**Please note this vehicle is not exempt from the ULEZ charge as incorrectly stated in the catalogue**Just like any other Taxi - air conditioning, floor lighting, walnut dashboard, intercom, chrome handles, Alpine sound system and 1,581 miles from new - well, perhaps not. Offered here is a 19 year old, purpose-built London Taxicab that has covered a mere 1,581 miles from new. The vehicle was owned from new by Sultan Qaboos of Oman as part of his vast vehicle collection in London and was first registered in 2003. It's a London Taxi International TXII Gold model which was a top of the range model at the time and has the advantage of full air-conditioning front and rear, walnut dashboard, chrome grille and door handles and intercom system. At further expense a centre console was fitted in the rear to house a fully remote, high-quality Alpine sound system, and an occasional fold-down passenger seat in the front. The rear compartment also boasts floor lighting and a fold-down wheelchair access ramp. This taxicab looks, drives and smells as you would expect for what is, essentially, a new car. Always kept in heated garages, it has had occasional use only, yet has always been well maintained regardless of how infrequently used. The taxi comes with good service history and whilst it has never been used as a London taxicab, interestingly it is exempt from the city's Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) charge.SpecificationMake: LONDON TAXISModel: INTERNATIONALYear: 2003Chassis Number: SCRT4B6ME3C153410Registration Number: LF03 PPYTransmission: AutomaticDrive Side: Right-hand DriveClick here for more details and images
Joining the Edwards Collection in 2004 this delightful R is one of just 544 right-hand drive cars and finished in classic colours. This Collection is offered by the family of the late J. Anthony Edwards whose passion for Rolls-Royce and Bentley motorcars spanned decades. With business success in his thirties, Tony as he was universally known, bought a Bentley S1 that started his enthusiasm that led to owning virtually every subsequent model of Rolls and Bentley since. Tony even passed his advanced driving test in a 1996 Bentley Brooklands at the age of 75! At the age of 80 his passion was still undiminished when he exchanged a Phantom Coupé for a new Wraith. The cars that Tony loved to drive remained in the collection, some retained by the family, and these four cars are a testament to his diligent maintenance, each on the button, for the next custodian to enjoy as he did.Although launched at the Geneva Salon of 1991, many elements of the John Heffernan/Ken Greenley-penned Continental R had been seen at the same event as far back as 1984, when Bentley unveiled their `Project 90' concept car; a suitably enthusiastic reception leading the company to develop the car for production. Clearly, the Sultan of Brunei approved of the end result, as he bought the 1991 show car at the exhibition. The new car was based on the Turbo R floor pan and powered by that model's 6.75-litre turbocharged V8 engine, which was believed (Crewe never quoted horsepower figures back then) to produce in the region of 325bhp fed through the, then new, four-speed GM 4L80-E transmission.Whatever the power output, it was sufficient to give a top speed of some 150mph and a 0-60mph acceleration time of around 6.6 seconds - no mean feat for a car weighing in at some 2.5 tonnes and the best of any Bentley in its day. Unlike all other Bentleys since the S3 of 1965, its body was unique to the marque and not shared with any model of Rolls-Royce. All Continental Rs were finished and trimmed by Rolls-Royce’s Mulliner Park Ward subsidiary and carried MPW builder’s plates, with the bodies assembled by hand from machine-pressed panels. The Continental R was produced from 1991 to 2003, during which time some 1,292 of these exclusive motor cars found comfortable homes, with just 544 supplied in right-hand drive. The accompanying factory build-sheets for this 1998 Bentley Continental R confirms the delivery in Brooklands Green with single coachline in Sandstone, matching the Sandstone leather interior and Spruce green top-roll. Supplied by Broughtons of Cheltenham, it was registered to the first of just two former keepers on 1st August 1998. One of the few Bentleys in Tony’s collection, it joined its Crewe stablemates on 24th April 2004. Used often but sparingly, and maintained with the usual diligence, the car is presented today with an odometer reading of 46,058 miles at the time of cataloguing. The history file includes the aforementioned factory build-sheets, bookpacks, service book, V5C and previous MOT Certificates, the most recent of which is advisory free and valid until the 24th September 2023.SpecificationMake: BENTLEYModel: CONTINENTALYear: 1998Chassis Number: SCBZB15C0WCH63109Registration Number: S314 YNPTransmission: AutomaticEngine Number: 89477L410M/T1T Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 46055 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Sandstone LeatherClick here for more details and images
From long-term ownership, this Standard Steel Cloud I appears to have been particularly well looked after.Rolls-Royce broke from tradition when it introduced its Silver Cloud. Instead of building incomplete cars and delivering chassis to custom coachbuilders, the Silver Cloud (and corporate sibling Bentley S1) was a complete car clothed in a factory-built body. This allowed Rolls to produce the new car in far greater numbers and with a higher margin than previously and helped set the stage for future development.Typifying the growing economic confidence of the mid 1950s, the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud was larger, faster, and more boldly styled than its Silver Dawn predecessor. Introduced in 1955, there was nothing average about its standard steel saloon bodywork. The Silver Cloud was beautifully proportioned, benefitting from a modified J. P. Blatchley razor edge design, and it was a huge hit.A masterclass in formal elegance, it was underpinned by a new cruciform-braced box-section chassis equipped with independent coil-sprung front suspension, a live rear axle, and servo-assisted four-wheel drum brakes. Powered by a twin SU carburettor fed, 4,887cc straight-six engine allied to standard-fit 4-speed automatic gearbox (GM’s Hydra-Matic transmission was standard from 1956), the Cloud could waft along at over 100mph. Critics of the Cloud's later variants noted that the new 6.75 V8 was neither smooth nor quiet compared to the Cloud I's 4.9-litre straight-six.In addition, they had adjustable shock absorbers operated by a lever on the steering column, and the brakes got a second master cylinder in 1956. Chassis and suspension lubrication was facilitated by a foot-operated total-loss Luvax-Bijur system, with an oil tank on the firewall.Once affectionately described as 'a veritable country club on wheels', the model certainly boasted an inviting cabin. Trimmed with the finest hides, carpets, and wood veneers, it promised relaxation and contentment. The car presented here is a 1958 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud l which has had a cherished history, in more recent times, as part of a wedding car fleet. Regularly maintained and being a model of reliability, it is now offered for sale. VNP 777 is further understood to have spent some time in America, again, being dutifully cared-for. Indeed, our vendor has over £20,000 worth of receipts relating to its maintenance and upkeep.
