The 3000 is the most famous model of the brand because of its enormous 6 cylinder Big six its sporty handling abilities and its quintessentially English look. Mk 1 3000 was based on Austin Healey 100-6 with the same bodywork but a different engine. Its an amazing six cylinder 2 9 twin carburetor. The car was really basic and was destined for occasional use and sports. Mk 2 was produced from 1961 to 1963 it differs from the previous model by a 3 carburetor engine a new vertical front grill. When production was started in 1961 two types of vehicle were available the BT7 a sedan two doors with hard top 2+2 and BN7 the same one with 2 seats .In 1962 few modifi cations became available : a curved windshield no plastics side panels but real glass window a real convertible top ( no more hard top!) abandonment of the 3 carburetor engine because it wasnt reliable and 2 new big carburetors were plug on it. This car is considered like more safe more luxurious and more elegant the BJ 7 Convertible was born. Our car is an authentic BJ 7 with the famous English pearl grey very famous with Austin Healey. An elegant leather and metal interior refer to a certain classic and distinguish English style but the racing atmosphere remains very strong. This car was fully rebuilt by a professional workshop few years ago.
Our Montecarlo is assuredly one of the best around. In desirable open-top 2nd series it is exceptionally sound with the usual rustprone areas free of ominous corrosion or pitting. The strut towers lower sills door bottoms or battery tray are all perfectly solid. A recent compression test also revealed a very healthy powerplant and the gearbox shifts nicely and precisely. Recent bills include some from the famous Lecoq bodywork including the fitment of a new windshield and Pirelli tires front and back. It is also accompanied by its spare wheel original factory tool kit and owners manual. The optional Zagato style bubble roof is a nice feature and once removed will make this little-gem of a mid-engined sports car an absolute joy to chuck about in. Plagued with corrosion and electrical problems the Montecarlo was short-lived but is sought after today thanks to good looks.

Moodie (Lieut. J.W.D.) TEN YEARS IN SOUTH AFRICA. 8vo (215 x 140 mm) Including a particular description of the wild sports of that country. 2 volumes: I. xii, 347. II. viii, 352 pages, lithographic frontispiece in each volume, 2 leaves of music, half brown calf titled and decorated gilt on the spines, green buckram cloth sides, marbled edges and endpapers, bookplate on each front paste-down endpaper and a corresponding small stamps below the dates on the title pages. The leather is rubbed along the edges and the corners worn. The frontispieces are oxidised around the edges and with some foxing which also affects the two leaves of music, the contents are bright and free of foxing. A good set. Moodie arrived in South Africa to join his brother Benjamin who was farming at Grootvadersbosch near Swellendam. In 1821 he obtained land at Sir Rufane Donkin`s abortive Fredericksburg settlement but the following May found himself to be almost the last person left there. It was a plan of which Lord Charles Somerset had thoroughly disapproved and with Moodie`s departure the scheme came to an end. He went to join Benjamin on Long Hope, the latter`s new property on the west bank of the Lower Bushman River. In 1828 he tired of farming and set out on a long journey through Kaffraria before settling in Grahamstown, leaving South Africa in 1832. A prolific writer, Moodie vividly describes his various activities and travels and in, `Ten Years in South Africa`, leaves an important record of the country at that time. * KONCHALOVSKY, PETR (1876-1956) Dynamo Ice Rink, signed, also further signed, numbered "1502" and dated 1948 on the reverse. Oil on canvas, 62.5 by 89.5 cm. Authenticity certificate from the Petr Konchalovsky Foundation. Authenticity has also been confirmed by the experts A. Kiseleva and I. Geraschenko. Literature: Konchalovsky. Khudozhestvennoe nasledie, Moscow, Iskusstvo, 1964, p. 151, listed as “zhi 1210”. M. Neiman, P.P. Konchalovsky, Moscow, Sovetskii khudozhnik, 1967, listed under works from 1948. Petr Konchalovsky’s Dynamo Ice Rink addresses one of his favourite themes in the 1930s and 1940s – Moscow skating rinks. Konchalovsky created a whole series of works depicting winter sports on the ice at Patriarch’s Ponds, not far from his studio (Little House by the Ice, On the Ice), and at Dynamo stadium. Such scenes had been a stock-in-trade of artists for centuries, but they found new life in the work of Soviet artists thanks to the cult of mass sport and healthy leisure pursuits, which arose in the USSR during the 1930s. The invariably upbeat and joyful mood of Konchalovsky’s paintings offers a romanticized vision of contemporary Moscow. The painter strikes a balance between the optimistic depiction of Socialist reality required of every artist at the time, and his own artistic and human credo, while avoiding internal conflict. The associations evoked by Dynamo Ice Rink, have less to do with the capital’s main stadium (Dynamo was the venue for sports parades and all the most prestigious sporting contests of the time), and more to do with yet another corner of the city, beloved of Konchalovsky. The artist does not show the main arena, but the so-called “Little Dynamo” in front of Upper Maslovka street and Petrovsko-Razumovskaya Alley, where the Maslovka artists’ colony was situated. The panoramic composition offers a view onto the ice-covered field, seemingly glowing from within, and across the city at evening, half moon suspended above the silhouettes of houses and warm light twinkling in the windows. The lively and dynamic figures of the skaters, features of the background houses, even the branches of the trees through which the artist looks are painted schematically, without detail. “People whirl around the skating rink like tea leaves in a saucer” (On the Ice, Vasily Lebedev-Kumach) and this combination of chaotic motion in an impressionistically soft landscape with a strong graphic structure provides the overall mood of the canvas. Konchalovsky convincingly transmits the dynamics and the romance of skating by night, but what he most wanted to do in this picture was undoubtedly to convey the light and airy quality of the environment and the colourful spectacle of a frosty winter evening in the city. This is what the picture achieves, creating a truly marvelous Moscow landscape, imbued with the spirit of the time.
