A late 19th / early 20th century scratch built model of the mid 19th century clipper, ‘The Blue Jacket’. With black and gold painted body, and a planked deck. Complete with metal fittings that allow the attachment of masts and bowsprit (the aperture for the masts is currently sealed with cork stoppers). On the deck are two viewing windows that reveal some carved and painted figurines of blue jacketed sailors (hence where the ships name comes from), with another window showing the Captain and his wife, plus more sailors. Upon the deck is a turned brass compass. The boat sits upon a single wooden stand. Approximately 89cm length bow to stern, width 21cm. Condition: some age related wear. Some paint chipping and bubbling in places, and some light knocks to the wood.

Los 45

A fine quality WW1 era Royal Naval Air Service sweetheart style brooch. Manufactured in a gilt metal, with an infilled blue and white enamel ground, onto which there is a hand painted R.N.A.S. badge. Tube hinge and C clasp to the reverse side, but no apparent makers marks, nor any precious metal marks. Plus, an interwar period De Havilland company workers badge, dated 1929, marked silver the reverse, and with a button hole fitting. And a mid 20th century model aircraft pilot badge, entitled 'Frog Pilot' to the front in enamel, made in base metal with a pin and C clasp the reverse. Approximately 3.2cm width to the R.N.A.S. badge. Condition: very good. Undamaged enamels to each of the badges, and each with fittings to the reverse.

An early 20th century Folk Art wooden model of a Common Gull, on rectangular painted base, carved detail to closed wings and tail, black eyes and yellow painted beak, approx. 7cm high x 24.5cm wide. Further details: cracks to neck, small splits, wear and signs of age, cracks to ankles / feet etc.

Los 232

An unusual and scarce late 19th or early 20th century Japanese Meiji era carved bone warship, possible representing either a Shikishima class or Kawachi class vessel. Carved in bovine bone, with painted decoration to port and starboard, including a signature. The model features some incredible detail, such as tiny gun turrets, and each porthole being lined with tiny metal grommets. The modal is complete with its original bone stand. Approximately 13.9cm length, and 7cm height. Condition: very good. A tiny amount of wear to the painted decoration, but nothing that detracts whatsoever.

A late 19th / early 20th century carved sycamore wooden milliners model head, carved eyes, nose and mouth, approx. 23cm high x 14cm wide x 19.5cm deep. Further details: wear, small holes, small splits to top of head, right side of head has larger split and smaller splits (possibly a part of grain being changed when carved), minor nicks, scratching and nibbles to areas, base has small nibbles, general wear commensurate to age / usage.

 A late 19th / early 20th century ebonised wooden Folk Art model of a horse, on a oblong base, originally would have been a pull along toy with four wheels (not with item any more), naively made, approx. 64cm high x 74cm long x 24.5cm wide. Further details; missing tail and wheels, missing part of front right leg, loss to both ears, other areas with nibbles or chips, loss to ebonised areas, mostly to base, general wear commensurate to age / usage.

A 20th century 'Homunculos' bakelite / earlier plastic jointed artists model / mannequin, red colourway and on original circular stand, makers label (Kent, England) to front, approx. 33cm high. Further details: lower torso joint broken in past so lower torso and legs are detached from main body, one leg detached from lower torso part so loose also. Makers label has loss so slightly ineligible (parts), general wear, scratching etc.

An Austrian cold painted model of a Pigeon, impressed Austria underneath, in the style of Bergman, approx. 3.8cm high x 4cm wide.  Further details: some small areas of loss to paint, general wear commensurate to age.

A late Georgian era miniature model of a a sailing boat, housed in a purpose built glass and mahogany case. The vessel is simply painted in black, yellow and red, with delicate twine rigging. Glazed to the front and sides with a solid back, and resting on 4 ivory disc feet, and with 5 small turned ivory finials to the top (the 6th one missing). Inked inscription to the underside, reading ‘Christmas 1825’. Approximately 14cm width x 12.5cm height x 5.7cm depth. Condition: generally very good. Missing one of its small ivory finials as mentioned above. A few old light contact marks to the wood in places, but nothing that detracts. The glass is in perfect condition. A late 19th / early 20th century cased model of a fully rigged ship, named ‘Annie’. Featuring a black and red painted model, complete with 2 masts, rigging, and a bowsprit to the front. Also within the case are some old seashells and coral (with the coral being loose within the case), and some dried foliage. The case is painted in an ochre red, with 2 wall suspension brackets attached to the reverse. Complete with original period glazed front. Approximately 38.7cm width, 34.8cm height, and 15.4cm depth. Condition: some age related wear and tear. The ship within the case appears to be in good order and complete. There is some degradation to the paint to the back panel behind the boat, in the form with a circular crack - this would appear to correspond with a knot in the wood seen on the backing panel. The red painted finish has loss losses and wear in in the form of crazing. There is a crack to the bottom left hand corner of the glazed front, but this I is securely fixed and does not move around.

Patrick Rylands' own original technical drawing table - a  Bieffe 'Zucor Export' model. Toys designed by Patrick Rylands were drawn up at this table. Together with a Fred Scott for Hille 'Supporto' draughtsman's chair, in diecast aluminium, with worn upholstery. The chair was used by Patrick Ryland in conjunction with the draughtsman's table. A 19th century cased model of a paddle steamer ship. Housed in a purpose built box frame, the ship is set upon a blue painted representation of a rolling sea. In the background is what appears to be a kind of printed paper or wallpaper featuring foliage and butterflies. The frame is ebonised, with a gilt painted detail, with the back section tapering. A suspension ring is mounted to the back for wall hanging, or it can just sit on a flat surface if desired. No apparent names or dates to the piece, but certainly second half of the 19th century. Approximately 30.5cm across, 19.4cm height. Condition: generally good and solid. Some knocks and contact marks to the ebonised frame at the front, but nothing that detracts. The original glass is without damage. The suspension ring to the back is likely a later replacement.

An early 20th century wooden decoy model of a Pigeon, painted grey with white detail and yellow beak, in the manner of Trulock & Harris, on square footed base, pigeon approx. 35cm long, whole item inc. pigeon and base approx. 26.5cm high. Further details: loss to paint to pigeon - beak and body, wear to metal holder connecting pigeon to stand, nibbles, chips and wear to base etc.

A 1930s Atsco 'Oscar' bakelite articulated jointed artist model / mannequin, of deep red colourway, with metal joints, lightly defined facial features, and glove like hands, marked to underside of body piece 'Wirt Plastics L.A. CAL' and with oval stamped mark to back for 'Atsco, Oscar', approx. 52cm long. In a wooden crate with sliding cover. Further details: generally very good condition, some scratches, wear and marks commensurate to usage / age.

A 19th cased model of a fully rigged sailing ship. Of wooden construction, with applied threads indicating the rigging, and a Union Jack flying from the topsail. The boat sits upon and moulded and painted seascape, with a painted background featuring a lighthouse. Housed in an ebonised wooden case with glazed front. No apparent dates or signature. Approximately 40cm width, 29.5cm height. Condition: some age related wear to the case. The painted finish to the case has crazed and blistered with age. The glass front is original and is undamaged. The painted ship and seascape to the inside is a little yellowed with age, but the colours are still relatively strong.
