The second (Bellin, Isle de Cheu Chan ou Isle Chusan…) Detailed chart of the area east of Ningpo (Ningbo) in the Chinese province of Chekiang, located across the bay from Shanghai. This chart is from the original edition appearing in 'Le Petit Atlas Maritime' and has attractive original hand wash colour. The third (Bellin, CARTE DES ISLES QUI SONT A L'ENTREE DE LA RIVIERE DE CANTON) An attractive and detailed chart, orientated with north to the left, showing the islands at the mouth of the Canton River and Latao and extending past Macao to 'Chang-chuen-chan ou isle de Sancian'. This small chart appeared in the five volume 'Petit Atlas Maritime' of the renowned French hydrographer, Jacques Nicolas Bellin. The fourth (Bellin, Carte de la Baye d’Hocsieu) This chart for the original edition of "Le Petit Atlas Maritime" shows the mouth of the Chiang River in the Fujian Province of modern day China. It covers part of the modern-day city of Fuzhou on the south eastern coast of China just west of Taiwan or Formosa. Very detailed, it also features towns, fortifications, islands, bridges, rivers and mountains. Depth soundings around the coastline are also marked.The fifth (Lazars 'CHINA') With attractive outline colour. This detailed map of China includes text giving measurements of 'The Great Chinese Wall' amongst other notations. Korea and Formosa or 'Taiouan' are shown in some detail. the map appeared in 'Lizars' Edinburgh Geographical General Atlas: Containing Maps of Every Empire, State, and Kingdom;...' The sixth (G Phillips & Sons, ‘CHINA’), This interesting map of China was published in "The Philips New General Atlas". In the bottom left corner is a list of useful Chinese terms, translated into English. Postage stamp-size insets show outline detail of the important ports of Chusan, Amoy and Hong Kong. The map is surrounded by a distinctive and decorative piano-key border.

A decorative and elaborate plate from Henri Abraham Chatelain's 'Atlas Historique' illustrating and describing Chinese people of all ranks and regions. Also displayed is a Jesuit Priest and the monumental bridge connecting two mountains in Xensi province.The second (Bowen, The Northern Archipelago…) Engraved by Thomas Bowen and published in the 'London Magazine', this map purports to illustrate the recent Russian discoveries in the northeast Pacific, showing the Aleutian Islands and a large 'Alaschka Island' off the mainland of North America. Trimmed close and laid on old paper. Jolly, Maps in British Periodicals I, LOND-306.The third (Lizar, China) An attractive and detailed map of China, including Korea, Taiwan and Hainan. Original outline colour delineates the districts. A note on the 'Chinese Wall' appears at the upper left, noting that it is 'so broad, that 5 or 6 Horsemen may travel abreast on the top'.The fourth (Swanston & Bartholomew, China) An attractive and detailed map of all China with inset details of Chusan and the estuary of the Canton River from Canton to Macao and Hong Kong.The fifth (Mayers, From Tungchow to Peking) William Frederick Mayers was one of a number of British Consular officials active in the major ports and towns in the Far East during the mid-nineteenth century. His work "Treaty Ports Of China and Japan" was a source of much valuable information for visitors whether in the pursuit of trade or as tourists, and included detailed folding maps of many of those trading ports featured. Published in London and Hong Kong. This map shows in good detail the road from the town of Tungchow to Peking's outskirts, approximately 14 miles with remarks as to the road surfaces, ie whether 'Stone Paved' or not. Printed in light scarlet ink on thin rice paper with backing to old fold weakness.

Diese wohl vom Inhaber des Hotels Fritz Bettmann (1824 - 1875) selbst in Auftrag gegebene Grafik setzt diese in Darstellungen, Texten und Paragraphen zum Bier- und Weingenuss um; auf der linken Seite ein Porträt Bettmanns, rechts eine Ansicht mit Zecher. Bez. "F. Bettmann, Krone" bzw. "Hotelier Bettmann, Krone". Ger. Randeinrisse und -läsuren. Ca. 66,5 cm x 51,5 cm. Rahmen. Das seit dem 18. Eggert, Franz Xaver -- Die Glasgemälde der neuerbauten Mariahilfkirche in der Vorstadt Au zu München.13 (von 20) handkolorierte Lithographien nach Joseph Anton Fischer und Johann Schraudolph, aus zwei oder drei Bögen zusammengesetzt und auf Untersatzpapier montiert. Meist 100,5 x 24,5 cm. Oben spitzbogig geschnitten.Die Mariahilfkirche in der damaligen Vorstadt Au zu München wurde von König Ludwig I. in Auftrag gegeben und 1839 fertiggestellt. Sie gilt als erster neugotischer Kirchenbau Deutschlands. Wegweisend wurden auch die Glasmalereien nach Entwürfen von Joseph Anton Fischer und Johann Schraudolph, die u.a. von Heinrich Hess, Max Emanuel Ainmiller und Franz Xaver Eggert ausgeführt wurden und die im Zweiten Weltkrieg verloren gingen. Eggert, der sowohl als Glasmaler als auch als Lithograph tätig war, gab 1843 lithographische Mappen nach den Glasbildern in schwarzweißen und kolorierten Exemplaren heraus. Neben der Auer Mariahilfkirche gestaltete er auch Fenster für die Dome von Köln und Regensburg. - Ausgezeichnete Drucke in unterschiedlichen Erhaltungszuständen, meist etwas gebräunt und mit Handhabungsspuren. South East Asia.- St. John (James Augustus) Views in the Eastern Archipelago, Borneo, Sarawak, Labuan, first edition in book form, tinted lithographed pictorial title, 24 tinted lithographed plates, of which 3 folding, paper guards, some spotting and foxing, including to plates, cracking to gutter with a few plates and text ff. towards the beginning loose, original green cloth, blind-stamped and gilt, a few minor instances of soiling to covers, spine lightly sunned, bumping to spine ends and small tear towards head, [c.f. Abbey, Travel 548 (in parts)], folio, Thomas McLean, 1847.⁂ Scarce. Originally published in parts (see Abbey), the work lauds British influence and expansion within the Eastern Archipelago, in particular the activities of Sir James Brooke in Singapore (which is depicted in one of the plates), Borneo, Labuan and Sarawak, where he became the first governor in 1841. The tinted lithograph views are by J.W. Giles, after drawings made from life by Captain Drinkwater Bethune, Commander L.G. Heath and others.
