25 Cents. 1921. ICCS graded Gem Uncirculated-65. Although nowhere as scarce as the elusive 1915 25 cent, the 1921 survives in mint-state in far fewer quantities than comparable mintages from the early 30's, and is thus highly prized by collectors. This premium example sports an array of autumnal toning in hues of orange-gold and chestnut on the reverse, deepening to red-violet and continuing on the obverse towards indigo. Fully struck with razor sharp detail throughout and well preserved surfaces. Tied 1 of only 4 finest graded by ICCS.
25 Cents. 1934. ICCS graded Gem Uncirculated-65. 1934 was the second lowest mintage of all George V 25 cents, with just 384,350 pieces struck. This example sports a wintery palette of silver-grey toning with touches of deeper steel-blue drifting around the perimeter of both sides. The frosty lustre adds to the icy effect. A few wispy contact marks skate across the obverse fields but do not diminish the generous eye appeal that is created by the boldly struck details. Tied one of 5 finest graded by ICCS, and a very cool coin.
50 Cents. 1904. ICCS graded Gem Uncirculated-65. Being the second scarcest date from the Edward VII series, with a mintage of only 60,000 pieces, the 1904 50 cent is naturally astonishingly rare in gem mint state, with only two examples certified MS-65 by ICCS, and just one other graded by PCGS which sold in the Canadiana collection in 2010. This marvellously preserved example sports a silvery-grey patina, accented by hints of russet and blue-green along the rims. The considerable mint lustre complements the sharply struck design details, lending especially strong eye appeal to the obverse. Close inspection with a 10x loupe is required to discern the few minor traces of contact. A superb rarity unlikely to be surpassed in the near future and a resplendent addition to an advanced collection.
50 Cents. 1931. ICCS graded Gem Uncirculated-65. 1931 marks a distinct drop in mintage quantities for 50 cent pieces, from a heady high of over 1.1 million in 1919, to a mere 57,581 for this year, a trend that would continue until the end of George V's reign. This example sports storm-grey and slate blue toning, with traces of chestnut hues among the legends and wreath. A deep lustre emanates from below. Well struck with impeccable surfaces. One of the top 10 coins certified by ICCS.
