D'Oyly Carte / Savoy Theatre Company / Gilbert & Sullivan : An original programme for a performance of 'The Gondoliers' on Friday, March 6th. 1891 at Windsor Castle - probably a Royal Performance. This is a gilt edged folding card with chromo-lithograph background illustration and a red crown logo on the front. The list of 'artistes' features Frank Wyatt, Wallace Brownlow, Rutland Barrington and Jessie Bond among others - all well known contemporary stars whose fame developed in association with the roles they pioneered with the D'Oyly Carte Gilbert and Sullivan productions. In very good condition.

Coxe, New York, [1883], preface dated 1883, numerous b & w lithograph plates and leaves of text, advertisements at rear of volume, occasional spotting, title somewhat dust soiled and creased, later endpapers, armorial bookplate of the British artist Geoffrey S. Fitzroy (Robert). [Royal Charter Storm, An atlas of meterological charts of the British Isles and north western Europe for the period 21st October to 2nd November 1859, selected to illustrate the passage of the Royal Charter Storm, pub. 1861], lithograph `Notice` by Fitzroy printed by Martin & Hood tipped onto front free endpaper (oval Meterological Office Library ink stamp to upper right blank corner, dated 28 Aug 1918), thirty folding lithograph charts after Thomas Babington (numbered *1-18, 22, 26, 5a, 6a, 9a, 10a, 18a, 22a, A-D), front pastedown with manuscript note ÒLending Library 2nd copyÓ, hinges cracked, original navy cloth, gilt lettered ÒTenth NumberÓ to upper board, joints cracked, spine chipped and slight wear to extremities, dimensions of majority of charts 540 x 560mm, 4to. This work was the tenth Meterological Paper from the Meterological Department of the Board of Trade, produced to accompany `Storms of the British Islands`. The wreck of the Royal Charter on the coast of Anglesey in the early hours of 26 October 1859, with the loss of 459 lives, led Fitzroy as head of the Meterological Department to introduce a nationwide system of storm warnings in the following year. Weaver (Thomas). Geological Observations on Part of Gloucestershire and Somersetshire, From the Transactions of the Geological Society of London, 1824, hand-coloured lithograph folding geological map & sections of the environs of Tortworth, Gloucester, (cropped to left & right ruled borders), title inscribed to `The Misses Wolferstone from the Author`, disbound 4to. Comprising pages 317-368 of vol. 6 of the Transactions of the Geological Society of London. The geologist Thomas Weaver (1773-1855) studied geology and mineralogy from 1790-94 under Abraham Werner at Freiberg. Soon after his return to England he was entrusted by government with the investigation of the gold deposits in Wicklow. As a member of the Geological Society he became one of its active members, and published in the second series of its Transactions. He later travelled as a mining geologist in Mexico and the United States, and in 1831 began a series of papers on the carboniferous rocks of America. (1)

Olympic Games Berlin 1936. Olympic Village Poster - Olympic Games Berlin 1936. Construction paper of the 1936 Olympic Village with map of the grounds and description. Twelve sheets with instructionsand descriptions. Containing buildings, items and flags from the Olympic Village. With large map of grounds/poster ?Das Olympisches Dorf erbaut von der Wehrmacht des Deutschen Reiches für die Olympischen Spiele 1936? (The Olympic Village built by the Wehrmacht of the German Reich for the Olympic Games 1936). Muticoloured lithograph by Hasse, Map of the Olympic Village by J.F.Schreiber,Esslingen. 124 x 132 cm. This construction paper allows you to build the buildings and items of the Olympic Village. When finished, you can put them on the map/pster and thus generate a 3d-image of the Olypice Village 1936. The poster/ map of grounds was produced in two parts. They can be glued togehter at the fold. The building of the Olympic Village are numbered consecutively. The first half of the map is - apart for two small cracks - in good condition. The second half is in good condition but has two cracks. 36,5x24,5 cm cardboard, publishers J.F.Schreiber, Esslingen and München 1936. Some of the twelve construction papers are built together already. The magazine which comes with the construction papers (and which is often missing) consists of twelve pages. Above a photo of Duchamp`s famous ""Fountain"" is a vertical title reading ""Mona would have the fountain installed in the bloody basement"". Claremont, Barry McCallion, 1971. Central horizontal and vertical folds (from mailing) and staple holes, light wear and creasing to corners. Addressed on verso in green ink to Jeff Berner. Monte Cazazza is, of course, a founding father of Industrial and Apocalypse culture, and a frequent collaborator with Survival Research Laboratories and Genesis P.-Orridge.

REPS A set of eight mounted colour lithographs depicting details of Diego Rivera`s murals, all signed by the artist on white mount (overall size 47.5 x 35.5cm). Blind stamped Roman numerals on upper right corner indicating plate numbers. Lot comprises one lithograph of the mural in the National Palace in Mexico City (plate number XIX), four lithographs of the murals painted in the Chapel of Agricultural School in Chapingo (plate numbers VII, VIII, IX and X) and three lithographs of the mural depicted at the Ministry of Education in Mexico City (plates I, III and VI). Signatures slightly faded, minor yellowing to mounts. These reproductions of Rivera`s murals are part of a series of 19 lithographs printed in Berlin by the Ganymede Press which were made for an exhibition held in New York at the Museum of Modern Art in 1933. Few sets of these prints are currently known.

Signed and dated ""Mandela, 11.3.96"" on lower margin in blue ink. Multicolour offset lithograph. Tape residue to corners, one closed tear to upper edge and right corner. A 1cm tear to left margin. Light creasing. A very striking political poster. The poster was produced in 1989 in Johannesburg for the Congress of South African Unions (COSATU). Since it was illegal to publish photos of Mandela, his portrait was based on physical descriptions provided by those who visited the Anti-Aparthied movement leader in jail. The colours of the band and the lettering are those of the South African flag. The poster was printed by BB printers in Johannesburg at great risk of prosecution.

Milton Glaser is one of the most celebrated post-war graphic designers and was one of the founding members of the Push Pin Studios in New York in 1954. The lot shows Glaser`s wry coment on the `utopiate` counterculture of the `s. The poster was issued as the smallest one of a set of three Push Pin Studios posters in Push Pin Graphic No. 52, which was themed around hippy travel.

Mounted, framed and glazed, overall size approximately 44 x 50cm. In excellent condition. The work is inscribed in pencil to Charlotte Jolles, leading expert of the German poet and novelist Theodor Fontane. The present lot is part of a set of 30 pieces bearing Arabic numerals. A second series comprises 10 lithographs featuring Roman numerals. The composition is included in the catalogue raissonne of Gunther Grass`s works of art, edited by Hilke Ohsoling, Gottingen, Steidl, 2007, vol. II (L. 103, pp. 222-223).
