Boxing Tommy Farr 12x8 mounted signature piece signature dated 31. 3. 1940. Thomas George Farr, 12 March 1913 - 1 March 1986 was a Welsh boxer from Clydach Vale, Rhondda, nicknamed the Tonypandy Terror. Prior to 1936, Farr boxed in the light heavyweight division, in which he was the Welsh champion. He became British and Empire heavyweight champion on 15 March 1937. He challenged for the world title against Joe Louis in the same year and gave Louis one of the toughest fights of his career, hurting him numerous times and lasting the full 15 rounds on his way to a wide unanimous decision loss, with the referee awarding Louis the fight thirteen rounds to one, while the judges scored the fight eight to five and nine to six, both in Louis' favour. The decision was booed by spectators. Farr is considered to be one of the greatest British heavyweight fighters ever. Farr was inducted into the Welsh Sports Hall of Fame in 1997. Good Condition. Baseball vintage 1930s National Baseball Association rules and law book signed by legendary player Dizzy Dean and two others. Jay Hanna Dizzy Dean, also known as Jerome Herman Dean, was an American professional baseball player. He played in Major League Baseball as a pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Browns. A brash and colourful personality, Dean was the last National League pitcher to win 30 games in one season. After his playing career, he became a popular television sports commentator. Dean was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1953. When the Cardinals reopened the team Hall of Fame in 2014, Dean was inducted among the inaugural class. Good Condition. A collection of Corgi cars, vans trams etc dating from around 1985/86 including 007 Aston Martin DB5, Citroen 2CV6, Ferrari 308 GTS, Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 etc, They were issued by the factory to develop new logo designs suitable for the pad printing process used by production at that time.There are complete vehicles, including saloons, sports cars, vans, heritage vans, trams, tractor units, a breakdown truck, trailers and a portable compressor. Plus 10 vehicle bodies, some unassembled chassis components and 4 tanker and rigid trailers. Each pair has 1 properly assembled vehicle and 1 one loosely assembled so it could be easily taken apart. This batch includes a pair of Bond Aston Martins with ejector seats.Some of the prototypes we mocked up using transfer printing include: Volvo (Polis), Renault 4 turbo (rally), tram (Southampton Corporation Tramways), trailer (Lynx), tanker (BOC), Vans (England's Glory & Oxo), compressor (British Telecom).
A George III mahogany bureau cabinet, circa 1760, in the manner of Gillows of Lancaster, the dentil moulded cornice above two ribbed panel cupboard doors applied with stop fluted flat columns and enclosing two adjustable shelves and four short drawers over a fall font enclosing a central scallop shell carved arched central door and stop fluted columnar letter slides, further semi-secret stop fluted letter slides, pigeon holes, shaped short drawers and shallow carved apron drawers over a shaped gilt tooled morocco skiver cockbeaded drawer and two short loper drawers above three long graduated cockbeaded drawers between rounded stop fluted quarter columns and raised on ogee bracket feet with open work brass swing handles and lock plates, 117cm wide, 60cm deep, 220cm high Footnote: Inside the door of this cabinet is some literature relating to the Utopian Society, Eva Anstruther (Toddington Manor), Marian C. Brodrick and the Scratch Society 1890-91. There is a scrawled address, 27 Ebury Street, Chester Place. The brass furniture on this piece is virtually identical to that found on the Inaman clothes press, 1759, illustrated in Susan E. Stuart's 'Gillows of Lancaster and London', Volume II, Plate 590 page 49. The press in the Gillows book also sports stop fluted flat columns, albeit with more elaborate capitols. The press was almost certainly made for Mr. Charles Inman and Satterthwaite in 1759

A rare pearlware Napoleonic jug c.1813, printed and hand-coloured to one side with a Russian soldier holding a rifle over his shoulder from which are suspended the corpses of five Frenchmen, titled 'A Russian Boor returning from his Field sports', the reverse with 'Boney Sneaking into Paris at Midnight', some good restoration, 14.2cm. The French defeat in Russia at the end of 1812 demonstrated that Napoleon was not invincible nor the military genius that many supposed him to be. Both prints are taken from cartoons etched by George Cruikshank after Russian originals by Terebenev, and were published in January 1813. Cf.
