Antique print - Cecil Aldin - Approx. image size 18cm x 25cmCecil AldinCecil Charles Windsor Aldin (28 April 1870 – 6 January 1935), was a British artist and illustrator best known for his paintings and sketches of animals, sports, and rural life. Aldin executed village scenes and rural buildings in chalk, pencil and also wash sketching. He was an enthusiastic sportsman and a Master of Fox Hounds, and many of his pictures illustrated hunting. Aldin's early influences included Randolph Caldecott and John Leech.Artist Cecil Aldin is credited for revitalizing sporting art in England after a decades-long lull in the genre. Born in 1870, Aldin was an avid drawer and persuaded his parents to let him pursue the arts. He dedicated himself to the study of both art and anatomy, and on the eve of his 21st birthday, his tenacity was rewarded when The Graphic newspaper purchased one of the first Cecil Aldin originals for sale. Critics praised him, noting that Cecil Aldin's prints of dogs were excellent, showing hitherto hidden facets of their characters. As a keen sportsman and hunter, Aldin often accepted horses as payment for his commissions. Indeed, Aldin once claimed he painted merely to fund his hunting hobby. Nonetheless, Cecil Aldin's prints appeared in distinguished galleries across England.

It shared a lot of its chassis and running gear with the Griffith, as well as its Rover V8 engines, but was pitched as the long distance tourer of the range, so was longer, more spacious inside, and had somewhat softer suspension. This 3952cc V8-engined example was registered in April 1997 and, since then, has covered an indicated 79,999 miles. Finished in green with grey leather interior, it's in very presentable order, although some stonechipping to the nose is apparent, and there are some areas on the bonnet and front wings where the paint is wearing a little thin. 1968 Jaguar S-Type 3.4 M/ODMake: Jaguar Model: S-Type Year: 1968Mileage: 19155VIN: P1B9517DNConfiguration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: TMK586FTransmission: manualThe previous owner of 33 years reputedly spent in excess of £30,000 restoring this manual gearbox with overdrive Jaguar S-type 3.4, with the job completed during 1990. However, after that, his employment commitments abroad meant that the car wasn't really used and was dry-stored instead for around 28 years. The last few years of its storage have been under a cover outside, however. The car, in green with cream leather interior, was registered in July 1968, and the mileage is recorded on the odometer as 19,155 miles. Three former registered keepers are noted. Included in the large history folder are copies of old V5 documents, photos of the car, and invoices and correspondence detailing its restoration and what was spent on what, and when. There are also old parts catalogues, magazine features and other bills and correspondence dating back to the 1970s. Having been off the road for so long, renovation work will now be required to return this example of one of Jaguar's best-loved classic sports saloons to the road.

The 1.4S was a comparatively rare model as a halfway house between the family runarounds and the more potent XR2, with a sunroof, driving lamps, and XR2-type bumpers and sports steering wheel. The vendor tells us that the vehicle was off the road for 14 years, in dry storage (which is backed up by the online MoT history), but has had a recent full respray and a fresh engine oil service. Four former registered keepers are recorded by the V5C, which is present. The MoT is valid until June 2022, with the certificate also in the paperwork file. The folder also contains some of the original booklets, albeit not in their Ford wallet. These include the owner's handbook and audio equipment instructions. In 1980, the flagship 500SL model debuted with a 237bhp 4973cc V8 engine, and stayed as part of the line-up until the R107 range came to an end during 1989. This example was registered in September 1983 and has three former registered keepers according to its V5C, which is present in the paperwork file. The odometer reading is 50,923 miles, and while this isn't warranted, the service booklet is stamped up to 37,546 miles in September 1998. Checking with the online MoT history, the test in April 2006 was undertaken at an indicated 41,015 miles, with a low annual mileage since then. Accompanying the service booklet is the original leather document wallet with the owner's manual and Sony radio/cassette player instructions. Additional paperwork includes an RAC vehicle history check, 2014 tax disc, and MoT certificates from 2019 and 2021. The car also comes with a spare set of master keys as well as its factory hard-top. Inside and out, the overall condition of this dark blue Mercedes with pale grey interior is good.
