Passionate about his craft, he had a deep knowledge of many areas, including bronzes, furniture, ceramics, and modern British painting. This passion was reflected in his own collection, avidly compiled over his lifetime and housed at his Cotswold home outside Chipping Campden.In retirement, he provided invaluable support to the north Cotswolds’ museums, as a trustee of the Guild of Handicraft Trust and the Court Barn Museum, as well as loaning works of art to the Winchcombe archive collection. A fully functioning and accurate model of a 19th century field gun with a 39cm barrel with indistinct numbering to the underside, with a bore of 17mm. On an carriage with metal bound 12 spoke wheels, attached fittings, cannon balls in boxes to either side, and suspended bucket below. 29.5cm tall, 70cm x 38cm *Condition: A finely constructed model, slight spotting to barrel.
An award or souvenir medal, obverse with a female wreathed figure presenting laurels to a figure presenting a model of a church, with other figures and buildings behind, the reverse 'Szekesfehervari Orszagis Kialitas 1879' Szekesfehervari being a city in central Hungary. 5cm. The case with a paper label 'Prize Medal with certificate for excellence of wine on my Hungarian-Ralkosky Vineyard' *Condition: light surface marks, generally good. Case poor. Certificate mentioned in text not included with the medal.
A Webley Air Pistol marked to the sides of the body 'Webley Air Pistol Mark II (Target Model) Webley and Scott, Birmingham and London' numbered 16055, with rotating safety and two part moulded plastic grip. 21cm *Condition: Appears to function correctly, slight degradation and rubbing to surfaces, a nice example.
With a 64cm barrel, marked to the side 'Webley Service Air Rifle Mark II, Manufactured by Webley & Scott, with rotating safety switch, numbered S706 behind the trigger and below the barrel, rising foresight, 106cm overall. Apparently only 1000 first model guns of this type were made *Condition: An attractive example, slight scuffs and marks to the body.
