Provenance: private local collection, purchased from The Curwen Gallery, London from the exhibition Twelve Lithographs by Barbara Hepworth, with original exhibition booklet and purchase note dated 1969Condition:The item is a lithograph, framed under glazing - not examined external to the frame. The sheet appears in generally good condition, full margins are present and the blind stamp visible to the lower left. There is some general ageing (browning) to the edges of the sheet, There are no obvious faults or losses to the sheet. The colours appear well preserved and the surface stable. The picture is still within the original frame- the glass has cracked to the lower right corner and both lower corner joints are loose.

The sheet appears in generally good condition, no obvious faults or losses. The sheet has full margins, there is some general ageing (browning) to the sheet and there are stains coming through from the four corners where the print has been stuck down (see images). The colours are well preserved and the surface appears stable. It is within its original frame and there is some general wear and tear to the frame.

Lafayette lived at the Château de la Grange-Bléneau to the south-east of Paris, which he had acquired with his wife Adrienne, between 1802 and his death in 1834.
