A French bronze model of a panther, early 20th century, cast after Georges Lucien Vacossin (1870-1942), stamped 'BRONZE VERITABLE' the veined marble rectangular base engraved 'G Vacossin', 27cm high, 75cm long overall. Vacossin was born in Granvilliers (Oise) and exhibited at the Salon between 1902 and 1937. A master of canine sculpture, some of his dog groups were used for Sevres models. An Italian brass and iron faldistorio, with a velvet covered seat, on turned tapering supports united by an 'H' stretcher, 28.75in (73cm) h, 26.75in (68cm) w, 21.25in (53.8cm) d. This type of folding stool derives from the Antique curule stool and became fashionable during the Middle Ages as it suited the peripatetic lifestyle of wealthy families. During the Renaissance this model of stool enjoyed the favour of Sovereigns, Popes and Bishops during outdoor ceremonies.
A bell metal portrait medallion of Cosimo de Medici, inscribed 'MAGNUS COSMUS MEDICES PPP', a medallion commemorating Kind Edward and Queen Alexandria, the verso with a view of Hotel Victoria, London by Elkington, five copper portrait medallions with traces of plating, a brass model of Napoleon on horseback, a brass figure of a young boy and two brass paper weights. Creed at Palais de, Palaiside, St Cloud', a framed letter highlighting the payment of a bill from Prince d la Mo??, and an 18th century three quarter length portrait of James Henry Creed holding a picture of his father, founder of Creed & Co, oil on copper, 6 x5in (15 x 13cm). BRITAINS Model Hunting Series - a Bowler Hatted and 2 Jockey Cap Huntsmen at trot (a Black and 2 Brown Horses), a Huntswoman (Black Horse) Side Saddle, a Girl on a Pony, a Huntswoman on Foot and 4 Hounds. A nice collection from Sets 234 and 1447. Girl on Pony has a broken leg and part of a Huntsman's crop missing otherwise Generally Excellent.
