A Swiss carved and marquetry decorated walnut fifteen-inch disc music box A Swiss carved and marquetry decorated walnut fifteen-inch disc music box, Polyphon, late 19th century, the mechanism comprising a set of star wheels driven by tangs on a rotating interchangeable steel disc engaging pair of tuned steel combs fitted to the gilt painted cast iron bed inscribed POLYPHON, the inside of the lid inset with a monochome lithograph of putti playing music, the exterior with marquetry floral spray decoration within a raised burr panel ground and carved cavetto moulded border, the front with geometric panel overlaid decoration, the right hand side with a crank winding handle, on conforming moulded skirt incorporating squat bracket feet, 57cm wide.
