Four European swords: a small sword, 18th century, hollow triangular-section blade 31.5 in., silver hilt with chiseled and pierced double shell guard embellished with martial trophies, part scabbard (missing chape); a British 1845 pattern infantry officer's sword, etched blade with stag's head crest and initials 'E.M.', steel scabbard; Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry: a British 1897 pattern infantry officer's sword, George V, light model blade etched with regimental title and battle honours, by Wilkinsons and numbered 32175, regulation hilt, leather covered scabbard (lacking shoe); and a Continental or U.S. style cavalry sword, slender curved blade, brass multi-bar hilt, horn grip, steel scabbard. Six 19th century continental military edged weapons: a French cavalry officer's sword with cut-down blade 23.5 in., ornate brass hilt with reeded knuckle bow and ebonised grips; a scaled down sword of 1831 artillery type, by Coulaux of Klingenthal, bi-fullered blade 19.5 in., cast brass hilt, brass mounted leather scabbard, possibly a Cadet's example; a French infantry sidearm of briquet type, First Empire period marking, brass mounted scabbard; another similar, possibly Belgian; and two French model 1866 Chassepot bayonets, steel scabbards [6]
German States: five brass hilted infantry sidearms: Prussian model 1852, straight spear point blade 25 in., hilt with S-curve guard and half spiral-fluted grip, associated leather scabbard; Saxon model 1845 or similar (3), heavy hatchet point blades, scroll terminal quillons and ribbed grips; Prussian model 1864, slightly curved blade, S-curve guard and beaked pommel, associated scabbard. A collection of nine various knife bayonets, in scabbards, comprising: two Brazilian model 1908, a Turkish model 1935, a Yugoslav model 1948 with ground off muzzle ring and leather frog; and five various Austrian models, including one with a rifle fore sight dovetailed into the muzzle ring and, another with a leather frog. [9]
A collection of German bayonets, comprising: a model 1884/98 with sawback removed, and another with plain back, both in steel scabbards; three Great War period Ersatz bayonets with all metal hilts and steel scabbards; and three parade, or 'walking out' bayonets, with plated hilts, beaked pommels, chequered composition grips, steel scabbards. A quantity of edged weapons, comprising: two British pattern 1888 bayonets, an India bayonet in scabbard with canvas frog, a Ross bayonet, two Japanese Arisaka bayonets in steel scabbards, an Argentine model 1891 bayonet in steel scabbards, another in associated steel mounted leather scabbard; an Argentine model 1909 bolo sidearm in steel scabbard. A quantity of bayonets, comprising: a Swiss model 1889, in steel scabbard with leather strap; a Swiss model 1899; a Swiss model 1918, steel scabbard; a Norwegian bayonet; a Belgian model 1924 export bayonet, in steel scabbard; a Spanish model 1913 bayonet in steel mounted leather scabbard; two U.S. bayonets with synthetic grips and scabbards; and another bayonet with alloy hilt and associated scabbard of British 1907 type. Signed paperback edition of Christopher Lee – The Authorised Screen History by Jonathan Rigby, published by Reynolds & Hearn Ltd., 2001. Signed by both Christopher Lee and the author in black inks to the title page. Together with a signed 10 x 8 photograph by the English model and actress Veronica Carlson, famous for her roles in Hammer Films, the image depicting Carlson standing alongside Christopher Lee, director Freddie Francis and producer Aida Young at Pinewood Studios. Signed by Carlson in bold black ink ‘A happy moment before filming “Dracula has Risen from the Grave” Veronica Carlson’. Further annotated by her to the verso. (2)
NEIL ARMSTRONG – An excellent signed colour 10 x 8 photograph by the first man to set foot on the moon, the image depicting a young Armstrong ahead of his first spaceflight as Command Pilot of Gemini VIII. Also shown are the three other crew members, David Scott (Pilot) and the backup crew of Charles Conrad (Command Pilot) and Richard Gordon (Pilot). All wear their blue NASA overalls and Armstrong holds a model of the Gemini spacecraft in his hands. Signed by Armstrong in blue ink to the image. (1)
A Chinese silver pagoda, raised on a hardwood stand, marks for Cumwo, 11cm high, a Birdi ware box and cover, 12.5cm wide, a silver teaspoon, Sheffield 1911, a filled silver model of two dogs, 4cm high and a cased pair of opera glasses, marked Gualdoni, 10.5cm wide, silver 1.8ozt (qty.)Condition report: Pagoda with some bent sections to the edges. The stand with some knocks and minor losses. Wear to the case of the opera glasses. The leather and gilt finish to the opera glasses have some signs of wear. Bidri ware box and cover with wear to the lined interior and knocks to the exterior.
