Lot 1175

MUHAMMAD ALI / CASSIUS CLAY v SONNY LISTON – LEWISTON MAINE 25th MAY 1965 SIGNED PHOTOGRAPHThe first bout was held on February 25, 1964 in Miami Beach, Florida. Clay, who was an 8–1 underdog, won in a major upset, when Liston gave up at the opening of the seventh round (after being clearly dominated in the sixth). Their second fight was in May 1965 in Lewiston Maine, which Ali won with a first-round knockout. The ending of the second Ali-Liston fight remains one of the most controversial in boxing history. Midway through the first round, Liston threw a left jab and Ali supposedly went over it with a fast right, knocking the former champion down. Liston went down on his back. He rolled over, got to his right knee and then fell on his back again. Many in attendance did not see Ali deliver the punch. The fight quickly descended into disarray. Referee Jersey Joe Walcott, a former World Heavyweight Champion himself, had a hard time getting Ali to go to a neutral corner. Ali initially stood over his fallen opponent, gesturing and yelling at him, "Get up and fight, sucker!" and "Nobody will believe this!” The moment was captured by ringside photographer Neil Leifer in what became one of the most iconic images in sport, chosen as the cover of the Sports Illustrated special issue, "The Century's Greatest Sports Photos." Ali then began prancing around the ring with his arms raised in victory.SUPERB LARGE ICONIC COLOUR PHOTOGRAPH SIZE 20” x 16” DEPICTING MUHAMMAD ALI / CASSIUS CLAY STANDING OVER SONNY LISTON AT THE END OF THE FIGHT. 1938 MG TA TickfordReg. no. NP 1067Chassis no. TA3049Engine no. MPJG3318The TA was launched in 1936, marking the beginning of the long-running T-Type series of Midgets. Replacing the PB, it was a larger car, with a 3-inch wider track – 45 inches – and 7-inch longer wheelbase – 94 inches. This made it a much more useable car with more luggage space, and easier to get in and out of without resorting to complex gymnastic routines. The 1292cc engine was also a new fitment. Derived from the Wolseley Ten, this ‘MPJG’ unit was overhead-valve, doing away with the overhead-cam format of the earlier MG’s. Breathing through twin SU carburettors, it offered 50bhp, meaning the TA could reach almost 80mph – very competitive for a small sports car in its time. The four-speed gearbox benefitted from synchromesh on the top two ratios, while hydraulic brakes were now the standard fitment. Production ended in 1939; from 1938, a Tickford drophead coupe was also offered, just 252 of which were built. These cars were bodied by Salmons of Newport Pagnell using Tickford patents – namely, the hood that could be used in three positions, fully up, half-open, and fully down. This luxurious body also featured proper wind-up windows, offering a level of weather protection of which owners of other MGs could only dream. This Tickford TA was built in December 1938, and first registered in March 1939 to a Mr B Cooke of Rednal, Birmingham, as evidenced by correspondence in the file. Also, within the file is correspondence with the DVLA in the 1970s and 1980s, plus a dealer’s advert for the car and some old MOTs, a V5C and photographs. The car has not been used for a few years and thus some recommissioning will be needed; however, it presents very well, with good paintwork, while the all-important hood is free of tears and damage.

Lot 1498

1994 Rover Mini Sprite 1275ccReg. no. WDE 877Chassis no. SAXXNYADBBD087311Engine no. 12A2BG03289211By the dawn of the 1990s, the Mini was over 30 years old, and had carved out something of a niche in Rover’s production, as both a ‘living classic’ and low-cost transport. While attempts had been made to replace it – the Metro, for example – buyers still appreciated the Mini’s character and low running costs, and Rover cleverly exploited the model’s iconic image by producing an array of special limited-edition versions. That’s not to say that a more basic Mini didn’t still hold appeal – far from it, and indeed in the mid-90s the base model – previously the City, now the Sprite, a name evoking images of the famous MG sports cars – continued to sell well, especially now that all cars came with the more powerful 1275cc engine. This 1994 Mini Sprite was purchased new by the Pughs - £6143.43 in 1994. Fitted with an optional radio and treated with ‘Supaguard’ by the supplying dealer, it has remained in the family ever since, with a healthy history file consisting of MOTs, bills for general servicing and maintenance, plus of course the original sales invoice and accompanying paperwork. Last MOT’d in 2015, this one-owner Mini will require some recommissioning before returning to the road. Showing just 18,221 miles at the last MOT, this is an unusually low-mileage example of a quintessential British classic. There is a V5C in the file.

Lot 1500

1945 MG TC MidgetReg. no. BSV 614Chassis no. TC0537Engine no. 1237XPAGThe TC was the first post-war MG, launched in September 1945. To the untrained eye, it was hard to tell the difference between this and the preceding Midget, the pre-war TB. Indeed, both shared the same engine – the highly-tuneable 1250cc XPAG, now with slightly higher compression ratio and 54.5bhp. One invisible improvement was a hydraulically-adjusted timing change tensioner. The main difference, however, was the widening of the body by some 4 inches when measured at the rear of the doors; this gave a more accommodating interior, while the actual width of the car remained the same as the TB, the running boards instead shrinking to accommodate the increased width. MG also exported the car to the US, despite not producing it in left-hand-drive. This laid the foundation for the great success of subsequent MG sports cars on the other side of the Atlantic, which proved highly lucrative for the company. 10,001 TCs were produced up to 1950, making it the most-produced MG at that point. This 1945 TC entered the Pugh collection at some point in the 1980s. It was a restored vehicle, and as the original registration number was unknown, it was issued with the current age-related number. The extensive history file includes many bills relating to work done to the car from the 1980s onwards, with the most recent bill relating to a rebuild of the braking system in 2009, together with attention to the rear axle oil seals. Other major work includes a rebuild of the steering between 1988 and 1991, and in 1999 the rebuild of the cylinder head to large-valve, unleaded specification. A detailed service and mileage record covers the period 1994 to 2009, with around 4,500 miles covered over that time. Together with the many bills in the file, there are also a selection of tax discs and old MOTs, as well as a V5C.

1988 Mercedes-Benz 560 SL Transmission: automaticMileage:44428The 560 SL convertible was the latest in Mercedes-Benz's long and much loved line of luxury sports cars. Launched in 1983 it could trace its lineage back to the 230 SL of 1963. The 560 SL was powered by a 5.5 litre, overhead camshaft V8 engine producing 227bhp, an output good enough for a top speed of 220kmh with 100kmh reachable in around eight seconds. There were improvements to the running gear in the form of anti-dive, anti-squat rear suspension, a limited slip differential and revised steering geometry. The 560 SL has a high level of standard equipment, included leather upholstery, anti-lock braking, an anti-theft alarm system, stereo radio/cassette, leather trimmed steering wheel, gear lever and an improved climate control system. This good example of this sought-after model is presented in original European specification (not the US specification with ugly bumpers!) and was delivered new to Japan in 1988. It is presented in silver with black interior, factory hardtop and a black hood which we believe has never been used. This luxurious sports car also comes with its original Becker stereo, original books and service history, and was previously dry stored for 20 years and only recommissioned by the present owner recently. It has heated front seats, cruise control and climate control. These are rare cars and with low mileage, this represents a fine addition to any classic car stable.

Lot 228

1950 Bentley Mk. VI 4¼ litre Standard Steel Sports Saloon Transmission: manualMileage:63069B285GT was delivered in June 1950 to Consul-General Axel Johnson in Sweden straight from the factory and registered in Sweden as EJP-670. In 2007 it was acquired by a Mr. Gavel who made extensive modifications, including removing the original engine and fitting a B60 which was modified to accept a supercharger (photos on file). It was used for long distance touring fitted with an innovative roof rack - now removed as well as an overdrive. The car was also raced and so appeared in the Ray Roberts book 'Special Bentleys and Bentley Specials'. Towards the end of his ownership, Mr Gavel refitted the original engine (by then refurbished) to the car. B285GT was subsequently imported to the UK on the 28th June 2013. This example is presented with new East of England cloth headlining and on new, slightly oversized, tyres (205/80/16) which give a more comfortable ride. All wheels sport chrome and black painted discs in good order with additional spats available and included in this lot. The paintwork, overall, is in good condition although the wheel arches now show light signs of bubbling and corrosion commensurate with its age although nothing needing immediate attention. Both sills appear in good order as does the front and rear bumpers although one rear overrider shows damage. Both headlights uprated to halogen show good chrome and good parabolic reflectors. The with a re-chromed radiator and base-mounted badging near the centre spotlight.Whilst in Sweden, the nearside front wing had a side mounted spare wheel, this wing and bespoke wheel cover is included in the lot. The engine bay shows genuine care lavished upon it. The crankshaft damper has been rebuilt and the vehicle is fitted with a full flow oil filter, a new coil and the original torch still present. Both the engine and engine oil are clean and, we are informed, the oil is changed regularly. The interior has been re-carpeted and edged in leather throughout, including the boot. The door-cappings, dashboard and dash-top walnut veneers all appear to have been renewed and show in good order. The rear seating and all door cards have been recovered and all seating is firm and complete although the front seats do sport aftermarket leather covers. The blind is fully operational as are the Smith dials in the dashboard including the recently rebuilt clock. Inertia reel seat belts have been fitted as well as an additional tachometer plus a discreet panel under the dashboard which includes a USB port, hazard warning lights, overdrive and screen wash. The car is fitted with a towing eye to the front and a discrete tow bar and removable tow hookAdditionally, there is an aftermarket two-speed heater to assist this subtly modernised Bentley, although the original, fully working, unit is still fitted underneath the passenger seat alongside a battery isolator. It is reported to drive well, complete with overdrive, and the modifications certainly point towards and extremely usable example. It is supplied with the original owner's handbook and a complete workshop manual. It is also supplied with a trunk in need of some work and fine leather straps to secure this to the boot lid when dropped down. The car is only for sale due to the owner reducing his collection and will have been driven 100 miles to the auction.

Lot 180

1951 Jaguar XK120 Roadster Transmission: manualMileage:35390The Jaguar XK120 was manufactured between 1948 and 1954 and was Jaguar's first sports car since the SS100 which ceased production in 1940. The XK120 was launched in roadster form at the 1948 London Motor Show as a show car for the new Jaguar XK engine. It caused a sensation, thus persuading Jaguar founder and design boss William Lyons to put the car into production. The '120' in its name referred to its 120mph top speed which made the XK120 the world's fastest standard production car at the time of its launch. It was available in two open versions; first as the roadster, then also as a drophead coupé from 1953. It was also available as a closed, or 'fixed-head' coupé from 1951. With an alloy cylinder head and twin side-draft SU carburettors, the double overhead-cam 3.4 litre straight six XK engine was comparatively advanced for a mass-produced unit of the time. With a standard compression ratio of 8:1 it developed 160bhp. This same basic design of the XK engine, later modified into 3.8 litre and 4.2 litre versions, survived into the late 1980s. All XK120s had independent torsion bar front suspension, semi-elliptic leaf springs at the rear, re-circulating ball steering, telescopically adjustable steering column and all-round 12-inch drum brakes.Manufactured on the 23rd May 1951 and dispatched to the first owner, Peter French, for the 14th June. This stunning XK120 roadster is presented in Silver with contrasting blood red trim and benefitted from a new hood frame, hood and side screens in 2016. Our vendor has owned this car since 2015 and has since treated the car to a full mechanical overhaul with RPS (Rally Preparation Services) in Oxfordshire, experts in their field. Between June 2019 and July 2021 this included stripping and overhauling the cylinder head converting to unleaded, a rebuilt steering box and culminated in a stripped and rebuilt gearbox a modified radiator and brake overhaul with detailed invoices in excess of £35,000. In period we are informed that this car competed with racing driver Billy Bradshaw and was successful winning the 1956 Walter Sexton Memorial Trophy and that a genuine C-Type head was purchased for the princely sum of £100 and fitted during this period (no longer with the car). Now a restored example with an original service manual and history folder with impeccable mechanical workmanship this car would be a fabulous addition to any collection and would be an ideal car for any XK enthusiast looking to enjoy the joy of driving these 50's sports cars.Interested parties should note that the C-Type head fitted in period when racing is no longer with this car.

Lot 135

1968 MGB Roadster Transmission: manualMileage:3279The MGB was launched in May 1962 to replace the MGA. Introduced as a four-cylinder roadster, a coupé with 2+2 seating was added in 1965. It was a relatively modern design at the time of its introduction, utilising a monocoque structure instead of the traditional 'body-on-frame' construction used on both the MGA and MG T-Types. The lightweight design reduced manufacturing costs while adding to overall vehicle strength. The performance was considered brisk at the time of its introduction aided by the relatively light weight of the car.Beautifully presented in Mineral Blue with as new black trim, this special MGB roadster has been subject to a full nut and bolt restoration and as such presents as one of the best we have seen. The supplied Heritage Certificate confirms this is a home market supplied example in its factory colours supplied by University Motors Limited and specified with wire wheels, a heater, Dunlop radial tyres, ashtray and folding hood. Dispatched 18th September 1968, commission number G23N/010599-F. The restoration was commissioned by a longstanding MG Owner's Club member who used the club to source all necessary parts and specialists. The engine was fully rebuilt alongside the gearbox and overdrive by Carlow engineering in 2008 before being fully balanced, this was the culmination of a restoration that began in 1994 when a new bodyshell was sourced and purchased from Moss. All receipts and bills from the restoration are in two folders, these show the significant expense and time taken to restore this fabulous British sports car to better than new and upon inspection we do not believe it would fail to impress any potential buyer.

Lot 271

1987 Volkswagen Golf GTi Mk II 16V Transmission: manualMileage:38213The second generation of the Volkswagen Golf and the successor to the Mk.1 Golf, was launched in Europe at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1983, with sales beginning in its homeland and most other left-hand drive markets soon after. It debuted in March 1984 on the right-hand drive British market. It was Volkswagen's highest volume seller from 1983 and ended in (German) production in late 1992, to be replaced by the Golf Mk.3. The Mk.2 was larger than the Mk.1; its wheelbase grew slightly by 3.0 in, as did exterior dimensions length 7.1 in, width 2.2 in, height 0.2 in. Weight was up accordingly by about 260 lbs. Exterior design, developed in-house by VW design director Schäfer and kept the general lines of its Giugiaro-designed predecessor, but was slightly more rounded. The Mk.2 was supplied with a wider range of engine options, including a GTD turbodiesel using the 1.6 'umwelt' (ECO) diesel engine, a DOHC 1781cc 16-valve version of the straight-four GTI as well as the tried and tested 1781cc 8v GTI, All told, about 6.3 million second-generation Golfs were built. This lovely Mk. 2 Golf GTI V16 has only covered 38,200 miles from new. The first owner was a man who was employed as a quality engineer for Bentley Motors, he cherished the car so much that he had a fall out VW due to their "œlow standards," so he serviced the car himself and had a service stamp made in his own name. He was posted to Germany where he was to stay, unexpectedly, for several years. He took the car with him and registered there. He purchased a left-hand drive car with the same specification and used that while he was there. His next posting was to America, so he returned the car to Cheshire, and it was sold to a VW enthusiast. This car sports a host of factory fitted and very extensive options including leather steering wheel, heated driver's seat, electric mirrors, electric windows, central locking, front fog lights so the lights in the grill could be used as driving lights and a split fold rear seat. In 2016 it won 'Best of Show' at the Mk. 2 Owners Club rally at Curborough. Purchased by the current owner in 2019 and placed in his private collection. Finished in Stratos Blau metallic paintwork with stripped grey interior and is supplied with a V5 registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in April 2023 and a file containing Service books and MoT history confirming the low mileage and shows that it has only covered 7,000 miles since 2006.

2000 Mercedes-Benz SL320 Transmission: automaticMileage:62947Unveiled at the March 1989 Geneva Motor Show, the new Mercedes-Benz R129 Series SL range was beautifully engineered. Based around a two-door monocoque bodyshell, its sophisticated, all-round independent suspension (double-wishbone front/five-link rear) was augmented by a host of active and passive safety features including electronic stability control, ventilated ABS disc brakes, adaptive-damping shock absorbers, front airbags and an integral rollover bar that deployed in less than a third of a second if the car ever sensed an impending flip. Suitably cosseting, the convertible's impeccably built cabin consisted of a fully automated power hood and featured such advancements as memory seats, electric windows and mirrors and an adjustable steering column. Yet lurking beneath all the luxury and refinement was a performance orientated sports car. This lovely example of this popular and final R129 model is presented in silver with a black leather interior. It comes with a book pack, service book with ten stamps and was last serviced 600 miles ago in 2020, six invoices can be seen in the history file. The car also comes with its Japanese Mileage Guarantee Certificate verifying its mileage as correct. These, last of the line V6 engined SL's are extremely popular models today and this particular SL320 represents great value for money considering its original book price.

1968 Fiat Dino Spider Transmission: manualMileage:67678The Fiat Dino was introduced at the Turin Motor Show in 1966 alongside the Dino Berlinetta GT, later to become the Ferrari Dino 246. Powered by a shared four camshaft, two litre, V6 engine, both cars benefited from a racing pedigree that went back to Ferrari's Dino 166P sports-racing unit and their 246 Grand Prix engine. The Dino model was built as either a Bertone designed coupé or a sleek Spider from Pininfarina. However, it is the Spiders, both in 2.0 and 2.4 Litre guise, that have become most sought after amongst collectors. In the words of Sports Car Market: "œThe Spider is one of the prettiest designs to emerge from Pininfarina's studio in the 1960s"¦. and even accelerating in top gear from low revs, there's a seamless delivery of power. The name Dino came about as Enzo Ferrari was on a mission to have the 2.0 litre V6 (Ferrari Dino) engine homologated to run in Formula F2. A small boutique manufacturer like Ferrari were unable to produce the required units, an agreement was publicly made that Fiat would produce the 500 necessary engines needed to meet the FIA homologation standards. These were to be installed in a GT car later designated the Fiat Dino, named after the Ferrari Dino it shared running gear with. This left hand drive Fiat Dino is presented in barn find condition and is finished in red coachwork over a black interior. Laid up in 1977 the Dino has been stored ever since and comes to the market as a total restoration project. The 2 litre V6 Dino engine turns and there are many original parts present ready for restoration, including the desirable and very rare factory hardtop. Offered with a purchase receipt to its most recent vendor, dated 14th June 1976, and its current buff UK registration document. Dino specialists 24 Hundred of Kent believe that the Fiat has never been welded before making it a good starting point for any restorer. Coming to auction at no reserve this Fiat Dino Spider will be a fantastic opportunity for the new custodian, and we are sure will be a worthwhile investment.

1953 Jaguar C-Type 'Tool-Room copy' 1953/1996 Transmission: manualMileage:2660One of the most exquisite designed ever penned by Jaguar chief aerodynamicists, Malcolm Sayer, the C-Type Jaguar is widely regarded as one of the most exquisite racing cars ever produced. The lightweight tubular chassis, designed by Bob Knight, was mated to a tuned version of the contemporary roadgoing XK120 taking it from 205bhp in SU carburettor form and raising it to 220bhp with Weber intakes. The 1951 race at Le Sarthe proved to be a nail-biting race for Jaguar with unfortunate mechanical failures for chassis 001 (oil feed pipe damage) and 002 (conrod), however 003 recorded its first victory at Le Mans for Jaguar’s XK120C, recording an average speed of 93mph and proving their reliability and speed. In 1953, the feat was repeated in spades with C-Types coming home in 1st, 2nd and 4th place, helped enormously by the fact that they now had disc brakes on all four wheels. That it was also arrestingly beautiful was just a bonus, a classic example of form following function. With only 52 ever built it is, unsurprisingly, a hugely sought-after motor car with prices often exceeding many millions of pounds, assuming you could find one in the first place. The high value of the originals has resulted in a reticence to use them in regular competition which has made way for the toolroom recreations, cars built to exacting original specifications using period components and materials. This superb all aluminium tool-room example of the final 1953 cars was hand-crafted in New Zealand some 30 years ago utilising a tuned XK120, 3.4 litre engine, drive train and components assembled onto a near-exact recreation of the C-Type chassis built by Peter Bruin who constructed a number of winning chassis for the McLaren Company in New Zealand. As a 1953 specification the car is equipped with disc brakes and triple Weber carburettors fed via a cold air box from the beautifully crafted bonnet air intake which identifies the 1953 cars over earlier ones. The tooling and body bucks were made with direct reference to an original car and Jaguar works drawings, it was then put together by highly respected racing car builder, Frank van Lingen in the early 1990s. It was first registered in 1996 and imported into the UK in 2020 where it is registered as a ‘Jaguar Sports Car’ carrying a period correct Hampshire number plate alongside the FIA class Essex Historic Technical Passport drafted and ready for application by the new owner. Examples built to such accuracy and quality do not appear for sale often hence this car could represent a great investment opportunity.Interested parties should note that the description in the catalogue, printed in error, does not apply to this vehicle please ignore it in its entirety. Full and accurate details of this stunning car are published here

1998 TVR Chimaera 500 Transmission: manualMileage:33430TVR was an independent British manufacturer of sports cars and until 2006 was based in the seaside town of Blackpool. The company manufactured lightweight sports cars with powerful engines and was, at one stage, the third largest specialised sports car manufacturer in the world offering a diverse range of coupés and convertibles. TVR's are composed of tubular steel frames, cloaked in fibreglass bodywork. The two arms of the company were TVR Engineering, which manufactured sports cars, and TVR Power, their powertrain division. The company has regrettably had a turbulent recent history and has not made any new cars since 2006. In July 2012, owner Nikolay Smolensky announced that despite analysing various potential plans to create a new car, building a new TVR model was not going to be financially viable, despite promising to do so when buying the company, and thus TVR's existence as a car manufacturer was ended. The Chimaera was intended to be the long-distance tourer of the range and as such was longer, more spacious and had slightly softer suspension than its sister car. This lovely, low mileage, only 33,400 miles from new, five litre TVR Chimaera with air conditioning has been very well looked after by all its owners. The first owner was TVR who used it as a demonstration car. In 2009 the body was removed and the outriggers on the chassis replaced. Finished in Halcyon Atlantis with Pibrock Spinnaker full leather interior, grey carpet and the lovely grey effect wooden dashboard with matching steering wheel. This TVR Chimaera is supplied with a V5 registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in March 2023 and a file containing invoices and old MoT test certificates. There aren't many cars that offer the amount of fun the Chimaera does, and this example with the five-litre engine, is no exception.

1994 Porsche 968 Club Sport Transmission: manualMileage:26900The 968 came directly from the 944 but towards the end of its development, Porsche needed a more modern motorcar with which to present the advances that were coming from the factory at that time. From 1993 through to 1995, Porsche offered a lighter-weight 'Club Sport' version of the 968 designed for enthusiasts seeking increased track performance. Much of the 968's luxury-oriented equipment was removed or taken off the options list; less sound deadening material was used, electrical windows were replaced with crank-driven units, upgraded stereo systems, air conditioning and sunroof were still optional as on the standard coupé and convertible models. Porsche could focus media attention on the Club Sport variants fast road and track abilities. The Club Sport variant achieved a 'Performance Car of the Year' award in 1993 from Performance Car magazine in the UK.This is the car all 968 drivers dream of! This Porsche 968 Club Sport is one of Just 179 UK examples supplied new at Porsche Centre, Mann Island in Liverpool and was first registered on the 29th March 1994. It is presented in Guards Red with black cloth bucket seats and has a tinted sunroof. However, this is not just your normal 968! The previous owner set about upgrading it to create the ultimate Club Sport which he felt Porsche had failed to do! So he had fitted by marque specialist Ninemeister of Warrington, who are independent Porsche tuners, a US sourced ProCharger P1-1SC Supercharger which gives this fabulous sports car 350bhp and also upgraded the discs with Porsche 993 Turbo discs and calipers. A new limited slip differential was fitted and Leda adjustable suspension, making the car very fast and agile. The result is that this car is just as at home on a circuit as it is on the road! However, to increase the scope for circuit tweak ability, it was fitted with a nylon-bushed lightweight Pro Series anti-roll bar kit from Weltmeister in the US. The car comes with a comprehensive service history from new with its original service book, wallet and even has its original Vehicle Identification sticker in one of the books. This really is a 'Wolf in Sheep's Clothing!!'

1971 Jaguar E-Type Series III V12 Coupé Transmission: manualMileage:83002By the mid-1960s, the Jaguar E-Type was appealing to the man with a young family but who were restricted by the size of the current Jaguar E-Type Coupé and its open topped sibling. This prompted Jaguar to offer a third option in the form of a 2+2 Coupé. By adding nine inches to the wheelbase and two inches in height, it was then possible to fit a rear seat capable of seating two adults in tolerable comfort. Of course the rear seat was more suited to children or, as 'The Motor' put it at the time, the car could 'extend Dad's youth for another seven years'. Robert Bell in Motor was quoted as saying at the time that all we expected to try was a new engine but what in fact we drove was a new car. Not a yowling, aggressive Ferrari-like machine with which, perhaps, most people associate a V12 engine but a very smooth, quiet and refined grand touring sports car. This superb V12 Coupé is an original right hand drive matching numbers example presented in Signal Red with black leather interior. Its 5.3 litre engine is mated to a manual gearbox and its general condition throughout can be considered to be extremely good. Its Heritage certificate shows that it was originally despatched to the Automobile Centre in Leeds on 7th September 1971, painted white and registered AD 69. The car underwent a comprehensive restoration in the 1980s, at which point its colour changed to red and a new bonnet was fitted. This wonderful E-type was also re-sprayed in the mid-2000s to bring the bodywork up to standard and much of the chrome was also replaced, including new headlight crowns, front grille and stainless steel bumpers. The car is fitted with power steering and is a joy to drive. It comes with a substantial history file including its Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate and is ready to be enjoyed.

1973 Aston Martin Vantage Transmission: manualMileage:96842The arrival of the DBS signified a real revolution at Aston Martin in the late 1960s. British stylist William Towns, a then junior Aston Martin interior designer, penned a thoroughly modern GT design that has been celebrated ever since as one of the most elegant yet muscular shapes to emerge from the golden age of Sports GT motoring. The single-headlamp version of William Towns design was launched in 1972 and named 'Vantage' and retained the well proven, six-cylinder 3995cc Tadek Marek engine. With only 70 examples built, it is now one of the rarest post-war Aston Martin models and the purest of the 'single-headlamp' Towns design that was to pilot Aston Martin through to the end of the 1980s.This truly stunning example of the rare Aston Martin Vantage is presented in its original colour blue coachwork with contrasting blood red leather trim, all in lovely order. First registered on the 27th April 1973, this matching numbers example boasts the rare and desirable five-speed manual gearbox. Owned in the extended family since 1997, this car has had significant investment in a full nut and bolt restoration. The engine block initially benefited from Aston Martin works treatment before the rest of the car was completely deconstructed and then painstakingly restored and reassembled to create a truly wonderful and collectable example that would have cost far in excess of our estimates to complete. Part of a small family collection, our owner professes to not have the time to use the car enough, although he has always kept it in impeccable order. Having only covered four thousand miles since restoration, it would now be deserving of a new home at a fraction of the restoration costs. When you consider the scarcity of the early Vantage's, the excellent condition of this car, the specialist engineering work invested and the even rarer (and highly desirable) specification of this particular car, then this certainly is a collector's item of some stature and deserving of close

1966 Sunbeam Tiger Mk. Ia - Road/Race car Transmission: manualMileage:Inspired by the AC Cobra that was effectively the British AC Ace sports car powered by the large American Ford 4.2 litre, V8, the Sunbeam Tiger first saw the light of day in 1964. Based upon the Rootes Group, Sunbeam Alpine, the Tiger - with the Ford power plant slotted into the engine bay, it became what is surely one of motoring's true 'wolf in sheep's clothing'. The tiger had a steering rack as one of the modifications by Shelby. Which made for precise handlingThe present vendor purchased this FIA 260ci race prepared Mk. Ia Tiger in 1998 from Sweden. 1972 Triumph TR6 Transmission: manualMileage:82000The Triumph TR6 was manufactured for seven years from 1969 and by the time production came to an end in July 1976, it was the best-seller of the TR range. The bodywork closely resembled that of the previous model, the Triumph TR5, but the front and rear were squared off and all TR6s featured inline six-cylinder engines. For the US market, the engine was fitted with carburettors whilst, for other world markets including the UK, the TR6 was fitted with fuel injection. It featured a four-speed manual gearbox, independent rear suspension, rack and pinion steering, 15 wheels and tyres, pile carpet on the floors and boot, bucket seats and a full complement of instruments. In total 94,619 TR6s were built of which 86,249 were sold overseas and only 8,370 were sold in the UK.First registered on 23rd June 1972, this desirable 'CP' 150 brake horsepower car was a UK home market supplied vehicle, which included the overdrive gearbox option from new. The car was purchased in the early 90's by a Mr Wallin in Berkshire who, in 1994, began what developed into a comprehensive restoration spanning six years and resulted in a stunning outcome. The burr walnut dash is as new, likewise the double duck hood which complements the lovely blue coachwork and black trim. When Mr Brown in Bracknell purchased the car in 2005 the expenditure didn't stop there. Being described as somewhat of a perfectionist he had Rees Bros. inspect the car prior to purchase. In 2013 Mr Brown had the engine reconditioned by Rees Bros. who also provided an evaluation on the car stating it was 'an excellent example of this desirable sports car that has been looked after very well. It is in first class order throughout'. Having covered only minimal mileage since, the car presents just as it would have in 2013, one of the best we have offered, purchased last year by an international collector the car has been dry stored and will be lightly re-commissioned with new oil and filters coupled to a new UK MoT for the sale. Supplied with its UK V5C registration document, previous MoT test certificates and many receipts. This example, offered in its ultimate high-powered specification, is not to be confused with the average TR6. Its condition is fantastic and it presents extremely well in a desirable colour combination.

1972 Porsche 911T Transmission: manualMileage:49000The original 911 series is often cited as the most successful competition car ever, especially when its variations are included; namely the powerful 911 derived 935 which won Le Mans as well as other major sports cars races. The original Porsche 911 with its famous and distinctive design was mechanically notable for being rear-engined and air-cooled. Production would run from autumn 1963 until 1989. The 1972 911 series model had the unusual and rare oil filler behind the right side door, with the dry sump oil tank relocated from behind the right rear wheel to the front in an attempt to move the centre of gravity slightly forward for better handling. An extra oil filler flap was located on the rear wing and for this reason it became known as an 'Oil Klapper'.This truly unique and stunning 1972 911T, originally completed on the 1st July 1972, and sold by Porsche Cars, Great Britain in Reading is presented in gleaming silver metallic coachwork with the correct blue Madras chequered trim. A rare 72' external oil filler example, this car has been owned by a fanatical collector who, with originality the key, had this fastidiously restored by one of the very few official Porsche Classic Partners in the UK, exclusively appointed by Porsche Cars Great Britain - Porsche Swindon at an extraordinary cost. Invoices from Porsche alone total over £150,000. This car was originally supplied with optional sports seats, rear wiper and sliding sunroof, and as found on the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity is a matching numbers UK market example. When restoring, the owner also gathered many period articles about the 911T which accompanies all of the original sales literature that would have been supplied with the car from new. The engine bay is as impressive as the exterior of the car with all the correct stickers in place, sitting on the correct Fuchs wheels and with excellent shut lines as you would expect. Included with the sale is period registration UCL 5K which is on retention and would be a nice addition to add on classic plates. Timeless engineering and a particular fanatical eye for details makes this one of the best period 911's we have seen. All original and restored by the manufacturer, collectors' examples do not come any better, and with the more relaxed T engine, this is a car ready to be enjoyed and a sure fire investment with someone else having spent the huge outlay on creating 911 perfection.Interested parties should note that this Lot is registered LPL 575W however the vendor is supplying registration UCL 5K which is on retention and can be applied after the sale.

Lot 244

2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Edition Transmission: automaticMileage:31535The Mercedes-Benz W204 is the third generation of the C-Class and was styled by Karlheinz Bauer and Peter Pfeiffer. AMG launched the C63 Black Series in 2012 and what an astonishing car it was, even ten years on the performance is blistering. The AMG engineers adopted a new strategy for the C63; instead of bolting on a series of goodies to make it faster as they had in the past, they redesigned the C-Class from the ground up as a dedicated performance car. It gained revised front suspension, a four-stage, seven-speed automatic gearbox, and the M156 engine. The C63 gained more power in 2011, producing 480bhp and came with composite brake discs, red or yellow brake calipers, and a carbon fibre boot spoiler. As if this was not enough AMG then wheeled out the C63 AMG Black Series. With a wider front and rear track, coil over shock absorber suspension with adjustable dampers, carbon-ceramic brakes, an AMG limited-slip differential, and a 50% bigger radiator. Now producing and impressive 510bhp and a sub-four seconds 0-60mph, the top speed was restricted to 186mph. With a rev limit of 7,200rpm this V8 engine offers astonishing performance in any gear.Originally registered on 1st September 2012, this C63 is unmarked and finished in Diamond White with black leather and Alcantara interior. The coachwork has been covered in matt PPF (paint protection film) offering both a great sporty look as well as protection for the paintwork. The black carbon fibre looks even more impressive against the white coachwork. The cockpit area of this Mercedes is very impressive with everything easily at hand, the ergonomics really are something special in this C63. The sports seats offer great comfort and firing up the V8 engine instantly puts a smile on your face. Suddenly you become aware of how much power is available under your right foot. Slip the gearbox into drive and this car becomes something of a chameleon, it will behave perfectly in slow traffic and becomes a 'supercar' on the open road with seemingly endless power available. Supplied with a V5C registration document, a full year's MoT test certificate and a service history. With just 66 right hand drive Black Edition coupés available, this example, with its full aero dynamic pack is certainly rare. Offered in fabulous condition throughout this magnificent example is not to be missed.

2011 Mclaren MP4 C12 Transmission: manualMileage:11084The MP4-12C is McLaren's first production car since the legendary McLaren F1. Designed by Frank Stephenson, who also styled the Ferrari F430, the MP4-12C was launched in 2011 and was built using a great deal of technology from McLaren's Formula One program. The 3.8 litre, bi-turbo, V8 is breathtaking, delivering 592bhp at 7,000rpm and 600Nm of torque. Combine that with a kerb weight of only 1,301kg (the comparable Ferrari 458 Italia weighs 1,380kg) and performance is simply sensational. A Formula One style carbon tub, known as a 'Carbon Mono Cell', forms the basis of the car's chassis and weighs just 80kg. In addition, the engine is mated to a seven-speed automatic dual-clutch gearbox allowing for seamless gear changes. Even the name 'MP4-12C' is a homage to McLaren's Formula One history, as every chassis since 1981 has been labelled MP4.The MP4-12C can sprint from 0-62mph in 3.1 seconds, however where the McLaren blows its rivals away is in acceleration to 125mph, only the Bugatti Veyron is faster at just 8.9 seconds, compared to the 458 taking 10.4 seconds, and it even beat Ferrari's best Enzo. The beautifully engineered cantilever wing doors look fantastic but it's the McLaren ProActive Chassis Control (MPCC) that steals the show, a revolutionary set-up that puts the McLaren ahead of its rivals. On the left of the narrow centre console is a dial marked 'H' (for handling), which allows you to switch the suspension, steering and electronic stability control between Normal, Sport and Track modes. A similar dial on the right wears a 'P' (for powertrain) and it has the same modes to tweak the response of the gearshifts, engine and manage the sound of the power plant in the cabin. Thanks to the large brakes and the spectacular rear air brake flap, stopping power is superb. In addition to MPCC, the MP4-12C gets McLaren's rear-wheel Brake Steer system, which brakes the inside wheel, if necessary, to keep you on course. On the exit of tight bends, Brake Steer then also jumps in to minimise time-wasting wheel spin and correctional control inputs. Unbelievably for a car of this nature, the MP4-12C's fuel efficiency and emissions are also unbeatable in this class, emitting less CO2 per horsepower than a Toyota Prius hybrid! The MP4-12C is a remarkable product from a remarkable company. It distils the values of the McLaren brand - technological expertise, efficiency and sheer speed - into a stunningly useable package. This fabulous example, which comes with a full service history, is presented in gleaming Volcano Red with Carbon Black Alcantara interior which looks superb with its contrast stitch being Harissa Red. The original owner specified to the factory to have a carbon fibre interior upgrade and carbon fibre engine bay panels. It sits on lightweight forged wheels with the 'Stealth' finish, comes with parking sensors front and rear, sports exhaust, satellite navigation and Meridian surround sound system. It also has electric and heated memory seats, two sets of keys, branded floor mat set and a vehicle tracking system.Interested parties should note that the vendor has the new passenger window which will be delivered to the new owner but the fitting of which will be down to the buyer. It can be fitted by most garages or Autoglass we understand.

2007 Volkswagen Eos 'custom' Transmission: automaticMileage:68215Prior to production, the Eos was shown as the Concept C car at the 2004 Geneva Motor Show designed by a team headed by Peter Schreyer, Head of Volkswagen Design in Wolfsburg. The production Eos, produced at the Autoeuropa plant in Portugal, was presented in September 2005 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Unlike the Cabrio, which was a convertible version of the Golf hatchback, the Eos was a standalone model with all new body panels, although it shared the platform and components from the Volkswagen Golf (Mk. 5). The Eos incorporates into its five-piece folding roof an integrated and independently sliding glass sunroof making the Eos the only retractable hardtop of this kind. The roof folds automatically into the boot in 25 seconds, thereby reducing boot space from 10.5 to 6.6 cubic feet. The roof was designed and is built by OASys, a subsidiary of Webasto Germany. This petrol, automatic 2.0 litre turbo Eos with that fabulous folding hardtop is presented in metallic silver with grey trim and has covered a mere 68,215 miles from new with two previous keepers. What stands this example out from a crowd is the custom front to this example, which is part VW Scirocco (the bumper and bonnet) with the front wings bespoke to fit while retaining all the original features necessary on a modern sports car. The work was performed by a young and talented design student who has moved away from aerospace to fulfil his passion for cars at Vara-Technik, the workmanship would have many thinking this was an original VW design (perhaps a design they should have considered). With a good history file and an MoT test certificate until May 2023, panoramic roof and private plate included, this practical yet sleek hardtop convertible, which seats four and still has room in the boot is a one-off and sure to turn heads. Guide Price £6,000 - £10,000

1996 Mercedes-Benz C36 AMG Transmission: automaticMileage:73170AMG was founded as a racing engine forge in 1967 by former Mercedes-Benz engineers; the letters 'AMG' taken from their names; Aufecht, Melcher and Großaspach. In 1990, with AMG having become a high-profile purveyor of modified Mercedes-Benz cars, Daimler-Benz AG and AMG signed a contract of co-operation allowing AMG to leverage Daimler-Benz's extensive dealer network and leading to commonly developed vehicles (the first one being the Mercedes-Benz C36 AMG, in 1993). On 1st January 1999, Daimler-Chrysler acquired 51 percent of AMG shares and AMG was re-named to Mercedes-AMG. In 1995, the C-Class received its first genuine performance model, the C36 AMG, to counter the new six-cylinder BMW M3. Developed with AMG, it had racing-tuned suspension and the 3.6 litre engine had a general output of 276bhp. The C36 AMG accelerates from 0-60mph in 5.8 seconds and top speed was limited to 155mph - an unlimited top speed was recorded at 169mph.This lovely example of this 'wolf in sheep's clothing' is presented in black with grey leather interior. The present owner has fitted a new alternator and brake pipes, it was last serviced in March this year. It comes with electric windows and automatic transmission. These superb saloons were the envy of many and are highly sought after, still producing great performance which competes with many much younger modern sports cars!

1998 Evante Convertible Series I Transmission: manualMileage:33644Renowned worldwide for its successful racing engines, the Spalding-based firm of Vegantune diversified into car making in the early 1980s with the Lotus Elan-inspired Evante, a separate company - Evante Cars Ltd - being set up to handle its manufacture. Although Elan-like in appearance, the glassfibre-bodied Evante employed a stronger, tubular-steel spaceframe chassis rather than the Lotus's backbone type and was powered by Vegantune's own Ford-based VTA twin-cam engine. Producing 170bhp and 140lb/ft of torque from its 1.7 litres, this engine, with its belt-driven camshafts and accessible water pump, was reckoned much easier to maintain than the Lotus version. Only produced to individual customer order, the Evante failed to weather the late 1980s recession. After only a limited number had been made, the operation was sold to a consortium of Spalding businessmen, who continued production of the Evante 140TC. In the autumn of 1992, Evante was sold to another specialist vehicle manufacturer - Newark-based Fleur De Lys Automobile Manufacturing Limited - which re-engineered the chassis to accept the 1.8 litre Ford Zetec 16 valve engine. This rare example of this British sports car is presented in Metallic Blue with blue leather interior, with an attractive Walnut dashboard. It was sent back to Vegantune main agent at 20,000 miles and was fully upgraded to Series II Sprint specification. This included new upgraded bearings and pistons, reworked big valve head and camshafts, twin 45mm twin choke carburettors, new stainless steel exhaust and upgraded Spax adjustable coil over shock absorbers. The car also benefits from a new hood and comes with its tonneau covers which are in good condition. There are two history folders accompanying the car with specification sheets, old MoTs and receipts for work carried out. The current vendor has fastidiously maintained this great little sportscar and she now has brand new carpets, an engine that runs very well and brakes that work efficiently. Powered by the lively and great sounding 1700cc Twin Cam engine which provides exciting performance with great handling to match. Marketed originally as the 'Lotus eater' it is easy to see why.

1974 Triumph GT6 Mk. III Transmission: manualMileage:105400A fastback Spitfire powered by the 2000 saloon's two litre, six-cylinder engine, the GT6 arrived in October 1966 with production running until 1973. Like the Spitfire, it inherited what was essentially the Triumph Herald's chassis and running gear which had already proved capable of handling six-cylinder power when developed for the Vitesse saloon. A comfortable ride was considered vital for the all-important North American market so the GT6 inherited the Herald/Spitfire's softly sprung rear swing axle, although the latter arrangement would be superseded by lower wishbones on the GT6 Mk. II. At the same time the engine received a power boost courtesy of the TR5 cylinder head and 'hotter' camshaft, maximum output increasing from 95 to 104bhp. The restyled, last-of-the-line, Mk. III adopted the contemporary Spitfire's simpler 'swing-spring' rear suspension. Brisk performance (100mph+) and stylish, the GT6 well deserved its 'mini E-Type' sobriquet and today, is one of the most sought after post-war Triumph sports cars with only 13,042 Mk. III examples manufactured.Acquired by the current vendor in 2018, this GT6 has undergone an extensive bodyshell restoration completed in September 2021 and is now in excellent condition. The doors, bonnet and boot lid gaps are very good, with new windscreen and rear window rubbers. The front suspension has been stripped, powder coated and re-bushed and the tan interior is in good condition, having been restored by the previous owner. The seats have no rips, tears or holes and a new headlining has been fitted. The GT6 sits proudly on a set of very rare 5J x 13 steel wheels which were professionally restored, and powder coated and are shod with new tyres. The engine and gearbox were also extensively rebuilt by the previous vendor in 2017/18. The history file contains various photos and receipts from the extensive restoration, previous MoT records, and the current UK registration document. The registration number which is included in the sale is the original number allocated to the car in 1974. This is a wonderful example and one of the nicest we have seen.

1973 Triumph TR6 Transmission: manualMileage:10021The TR6 was introduced in 1968 and was the bestseller of the TR range when production ended in July 1976. The bodywork closely resembled that of the previous model, the Triumph TR5. The design house, Karmann Consultants, squared off the front and back ends to give the TR6 its sharpened look. Fitted with a 2.5 litre, in-line, six-cylinder engine, the TR6 could reach 60mph in just over 8.5 seconds and onto a top speed of 120mph. It featured a four-speed manual transmission with an optional overdrive unit and semi-trailing arm independent rear suspension, 15 wheels and tyres, bucket seats and a full complement of instrumentation. This lovely example of the TR6 is offered in British Racing Green with beige trim. The paintwork gleams and the black hood is in good order. Our vendor states that this TR6 has been reliable and provided many a joyous weekend drive. More recently this Triumph has been so well thought of by its owner that he parked it in his sitting room. Offered to auction with a V5C registration document this MoT exempt sports car is a genuine, privately owned, honest and useable classic. This TR6 represents fabulous value-for-money motoring and would make an ideal addition to any collection or a perfect starting place for any classic car enthusiast.

1978 Pontiac Trans Am Transmission: automaticMileage:20006Although Pontiac marketers deemed the sleek 1970 Firebird, 'The beginning of tomorrow', no one could have imagined the basic car would be produced for a further twelve years. The five original 1970 Firebird models were all coupés and more than ever, most were sports cars at heart. Reduced power ratings for 1971 were offset by availability of Pontiac's enormous 455 in Formula and Trans Am models. The signature Trans Am 'chicken' hood appliqué first appeared in 1973 and in this year as well as the one that followed, a mighty SD-455 engine powered a limited number of now extremely collectible Firebirds.Late 70s Trans Ams are enjoying renewed popularity today with fond memories of the movie 'Smokey and the Bandit', featuring Burt Reynolds, in which he speeds across state borders in a 1977 Trans Am; the police and state troopers in hot pursuit.Offered in the traditional black with black trim, this Firebird has an upgraded 6.6 litre engine that roared into life on request. The impressive looks of this car are enhanced by period correct decals which include a gold eagle on the bonnet and 'Trans Am' logos to the back and side. Offered to auction with a V5C registration document and various bills and receipts, this MoT test exempt Pontiac offers enormous head turning appeal for a relatively small outlay.

1971 Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Veloce Transmission: manualMileage:9885The first of Alfa Romeo's Bertone styled coupés, the 1.6 litre Giulia Sprint GT, was launched in 1963. Mechanically the stylish new 2+2 was much the same as the Giulia TI sports saloon, featuring a five-speed manual gearbox, independent front suspension, coil-spring live rear axle and disc brakes all round. A 1300 model, the GT Junior, arrived in 1966 and the range was further extended the following year by the launch of the 1750 GTV, the latter powered by a 1799cc, 118bhp version of Alfa's classic twin-cam, four-cylinder engine, in a four-headlight version of the existing bodyshell running on 14-inch wheels. A short-lived but nevertheless popular model, the 1750 GTV underwent a minor mechanical and styling revision part way through production before being replaced by the 2000 version in 1972. More powerful than the 1600 but sweeter running than the 2000, the 1750 is the choice of the Alfa Romeo enthusiast who knows their GTVs. Driver's cars par excellence in the Alfa tradition, Bertone's timelessly elegant Giulia coupés are among the most exciting sports saloons of the 1960s and today all versions are highly sought after.Delivered new to South Africa, this desirable and sought after right hand drive GTV made its way to the UK in 2003. Built in September 1971, the car appears to have been used regularly until its export to the UK with the included South African tax disc showing it was valid until the end of May 2002. Since arriving in the UK, the car has had four owners including the vendor, with the supplied MoT test certificates showing it was on the road for the majority of that time. The car was put into storage in 2017 with the plan being to fully restore the car to a concours level. At the time the owner covered the car's red paint in a special grey, (and easily removable), plastic paint to protect the car from rust. This lovely little Alfa is reported to be in good mechanical condition, running and driving well before it was put into storage. The restoration never happened though and was subsequently taken on by the vendor who saw the car as a great base for a restoration. However, a change of plans means that he is no longer going to see the project through and so has decided to move the car on.Supplied with V5C registration document, service history file, past MoT test certificates and import documentation. Appearing to be very solid and complete car, this wonderful little Alfa would certainly make for a great project whether it just be recommissioned, or subject to a full restoration.

1961 Daimler SP250 Dart 'B' Specification Transmission: automaticMileage:64489The controversially styled Daimler Dart was introduced at the New York Motor Show in 1959 and had its European debut at the 1959 Earls Court Motor Show; the Dart name was soon dropped after the threat of legal action from Chrysler who had a car of that name within their Dodge division. Thereafter this new sports car was known as the Daimler SP250.  Power was provided by the 2.5 litre, Edward Turner designed, V8 that soon became revered for the smoothness in its power delivery with 140bhp on tap.  Independent double wishbone front suspension at the front and half elliptical springs at the rear with a live rear axle kept the car on the road with stopping power supplied by hydraulic disc brakes on all four corners.  The coachwork was constructed with glass reinforced plastic providing a tough, strong and lightweight shape that enhanced performance with exciting and non-traditional looks.  The 120mph plus capability was recognised by the police and they were soon being used as high-speed chase cars. DMY 160A underwent a full nut and bolt restoration which included a complete engine rebuild including pistons, bearings and all new valves and guides to the cylinder heads. During the restoration the car benefitted from marque specialist, Robert Grinter's rear gas telescopic suspension upgrade and the essential rack and pinion steering conversion. There are two 7" electric fans fitted on a thermostat which, coupled with the automatic transmission, means that the car is just as comfortable in the city as it is on long cruises. The body was stripped to the gel coat and repainted in Jaguar Opalescent Grey, it has a new hood and has been completely retrimmed in Oxblood leather. The car was purchased new in June 1961 from Stratstone, London, by Dr. Derek Ivor Segall, a Harley Street doctor who lived in the fabulously named house 'By the Way', London Road, Stanmore, who ordered the car with a very rare automatic transmission. Dr. Segall kept the car for four years, before selling it on to an Anthony Mitchell who lived in Kensington High Street, London, who then went to live in Northern Ireland, taking the car with him. The car remained there until it was bought and restored in 2016 and finally returned to its former glory.Supplied with the UK V5C registration document, original buff log book, Heritage Certificate, history file and photographic record of its restoration along with an editorial piece in 'Royal North of Ireland Yacht Club' magazine which covers the cars restoration. This rare automatic SP250 offers great usability along with a desirable history and presented in nicely restored condition.

2001 Porsche 911/996 Carrera Transmission: automaticMileage:102000The 996 is the internal designation for the Porsche 911 model manufactured and sold between 1998 and 2005. On its debut, the 996 featured the most significant changes to the Carrera model since its 1963 introduction, namely the water-cooled engine replacing the previously air-cooled unit. Progressively stringent noise regulations, environmental concerns, a higher expectation for refinement and a high-performance, four-valve per cylinder engine made the switch necessary. Other changes included a sleeker body with a more steeply raked windshield and a redesigned interior. The performance characteristics remained superb with reliability at its core. The Targa models now featured a full glass and electronically operated roof. The 996 was another step forward for Porsche, making cars that not only excited their fan base but appealed to those who wanted a comfortable and practical everyday sports car that could sprint to 60mph in a shade over five seconds. This Porsche 996 was delivered new in 2001 to a Mr Doswell in Southampton, who according to the original order supplied in the history paid £61,240. This included PSM, parking sensors and onboard computer as options. With just three previous keepers and presented in Artic Silver Metallic with black leather trim this example has been comprehensively serviced and cared for initially by Porsche Main dealers, with 10 service stamps until 2012 and 88,193 miles. HP Motorsport took on maintenance from 2013 with three further services; the last at 101,314 miles which was a major service and invoices for which can be found in the history file. Works include the important IMS bearing and timing chains replaced. This example also has a new MoT test certificate until April 2023, two sets of keys, a full book pack and tracker, making it a very affordable and desirable 911 with a good history file. When prices rise for 996's (and they will) you could be one of the lucky ones that can say they bought a 911 for under £20,000!

2005 Mercedes-Benz C55 AMG Transmission: automaticMileage:60200The C55 signified a return to AMG's V8 roots, after barely a three-year flirtation with a supercharged V6. AMG found 8,100 homes for the C32, but the AMG engineers seemed much happier now that there was a serious, big-capacity, naturally aspirated 5.4 litre V8 powering the meatiest C-Class and the badge is there to, well, to ensure the owners don't forget. It is not the performance, AMG claimed 5.2 seconds to 62mph for both C55 and C32, or even the transformation to a deep, wonderfully muscular exhaust note, but the makeover in the dynamics that stood the new sports saloon apart. The C55 marked a small, but perceptible, shift towards a sharper, more sporting focus, that set it closer to the M3 than any previous AMG hot-rod C-Class.This lovely example imported from Japan is presented in white with black AMG Sportline leather interior and comes with electric sunroof, electric heated memory seats, cruise control, electric folding mirrors, paddle shift controls and parking sensors. This quick sports saloon comes with full service history, 10 invoices and its original books.

Lot 303

1997 Bentley Turbo R Transmission: automaticMileage:59720The Bentley Turbo R initially inherited the turbocharged engine from the Mulsanne Turbo and also sported a retuned suspension and wider tyres on alloy wheels, quite a departure for a Bentley. From the 1987 model year, however, the Turbo R's V8 engine was re-tuned with new Bosch MK-Motronic fuel injection for added torque. Other modifications carried out at the same time included new sports seats and a higher rear axle ratio. Motor Trend called the Turbo R 'the first Bentley in decades deserving of the famous name'. The suspension changes, though seemingly subtle, transformed the heavy car into a real performer and slotted above the Bentley Mulsanne S and Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit and it carved a well-deserved niche in the world of performance saloons. This Turbo R was first registered on 9th May 1997 and has covered a mere 59,720 miles from new. Having had just three owners from new the Bentley is offered in the desirable metallic green coachwork over a cream leather interior and is presented in good order throughout, although there are some age related blemishes which you would expect for a car of this age. The paintwork is generally good and the interior presents nicely. The most recent vendor acquired the vehicle in 2009 forming part of his collection and it has more recently been dry stored. Offered with a history file including old MoT records and the UK registration document.

1954 Singer 4AD SM Roadster Transmission: manualMileage:68600The Singer Roadster is a nine tax horsepower open 2/4 seater sports-tourer automobile manufactured by Singer from 1939 until 1955. It was launched in March 1939 as an open version of Singer's Bantam saloon and using many Bantam parts. After less than six months production was suspended for the duration of World War II then restarted with the engine moved forward, more interior space and other minor modifications. The Roadster was upgraded to the 4A model in 1949 with a four-speed manual gearbox. The short lived 4AB and 4AC models were released in 1950 followed by the 4AD SM Roadster in 1951. Singer Roadsters competed with the MG T series. The flowing lines of the car made it one of the most attractive roadsters in the market. The last cars were made in 1955. A few special Singer 4A car bodies were made by coachbuilder James Young. This pretty 4AD roadster is presented in green with cream trim and wet weather gear. First registered in February 1954, this example was purchased from new by the family and transferred to the daughter in 2005 and has been in professional storage of late. It has been regularly started and as such the chassis and running gear are in good order though the body could benefit from some minor attention. Supplied with the original bill of sale. The electrics are all functioning well and but for recommissioning this would make a fabulous weekend roadster, inexpensive and great fun.Guide price £8,000 - £12,000Interested parties should note that the registration displayed on this car is not sold with the lot, a new age-related number has been applied for and will arrive in due course. Historics hold no responsibility for the DVLA timelines, but we are informed this process was started two weeks ago.

1961 Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster (Outside bonnet lock) Transmission: manualMileage:34474When introduced at the 1961 Geneva Motor show, the new Jaguar E-Type caused a sensation with its sleek and timeless design backed by its staggering performance. Its design owed much to the racing D-Type, in fact, the E-Type would be one of the last great sports cars developed directly from a successful competition predecessor. Just as with the D-Type, a monocoque tub formed the main body/chassis while the engine and gearbox were supported by a tubular spaceframe. The engine was the same 3.8 litre, triple carburetted 'S' unit first offered as an option on the preceding XK150 model. With a claimed 265bhp giving a top speed of 153mph the E-Type was in the same league as the Italian V12 engined cars of the time. Features on the E-Type included disc brakes all round, rack and pinon steering, coil springs and double wishbone, and independent front suspension. The rear suspension broke new ground for a large capacity sportscar being independent at a time when most of its rivals relied on the traditional live rear axle. Often called the most beautiful production car of all time, the E-Type remains an automotive icon of design, engineering and speed. This delightful left hand drive Jaguar E-Type Roadster, fitted with the correct 'external bonnet locks' was supplied by Jaguar Cars, New York on 28th June to R. Donan, Excelsior, Minnesota. It is thought the car went to California shortly after registration, where it has spent most of its time, confirmed by its rust-free and original condition. Chassis number '875119' was supplied with engine number R1156-9, which was replaced with a 3.8 litre engine number R2131-9. This was also manufactured in 1961. The original engine block is supplied with the car and we are advised it could be restored and refitted to the car, should the new owner choose to do so. At the time of the engine change the original Moss gearbox was removed and replaced with a much more user-friendly synchromesh gearbox from a later 4.2 litre example. The car was purchased by the current owner in California and repatriated to the UK in February 2014, however prior to the car leaving the US she received a light restoration, retaining its original colour combination of Opalescent Gunmetal Grey with light blue interior. During the restoration it was found that the body still had most of its original features including three-piece, handmade doors, welded in bonnet louvres, additional drain holes in the boot channel and petrol filler aperture. Other notable original features are the Butler rear number plate lights, Dunlop brakes and the factory supplied cooling fan. The only other significant upgrade, other than the all-synchromesh gearbox is an aluminium radiator. This lovely E-Type is supplied with a V5C registration document, a copy of the Californian title, the Heritage certificate, a file containing photographs and various invoices and the original 'First Edition' handbook. Being the 119th left hand drive E-Type manufactured this is a very rare opportunity to purchase a good example of the 'Holy Grail' of E-Types and is one of the most desirable British icons available today.

Lot 221

1988 Jaguar XJ S Convertible Transmission: automaticMileage:50108The Jaguar E-Type finally gave way to an all new and more efficient Jaguar, based on the XJ Saloon, and the XJS was launched in September 1975. This new luxury grand tourer, although never quite having the same sporting image as the E-Type, was actually more aerodynamic with the final example leaving the production line on 4th April 1996. At that stage 115,413 units had been manufactured during a 21-year production life. At launch, the newcomer was powered by Jaguar's silky smooth 5343cc V-12 engine mated to either Borg Warner Model 12 automatic or manual gearboxes. V12 engine cars were unusual at this period of time with notable exceptions coming from Italian luxury sports car makers Lamborghini and Ferrari. The specifications of the XJS compared well with both Italian cars; the XJS was no mean performer and would hit 60mph in 7.6 seconds and had a top speed of 143mph.This excellent 1988 Jaguar XJS Convertible with the automatic gearbox was retained by Jaguar Cars when new to be used by the then Chief Executive Officer Mr. John Egan. This car has been looked after and fully maintained and has only covered 50,000 miles. It has been in a private collection since 2016, finished in Artic Blue metallic with Isis Blue leather interior, complemented with the walnut veneered dashboard and wood rimmed steering wheel. This lovely XJS Convertible is supplied with a V5 registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in April 2023 and the service and handbook pack which shows the mileage up to 2006 at 45,459 miles. The MoT history then confirms the total mileage of 50,089 at the MoT in October 2020. Its paintwork and interior are in superb condition considering its age and being the more desirable V12 model, this surely must be one of the finest examples on the market today.

Lot 251

1965 Porsche 356C Transmission: manualMileage:922Introduced in 1948, the Porsche 356 set a new standard for small sports cars and proved adaptable to all forms of motor sport including circuit racing and rallying. In 1951, a works car finished first in the 1100cc class at the Le Mans 24 Hour Race, thus beginning the marque's long and illustrious association with La Sarthe. Porsche subcontracted the cabriolet body construction to several different coachbuilders, the car presented here being the work of its close neighbour and collaborator, Reutter. Development saw the 356's original split windscreen replaced by a one-piece and a Porsche synchromesh gearbox adopted. 1955 marked the arrival of the restyled 356A, the newcomer being readily distinguished by its curved windscreen and 15, down from 16, wheels. Launched in September 1959, the 356B represented significant advances in driveability and comfort over earlier 356 models and is a pleasingly quick way to enjoy the traditional Porsche values of quality, reliability and mechanical robustness. This attractive Porsche was supplied by franchised dealer AFN Porsche of Isleworth in 1965. DVLA records show that the car has had only 2 owners in its 57 year history. The vendor has had this 356 in his possession since September 2003. During his tenure this enthusiast owner has maintained this Porsche well, with the files for the car containing various bills and receipts from Porsche specialists. This right hand drive example started on request and ran smoothly on a recent inspection. Also present is a Porsche certificate of authenticity and a V5 registration document. At some point in its history the colour of this 356 was changed from blue to the silver we see here today. We are also informed that the original engine has been replaced with a 75bhp version. This desirable example is offered to auction with a realistic estimate and should be considered an enjoyable investment opportunity.
