A ROYAL DOULTON FIGURE "Little Mother or Dolly" HN469, in the form of a young girl in a night dress cradling a doll, with printed Royal Doulton mark, hand painted HN number and name "Dolly", 11". This early Royal Doulton figure has the distinction of going by two names. The base of the figure is marked "Dolly", while the HN number names the figure "Little Mother". This raises the possibility that the figure, designed by Harry Tittensor and entered into very limited production between 1921 and 1938, may be an early prototype from a time when a name had not yet been decided upon. There are two Royal Doulton figures named "Dolly" that match this model but these have either a different coloured dress or different coloured hair (HN389 and HN 390). This figure HN469 can be found on page 60 of the Charlton Standard Catalogue of Royal Doulton Figurines (10th edition) and is listed as "Only one known to exist".
