1972 Mercedes-Benz 350 SL Transmission: automaticMileage:101410Introduced early in 1971, this impressive two-seater sports car replaced the 280 SL. The body and chassis of the 3rd generation SL was considerably heavier and longer than its predecessor, but still showed a slight resemblance to them. The front and rear axles were similar to those of the 200-250 models, with independent wheel suspension using double wishbones and anti-drive control at the front and a diagonal swing axle at the rear. A four-speed automatic transmission was available as an option. The 3.5 litre V8 engine underwent slight modifications to those being used on other models and the gear lever was placed on the floor in the centre of the car. The standard transmission provided a top speed of 130mph and a very respectable 0-62mph in 8.8 seconds. As with the previous generation SL's, the vehicle came as an open roadster with removable hardtop roof. The R107 body shape went on to become one of the longest running styles from Mercedes-Benz, remaining in production until 1989 with some 13 variants during that time. Even by today's standards for sports cars the 350 SL's spacious cockpit looks excellent with great ergonomics.Presented in red coachwork with black trim, this early example boasts the desirable 3.5 litre V8 engine. Owned by our vendor for summer tours in 2022, he has recently completed maintenance works such as new timing chain, injector seals, shock absorbers and various suspension bushes, coupled with a new MoT test certificate valid until July 2023. We believe this example was repainted circa ten years ago. The vendor states that the bulkhead chambers are solid and water tight and the sills are very solid. Offered without a service history but with a few invoices for maintenance and MoT test certificates, many of which go back to the 1970s.Guide Price £10,000 - £15,000

1973 MG B Roadster Transmission: manualMileage:57124Conceived in the late 1950s and launched in 1962, the MGB would turn out to be one of the most successful sports cars of all time. Attractively styled, cheap to run and easily maintained by the home mechanic, the 'B' carried on MG's traditional role of providing affordable, sports car motoring for the ordinary enthusiast. The MGB was mechanically similar to the preceding MGA, though with a heavier, unitary construction bodyshell. To compensate for the newcomer's increased weight the existing B-Series engine was stretched from 1,622 to 1,798cc, while the MGB's aerodynamically efficient lines made the most of the maximum available 95bhp to achieve a top speed which just bested the magic 'ton'. A 'right first time' design that changed little over the years apart from the adoption of a more robust five-main-bearing engine in 1965 (fitted from the start of GT production that autumn) a minor facelift for 1970 and the adoption of plastic bumpers (to comply with US legislation) for 1975, the 'B' enjoyed an 18 year production life and sales totalling in excess of 500,000 cars. Its popularity remaining undiminished today, the classic MGB is one of the easiest sports cars of its era to run and maintain in the 21st Century, being served by a worldwide industry of spare parts and service providers. This MGB was registered on 25th October 1973 and has had only two owners in its 51 year lifetime. Presenting well in white with a contrasting black interior, we are informed this iconic British classic drives with no known faults. We are also informed that the hood has been replaced and works well. The history file for this low mileage example contains various servicing bills and receipts and an invoice for over £1,600 for works to the engine that were completed in September this year. The sale of this attractive MGB includes the cherished number plate, a V5C registration document and is offered without reserve.

1988 Ferrari Mondial Cabriolet (3.2 litre) Transmission: manualMileage:64787With a name reminiscent of the 500 Mondial race cars from the 1950s, the Ferrari Mondial was a replacement model for the Ferrari 308 GT4. The Mondial was the first Ferrari where the entire engine, gearbox and rear suspension assembly was mounted on a detachable steel subframe, making engine removal for a major rebuild or cylinder head removal much easier than it was on previous models. The steel coachwork was taken care of by Carrozzeria Scaglietti and built over a lightweight steel box section space frame. The Mondial 8 is considered one of the marque's most €˜practical' vehicles, due to its 214hp, proven drivetrain, four seats and relatively low cost of maintenance; major services can be performed without removing the entire engine/transmission subframe. This €˜barn find' example is presented in the rare colour combination of metallic black with grey leather interior. It is believed to be one of only 57 right hand drive examples of this model made worldwide and it comes with its original matching numbers 3.2 litre V8 engine (code F105C) and gearbox. This rare Italian sports car is in need of complete restoration, but we are told that when a battery was connected the windows worked and dashboard lights came on! It has been off the road for about 18 years and the engine was removed some years ago to repair the sub frame. It comes with all handbooks, service book which is stamped by a mixture of main dealerships and specialists up to 59,885 miles.  It also has its original Gucci wallet with Ferrari logo on it for all the books, original PDI certificate, a file with many old invoices and two sets of keys. Offered with no reserve, this presents a great project and will once finished, provide the next owner with many years of pleasurable driving in one of Italy's finest.

Lot 136

2004 Mercedes-Benz SL55 F1 Transmission: automaticMileage:72000The fifth generation of the legendary SL series of two door convertible sports cars was known as the R230. It featured a fully retractable hardtop that was marketed as the Vario Roof, a first for the SL class although it had been available on the smaller SLK model since 1997. The flagship models were built by AMG in the form of the SL55 and SL65, both highly tuned versions of the SL500 and SL600 respectively. The SL55 was powered by a mighty supercharged version of the 5.5 litre, V8 which produced 493bhp and achieved 0-62 in 4.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 155mph (governed). In theory, the SL55 could reach 190mph if the car was derestricted but, for many, the acceleration and top speed is impressive enough in its standard form! This stunning SL55 AMG is further enhanced by an F1 Performance Package denoted by the term, 'P30 AMG Performance Pack' in the build specification offering a truly dynamic driving experience; this high performance version of the roadster is closely derived from the official FIA Safety Car for 2002. The enhanced dynamic characteristics relate to an extensive range of revisions to its body - engine cooling system, brakes and suspension. Larger cooling-air intakes and an additional engine-oil cooler ensure that the AMG V8 super-charged engine is maintained at the optimum operating temperatures during aggressive driving. The SL55 AMG with the Performance Package also draws on its Formula 1 counterpart when it comes to the chassis set-up, together with the choice of wheels and tyres. The Mercedes-Benz AMG engineers based the configuration on the set-up used by official FIA Safety Car driver Bernd Mayländer on all the F1 Grand Prix circuits. First registered on 22nd September 2004, this stunning example is presented in metallic silver with full black leather trim. Boasting a comprehensive history with the most recent service undertaken in 2021. This year it has also been treated to new tyres and will come to auction with a fresh MoT test certificate. An opportunity to purchase a supercar which was in excess of £120,000 when new for a fraction of the price. One thing is certain €“ this collector's car is not for the faint hearted.

2004 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Transmission: automaticMileage:112178The first 996 Series cars arrived on our shores in October 1997 but only in hardtop Coupé form. Those who wished to have the wind in their hair had to twiddle their thumbs for another year before the cabriolet versions were launched, as well as Carrera 4 all-wheel drive variants. Both manual and the Tiptronic S automatic gearbox were offered. 2001 saw a revision of the 911 Carrera 2 and 4 ranges, with turbo-look headlamps, revised steering and suspension, some interior upgrades, but most importantly of all, a 3.6-litre engine which developed 320bhp.This attractive example is presented in the subtle colour combination of metallic grey with a grey leather interior. The look is enhanced with a factory fitted aero kit and orange brake calipers. Equipment includes satellite navigation, air conditioning and a factory fitted sunroof. The car is powered by a 3.6 litre engine and is mated to a Tiptronic gearbox. The vendor informs us that this Porsche is a joy to drive and has been totally reliable during his tenure. It comes with a stamped service book, a comprehensive MoT test history, various invoices and all the original manuals. This impressive Porsche represents high end sports car motoring at a fraction of the original cost.

2003 Jaguar XK8 Convertible Transmission: automaticMileage:106742Jaguar was founded as the Swallow Sidecar Company by Sir William Lyons in 1922, originally making motorcycle sidecars before developing passenger cars. The name was changed to Jaguar after World War II to avoid the unfavourable connotations of the SS initials. Sale to BMC happened in 1966, which in 1968 merged with Leyland Motor Corporation and became British Leyland. Jaguar cars today are designed in Jaguar Land Rover's engineering centres at the Whitley plant in Coventry and at their Gaydon site in Warwickshire and are manufactured in Jaguar's Castle Bromwich assembly plant in Birmingham. The Jaguar XK series was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show on 5th March 1996. The first generation of the series, the XK8, replaced the XJS and was available as a Coupé and convertible. The XK8 was the first eight-cylinder vehicle produced since the Daimler 250. The XK8 came with 17 alloy wheels, leather interior, burr walnut trim, and side airbags as standard. This example is presented in Adriatic Blue with grey leather interior and has a dark blue hood. Our vendor bought the car in September 2019 and has cherished the car since with space issues forcing him to sell this great sports convertible. The car comes with a nice ownership record which can be found in the history file, there is also a good history of servicing with 11 stamps in the book and various invoice from Westover Jaguar and Harwoods in Chichester up to 105,610 miles. The car comes with an MoT test certificate valid until June 2023 and its battery was replaced February 2021. This is a good-looking sports convertible with everything working and offering great performance to match.

Lot 149

2001 Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Volante Transmission: automaticMileage:48000In 1999, the more powerful DB7, V12 Vantage was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show. Its 5.9 litre, 48-valve, V12 engine produced 420bhp and 400lb/ft of torque. Aston Martin claimed it had a top speed of 165mph and would accelerate from 0€“60mph in 4.9 seconds. The chassis was extensively redesigned and improved to cope with an almost 33% increase in power. Bigger Brembo brakes, new front wishbones and a now double-wishbone set-up at the back were more than enough to handle a V12 that was soon to appear in the Vanquish. Ian Callum was in charge of styling revisions and the inherent beauty of the original DB7 was made more masculine with revised flanks, new sills, a new rear bumper and a wider front grille. The latter was a necessity, to allow more cooling air to the much more powerful engine. Inside, a red starter button was incorporated into the centre console, close to a new analogue clock that replaced the previous model's digital one. The new sports seats were more comfortable, gave better support when driving as hard as the latest car was capable and also allowed greater interior space.Originally registered on 5th November 2001, this DB7 Vantage is finished in Stronsay Silver with contrasting Pacific Blue and pale grey hide interior with navy blue Wilton carpet throughout. This is a well maintained example with 13 stamps in the service book. The car presents exceedingly well and has clearly been very well cared for throughout its 21 years on British roads. We are advised the car drives with no known faults. This a great specification vehicle with Touchtronic transmission, electric Mohair hood, electric heated seats and an a fully adjustable steering column. Supplied with a V5 registration document, the original service books and a current MoT test certificate valid until 23rd May 2023.This delightful example has the desirable combination of V12 power and soundtrack coupled with sumptuous luxury and effortless acceleration.

Lot 153

1964 Mercedes-Benz 230 SL Transmission: manualMileage:74738Launched at the Geneva Motor Show in March of 1963, the 230 SL was a very different car to its predecessors. Intended as the replacement for the 190 SL, the 230 SL abandoned the four-cylinder engine in favour of a 2.3 litre fuel-injected, six-cylinder engine, producing 150bhp. The new engine was derived from that of the great 220 SE. The Paul Bracq penned body was an all-new, stylish design which became an instant classic. Beneath the skin, the running gear was conventional Mercedes-Benz, featuring independent suspension, disc brakes on the front and rear drums. Top speed was in excess of 120mph. Soon after the 230 SL was announced, Eugen Böhringer drove one to victory in the Sofia-Liège Rally. This attractive 1964 Mercedes-Benz 230 SL Roadster has been in the vendors tenure for over 12 years during which time it has spent most of its time in storage. This right hand drive manual example presents well in blue with a cream coloured interior and features the desirable factory hardtop. Offered to auction with a V5 registration document and a file containing various bills and receipts, this Mercedes Pagoda is keenly priced. Any prospective purchaser should note that this car will require attention to the fuel system before it can be driven. These SL models were amongst the most-loved sports-tourers of their day and continue to be highly sought after by collectors and have recently seen a marked increase in values.

1955 Triumph TR3 Transmission: manualMileage:1432The Triumph TR3 was built between 1955 and 1962 and was usually supplied as an open two-seater, although an occasional rear seat and bolt-on steel hardtop were available as extras. It was powered by a 1991cc engine which initially produced 95bhp increasing to 100bhp at 5000rpm. The four-speed manual transmission could be supplemented by an overdrive unit on the top three ratios electrically operated and controlled by a switch on the dash. In 1956, the front brakes changed from drum to disc becoming the first British series production car to do so. Because of these disc brakes, the TR3 became known for its superior braking ability, making it an autocross favourite. This beautiful TR3 is presented in stunning Salvador Blue coachwork (its original colour) with contrasting black trim which looks new. This original home market TR3 was built on 17th November 1955 as dated by the supplied Heritage Certificate and having been an early car, the TR registry believe it may have been a development example. The present owner purchased the car 30 years ago with the intention of fully restoring it, at the time finished in red, he decided to change the colour back to the original and continued upon a full restoration over an eight-year period, all of which is documented in the history file. The process was described as a no expense spared nut and bolt rebuild and the quality is still evident today with only 1,500 miles covered since that restoration. This year, a full recommissioning has taken place which is ideal for any new owner. Offered with the optional overdrive, the cost of the extensive restoration completed in the early 2000's was in excess of £85,000 which in today's money is over three times the auction estimate. Coming to the market having been dry stored and maintained to a high standard, the car is offered with a comprehensive history file including photographic evidence of the restoration and all relevant documentation. This is a wonderful sports car and viewing is strongly recommended.

1980 Mercedes-Benz 350 SL Transmission: automaticMileage:74593Introduced early in 1971, this impressive two-seater sports car replaced the 280 SL. The R107 body shape went on to become one of the longest running styles from Mercedes-Benz, remaining in production until 1989 with some 13 variants during that time. Even by today's standards for sports cars the 350 SL's spacious cockpit looks excellent with great ergonomics.Originally registered on 1st January 1981, this Mercedes-Benz has undergone a total restoration and presents in superb condition. The car was completely stripped and the bodywork repaired or re-fabricated as necessary; the smoke silver paint finish is to a very good standard. The tan interior was re-trimmed in high quality leather and new burgundy carpets fitted. Mechanically, these cars are generally very good and the 3499cc V8 engine is quiet and silky smooth in operation. The under-bonnet area is commensurate with a car that has had significant time and investment. We are advised by the vendor this 350 SL drives with no known faults and is supplied with a V5C registration document. With values of these 107's on the rise, this represents an exciting opportunity.*Library Images

1961 MG A Competition Roadster Transmission: manualMileage:7850When the MGA arrived in 1955, it must have come as quite a shock to MG aficionados who had become accustomed to the pre-war look of the company's sports cars. It was a complete departure in styling and its beautiful streamlined body was right up to the minute in terms of appearance. It was powered by a new engine; MG had decided that the old XPAG unit had had its day and so introduced a much more modern B Series engine that had made its debut in the recently announced Magnette saloon. The 'A' was officially launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1955. Only 5,869 cars were sold on the home market, giving the MGA the highest export percentage of any British car and was replaced by the MGB in May 1962.This race prepared MGA Competition Roadster was first registered in June 1961 to its first owner, Mr. H. J. Royal of W1 and still wears its original registration. Built by the late Ron Cody specifically to race and win in a number of race series, he enjoyed the car over a period of approximately 20 years. During this time the car saw many victories in the Equipe GTS race series and this success led to Ron being asked to build, restore and race-prepare cars for other competitors to the same high standard. Since the car last competed it has undergone a significant restoration, receiving a new livery of Rosso Corsa with Old English White striping. Most of the rebuild was carried out in 2015 with further works in 2020. The car has had little use since then, but is ready to go.Powered by a 1950cc B-Series engine, it produces a very respectable 178bhp. This high specification engine has notable features including; an Arrow steel billet crankshaft, Carrillo con-rods, Peter Burgess cylinder head, Piper camshaft and a Weber 48DCO/SP carburettor. Other noteworthy features of this highly developed car include an MGB close-ratio gearbox, Quaife limited-slip differential, alloy front wings, a new radiator with thermostatic fan and new electrical switches, new lighting wiring and up-rated suspension incorporating Koni telescopic dampers. Supplied with a UK V5C registration document, BMI Heritage Certificate and original buff logbook, this beautifully presented MGA is ready to race and win, being eligible for a number of historic race series.Interested parties should note that the reserve on this vehicle has been reduced.

1973 MG B GT V8 Transmission: manualMileage:11409The MGB was first introduced in May 1962 as a direct replacement for the MGA. Performance was brisk with power supplied by a 1798cc four-cylinder iron block engine set within a monocoque lightweight bodyshell with crumple zones incorporated. October 1965 saw the introduction of the GT which was based on the already popular roadster. Designed by Pinninfarina, the new GT sported a hatchback giving useful access to the rear luggage space and a rear bench seat that enabled the car to be called a 2+2. Although acceleration was slightly slower than the roadster, top speed was better by 5mph due to the increased aerodynamic efficiency. Ken Costello saw the possibility of fitting the larger aluminium 3528cc Rover P5B engine into the MG B GT having been sure that the handling and braking could be made to match the much improved performance; not that it needed significant changes as the V8 weighed in at around 40 pounds lighter than the four-cylinder iron blocked engine it replaced. Space was not a problem as the car had originally been designed for fitment of a V4 that was never produced. It was not until two years after the first Costello car that MG decided to follow suit. It was 1973 and the fuel crisis loomed; with British Leyland not wanting competition for the V8 engined Triumph Stag, prices of the MGB GT V8 were set high. Production ceased in 1976 with 2,591 units having been produced. Presented in black coachwork with black trim this genuine factory built MGB GT V8 has been in the current ownership since 2016 and has spent the last six years in the dry climate of the south of France with its British owner. Recently driven back from its extended holiday this example has returned to UK plates and presents well. Originally supplied with optional overdrive by Wadhams Ltd in Wiltshire in September 1973, repainted in black in 1999 as part of a full body restoration. Accompanying the car is a large history file, much of which was accumulated by Mr Turnbull who owned the car between 1993 and 2016. Included are details of a full engine rebuild with a blueprinted Rovercraft engine by Brown and Gammon Ltd (heritage specialists), countless MoT certificates and invoices, a Heritage certificate, V8 handbooks and a catalogue of photos of the car through previous ownership. V8 prices have been on the rise and it's hard not to see why; big engine with a little British sports car, like Sunbeam Tigers these cars are a riot to drive and incredible value.Interested parties should note that this vehicle is not currently sold with a V5 registration document. However, one has been applied for by the vendor with the DVLA and should arrive in due course.

Lot 159

1990 Jaguar XJS Convertible Transmission: automaticMileage:26111In 1975, the Jaguar E-Type finally gave way to an all new and more efficient Jaguar, the Jaguar XJS. This new luxury grand tourer, although never quite having the same sporting image as the E-Type, was actually more aerodynamic with the final example leaving the production line on 4th April 1996; at that stage 115,413 units had been manufactured during a 21 year production life. Power came from the Jaguar V12 engine with a choice of a manual or automatic transmission although the manual gearbox was soon dropped. V12 engine cars were unusual at the time with notable exceptions coming from Italian luxury sports car makers Lamborghini and Ferrari. The specifications of the XJS compared well with both Italian cars; it was able to accelerate to 60mph in 7.6 seconds and had a top speed of 143mph.Presented in Signal Red coachwork over a contrasting tan leather interior, this XJS has had just one owner from new and has covered a mere 26,000 miles. During this time, it has been regularly maintained regardless of cost. Offered in excellent condition throughout, the paintwork is very good as is the interior which you would expect of a car that has covered such little mileage. The history file that accompanies the car confirms its one owner from new status and also includes many service records and stamps as well as invoices for general maintenance throughout its life, an MoT test certificate valid until July 2023 and its current UK V5C registration document. A stunning example inside and out, this XJS is a superb opportunity to acquire such a car.Interested parties should note that contrary to the catalogue description this Jaguar is a two owner from new example. Buyers should also note that the current V5 registration document is in the name of the importers having registered the vehicle for the current owner.

Lot 160

1972 Jaguar E-Type Series III 2+2 Fixedhead Coupé Transmission: manualMileage:48251By the mid-1960s, the Jaguar E-Type was appealing to the man with a young family, but they were restricted by the size of the current Jaguar E-Type Coupé and its open topped sibling. This prompted Jaguar to offer a third option in the form of a 2+2 Coupé. By adding nine inches to the wheelbase and two inches in height, it was then possible to fit a rear seat capable of seating two adults in tolerable comfort. Of course, the rear seat was more suited to children or, as €˜The Motor' put it at the time, the car could extend Dad's youth for another seven years. Roger Bell in Motor was quoted as saying at the time that €˜all we expected to try was a new engine but what in fact we drove was a new car. Not a yowling, aggressive Ferrari-like machine with which, perhaps, most people associate a V12 engine but a very smooth, quiet and refined grand touring sports car.'Originally registered on 14th June 1972 this delightful E-Type has been owned by the vendor for the last seven years. He and his wife purchased the car with a view to touring Europe in the car, which they have done successfully, describing their many journeys as very exceedingly enjoyable. Soon after purchasing and knowing the intended use for the Jaguar, the car had extensive work carried out on the mechanics by a marque specialist in Surrey. Electronic ignition was fitted along with a new electronic fuel pump, new brake servo and brake master cylinder. The rear suspension was completely overhauled and the gearbox was rebuilt, at the same time a new clutch was fitted. Perhaps one of the most significant upgrades was changing the differential to a 2.88/1 ratio thus enabling more comfortable cruising at speed. Over £30,000 has been spent on the car during his tenure-ship resulting in a very nice, exceedingly useable Series III E-Type. The Azure Blue coachwork is in good order as is the contrasting dark blue leather interior. This genuine UK registered right hand drive example is supplied with a good history folder containing lots of invoices and a Jaguar Heritage Certificate. The Series III derivative of the E-Type is becoming ever more popular due to the sheer drivability it offers and this is one of the best driver's examples available on the market.

Lot 166

1990 Aston Martin Virage Transmission: automaticMileage:45000The Virage was Aston Martin's replacement for the decades old V8 models and was introduced at the Birmingham Motor Show in 1988. This V8 powered car was intended as the company's top model with their six-cylinder, 1994 DB7 slotted below it but this V8 model (by then in Vantage form) remained the exclusive, expensive and hand built king of Astons. The Virage was a large, heavy car despite its all aluminium body but the 32 valve, 5.3 litre V8 engines elevated its performance to sportscar levels. €˜Acceleration just never seems to run out', claimed Sports Car International on a first test. They also praised the €˜eager and quicker revving' nature of the engine with its Callaway-designed heads and Weber Marelli fuel injection. €˜Nothing sounds quite like an Aston V8', they concluded. The accompanying history file for this handsome Aston shows not only 10 stamps in its service history book, but also a large number of invoices for work carried out over the years by the well renowned Aston Martin specialist Oselli Ltd. The car presents very well and whilst it has recently come out of long-term storage, it has benefitted from a recommissioning service by Oselli at a cost of £6,000. The car runs well, but it is recommended by the vendor that a new set of tyres be fitted, given the amount of time spent in storage. Commonly with Virage's put into storage, the odometer can fail and this is the case with the car offered here. However, the accompanying paperwork shows that the car has covered no more than about 45,000 miles in its 32 year lifetime. Even allowing for the cost of a new set of tyres, this Virage offers incredible value for money and is a rare opportunity to acquire an honest example with great service history.Supplied with a UK V5 registration document, service book with 10 stamps in it, owner's handbook, file of receipts, first aid kit, (never used), full original toolkit, spare space saver wheel and a MoT test certificate valid until March 2023. With a new set of tyres fitted, this brute will be ready to storm the British roads once again.Interested parties should note that contrary to the catalogue description, the toolkit supplied with this car is missing a couple of items.

1964 Aston Martin DB5 Transmission: manualMileage:10920To the casual observer, the 1963 DB5 is virtually indistinguishable from a late model DB4 Vantage; the DB5 is essentially a four-litre version of the DB4. Initially fitted with the four-speed David Brown gearbox, the vast majority of cars received the superior five-speed gearbox either as an option or later as standard fitting. So why is the DB5 so often thought of as the quintessential Aston Martin? Without doubt this is due to a Silver Birch example featuring in the 1964 James Bond film, Goldfinger, complete with special modifications and hidden weaponry. With 007 behind the wheel of the sensational sports GT, demand outstripped supply - the factory just couldn't capitalise fast enough on the marketing success of the DB5. Even today, DB5's are highly regarded and change hands for sums significantly greater than almost anything else in the range. Its production, however, was fairly short-lived, ending in September 1965 after 1,021 had been manufactured.Chassis number '1529/R' was sold new to Carter-Parratt Ltd of Sutton, Surrey and was originally finished in Platinum with red Connolly leather interior. Only one additional owner is listed on the accompanying copy build sheet: Anthony Nathaniel Crossley of Reading Carpet Co Ltd, though the change is undated. The build sheet lists various works carried out at Newport Pagnell up to January 1967 (at 21,691 miles). The previous owner bought the car circa 1988 from his father-in-law, Eric Bradley, who had purchased it from Ralph Rothermere around 1968. Fulham Workshops of Parsons Green (later Clapham Common) serviced the Aston for many years until they retired. In 2006 Aston Martin specialist Tim Bissett, was commissioned for an rebuild and upgrade, these works involved enlarging the engine to 4.2 litres capacity. Photographed in the history file is confirmation the car was used competitively for the 2001 Classic Marathon rally wearing its number 65 and registration 2189 RD. Our highly knowledgeable and enthusiastic vendor purchased this car at a Bonhams auction in December 2017 before undertaking a full nut and bolt restoration. The two-year restoration is detailed in a hardback photo book supplied with the car showing the entire process before being finished and used for his daughter's wedding. Part of the restoration included various upgrades to be implemented and during the restoration our vendor installed a high-capacity aluminium radiator with electric fan, power steering, larger 6x15 spoke wire wheels and 205/70 Blockley tyres and Billet crankshaft with fast road cams. Nice touches to the cars everyday usability includes central locking, an upgraded light system and a retro style modern DAB radio. The history file includes invoices from the restoration, original order details, earlier servicing schedule and engine rebuild details from Tim Bissett, photographs of the car racing, a restoration photobook and details of a full €˜tune up' in 2020. This example has been well cared for by our vendor who has owned no less than three DB5's. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate together with a good history folder the DB5 is still, quite rightly, considered one of the most stunning designs ever penned. This quintessentially British sportscar is a highly useable example.* Interested parties should note that the private registration plate shown is to be retained by the vendor and a new, age-related registration issued instead.

2004 Mercedes-Benz 500 SL Transmission: automaticMileage:42940The Mercedes-Benz R129 models were produced from 1989 through to 2001 and were sold under the SL Class model names. The R129 replaced the R107 SL Class in 1989 and was subsequently replaced by the R230 in 2001. The R129 was based on the shortened floorpan of the Mercedes-Benz W124 saloon and featured many innovative details for the time. The R129 came to public attention in 1991 when Diana, Princess of Wales, sold her Jaguar XJS to lease a J-registration, metallic-red 500 SL, becoming the first member of the royal family to use a foreign car. This controversy sparked a media storm as it was questioned whether a member of British royalty should drive foreign cars. The fifth generation of the legendary SL series of two-door convertible sports cars made by Mercedes-Benz was known as the R230. It featured a fully retractable hardtop that was marketed as the Vario Roof; a first for the SL Class although it had been available on the smaller SLK model since 1997.Originally registered on 12th March 2004 this Mercedes-Benz is finished in the delightful colour combination of blue metallic with contrasting beige leather interior. These very well-appointed cars come with ABS, electric seats, heated seats, air conditioning and cruise control as standard. The silky smooth V8 engine offers effortless power and reliability, this really is the ultimate touring vehicle. The roof comes down at the touch of a button allowing for open top motoring when the weather permits. A history folder accompanies this Mercedes-Benz along with a V5 registration document. We are advised she will be presented for a fresh MoT prior to auction. Whether travelling to the local golf club or to the South of France this 500 SL is a fabulous car to drive.

1950 Jaguar XK120 Roadster Ex-Duncan Hamilton Transmission: manualMileage:3675The Jaguar XK120 was manufactured between 1948 and 1954 and was their first sportscar since the SS100 which ceased production in 1940. It was launched in roadster form at the 1948 London Motor Show as a show car for the new Jaguar XK engine. It caused a sensation thus persuading Jaguar founder and design boss, William Lyons, to put the car into production. The '120' in its name referred to its top speed which made the XK120 the world's fastest standard production car at the time of its launch. It was available in two open versions; first as the roadster, then also as a drophead Coupé from 1953 and also as a closed, or 'fixedhead' Coupé, from 1951. With alloy cylinder heads and twin side-draft SU carburettors, the double overhead-cam 3.4 litre straight-six XK engine was comparatively advanced for a mass-produced unit of the time. With a standard compression ratio of 8:1, it developed 160bhp.This is no ordinary Jaguar XK120. Chassis number 660332 was raced in period by Duncan Hamilton.Manufactured on 22nd November 1950 and delivered via Henlys of London to its first owner, a Mr. Philip Fotheringham-Parker a little over two weeks later bearing the registration number LXF 731.Fotheringham-Parker was an amateur racing driver of the immediate pre and post-war years combining sufficient levels of wealth, talent and enthusiasm to enjoy a respectable level of success in both national and international events. His friend Duncan Hamilton, an ex-Lysander pilot was building his reputation as a very competitive racing driver. XK120's were proving to be successful after their competition debut at Silverstone in 1949. Hence the reason why Fotheringham-Parker purchased one. When he took delivery of LXF 731 in late 1950 he lent it to Hamilton who proceeded to race it at national and international events throughout 1951 and so began a very fruitful relationship between the Jaguar marque and Duncan Hamilton, gaining victories with the Works team at Le Mans in 1953 and Rheims in 1956. The first recorded event for LXF 731 was the one-hour production car race at the Daily Express Silverstone Trophy Meeting held on 5th May 1951. With Hamilton at the wheel, LXF 731 came home in third place behind Stirling Moss and Charles Dodson. The next outing at the Portuguese Grand Prix on 17th June was less successful with Hamilton retiring, he soon made amends by securing two victories in the XK120 at Boreham in the Williams Lyons Trophy race and the Unlimited Race on 11th August 1951.In later years the car found its way to Northern Ireland where it was purchased by David Bazire. The car was fully restored in 2011 to its early race specification and has since been maintained regardless of cost as is evident from its current immaculate presentation. The car was sold by JD Classics in 2014 for £1,250,000 and we understand that during the last few years, LXF 731 has successfully completed the Mille Miglia on two occasions and the Le Mans Legends Support Race. A comprehensive history file accompanies the Jaguar, including correspondence between Bazire and Hamilton. This is a hugely important historical car, both from Jaguar Cars point of view and from the immensely charismatic and successful works driver Duncan Hamilton.Period Race History19515th MayTrack: Silverstone, Daily Express Trophy MeetingRace: 1 hour Production Car raceDriver: Duncan Hamilton. 2005 Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR Coupé Transmission: automaticMileage:3357The SLR McLaren, introduced in November 2003, was Mercedes-Benz's foray into the world of the supercar, alongside such cars as the Porsche Carrera GT and the Ferrari Enzo. It was developed in collaboration with the McLaren Technology Centre which, at the time, was partially owned by Mercedes-Benz. While Ferrari and Porsche pursued creating the best all-out supercars that the world had ever seen, Mercedes-Benz and McLaren attempted to create a car that coupled the best aspects of supercars with that of grand tourers. Engineers at Mercedes-Benz and McLaren took care to place the V8 as far back as possible in the chassis in order to improve the car's handling, giving the SLR near-perfect weight distribution. The SLR's engine produces 617bhp at 6,500rpm, thanks to a Lysholm-type twin-screw supercharger. A dash from 0-60mph took 3.8 seconds and the car leads to a quarter mile in just over 11 seconds with a top speed of 206mph. Its AMG Speedshift R transmission provides three manual modes to suit the owner's style of driving. Other remarkable technical features include the Sensotronic 'brake by wire' system, carbon-ceramic disc brakes and an automatic airbrake which can bring the SLR to a screeching halt from 120mph to a dead stop in less than 240 feet. This Mercedes-Benz SLR was manufactured in 2005 and presented in silver, typically synonymous with the Silver Arrows. This low mileage McLaren is in a condition commensurate with such few miles on the clock. The cockpit area of a SLR is a thing of beauty and to drive such a car is a memorable experience. The ultra-comfortable sports seats and luxurious interior are finished in black leather complementing the striking silver exterior. The SLR Coupé is a very versatile vehicle, comfortable to drive at 30mph, yet simply stunning to drive at high speed. The fabulous engine fires up at the press of a button on the gear lever which is reminiscent of a €˜jet fighter' and drives with no known faults. Built in the UK and then shipped to the U.A.E, this SLR was then imported back to the UK in 2012 to our private owner. With a recent MoT test certificate and a UK V5C registration document, this is truly a collectable example with circa 2,085 miles from new. Whether you are driving to your local restaurant or to the South of France, there can be few more exciting ways to travel than a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren.Successfully sold at our Bicester sale this lot is being offered again at Mercedes Benz World due to difficulties completing the purchase. No change of ownership has taken place and the lot is offered in identical terms to September when it sold for £277,340. 1985 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Restoration Transmission: automaticMileage:The Mercedes-Benz SL (Sport Leicht) has been in production since 1954 with perhaps the most influential model being the W113 Pagoda of 1963. This second generation evolved from the 230SL to 250SL, finally becoming the 280SL. The W113 was replaced by the W107 in 1971 and as the engines became larger, the bodywork and weight of the cars also increased, as so often happens in mid-life! The SL improved through the years with technical innovation but still managed to keep its fundamental character and identity of an up-market, high quality sports car. Its reputation went from strength to strength, and it was rare to see an episode of Dallas or Dynasty in the 1980's without an SL making a star appearance. The genius soft-top mechanism which folds down out of sight under a panel ahead of the boot lid gave the car a beautifully sleek, uncluttered appearance. Of all the engine offerings the 280 remains the most sought after with the smaller 2.8 litre engine offering plenty of power but with the advantage of less weight and this improved handling. This original right hand drive automatic 280 R107 SL was registered 24th May 1985, with just three owners from new and the previous owner having owned it for 17 years in total. In March this year the car was completely stripped to bare metal and the vendor begun what was intended to be a full body restoration. The shell which is in €˜as new' order, is finished in a metallic blue with a dark blue soft top and sits on Mexican Hat alloy wheels and comes with the original smoky grey interior. The engine running gear is still in the vehicle and fully running. There are receipts from the SL Shop for new ignition leads and plugs, injectors and associated parts, fuel pump relay. We are informed all parts are available as per the photos and is believed that every part removed is supplied with the car and can be collected locally post auction. Being offered to the market due to a change in the vendor's circumstances, part finished to a very good standard, this example would represent an ideal winter project to complete what has become a very popular classic roadster with prices having risen significantly for the R107 over the past 18 months.

1971 Datsun 240Z Transmission: manualMileage:3401It soon became apparent during its creation, that the Datsun 240Z represented all the requirements of sports-minded drivers by fulfilling their desires for superb styling, power and safety whilst providing them with the most thrilling and enjoyable ride available in any car at that time. Reporting 151bhp and 146lb/ft of torque at just 4,400rpm, Car & Driver said; €˜A brilliantly conceived car with twice as much thought having gone into it when compared to the big Healey, MGC, Lotus Elan, Porsches and Corvettes'. Offering a 125mph top-speed and the 0-60mph dash in a shade under eight seconds, the well-spaced five-speed gear ratios made the most of the engine's torque whilst retaining the ability to achieve in excess of 30mpg, this was to put the €˜Z' ahead of many of its contemporaries and on a par with Porsche 911's of the time. Very impressive, by anyone's standards. Although Datsun didn't invent the overhead-cam engine, disc brakes or all-round independent suspension, the 240Z incorporated all of these systems into a brilliantly conceived car. It was no surprise therefore, that for many years the Datsun 240Z was heralded as the most successful sportscar of all time and was very successful in rallying also. This Datsun was imported into the UK and presents in very good condition. The striking yellow coachwork is in good order as is the black interior. On 25th March 1994 the engine was upgraded to a 280Z engine which is mated to a five-speed gearbox, this was carried out in Idaho in the U.S. at a cost of $1,300. These uncomplicated cars of the period are exceptionally reliable yet offer brisk performance. Supplied with a V5 registration document, this MoT exempt vehicle comes with a host of invoices going back to the 1970's. Japanese sports cars from this era are becoming highly sought after and this Datsun 240Z would grace any collection.

2013 Aston Martin Rapide S Transmission: automaticMileage:13000The Rapide is a four-door, four-seater, high-performance sports saloon, which Aston Martin introduced in early 2010. It was first presented as a concept car at the North American International Auto Show in 2006 and the production version was shown at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. The Rapide name is a reference to the Lagonda Rapide, a four-door, four-seater saloon produced by Lagonda, now a part of Aston Martin. The new Rapide is the company's first four-door fastback saloon since the Lagonda which was discontinued in 1990. It is based on the DB9 and underpinned by the Aston Martin VH platform. The first cars rolled off the production line in May 2010, initially built at a dedicated plant at the Magna Steyr facility in Graz, Austria. The Rapide S succeeded the standard Rapide in 2013; the AM11 V12 engine was upgraded and had a power output of 550bhp with 457 lb/ft torque. Performance improvements include a top speed of 190mph and acceleration from 0-62mph reduced to 4.9 seconds. This stunning Rapide S was originally delivered new to Australia in 2013 only to be repatriated into the UK in 2016. It is presented in diamond black paintwork with the four-seat interior layout wrapped in sumptuous black leather with contrasting red stitching. Bi-xenon headlamps, LED taillamps, power front seats with memory, sat nav, cooling and heating systems, Bluetooth and an amazing top of the range Bang & Olufsen 16-speaker sound system with two tweeters that rise from the dashboard on activation of the system, all complement these luxurious yet sporty saloons. In 2017 this example was subject to a category N Insurance Loss - due to water entering the very low engine air intakes, causing an engine fail (very common, so avoid deep puddles!).  The engine was replaced with a lower mileage unit with just 8,000 miles lower than the already low odometer reading. Since he purchased the car, our vendor has used this example throughout the year and enjoyed it immensely but kept the mileage at a collectable low 13,000 from new. Offered with an MoT test certificate valid until July 2023 and serviced less than 500 miles ago. Ready to go and enrol in the V12, four-seater gentleman's club! The Rapide is one of the most responsive and aesthetically pleasing saloons of the 21st Century and it's coupled with one of the best-sounding 6.0 litre V12 engines money can buy.

1996 Nissan Skyline R33 GTS25T Type ML Transmission: manualMileage:26010The R33 incarnation of the GT-R is still a pure sports car experience, but now aided by some of the most revolutionary handling technology to influence modern performance driving. The new R33 Skyline GT-R was launched in January 1995 with a base GT-R and the V-Spec model which offered a sportier suspension set-up resulting in lower ground clearance and also featured the newer ATTESA E-TS Pro all-wheel drive system, which included an Active Limited-Slip Differential. At the heart of the V-Spec was the ATTESA-ETS Pro Electronic Torque Split System which, at the time, made it arguably the most technologically advanced production car in the world. The system was conceived in the 1990s for the JTCC to enable some 600bhp to be fed through the wheels and on to the racetrack efficiently. The V-Spec also featured an active LSD on the rear axle which further aided traction by calculating the optimum torque-split between the left and right rear wheels, variable from fully locked to totally free. Working along with ATTESA-ETS Pro, is the SUPER HICAS rear-wheel steering. This uses a series of sensors to monitor vehicle motion, rate of turn and the driver's action on the steering wheel.Complex software then compares this information to the computer predictions of the car's ideal turning characteristics, adjusting the angle of the rear wheels to reflect the driver's intentions. The engine in the R33 was nearly identical to the previous R32 using the same turbochargers and the same specification for the manual gearbox, although the synchros were made to be stronger. The increased body rigidity and improved handling potential necessitated several specially designed cross members being incorporated into the monocoque and extra torsion bars were added to the multi-link suspension to further enhance stability. Working closely with Bridgestone technicians to perfect the Potenza tyres, Nissan put the prototype R33 GT-R through its paces in all weathers at the notorious Nürburgring, earning them a daring reputation amongst other manufacturers. To equalise front/rear weight distribution, the bonnet and front wings were made of aluminium instead of steel and the battery was fitted at the base of the car's boot, lowering the centre of gravity and further improving handling. The braking system was designed by Italy's famous Brembo Spa, suppliers to many of the world's Formula 1 teams at this time. Four-piston calipers were fitted on the front with two-piston calipers on the rear to bite into the discs with a diamond shaped ventilation bores which increased the surface area to aid heat dissipation. There was a limited run of R33 GTS25TML specification, which is a Type M with, twin airbags, Active LSD and this superb example is indeed one of those which is presented in silver and was imported from Japan in 1999 and has had only one registered owner from then until today. The diff is a Skyline GTR V spec diff which is an electronically controlled LSD instead of a normal R33 diff. The car has been stored in a dry air-conditioned unit and has been extremely well looked after in this time. The car has grey cloth interior, air-conditioning, electric windows, toolkit and space saving spare wheel. This car is particularly special in that its turbo charged engine produces circa 900bhp and has only covered a mere 26,000 miles from new. The speedometer was re-calibrated to UK specification in 1998. With electrifying performance, not for the faint hearted and in such fabulous condition, this surely must be the one to have and would be interesting to test at Santa Pod or similar against more celebrated European sports cars, the result would be extremely interesting!

1972 Jensen Interceptor SP Mk. III Transmission: automaticMileage:2000Alan and his brother Richard Jensen first became involved with car design and construction in 1925 when their efforts to improve on the styling and performance of an Austin Seven Chummy attracted much favourable attention. A few Jensen-bodied Fords were produced in the mid-1930s before a more serious manufacturing effort commenced in 1938. After World War II, Jensen kept itself afloat by producing bodies for other manufacturers, most notably Austin Healey, while producing its own stylish GTs in limited numbers. It was not until the Interceptor's arrival in 1967 that cars began to leave the West Bromwich factory in more substantial numbers. With the Interceptor's introduction, Jensen switched from glass fibre to steel for its car bodies, though underneath the preceding C-V8's chassis, running gear and 6,276 cc Chrysler engine remained substantially unchanged. With around 280 bhp on tap, performance was more than adequate, the motor recording a top speed of 140 mph with 100 mph arriving from a standstill in 19 seconds. Four-wheel servo-assisted Dunlop discs looked after the braking while the ride quality could be varied by the Armstrong Selectaride dampers' dashboard control. Leather upholstery, reclining front seats, and walnut veneer trim were all standard features of this Vignale-styled Anglo-American GT, while automatic transmission was the choice of almost all buyers. The Series II incorporated revised front suspension, Girling brakes and a redesigned interior, while the Series III, introduced in October 1971, came with a 7.2-litre engine, better seats, central locking, and GKN alloy wheels. The SP (six-pack) was the rare one €“ with only 232 being built. Originally registered on the 9th November 1972 this Mk. III Interceptor is presented in white with black diamond stitched leather trim. This example has been subject to a full restoration with bills totalling over £60,000 after an engine fire in 2012, the damage was such that the insurers decided not to repair and thus this is categorised as a Category D. The car now presents extremely well, the mighty 7.2 litre engine is fabulous, and the original SP (six pack) has been removed and replaced with a more user-friendly single twin choked carburettor. A wonderful brute of a British sports car in which the vendor has spent extensively with fabulous results, sensibly estimated, viewing is highly recommended.

Lot 228

1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Sport Coupé Transmission: manualMileage:101980Originally supplied by Waldron Motors Ltd in Kent, it passed through a number of owners before arriving with Porsche-enthusiast, Mr. John Keeling of Colwyn Bay in 2004 and registering 81,699 miles on the clock. He owned the car for 17 years and was extremely fastidious with maintenance before selling it on in 2021. This classic Guards Red example with contrasting black leather sports seats, black dashboard and steering wheel was originally specified with 16€ Fuchs alloy wheels, a limited slip differential, power steering, central locking and the highly desirable, five-speed, G50 gearbox. Internally, it also benefits from an electrically operated sunroof, a rear window wiper, electric mirrors and electric windows.2015 saw a full photographic brake system refurbishment with the anti-roll bar refurbished, drive shafts all restored or replaced at 99,639 miles. With an MoT test certificate valid until July 2023 and no oil leaks noted anywhere at all, according to the Porsche engineer, it forms part of the extremely comprehensive history file for this car including a fully stamped service book, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, invoices and all works completed and an original owner's pack. This represents a pristine and unmolested example with unmarked coachwork and an interior commensurate with careful ownership and very light use, one of the cleanest examples we have seen for many years and something of a rarity in this condition.

1964 Austin Healey 3000 BJ7 Transmission: manualMileage:79714We are pleased to offer this delightful Austin Healey 3000 BJ7, built to represent the Works Healey of 1964. Over an 18 year period EBW 195B underwent extensive restoration works which still exudes with quality today. In fact, rarely seen with such a sports car, that it displays a character and a patina often missed with the overly glitzy restorations on the market so frequently. Retaining the left hand drive format it started with, the British Motoring Heritage Trust Certificate states that this big Healey was manufactured between 27th and 28th June 1963 and was dispatched to the USA on 22nd July of that year. The certificate also confirms that the car was dispatched with wire wheels, overdrive, a heater, an adjustable steering column, tonneau cover, whitewall tyres and a laminated windscreen. The Guards Red coachwork is in excellent order throughout with the standard continuing on the undersides. Of note are the panel gaps, which are an important detail, usually difficult to obtain with restorations of motor cars such as this. The front wings have the addition of the Works style vents and what really sets this Healey off, is the addition of a Works style hardtop with vent. It may be of interest to note that we are not sure whether this is a genuine Works hardtop, but it doesn't have the look of a new reproduction item however. On opening the bonnet, you will see the standard of workmanship has been maintained. The engine is supplied with triple 1¾ SU carburettors and the electrics supplied by an alternator conversion. Exhaust gases are extracted via the stainless-steel side exiting exhaust system. In addition, the brakes have been uprated and drive is via an overdrive gearbox and limited slip differential. In addition to the wire wheels, there is a set of knock-on Minilight style alloy wheels shod with excellent Dunlop SP Sport tyres. The interior continues on the inside with the excellent red piped black Connolly hide seats and matching Wilton carpets. A set of standard bumpers, in excellent condition, are also included should you wish to return this to a more traditional road looking car. The history file is as you would expect, comprehensive with detailed invoices and photos of the restoration combined with more recent works with Healy specialists JME; this includes a full shakedown and tune in April 2021 before a brake overhaul in June 2021 with electronic ignition added. We are informed the car is now a peach to drive and very fast! So, there you have it, a fabulous Austin Healey that is a pleasure to drive, offered from a private collection that looks and feels period and has all the right parts that make it the car it is today. Please inspect this Austin Healey and then ask yourself, what would this Austin Healey cost to build today? With that in mind, we're sure you will agree that it is offered with a very reasonable estimate.

1964 Mercedes-Benz 230 SL Pagoda Transmission: manualMileage:33000The Mercedes-Benz W113 roadsters, designed by Paul Bracq, were produced from 1963 through to 1971 and were known as the 'Pagoda roof' SL. All models boast an inline six-cylinder engine with multi-port fuel injection. Rear wheel drive configuration was complemented by independent rear suspension, a feature that greatly improved road handling. The 230 SL made a remarkable debut at the prestigious Geneva Motor Show in March 1963 where the famous German engineer Fritz Nallinger introduced it as follows It was our aim to create a very safe and fast sports car with high performance which, despite its sports characteristics, provides a very high degree of travelling comfort. This Mercedes-Benz 230SL Pagoda was originally registered in 1964 in the US and was imported to the UK from Florida in 2008. Owned by our vendor since 2012 and presented in burgundy paintwork which matches the supplied colour from new and has lovely €˜as new carpeting' complimented by its black trim. Restored circa four years ago and presenting in similar condition today, this example boasts the desirable manual gearbox and is offered with over £40,000 in receipts. It benefits from new brake and suspension components, new complete exhaust and new tyres (all done less than 500 miles ago). Since passing its MoT in March this year, the vendor has been driving and enjoying whilst having any final work completed. Within the history file, you will find the latest receipts reflecting in April of this year a sum of £900 has been spent on having the servo overhauled, an engine fuel and air ratio adjustment for £751.43 in July and finally in September this year, the latest receipt for £3405.16 which shows the engine timing chain and adjuster were replaced. The engine timing and vacuum advance have been set up and the alternator overhauled. This work was carried out by renowned classic Mercedes specialists Colin Ferns ltd, showing a good level of care for what has been a joy for our client to drive over the summer months. Supplied with both soft and hardtops, this is a very desirable manual Pagoda which is offered at an extremely realistic price. A perfect example ready for a European tour perhaps or 2023's long summer days motoring

Lot 245

1968 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Pagoda Transmission: manualMileage:95282The Mercedes-Benz 280 SL was introduced in December 1967 and continued in production until February 1971. An all-new design by Paul Bracq to replace the 190 SL and 300 SL Roaster. The 280 SL had a powerful 2.8 litre version of Mercedes inline-six and used Bosch fuel injection. To save on weight the bonnet, boot lid and tonneau cover were all composed of aluminium. The nickname 'Pagoda' was quickly adopted thanks to the slightly concave roof on the optional removable hardtop that resembled a pagoda roof. The comparatively short and wide chassis, combined with an excellent suspension, powerful disc brakes and radial tyres gave the W113 superb handling for its time. These roadsters also have one of the most beautiful bodies produced in the 1960s. Thanks to their robust inline-six and their luxurious Mercedes interior, they are wonderful cars to be driven and enjoyed. The styling of the front paid homage to the legendary 300 SL with its characteristic upright Bosch €˜fishbowl' headlights and simple chrome grille, dominated by the large three-pointed star in the nose panel. This very tidy left hand drive example of this iconic German classic was imported from the US in 2016 and was then repainted in the traditional white which you see today. Its interior, which we believe to be original but cannot confirm, is red MB Tex and is in good condition. Its 2.8 engine is mated to a manual gearbox and we are informed it runs well. The car comes with its factory hardtop which is also in good condition and this Pagoda is priced very reasonably compared to many similar classic Mercedes-Benz and can be used every day or to tour in Europe, either way this is a stylish sports car and still turns heads on our roads today.

Lot 254

2003 Mercedes-Benz SL55 Transmission: automaticMileage:95356The fifth generation of the legendary SL series convertible sports cars was known as the R230. The Mercedes-Benz SL55 is no shrinking violet but the previous owner of this car was not satisfied and wanted to attract even more attention. A full wide body kit was used to convert the SL55 AMG to a recreation of the later Brabus SL65 Black Edition with the help of a professional ADAIR kit. Subject to a light category D insurance loss in 2013, ADAIR used this opportunity to facelift the headlights and expertly replace the panels with the wide body kit. The car today looks every part its £280,000 plus sibling, a real wolf in wolfs clothing and is described by our vendor as €˜an absolute goliath of a car'. We are informed that the engine has been breathed on with the intention of achieving 600bhp, however until dyno tested this is still an unknown, but it certainly feels very close to that figure. The incredible sound from the exhaust is enough to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end making this an exciting car to drive and own. We are also informed only one genuine SL65 Brabus Black Edition car exists and is held in a collection owned by the Dubai Royal family. An AMG super-charged V8 with the roof down is a perfect motoring scenario and so desired by fans of the SL Mercedes-Benz. Offered with a MoT test certificate until June 2023, this stunning SL will turn heads at every opportunity and will be sure to do the same when offered on 26th November at the home of AMG Mercedes-Benz.

1990 Porsche 944 Turbo Transmission: manualMileage:50980With a not inconsiderable 250bhp available to your right foot, this fabulous example certainly has the bite to back up its good looks. The condition is also excellent, a point not wasted on the vendor or indeed the one before him. It was the personal property of a notable Porsche enthusiast and owner of independent specialist, Porsche Torque in Middlesex for over 15 years. Supplied originally by Lancaster Cambridge and presented in classic Guards Red with a white linen leather interior, it has formed a part of two private Porsche collections over the years, down to two important factors, its low mileage and its superb condition and history. It also benefits from just four previous owners over the last 32 years from new.It came with 16€ Turbo-style alloy wheels, limited slip differential, ABS and power steering. Internal comforts included electric sports seats, air conditioning and electric windows and mirrors. A rare and expensive addition also fitted was a completely removable sunroof. This could be stowed in the boot when not in use and allowed the occupants maximum sun and fresh air without the noise often associated with a convertible. New sparkplugs and cambelts were fitted at the last service some 800 miles ago and an MoT test certificate will accompany the car valid until March next year. Unusually available, a pristine and unmolested example with unmarked coachwork and an interior commensurate with careful ownership and very light use.

1981 BMW M535i Transmission: manualMileage:115000The BMW E12 series was the first model to be given the 5-Series label. Built between 1972 and 1981, almost 700,000 were built in total in factories across the globe including locations as far flung as South Africa, Indonesia, and Thailand as well as the firm's native Germany. The replacement for the much-loved New Class it was offered with a wide range of engines from the 89bhp 1.8-litre of the BMW 518 through to the 3.2-litre, 197bhp 533i. Inline four and six-cylinders options were on the board, along with a wide variety of both manual and automatic gearboxes. Most had steel wheels, and all had recirculating ball steering. And yet, for all its humble beginnings, the E12 ushered in a whole new category into the sector, that of the high-performance saloon.Because the M535i was the first volume production €˜M' car (the M1 was a whole different kettle of fish, of course€¦). Launched in 1980, it is powered by a 3.5-litre straight-six M90 engine from the 635CSi that develops 215bhp. The gearbox is a €˜dog-leg' five-speed Getrag manual, and the rear axle features a limited-slip differential. Performance is strong rather than vivid, with 60mph coming up in just under eight seconds and a top speed of around 140mph. Of course, the braking system is upgraded, as is the suspension the latter being both lower and stiffer than standard and damped by specially developed Bilstein dampers. Front and rear spoilers give the car visual flair, while the interior gained fancy, figure-hugging Recaro seats and the M1's sports steering wheel. They were genuinely handbuilt. This lovely example of this superb marque has been the subject of much expenditure to include a complete respray in Black (its original factory colour) and a new black leather interior which included its Recaro seats. During the recommissioning, the engine was rebuilt also and is mated to the desirable dog-leg gearbox, it also comes with electric windows. This is a striking car in fantastic condition.

1978 Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC Transmission: automaticMileage:94900The R107 and C107 Mercedes-Benz SL variants have long been revered amongst classic car devotees, being built to exacting engineering standards and with a subtle air of sophistication. These cars were built from 1971 through to 1989, the second longest single series ever produced by Mercedes-Benz after the G-Class. The SL (R107) was a two-seat convertible with standard soft top, optional hardtop and optional folding seats for the rear bench. Its sibling, the SLC (C107) or €˜SL Coupé' derivative, was a two-door hardtop Coupé with normal rear seats. It was launched at the Paris Motor Show and signalled a shift in management thinking at Stuttgart about what made a successful luxury Coupé. Sporting a longer wheelbase and sufficient interior room for four, the SLC was a sleek two-door car that combined the seating advantages of a four-door saloon with the style of a sporty Coupé.This nice left hand drive example is presented in white with grey/black interior which has been reupholstered in herringbone and looks very presentable indeed. The car comes with electric windows, cassette radio, some previous servicing receipts, old MoT test certificates and its UK V5 Registration Document. These 2+2 German luxury touring sports Coupés are very sought after and being offered at No reserve, this example is surely one to go for!Interested parties should note that this car has developed an electrical fault which now prevents it from starting. Also, it has partially seized on its brakes and cannot be driven away and will need transporting.

1962 [JEX 110] Triumph T20SH Tiger Cub (Sports Home), 199cc single cylinder vintage motorcycle. N/S outer battery case missing. Will require some recommissioning before road use. Complete with original 'buff' registration book and current V5C among other history and documents. As the name suggests, the T20SH (Sports Home) model was intended mainly for the UK market. It was a development of the T20SS and SL models, which made it a real lightweight sports machine for the road. A 9:1 piston, 'R' cam, sports type valve springs, a close ratio gear cluster and large bore Monobloc carburettor made sure of that. This was a real 'Baby Bonneville'.
