There is a large shrinkage crack to the top surface (image), the top has watermarks and surface scratches, commensurate with age and use. The top lock has been remixed.

There are very small chips to the edges of the cutting scattered throughout, the largest is around 3mm however most are around 1mm wide. No serious damage or chips and generally in very presentable condition.
Jennens and Betteridge Papier Mache inkstand Jennens and Betteridge Papier Mache inkstand, painted with flora and fitted with two cut glass bottles, also a Clay King Street Covent Garden bread basket, impressed marks to bases, early 19th century.The inkstand measures 40cm wide Large chip to the rim of one ink bottle, the other has small corner chips. There is a surface or shrinkage crack to the edge of the inkstand and the underside however it remains structurally sound. The basket has small nicks to the black finish as well as overall crazing. There is some gilt wear to both pieces.
