Great BritainA well detailed and presented 1½in:1ft. scale model of Royal Mail, London - Dover Stage Coach, no. 17 (12¾ x 19¼ in, 32.5 x 49.5cm.), the chassis with braced axle beams, working leaf springs, wooden spoked wheels with metal tyres and hubcaps with bolted plates, metal furnished pole with swinging trees, steps and brake shoes. The body details include fully upholstered interior, glazed windows, opening door, driver and watchman's seats with leather covered cushions, lamps, tool box with blunderbuss, coaching horn, whip and many other details; finished in red, maroon and black with fine lining and lettering. Presented on a display base in the form of a cobbled roadway. Magnificent. An elm bowfront fender, the ends each with a detachable carved model of a frog, the front inset a brass gun dial inscribed `DIAL FROM KRUPP 5.9 GUN CAPTURED MACEDONIA 21.9.1918`, 25.3cm high, 150cm wide, 35.5cm deep. Provenance: The Old Rectory, Little Langford, Wiltshire. Sold by order of Trustees of the Estate of the late Miss S.F. Rooke.
A 19th century carved and painted wood model of the Majestic, the 124 gun ship of the line flying the white ensign with a planked deck to a carved Viking figurehead, mounted on an inlaid rosewood base mounted with two gigs, 36.4cm high, 42cm wide, within a reeded glazed case, 47.6cm high, 64.8cm wide, 25.2cm deep. Provenance: The Old Rectory, Little Langford, Wiltshire. Sold by order of Trustees of the Estate of the late Miss S.F. Rooke.
