Fine late Victorian Royal Presentation silver capstan inkwell given by TRH The Duke and Duchess of York (later King George V and Queen Mary), to their personal doctor, Sir Alan Reeve Manby, for attending them on their Royal Tour of the Colonies 1901 - the hinged lid inset with silver plaque with relief portrait busts of The Duke and Duchess, the underside of the lid with Royal Yacht crowned anchor and rose motif and inscription 'TRH The Duke and Duchess of York Visit to the Colonies 1900', the inkwell with gadrooned borders and original glass liner with star cut base (hallmarked Birmingham 1900 Nathan & Hayes) CONDITION REPORT In good original condition - the liner is in good order
Formerly the property of Mrs Alice Keppel (1868 - 1947), the British society hostess, beauty and mistress to HM King Edward VII - a fine Regency Apsley Pellatt & Co. gold mounted cut glass scent flask in the form of a crown - the stopper in the form of a cross, the gold mounted collar decorated with rose, thistles and shamrocks, the crown profusely and finely diamond cut with hobnail cut base, circa 1825 - 1830 - most probably made for The Royal Household and given to Mrs Keppel as a gift by King Edward VII, 9cm high x 9cm wide, the base 6cm diameter. A similar crown flask was commissioned for Queen Adelaide from Apsley Pellatt & Co. when her husband King William IV ascended the throne in 1830 (on loan from Melissa John at the Bentley Priory Museum Collection).Provenance: Mrs Alice Keppel by descent to her daughter, Violet Trefusis and thence to John Phillips CONDITION REPORT Good original condition. A tutti-frutti giardinetti brooch, with assorted oval mixed cut rubies, sapphires and emeralds, all four claw set in yellow collets. Silver leaf sprays between, set with old cushion-shaped and circular eight cut diamonds, with a triangular diamond, claw set at the top. A circular cabochon ruby, rub set at the bottom of the spray to a moulded green glass urn, with a graduated baguette cut diamond plinth, all rub set in platinum. Two pairs of glass candlesticks and four cut glass decanters and stoppers Condition Report: Lot 281:- Airtwist candlesticks - one drippan broken and glued, smaller cur pair in good condition. Stuart crystal decanter (step-cut neck) has tiny chips to the edge of the cutting around its middle. The tallest decanter has a few tiny chips to cutting, the stopper has part of the base missing. Hobnail decanter has scattered chipping to points. Chipping to aperture for stopper, stopper is not a perfect fit. Liquer decanter has scattered chipping. Small chip to pointed tip of stopper.
