Mid 19th Century Marriage Fan, on slender late 18th century carved and gilded ivory sticks and guards, with diamanté rivet; double paper leaf printed with a lithograph depicting four young women seated by a tree with two suitors awaiting their attentions, 28cm Provenance: confirming a marriage fan by the attached handwritten note, written in Italian dated 1849Gilding rubbed to sticks and guards. Cracks to the each of the guards, behind the pierced decoration, it has also been repaired here aswell. Wear to the paper folds, gilding rubbed, small splits to the top of the mount along the folds. Several small repairs.
