estate in East Sussex. However, towards the end of his life, he conquered his addiction and lost a significant amount of weight. His first public appearance for many years was in 1989, when he and Jimmy Page both attended a Frank Sinatra concert at the Royal Albert Hall. Grant subsequently sold his estate and moved to nearby Eastbourne. In 1992, he appeared in the film ‘Carry on Columbus’ as a cardinal and in his remaining years, Grant became a keynote speaker at music management conferences, where he was lauded by latter-day peers. On the afternoon of 21st November 1995, Grant suffered a fatal heart attack while driving to his home at Eastbourne with his daughter Helen. He was 60 years old. Grant was buried on 4th December 1995 at the cemetery opposite his mansion, with the funeral service held at St Peter and St Paul's Church, Hailsham, East Sussex. Coincidentally, it was the 15th anniversary of Led Zeppelin's official breakup. His final public appearance had been at the last night of the Page and Plant tour at the Wembley Arena in July 1995. Grant was survived by his son Warren Grant and his daughter Helen Grant.Unbeknown to lots of people, Peter Grant was also a big car fan and collector, owning, amongst others, a Dino GTS and a 1930 Bentley Speed Six which appeared in the Led Zeppelin film ‘The Song Remains the Same’, with Grant driving his wife in it at their home Horselunges Manor. In July 1980, Grant bought a brand-new Porsche 911 (930) Turbo 3.3-litre from Duncan Hamilton & Co. Ltd, specially ordered in Black with a full Burgundy Hide interior (including dashboard and knee roll), with air conditioning and a sunroof. So taken was he with this car, he registered it (from new) with his number plate ‘BAD 1’ (which was given to him as a Christmas present from the members of Bad Company; Grant also had ‘LZ 1’ on his Range Rover). By the early 1990s, Grant was a fully signed-up and active member of Porsche Club GB, attending and displaying his car at numerous events right up until his death (in 1995); at this time, his Porsche was very well-known, referred to as ‘BADDIE’.The car was seldom used (in no small part due to him being in his reclusive period from 1980 until 1989) mostly taken to shows and car events, being always serviced at Porsche main dealers (Malaya of West Sussex and Rivervale of Hove etc.), racking up only 6,000 miles by 1993. Peter died in 1995 and in June 1996 the car passed to his son Warren (registered in his name). It wore ‘BAD 1’ until 1998 (replaced then with ‘GGM 107V’). In 1998 the car (then with 7,000 miles) was reoffered (via a letter written by Warren Grant) to Duncan Hamilton & Co. Ltd. to sell (there are invoices to them for remedial work to get it ‘sale ready’). They advertised the car for sale in 1998/1999 (now with 9,000 miles) for £31,950, whilst at this time it also featured in a Porsche book.In February 1999, it was bought by Mr Ceanam Baird of Farnham, who kept the car until 2001, when Duncan Hamilton & Co. Ltd (again) sold it to Mr Michael Corregan of Cobham (but didn’t register to himself). Our vendor then bought it from Michael Corregan in May 2002 (then with 9,950 miles covered – all corroborated by MOTs/invoices). Prior to doing the deal, our vendor had it professionally inspected by Autocheck (specialist vehicle surveys) run by an ex-Le Mans Porsche engineer (report in history file) who gave it a glowing report.Life and work took over for our vendor and his Porsche, so it was safely tucked away in his garage. He used it only a handful of times, as indicated by the current mileage of 11,124. There it has sat, unmoved and occasionally run-up, for the last 15 plus years. On deciding to sell the car, our vendor has wisely utilised the expert skills of William Francis Porsche of Suffolk to evaluate and recommission the car where required. At the time of writing, this process is still ongoing, but the originality, solidity and preservation of the car are evident and impressive. The condition is wholly commensurate with the 11,124 miles covered. The car is being given a thorough going-over, renewing all fluids, belts, numerous gaskets, tyres and other consumable parts that require it. The goal is to get the car to the best possible standard as is possible in time for the auction, which will involve a fresh MOT (passed 31/10/22).This car and its history file are very special things, both for classic car enthusiasts and for British rock music fans - a potent combination. Silverstone Auctions are very proud to be offeringClick here for more details and images

Lot 604

Superbly presented, this very impressive 2-litre V8 is undoubtedly one of the best we have ever seen.Jaguar’s purchase of Daimler from BSA in 1960 yielded a number of assets, including the powerful and compact 2.5-litre V8 previously used to power the somewhat ungainly SP 250 sports model. Designed by the talented Edward Turner, the refined 90-degree unit produced more power and weighed considerably less than Jaguar’s own 2.4-litre XK unit and, recognising the potential of Turner’s engine, William Lyons and his engineers installed the V8 in the compact Mark 2 saloon to create a car with an entirely different character, one that appealed to an altogether more sophisticated customer. Fed by twin SU carburettors, the engine developed 140bhp, pushing the Daimler to a top speed approaching 112mph, accompanied by a lovely V8 burble through the twin exhausts. Most Daimler 250 V8s were fitted with Borg-Warner’s excellent T35 automatic transmission that nicely complemented the engine's characteristics offering relaxed, effortless performance. The Daimler’s cabin had the ambience of a traditional gentleman’s club, with a walnut-veneered dashboard, full instrumentation, a split bench front seat and West of England headlining. Power steering was commonly specified and most Daimlers came with leather upholstery, even after Jaguar switched to the cheaper Ambla material on the Mark 2 in September 1966.This lovely example is on offer from one of Silverstone's most valued clients, a gentleman whose eye for detail and insistence on accuracy mean that his restoration/refurbishments always attract great interest, in fact, in the last few years two of his cars have achieved figures that were Auction World Records at the time, such was the quality. Dating from 1965, this 2-Litre V8 Saloon is finished in Opalescent Silver Grey with dark blue leather, benefits from power steering and has covered just 28,658 warranted miles from new. It was supplied new by Rippon Bros. to N.F. West & Co. Ltd. in Hospital Fields Road, York and they kept the car until 1978 when it was purchased by Dennis Kenyon of Doncaster. In 1982 Trianco Redfyre Ltd became the third owner and subsequently the late Malcolm Harpin purchased the Daimler in 1985.Recent work includes a complete overhaul of the braking system including new seals, hoses, pipes and discs all round. The cooling system has received attention including a re-cored radiator and the replacement of all hoses, a new exhaust system has been fitted and the fuel system overhauled with a new fuel tank. The indicated mileage is supported by MOT Certificates going back to the 1970s and service invoices from the 1980s. The Daimler appears in superb condition for its age and retains the original interior and carpets which still have the supplying dealer plaque attached and an original Rippon Bros. brochure is in the file. It's in possession of a Heritage Certificate, the current MOT (no advisories) is valid until 23rd September 2023 and the car has been serviced and refreshed in readiness for the sale.A very rare opportunity to buy a beautifully presented Daimler V8 with super low mileage, in outstanding condition and offered at No Reserve.SpecificationMake: DAIMLERModel: 2.5 V8Year: 1965Chassis Number: P1A9592BWRegistration Number: DKU 868CTransmission: AutomaticEngine Number: 7A10188 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 28658 MilesMake: RHDClick here for more details and images

A well-engineered and correctly detailed homage to the legendary 993 RS Club Sport. The 993-generation Porsche 911 Carrera RS Club Sport is an exceptionally rare car, the last air-cooled model to wear the iconic RS moniker and possibly the wildest normally-aspirated 911 ever produced by Porsche. With only 227 ever made, they are hard to find and when you do, a tad on the expensive side so the lovely 993 on offer here may be a more realistic proposition. Finished in Speed Yellow, this 993 Club Sport Homage has been created at great expense as a distinct 'nod of approval' to the legendary Porsche lightweight 911s, utilising a 1995 993 Carrera 2 as the base vehicle before extensive modifications resulting in the outstanding Porsche that we have on offer today. Internally, the car was stripped out and fitted with a full roll-cage and black sports seats with red harnesses. Externally, to provide maximum visual impact, the optional RS Club Sport spoiler pack is fitted alongside a set of genuine and rare RS Speedline alloy wheels. For more impact and authenticity, the rear wiper has been deleted as have the front headlight washers. The suspension is H&R height-adjustable and a Cargraphic Induction Kit is fitted.A large and comprehensive history file accompanies the car together with a freshly issued MOT Certificate. With 993 underpinnings and an unrepeatable visual impact, this 3.6-litre 993 Carrera 2 presents superbly and stands head and shoulders above standard offerings.SpecificationMake: PORSCHEModel: 993Year: 1995Chassis Number: WPOZZZ99ZSS310212Registration Number: M914 GAPTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 63R07017Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 88089 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Yellow / BlackClick here for more details and images

Lot 656

Just as you would hope to find one! An unrestored, single owner, hot-hatch legend with a comprehensive up-to-date service history and just 57,000 miles. It’s the early 1990s, and the 1.8-litre Clio 16v is locked in combat for hot-hatch glory with the ageing Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9. It’s a better car by many objective criteria, but not a convincingly faster one and, in the eyes of many, the GTI still holds the crown. It took a truly special car to convincingly wrestle supremacy away from Peugeot, to really bury the old-timer and to refine the class in the process. That car was the Clio Williams.Sold with the compelling marketing strategy of an F1 team association, the Williams was actually an homologation special in the familiar mould. It was built because RenaultSport wanted to go rallying and the class maximum displacement stood at 2.0-litres. Given this was still the era of homologation into classes A and N, Renault simply had to build 2,500 road cars to qualify, although it would eventually build many more. The initial production run of the Clio Williams was limited to just 5,400 examples, of which only 390 arrived in the UK.Naturally, RenaultSport did a thorough job. The suspension used a reinforced front subframe borrowed from the Clio Cup racer, plus uprated springs, dampers, rear torsion arms and thicker anti-roll bars. The track was increased by 34mm and the 7J Speedline alloys were half-an-inch wider than the 16v’s and distinctively gold. The gearbox was stronger, too, with revised ratios. There was just one exterior colour offered for the first generation of Williams – ‘449’ Metallic Sports Blue – and the cumulative effect of body (already blistered of arch, front, and rear, and bulging of bonnet from the 16v), paint and those golden wheels was as close to hot-hatch perfection as many felt it was possible to get. It's a small car with a wheel pushed to the very extremity of each corner; a little shorter, slightly wider, and significantly lower than a Clio 172 or 182.Codenamed ‘F7R’ and developed from the 16v’s 137bhp F7P unit, the new engine featured a longer stroke and bigger bore size, and benefitted from a stronger crankshaft (borrowed from the diesel Clio) plus new pistons, camshafts and conrods, with bigger valves and a lightweight exhaust manifold. Output was now 148bhp at 6,100rpm and 126lb/ft at 4,500rpm, not enormous by today's standards but 85% of the torque was available from 2,500rpm and the car only weighed 981kg. The car presented here is a 1994 Renault Clio Williams (Phase One), #0114, and was originally supplied through Trenton Renault of Hull to its first owner, who kept and treasured this cracking car right up until last year when, sadly, it passed to a family member (but not being registered to them, so this is a 0 previous owners car). It has been indulged from day one, being undersealed from new, always garaged, and annually serviced. The indicated mileage of 57,964 is fully verifiable, supported by its bulging history file and the car really is as good as it looks, having the sort of preservation and mechanical health that you'd associate with single-person, long-term, dedicated ownership. The current custodian has lost access to his storage so is reluctantly selling it, understanding that to keep such an original and low-mileage example in tip-top condition is a commitment and is perhaps best done by an marque enthusiast. To honour the car's superb condition and maintenance history, our vendor has made sure the car was fully serviced (on 02/12/21 at 57,628 miles, costing £1,460.99) making it absolute A1 and ready for sale (including a new timing belt and all auxiliary parts, plus five new Michelin tyres, even down to a repaired oil sender dial). These very special performance hatchbacks are now rare; even rarer in this sort of condition with one owner and a very worthy addition to any car collection based on its status, history and amazing state of conservation.SpecificationMake: RENAULTModel: CLIOYear: 1994Chassis Number: VF1C57M0510844744Registration Number: L910 DUETransmission: Manual Engine Number: 00C5561 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 57000 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Williams Click here for more details and images

Rarity, performance, provenance and build quality are all on this amazing Cobra's CV. Perhaps an unrepeatable opportunity?According to the original AC advert for this special car, AC Car Group Limited created the AC Cobra 212 S/C as the evolution of the legendary 427 S/C, which dominated the 1960s and has been continuously bult to order. The 212 S/C was built on the legend of the 427s awesome performance by combining iconic styling with 21st century technologies and materials to meet targets set by ultimate sports roadsters.Factory-built back in the year 2000 this particular car features a 3.5-litre 350bhp twin-turbocharged Lotus V8 engine, mated to a full carbon fibre body which was the largest one-piece construction of its type in the motor industry at that time. This specification led AC to claim it to be, at the time, the fastest accelerating production car to 100mph ever produced. The result was a power to weight ratio of 390bhp/tonne and a 0-60mph time of 4.0 seconds, with 100mph coming up in 9. Top speed was 155mph. Power reached the ground via a six-speed Tremec gearbox and BTR Hydratrack limited-slip differential. Other noteworthy features included power steering as standard and AP Racing dual-circuit servo-assisted disc brakes all round. With its title coming from its engine capacity in cubic inches and the 'S/C' standing for 'Street/Competition', only a few of these cars were ever produced and the right-hand drive example we have has an illustrious history. X577 HRD featured for AC at the 2000 British International Motor Show, indeed its early life was served as the press car for AC and it was featured by Car Magazine, Evo, Octane and Top Gear magazines. It also made an appearance on the Top Gear television show and was driven by Jeremy Clarkson, Mark Blundell and Damon Hill along with a further appearance on Jeremy Clarksons video Top 100 Cars.Pleasingly accompanied by a factory hard top, wet weather equipment and the interior features the additions of a CD Player and full intercom, with headsets and microphones. The seats were retrimmed within the last 4 years in the correct grade of Alcantara. As you would expect of a car of this significance, this AC is accompanied by a fully documented history which contains its original build information, press cuttings, and a plethora of invoices for work carried out over the years. Furthermore, as you can see from the pictures X577 HRD also features in Trevor Legates book "Cobra. The first 40 Years" and the vendor has generously included a copy with the car. The current indicated mileage is just over 22,000 miles. All things considered, Silverstone Auctions are extremely proud to offer such an interesting piece of British Automotive history to the market. Everything is on tap here, rarity, provenance, performance and high quality. We welcome and encourage interested parties to come see the car during the NEC Classic Car Show weekend itself. SpecificationMake: ACModel: COBRAYear: 2000Chassis Number: SA9AC2120XA017518Registration Number: X577 HRDTransmission: ManualEngine Number: N2LL918000930Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 22024 MilesMake: RHDClick here for more details and images

** Awaiting new V5C from the DVLA **A lovely BJ8 that's been in current private ownership for over 30 years. The Austin-Healey 3000 is the very epitome of the classic British sports car and one of the very few cars that can be said to have attained classic status whilst still in production. Quite an achievement then, but not an altogether unexpected one considering Austin-Healey's heritage coupled with its achievements in motorsport. The 3000 Mk III (BJ8) with 150bhp appeared early in 1964 to be followed later in the year by the Phase II version which featured a brace of HD8 SU carburettors, stronger valve springs, a revised camshaft, walnut-veneered dashboard, wind-up windows, a redesigned rear chassis, addressing a long-term criticism of the car's notoriously poor ground clearance, and revised rear suspension incorporating twin radius-arms instead of a Panhard rod. Top speed was now 121mph and the 0-60mph time dipped below 10 seconds. Despite the antiquity of the basic design, the 'Big Healey' remained as popular as ever, although increasingly stringent safety and emissions legislation meant that its days were numbered and by the time production ended in December 1967, over 16,000 Phase IIs - by far the most popular variant - had been built.According to the accompanying Heritage Trust Certificate, this lovely, late-production BJ8 was despatched to Boston, USA on 7th December 1966 in left-hand drive format and was originally finished in British Racing Green with a black leather interior. It was specified from new with wire wheels, overdrive, heater, an adjustable steering column, laminated windscreen, Avon Road Speed tyres and a black tonneau cover which was pretty much the entire options list in 1966.The Healey returned to these shores at the end of the 80s and was purchased by our vendor's late husband in 1989. It has remained in current private family ownership for over 30 years meaning that this BJ8 is excitingly on the market for the first time in over three decades. Now in right-hand drive and classically finished in the striking combination of Colorado Red over Jet Black with chrome wire wheels, red-piped, black leather seats and a Moto-Lita wood-rim steering wheel, this car has clearly been well looked after during its long-term ownership. Indeed, it has resided in a car bubble for the past five years ensuring it presents so well today.Supplied with a history file, including the aforementioned Heritage Certificate, and a fresh MOT prior to the sale, this is a rare opportunity to purchase this delightful example of the final development of the venerable Healey 3000 from long term ownership and at a very sensible guide.SpecificationMake: AUSTIN-HEALEYModel: 3000Year: 1966Chassis Number: H-BJ8-L/39379Registration Number: TBCTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Right-hand DriveClick here for more details and images

One of just nine right-hand drive examples of the 60 Series 2 Aero 8s, this one-owner from new Morgan has been fastidiously maintained and has aged particularly well.Released in 2000, the Aero 8 was Morgan’s first properly ‘new’ car since their financially underwhelming Plus 4 Plus of 1964, and personified the fabulous notion of traditional styling with modern underpinnings. Ditching Morgan’s tradition of using an aluminium-skinned wooden body with a heavy steel chassis, the Aero 8 was revolutionary for both Morgan and the wider sports car world, as it featured an all-aluminium bonded chassis.Designed and engineered in-house with a ‘form follows function’ undertone, the main principle of the car was lightweight luxury. The interior features a comfortable combination of polished hardwoods, hand-stitched leather and electronic technology to create a driving environment that is efficient, ergonomic and sumptuous. Despite all this opulence, the driving experience is hugely responsive, largely due to the overall weight of the car remaining minimal at 1,180kg. Unusual as it does not feature anti-roll bars, the Aero 8 walked the fine line between sports car and supercar. Originally fitted with BMWs thumping-yet-smooth M62 4.4-litre V8, the Series 2 was upgraded to the N62 4.4 litre BMW powerplant, pushing out 333bhp and 450Nm torque, mated to an uprated 6-speed Getrag gearbox resulting in 0-62mph in just 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 160mph.This rare example is made all the more special due to its single 17-year ownership. In excellent condition both mechanically and cosmetically, this enthusiast-owned example stands its ground very well as a strong part in Morgan’s recent history. The maintenance and general care that this car has experienced through its life is evident in its outstanding condition. It's superbly presented in the lovely colour combination of Bentley Silver Pearl Metallic paint over Old Yarwood Red leather and the interior remains fresh without the usual heavy bolster wear on the driver’s side. With a valid MOT until 23rd August 2023, this Aero 8 has covered just 36,483 (atoc) miles from new, averaging a whisker over 2,000 miles a year. Contained within the significant and comprehensive lever-arch history file are details of the full Morgan agent service history from new, with any and all maintenance work undertaken and documented, along with the original owner’s handbook and associated Morgan documentation.Despite receiving initial criticism for its seemingly ‘cross-eyed’ look, the Aero 8 has aged remarkably well, with its unusual appearance now being a huge factor in its desirability. With its striking looks, rarity factor and a rumbling 4.4-litre V8, you will certainly turn heads for all the right reasons. The cherished registration number, V33 ATE, will remain with the car.SpecificationMake: MORGANModel: AERO 8Year: 2005Chassis Number: SA9ER080004J0329Registration Number: V33 ATETransmission: ManualEngine Number: 5275Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 36453 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Old Yarnwood Red LeatherClick here for more details and images
