ENGLISH SCHOOL "Lady in blue dress with hair in ringlets", miniature portrait study, oval, oil on ivory, unsigned, 7.5 cm x 6 cm. CONDITION REPORTS Sealed within frame and new paper to back of frame. Unable to inspect portrait fully, but when inspection through the glass it appears in reasonably good order, although the edges are visible within the aperture are are quite rough-cut. Aperture is slightly larger than the edges of the picture. Frame with wear, touch up paint, scuffs, craquelure.
A pair of Bohemian pineapple cut and ruby flash overlaid glass decanters with silver necks, together with ruby flash and cut glass stoppers (silver collars by C J Vander, London 1973) 28 cm high. CONDITION REPORTS Basically both appear in sound condition though both with dents and scratches to the top of the silver mount. One stopper No'd. 62 as is the base of the corresponding decanter. The other is No'd 64 (decanter not numbered). The aperture of No. 62 is 2.7 cm and of No.64 2.3 cm. Both have white blooming to the interior of the decanters. The cutting appears to be basically intact though with some signs of wear and tear conducive with age. No. 62 has a small chip to the bottom of the overlaid banding (see image) - otherwise sound. No. 64 again basically sound but with small chip to interior of bottle neck (see image) and small chip to base (see image). Almost all gilding to the ruby overlay is worn to the point of being almost invisible.
An early 20th Century glass decanter of waisted form with silver collar (by Maxfield & Sons Ltd., Sheffield 1911), with associated cut glass stopper, 22.8 cm high. CONDITION REPORTS The stopper unfortunately has a chip to one edge approx 1 cm x 1 cm and several other nicks around the top and to the base of the stopper. However, stopper may well be a replacement. The decanter itself has some general wear and slight surface scratching conducive to age. Slightly dirty but otherwise OK.
R. LALIQUE "Clytie, Source de la Fontaine", Model 838, frosted glass, circa 1924, designed for use in a fountain welcoming visitors to The Paris Exposition of 1925, 71 cm high, together with an associated modern adzed oak display case. CONDITION REPORTS Slightly dirty with one or two small pin head sized spots of white paint down one side, has some light scratches to the front, and centrally on the plain inner section there is a scratch running from one side to the other (see photo), chip to right-hand side of base of foot (see photo) approx. 2 x 2 cm and some surface scratches, bottom support has been crudely cut away (see photos), back of the piece shows scratching and areas of whitening (where it has probably been laid down on a hard surface), there is a chip to the back on one edge approx. 1.5 x 0.1 cm, also a section of white paint to one edge (see photo), hands show some slight faults from the original casting (see photo) but slightly uneven bubbles, and small pin head sized chip to the outer edge along the front of the gown (see photo).
A matched pair of George III silver salts of oval form with pierced and bright cut decoration, bearing armorial depicting monkey in chains, raised on four claw and ball feet, with blue glass liners, together with a pair of Edwardian silver drum mustards with blue glass liners (by James Dixon & Son, Sheffield 1908), a set of four George III silver mustard spoons (by Stephen Adams, London 1803), 10.3 oz total, together with a pair of plated ice tongs.
An early 20th Century leather travel case initialled "F M", with fitted interior containing various cut glass silver mounted bottles (by Thomas Jones Watson, London 1907), silver mounted wild boar tusk boot pulls, shoe horn, button hook, various boxes, watch holders, etc., housed in canvas carrying case, together with a brown leather suitcase with contrasting moire silk lining inscribed "To the Royal Family, Drew & Sons, Piccadilly Circus W1" with canvas outer case stamped "Mrs. Lewis Williams". CONDITION REPORTS Travelling case and cover with wear,scuffs, some stains. Contents incomplete and some are associated. Please see photos for examples.
