A fine hand-built wooden scale model ship, Cutty Sark, on a painted wooden stand, model length 167cm, height 115cm.The Cutty Sark is a British clipper built on the Clyde in 1869 for the Jock Willis Shipping Line to transport tea from China to England as the fastest ship in its day. The ship is part of the National Historic Fleet and is in permanent dry dock at Greenwich, London for public display.
A fine hand-built wooden scale model ship, Prins Willem Ano 1651, three masted ship, height 112cm.The Prins Willem was a 17th Century East Indiaman of the Dutch East Indian Company. The ship made its first voyage to the Dutch East Indies in 1651 and it sank near Madagascar in 1662.
Ptolemaic Period, 332-30 BC. A silver model the snake deity Agathadaimon with coiled body, raised head with punched eye and beard beneath jaw, loop finial to the tail. 6.61 grams, 26mm (1"). Property of a gentleman; from a Mayfair, London, UK, gallery. Very fine condition.
19th-18th century BC. A rectangular terracotta plaque with a low relief figure of a standing man wearing a short skirt and hat-style head cover, one hand raised in front of the face holding an instrument(?), left hand stretched behind holding a mace with long handle, three openings for attachment; possibly a model chariot front. Cf. Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, AN1924.495. 173 grams, 14cm (5 1/2"). From a German collection; acquired on the German art market before 1990. [No Reserve] Fine condition.
