Workshop of Thomas and George Woodall - A blue and white English cameo glass oval plaque, cut with a detail from The Moorish Bathers, a young woman in diaphanous gown before elements of a Moorish building, a smoking censer to one side, leaves from a potted palm plant to the other, within a stiff leaf border, Stourbridge, England, circa 1900, 8.5 x 7cm, in a fitted tooled leather and velvet display case, 12.3 x 9.5cm**Compare with the large plaque of The Moorish Bathers, by George Woodall for Thomas Webb & Sons, circa 1898, part of the collection of the Corning Museum of Glass, United States of America, accession number 92.2.10, considered to be George Woodall's greatest achievement. The blue colouration is reminiscent of the colour used for the copy of the Portland Vase by John Northwood which may suggest an earlier date from that of 1900 as both Thomas and George Woodall were apprenticed to J & J Northwood before joining Thomas Webb.
