A late 19th Century Stevens & Williams terracotta cameo glass model plaque by William Northwood circa 1890, modelled in low relief as a seated female nude with flowing hair sat upon a rock covered with draped cloth, bears original paper label reading 'TERRACOTTA CAMEO MODEL No 8 - WILL NORTHWOOD C1890', numbered in ink No 8 to the lower corner, to the reverse in pencil 'GIVEN TO SAM THOMPSON BY WILL NORTHWOOD IN 1925', measures 11.5cm by 8.5cm.Provenance - The plaque was consigned by a descendant of Sam Thompson who worked for Stevens & Williams. These terracotta panels served as cutting guides for the cameo work produced by the firm.
