A rare Caithness Limited Edition Queen Elizabeth I sulphide paperweight (originally ex. The Caithness Museum when the factory was closed down), the piece is rare due to it being an artist's proof (etched to underside), also etched to the underside Elizabeth 1st, the paperweight has been produced in amethyst and clear glass with round facet cut windows for viewing the royal portrait bust within the crystal glass, full-size version circa 1979/80 and designed by Colin Terris. This particular edition closed at only 390 ever produced for sale. Colin Terris was one of the leading glass artists working for Caithness and he has designed and made some of the most sought-after collectable paperweights, in perfect condition (approx. 6.75cm diameter)
A pair of hand-cut glass table lustres with circular droplets together with a 19th century glass bowl facet cut with flower heads and ovals etc., (some damage) (3), the lustres 25cm high There is some damage to the table lustres within this lot. The circular hand cut vase appears to ring quite well, there is a small bubble blemish to the outside of the lip on the vase but this seems to have been produced when it was made. The bottom of the underside, the outside of the foot appears to be quite irregular which may suggest that the piece has had some damage to the outside of the foot rim and has been ground down. The lip of one of the table lustres has been repaired, there is a 2cm chip away and a chip at the top also and the reparation is two staples now holding the damaged piece in place. It looks as if the main Campana shaped top has been glued into the larger nozzle/drip pan, underneath this where the main hobnail cut inverted baluster shaped support is there is also a prevalent chip away to the top of this section where it affixes to the sconce with a waisted brass ferule. The second table lustre (with the label) appears to be in slightly better condition, there are some chips and nibbles away from the extremities at the top of the piece although it does not appear to have been broken and repaired. There is no real evidence of glue and appears in much better original condition than its partner. The droplets, both of the lustres have the top droplets intact and the ones hanging below with seven cut glass facets, most of these if not all of them appear to be there. The circular feet appear to be in reasonable condition with no major problems except for the first lustre which has a 1cm small chip away to the edge.

F. & C. Osler, a rare set of six gilt-bronze (with cut-glass droplets) neo Classical-style wall appliques, each oval applique surmounted with an anthemion motif above an elliptical frame centred and headed with an ormolu flower head radiating varying sized cut-glass droplets into the frame decorated to the edge with a running guilloche-style design, each applique finished with a hop-style inverted finial motif, each approx. 33.5cm (highest) x 15cm (width of oval frame at widest point), with detachable 'candle' tubes and now wired for electricity, the appliques marked Osler to the lower circular affixing point behind the hop finials, circa late-19th/early-20th century. F. & C. Osler was established in Birmingham in 1807 and created some of the most impressive glass chandeliers, lighting fixtures and decorative furnishings of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Well-known for innovative design and high quality, their mostly notable commission included in 1847 a pair of large candelabra for the tomb of The Prophet Mahomet in Mecca and the 8-metre high crystal fountain for the 1851 Great Exhibition which contained 4 tonnes of crystal (sold together with a letter from Mallett (Bond Street, London dated 23rd December 1991)One of the appliques has a twisted, bent candle arm. Some of the cut crystal is missing and needs to be replaced although it look like there are two long faceted crystals which have come away and are still extant within the lot. The gilding has darkened down significantly. There are one or two instances of minor bending to the gilt metal although nothing drastic apart from the candle arm already mentioned. The pieces seem to be stamped Osler to the lower circular wall affixing plate and this cannot be seen once this is against the wall. They look highly attractive and in our opinion it is a rarity to find a set of six and they appear to be generally in good original untouched order with no reparations noted and no other additions or alterations. Some of the droplets are missing and these are evident in the images. The appliques come together with a letter from Mallet dated 1991 and as we understand it these have been in the vendors family for many decades and are obviously fitted for electricity.
