The tray in blue silk, compartmentalised and fitted comprising a set of six mother of pearl top pierced and carved reels with finials, matching tape measure, waxer and emery, a set of twelve mother of pearl silk winders, a cut glass and gilt mounted scent bottle, a matching pair of needle book and pin cushion with carved and pierced mother of pearl covers, a central removable tray with needle, mother of pearl tambour hook, a gold bladed folding knife with mother of pearl scales by Joseph Norton, two pairs of gold mounted steel scissors, a peg in worm corkscrew, a gold tweezer earspoon, a mother of pearl gold mounted letter knife the handle incorporating a folding steel blade by Palmer, folding glove hook, an open top gold thimble the frosted ground with raised Gothic freeze, the companion thimble (hole to top), bodkin, a gold propelling pencil with inset amethyst top, and a gilded pearl handle stiletto. Original gilded key for the lock stamped 'Barrons Patent' below a crown, the case with an inset engraved brass tablet between the hinges 'F. West Manufacturer to Her Majesty, Prince Albert and Royal Family, No 1 St James's Street', 31.5 x 22.5 x 13cm high. Fitzmaurice West cutlers and dressing case manufacturers to Her Majesty Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and other members of the Royal Family succeeded G. Palmer at 1 St James's Street in 1844. They moved to 2 St. James's Street in 1877 and then to 9 King Street in 1883.

The lid interior fitted with a mirror, over a flush fitted velvet tray with floral embroidered border with gilt and pearl beads. The fittings in mother of pearl comprising a set of four snowflake winders, a carved cornucopia needle case, a stiletto with steel shaft, a bodkin, a tambour hook, a thimble with gilt metal bands, a pair of steel scissors with gilt mounts to mythical beast arms and serpent oval loops, a pair of steel scissors, and a cut glass scent bottle with gilt screw cover, complete with silk squab and key, 26.5 x 18.5 x 11cm.

Lot 665
A pair of George IV cut glass and silver mounted oil and vinegar bottles, George Piercy, London 1825, the hinged lid with shell thumb piece and thread handle above the stepped neck and pillar fluted body. Height 22.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Makers initials have been overstruck. There are some very tiny flea bite size nicks to the base of each but these are insignificant and not visible to the naked eye. Otherwise in good condition throughout with no post production faults.
