1954 BSA GOLDEN FLASH PLUNGER 650cc Registration No - SHU 667Engine No - BA10 9259 Frame No - BA7.S.12122The BSA Golden Flash was the first model in the BSA A10 series and part of its design brief was it should be able to achieve 100 mph plus enabling it to compete with the Triumph range. The A10 series in various guises ran until 1963 when it was superseded by the unit construction A65. First registered in Bristol on the 26th March 1954, this Golden Flash has spent the whole of its life in Bristol and the surrounding area. It was restored 12 years ago over a five year period to concours condition by an ex Rolls Royce aircraft engineer who worked for BAC Bristol. As testament to a true craftsman, this bike still looks good finished in the black 1954 home market colour option for those riders who felt the Gold option was a bit too bright for them. This lovely bike has completed very few miles since and has recently formed part of a large collection of classic vehicles. Prior to going back on the road, it may require some recommissioning and the usual safety checks due to lack of recent use.Comes with - V5C and an extensive history file containing: original buff logbook, photocopy of its original registration from the Bristol Records office, old Tax discs and MOTs, restoration receipts, BSA Owners Club authentication letters for the DVLAEstimate: £4,000 - £5,000
1965 Austin Gipsy 1V S.W.B.Registration Number DLE 533CChassis No 18042Engine No TBA The Gipsy was Austin’s second four wheel drive vehicle which appeared on the market in 1958. At a distance it looked similar to the Land Rover but not close up and it differed technically in several areas. The Gipsy had an all-independent suspension and more importantly an all-steel body as opposed to Land Rover’s aluminum one. Power came from the well-established Austin 2.2 litre units with the option of either petrol or diesel. Large numbers of these vehicles were purchased by the Civil Defense Authority and were kept in storage for many years, some into the 1990’s. In the early years they were kept in secrecy, some in bomb proof bunkers, ready for immediate use in the event of a national disaster. The Gipsy remained in production, with the Series 1V model which was introduced in 1962 until it was discontinued in 1968 when the BMC-Leyland merger brought Austin and Rover together. The Gipsy in today’s sale was first registered in December 1965 and was one of the first batch purchased by the Home Office. It is powered by the 2.2 litre engine and is totally original, but is in as new condition. The vendor bought the car in the last dispersal sale in 1997 for his private collection and has been moved and driven regularly. It recently had a new master brake cylinder, all wheel cylinders and new brake fluid. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a total time warp with just over 1,000 miles on the clock. It would be a perfect addition to any collection and is ready to drive or show. Estimate: £12,500 - 13,500
1972 MZ ES250/2 TROPHY Registration No - PHJ 812K Engine No - 4714956 Frame No - 1401210 The MZ 250 ES/2 ‘Trophy’ was the pinnacle of the ES250 model range and was produced between 1969 and 1973. With 19hp on tap and a top speed in the mid 70s, it got its name from the many successes MZ had in the International Six Day Trial’s top category , the Trophy contest. This motorcycle was completely rebuilt in 2018 by, in his own words, a ‘serial MZ restorer’. the restoration of this bike was documented in the MZ Rider issue 235 October 2018, a copy of which is included in the history file. The restoration involved a total engine rebuild, frame and tinware stripped and powder coated and upgrades such as 12 volt electrics, electronic ignition and twin leading shoe front brakes fitted.Comes with - current V5C, 2 sets of Keys, A very extensive history file including restoration costs, receipts, magazines, manuals etc.Estimate: £600 - £800
1922 ROYAL ENFIELD 180 V Twin 976cc COMBINATION Registration No - CF 3401 Engine No - 2382658W Frame No - 18794The Model 180 8hp Royal Enfield 976cc V twin was famous for being a strong, powerful motorcycle, easily capable of taking on the extra weight of a sidecar and was favoured by companies that wanted a ‘Trade Box’ sidecar. The engine was designed and built by Vickers and the transmission was all chain drive via selective two speed clutches.First registered on the 11th April 1922, this is a wonderful oily rag survivor that has never been restored, it starts and runs and there are a couple of videos of this bike that can be found on ‘You Tube’ being started and ridden. It has been ridden and used at many VMCC events and even won prizes for most original bike. To find a 100 year old bike in this unrestored working condition is very rare, it is a true survivor. The bike has not been used for some time and may require some recommissioning as well as the usual safety checks prior to being returned to the road.Comes with - current V5C, an old V5C, an old V5 and a buff logbook. Tax discs going back to 1932, an original insurance document from 1932 and a large selection of old MOTs. Several other documents of interest. Estimate: £12,500 - 15,000
EXCELSIOR CONSORT Reg No. - NHR 604 Engine No - 652A 15582Frame No - F4S/9020Excelsior’s Consort model first appeared in 1953 powered by a Villiers 4F engine and continued until 1957 when it was replaced by the new Consort CA8. This example was restored back in the 1980s and although the engine has not been run for some time, it turns over freely using the kickstart. It should be noted that there is a hole in the top of the fuel tank (as per the photos) that will require repair prior to use.Comes with - no registration or other documentation. Estimate: £600 - 1,000
1925 Austin 7 ChummyRegistration No DS 6563Chassis No 13488Engine No 13630Austin were known for their larger cars from 1905, but in 1920 Austin started work on the concept of a smaller car to meet the needs of a growing population who aspired to own an affordable motor car. The looming Horsepower tax spurred the Company on and an 18-year-old, Stanley Edge, was employed to design a small car, the Austin 7 was born! Introduced in July 1923, the car proved a success with 290,000 cars and vans being produced by the time production of this model ceased in 1939.Coming from long term ownership, DS 6563 was purchased by the Vendor from the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu. The previous owner to the NMM, we are informed was a Charlie Russett from Southampton. There is correspondence between the Vendor and Michael Ware, the Curator of the NMM, about the car and a copy of a Consignment Note showing the car was originally registered UW 6415.The car is offered for sale with an older style logbook as well as a current V5C.Estimate: £8,000 - 10,000
1922 Hillman 11 HPRegistration number NK4362Chassis No. 426 Engine No. 104/H/426. Like many owners of early car companies in the UK, William Hillman had made his fortune making bicycles. When he wanted to move into car manufacturing he went into partnership with a young Breton engineer called Louis Coatalen who was the then Chief Engineer at Humber. The Company Hillman-Coatalen was formed in 1907 and the first cars had large engines of 6.4 and 9.6 litre engines. A smaller 2.7 litre joined the range in 1908. The partnership was dissolved in 1909 when Coatalen moved to Sunbeam and the Company was then known just as the Hillman Motor Car Company. The 12/15 design was continued until 1913 when A J Dawson who overhauled it and Hillman embarked on a single model policy, the 9 HP. The Nine horsepower sold reasonably well and the engine size increased to 1593 cc, 10 HP. When Dawson left Hillman to start his own Company John Black, Hillman’s son-in-law, took over where Dawson left off. The design continued unchanged, apart from the addition of electric lighting, until the model was discontinued in 1925.This particular car is believed to be one of only two of this model known to The Hillman Register. The two-seat body with dickey seat is attractively presented in red with black wings and the car has been restored in the past. The interior trim is leather and in good condition. The bodywork was constructed by the renowned firm Vanden Plas. The car is fitted with a full complement of brass Lucas lamps and, as from new, retains its Scott dynamotor and magneto ignition. There is a small history file going back a number of years. Included in this is correspondence between the owner in 1964 and the National Motor Museum, articles from The Autocar, a copy of a page on The 1921 Hillman Ten by Michael Sedgwick, technical specifications and a copy of a wiring diagram. Interestingly there is also a letter on file from Hillman Motor Car Co Ltd dated 1961 when the then owner was about to embark on a restoration and some photos taken in the 1960’s prior to this restoration. Estimate: £6,500 - 7,500 BETTER IMAGES TO FOLLOW

Championship-winning Martini-liveried B31 from long term ownership, continuously developed, very competitive, recently refreshed and in fantastic condition. Shy, intuitive engineer and vastly underrated driver, Derek Bennett, was once dubbed Britain’s Enzo Ferrari, yet his most stunning world-beating Chevron cars emerged from the gloom of a lofty old brick-built Lancashire cotton mill in Bolton’s Old Chorley Road. The Chevron story officially started with a pair of beautifully built front-engined sports cars for the quirky new Clubmans Formula of 1965. Bennett himself started a tradition by winning the model’s debut race at Kirkistown in Northern Ireland, but the prototype GT cars which followed paved the marque’s way to international stardom. The ubiquitous B6 and B8 coupes of 1967 and 1968 took the world by storm, particularly with 2-litre BMW 2002 engines, enabling pecunious privateers to take on the world while satisfying the demands of the greatest professional talents – superstars like Lancastrian Brian Redman.Debuted in 1969, the B16 sports racer – arguably the prettiest sports coupé ever to grace the circuits - spawned a long series of 2-litre prototypes, much beloved by connoisseurs of the sport then as now. Today, the closed coupés are among the most popular models, but the incredibly agile and quick open 'Group 6' sports cars, derived from a cut-down B16 Spyder (Bennett’s response to Lola’s T210), enjoy a loyal following throughout Europe. The B31 was an evolution of the B26 and featured subtle changes, such as slightly redesigned fibreglass bodywork, but it retained the same basic aluminium monocoque as its predecessor. Designed to compete in the European 2-Litre Championship, it was powered by a Hart 420R naturally-aspirated, 2-litre, 16-valve DOHC, fuel-injected straight-four generating 290bhp at 9,500rpm fed through a Hewland 5-speed gearbox. Suspension featured double wishbones, coil springs over dampers with an anti-roll bar at the front, and single top links, twin lower links, twin trailing arms, coil springs over dampers with an anti-roll bar at the rear. With ventilated discs all round, rack and pinion steering and weighing only 580kg, the B31 was incredibly nimble. The B31 offered here is the fifth of six documented as built in 1975 and at one point was finished in red and powered by a 3-litre Cosworth DFV. It's now superbly presented in Martini colours and is powered by an Anderson Racing Hart 420R coupled to a J&P Hewland FG400 transaxle, both of which have been rebuilt. Significantly, the car won the 2013 HSCC Martini Sportscars Trophy, achieving four out of 11 wins, and has been professionally maintained and further developed by our vendor ever since. Recently refreshed, it remains in fantastic condition and will come with basic running consumables and four spare wheels. The history file contains HSCC papers issued in 1998 and FIA papers issued in both 2001 and 2007, so renewal should be relatively straightforward if required. Superbly presented and fastidiously prepared, this fabulous little Alfa is FIA-papered until 2033, offering exciting racing at some of Europe's most prestigious events for years to come. Alfa Romeo introduced the Giulia Spider in June 1962, being a development of the Giulietta Spider but now with a 1,570cc engine and a 5-speed gearbox. The Spider bodies were designed and built by Pininfarina in Turin and the cars were assembled by Alfa Romeo in Milan. The Veloce version used twin Weber carburettors and hotter camshafts than the Normale to produce around 129bhp.This exceptionally rare 101 Spider Veloce was originally dispatched to Germany, equipped with the highly coveted 1,600 engine from the factory. Transitioned into a racing machine in the 1990s, it embarked on a successful and meticulously documented competitive journey, culminating in a recent comprehensive professional rebuild, leaving no nut or bolt untouched. In the skilled hands of Dr. R Schimmer of Dusseldorf, the Alfa underwent its transformation into a race car, gracing tracks across Europe including Spa, Zolder, Zandvoort, Brno, Hockenheim and the formidable Nordschleife, where it secured an impressive ninth place overall among 185 contenders in the Eifelklassik. Notably, it triumphed at Monza in the 2010 Coppa Intereuropa, starting from the very back of the grid.Acquired by its current custodian in 2021, it underwent a comprehensive overhaul, with attention to the rear axle, carburettors, gearbox and wiring. Engineered for reliability, it has never faltered in over 16 hours of relentless racing since its rejuvenation, looked after by Alficina, who are happy to provide race support in the future. The Alfa boasts an impressive track record, as evidenced by its achievements seen below:2022:Equipe GTS – Silverstone – First in classCSCC Classic K – Silverstone – Second in classHRDC – Silverstone – Third in Monza class2023:Donington Historic HRDC – Second in classEquipe GTS – Brands GP – Fifth in classHSCC Road Sports – Donington – First in classAlfa Revival Cup – Monza – First in GTS classEquipe GTS – Zandvoort – First in 1600 class (Saturday) (with Roberto Giordanelli)Equipe GTS – Zandvoort – First in 1600 class (Sunday)HRDC – Brands Hatch – Second in Monza class (Grant Williams)HRDC - Silverstone - Third in Monza classSuperbly presented, the Alfa commands attention wherever it roams, its rarity securing invitations to premier events. Fabulous 3.0 S fitted from new with a factory-supplied 'X-Pack', comprehensively upgraded to 240bhp very fast road spec yet superbly presented to a show-winning standard. The original dealer's invoice from 20th February 1981 that accompanies this remarkable Capri reveals that it began life a Capri 3.0 S in Midnight Blue with a black interior and factory sunroof and that, with number plates, delivery charges and VAT, the Capri would have cost its first owner the grand total of £6,538.37 had this particular owner not also chosen to tick the Factory X-Pack option box, thereby adding a further £1,834.05 to the bill. The X-Pack menu was extensive and covered bodywork, trim and performance options, however the Capri’s new owner restricted himself to four Fibresports wings and a set of RS wheels and tyres. All X-Pack options were dealer-fitted and were known as 'Factory' to distinguish them from the many after-market kits available.Having lived a normal life doing the things that Capris do, at some point, this 3.0 S was transformed into one of the most desirable Capris we have ever seen. We understand that the work was carried out by the owner prior to our vendor, with a restoration in 2008 and a further mechanical upgrade in 2018. Previous owners were obviously diligent as the massive history file contains every single MOT. It also contains over 100 invoices and receipts for the work carried out and is available to inspect at our Documents Desk. When the engine was rebuilt, it was taken out to 3.1-litres and the spec includes a balanced crank, pistons and flywheel, big-valve stage-2 heads refurbished and skimmed, high-compression pistons, steel timing gear and a Burton A9 camshaft enhances performance without compromising idle stability. Fuelling is delivered through Ford's original triple Weber carburettors, specifically the correct 42DCNF ones and additional upgrades include electronic ignition, a blaster coil, high-spec silicone leads, Facet fuel pump and a Janspeed manifold and stainless exhaust exhaust system. On the dyno, the engine recorded an output of over 240bhp, showcasing remarkable smoothness and tractability. The gearbox is a 5-speed from a later model, complemented by a limited-slip differential in the axle, providing efficient performance without unwanted noise. Bilstein adjustable coil-overs grace the front, while Bilsteins and single leaves adorn the rear. The braking system features big vented discs and alloy 4-pot calipers at the front, and standard with uprated shoes at the rear. Revolution RS wheels wrapped in Yokohama tires ensure excellent grip. Now finished in gleaming white with 'S' decals along its flanks, the Capri looks fabulous. To match the wings, it’s fitted with a Fibresports tailgate and bonnet opened with AeroCatches, Lexan composite rear and side windows and the front and rear bumpers have been replaced with genuine carbon fibre parts - much lighter but very expensive. The interior is finished to the same incredibly high standards as the rest of the car. It’s fitted with a full Safety Devices roll-cage ('dash-dodger' to preserve the dashboard), carbon door skins with billet aluminium furniture, supportive bucket seats, Securon full harnesses, flocked dash and an RS steering wheel.Although many of this car's upgrades would apply to a competition car, it was built for fast, safe road use and was undoubtedly a labour of love. The driving experience is nothing short of extraordinary, with a glorious sound that aligns with expectations. You’ll surely struggle to find a comparable specification Mk III on the market right now. This is really special and we invite and encourage your close inspection of this delightful Capri.Specification Make: FORD Model: CAPRI 3RD GEN Year: 1981 Chassis Number: WF0CXXGAECBR03631 Registration Number: DGS 383X Transmission: Manual Engine Number: TBC Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 91000 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: White/ BlackClick here for more details and images
Raced by two giants of British saloon car racing, initially in Production Saloons and now 'Group 1', this well-known Autoplan Warranties 3.0 S Capri has amassed a trophy cabinet full of wins over the last four decades and is now on offer with a new set of FIA papers. A slightly tongue-in-cheek suggestion by Roger Williamson, proprietor of Willhire Vehicle Rentals in Norfolk, resulted in the arrival on the club motor racing scene of the Willhire 24 Hours, an endurance race for production cars and Britain’s first 24-hour motor race. The event was staged every year between 1980 and 1994 at Snetterton Circuit, becoming known simply as 'The Willhire', and there can’t be many drivers at club and national level during those years that didn’t get involved at least once. Many Willhire winners went on to enjoy success in other forms of motor sport and we are proud to mention that our own Lionel Abbott won the race twice, firstly in 1986 with Mike Smith (the first two-driver team to win the race) and in 1988 with Graham Scarborough. It was initially assumed that a production car being hammered around Snetterton for 24 hours would self-destruct and so, for the first two years, it was a team event with up to four cars used, however the survival rate was surprisingly good and, from 1983 onwards, it became an individual event with cars shared by between two and six drivers. The Capri on offer today is a 1981 3.0 S that was originally built from a Ford-supplied trimmed body shell for the 1981 production saloon car championships. With funding from Autoplan Warranties, it was put together by Roger Dowson of Gerry Marshal Racing (prior to Roger forming Roger Dowson Engineering) and was finished just in time for the Willhire, where the ebullient Gerald Marshall and the equally quick but considerably better behaved Graham Scarborough co-drove the car to second place in that race. Gerry continued to race the car for the rest of the season winning every race entered and both Production Saloon Car Championships (BARC and BRSCC). At the end of the year, Gerry sold the car to Harold Hagan in Ireland, where it continued to race with much success. Some 15 years later, in late 1996, Graham Scarborough bought the car, still in it’s original Autoplan livery, and set about fully stripping it and rebuilding the Capri to 'Group 1' specification in order to compete in the Classic Saloon Car Club Pre-83 'Group 1' Championships. Graham’s well known standards of preparation and his undoubted ability behind the wheel resulted in years of success including many wins, dozens of class wins plus the Championships outright in 1998 and 1999 and the Class in 2000 and 2001. The car was well known at Spa, enjoying many successful visits up to its last outing there at the end of 2016.The Graham Scarborough-built 'Group 1' engine was refreshed in 2018 and was set up on Neil Brown’s dyno late in 2021 having done just three races and not used since. A new clutch has been fitted which transmits through to an original Hewland 'Group 1' close-ratio gearbox and an Atlas 3.44 ratio rear axle. More recently, the car has benefitted from a thorough refresh with the paintwork and period livery being restored to a very high standard. The car is well set up and well balanced with Bilstein dampers all round. The Capri is complete with recently issued FIA/HTP papers valid for ten years, making it eligible for Legends, Goodwood Members' Gordon Spice Trophy, Classic Touring Car Club (CTCRC) and the Historic Racing Drivers Club (HRDC) Gerry Marshall Trophy.Well known, much admired and superbly prepared, the 'Autoplan Capri' has always proven to be a very fast and very reliable front-running car and, in the right hands, should continue to be a winner.Specification Make: FORD Model: CAPRI Year: 1981 Chassis Number: N/A Registration Number: N/A Transmission: Manual Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Make: RHD Interior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images
Now available after long term storage, this well documented ex-Works and 'Group A' car presents a fabulous opportunity to own a genuine piece of British Rally History. To be offered without reserve Upon its debut in 1982, the Sierra's innovative design sparked more controversy than Ford had foreseen. Recognizing the need for robust marketing efforts, Ford identified it as the ideal platform to pursue their competitive ambitions alongside Cosworth. The Sierra met the criteria well with rear-wheel drive, sleek aerodynamics despite a tendency to lift at high speeds and availability as a three-door model. Whilst enhancements like a new body kit and rear spoiler addressed the aero imbalance issue, Ford faced the daunting task of producing 5,000 units for homologation. Initial estimates from the dealer network suggested they could only sell around 1,500 units, raising concerns. However, history tells a different story. Ford ultimately sold 5,545 three-door cars, including 500 RS500 variants, while the Cosworth engine found its way into nearly 30,000 Ford Sierra Saloons (Cosworth three-door, Sapphire two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive). The Sierra Cosworth surpassed Ford's expectations, emerging as one of the most successful Touring Car racers globally, clinching victories worldwide. In rallying, the 'Group A' Sierra - especially on tarmac - proved formidable against its four-wheel drive counterparts, exemplified by Didier Auriol's outright win at the 1988 Corsica Rally. D540 UVW was very well known, particularly in the West Midlands, where it featured on regional television on a regular basis. Brooklyn Ford were very strong marketeers and footage of this car was everywhere, particularly memorable with that distinctive wastegate 'chatter' and the fact that it was pink. The StoryOriginally a Ford-owned car confirmed by documents on file. Built in 1986 and finished in Diamond WhiteThen partnered with Brooklyn Ford Motorsport, who at the time were one of the most competitive rally car preparers. At this point, the car was prepared to 'Group A' specification for the 1987 RAC Rally and painted pink after the announcement of Mr.Tomkinson Carpets-sponsorshipDocuments in the form of V5s, registrations and letters from involved parties on file validate that the vehicle was owned by FoMoCo from new, then on to BrooklynOnce retired by Brooklyn, the car was sold in the early 1990s before finally being purchased by our vendor’s husband in April of 1995Due to its long term storage, it's not known exactly what specification the car is currently in, however the important information confirming the car's ID with the chassis number and registration is well documented and proven by correspondence between our vendor’s husband, the DVLA and Brooklyn Ford MotorsportCompetition History1987 - Made its competition debut at the RAC rally driven by Phil Collins. Sadly a broken diff lead to retirement1988 – 11 rallies across the UK with some top three finishes, piloted by Phil Collins1989 – Four events in the hands of Gwyndaf Evans, retired after whilst leading the Manx. Finished second at the Wydean Rally1990 - Eight Events entered, this time the driver being James Cullen, the most notable was a win on the Manx (Phil Collins) by almost five minutes, after an almost 18-month break from the sportThe car remains in its 'Mr Tompkinson Carpets' pink livery and looks, for all the world, like its just finished its last rally but realistically, is in need of a full restoration. There is a huge history file with lots of correspondence and original photographs which will help. This was an important car in period and returning it to top form may well prove to be a very worthwhile investment.Specification Make: FORD Model: SIERRA Year: 1987 Chassis Number: WF0EXXGBBEGG18808 Registration Number: D540 UVW Transmission: Manual Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 56010 KM Make: RHD Interior Colour: RaceClick here for more details and images
