Pat Tanner, a frequent and popular `punter` at Southern area toyfairs, died towards the end of 2010 at the age of 82. He was affectionately known as `Pat the Hat` from his wearing of a distinctive drayman`s style cap with neck protector, which he smothered in swapmeet admission badges and other items of toyfair memorabilia. Born in 1927 in Berkshire, from an early age he developed an interest in aviation, later joining the Meteorological Office, being based at various air establishments. His other great love was anything mechanical, especially motorcycles, and he was also keenly interested in motor sport, and acted as a steward at numerous events connected with motor and motorcycle clubs. He was always of a friendly disposition and was much more than `the man in the hat`. He will be sadly missed. Cliff Maddock. Minichamps: touring and sports car models, VG-E, boxes F-VG (94)
