Lot 7

William IV desk inkstand of rectangular form with raised floral, acanthus leaf and scroll border with central engraved armorial, raised on four bracket feet. Central chamber stick, to each side a cut glass inkwell with silver mounts. The armorial depicts the coat of arms of Beaumont of Whitley hall, Huddersfield impaling another, possibly for the wedding of Richard Henry Beaumont of Whitley hall to Catherine, daughter of Timothy Wiggin of the USA on the 3rd December 1831. Maximum length measures 11 inches (28cm). Hallmarked Edward, Edward Jnr, John & W. Barnard London 1831. The desk stand has general scratches, marks and tarnishing to the whole reflective of the age of the piece. The engravings are worn. All hallmarks are clear and distinct to the base of the piece, the hallmarks to the mounts of the glass jars, are more worn, especially the sponsors mark. There are large noticeable chips to the base of the glass jars, also with sizeable chips to the bodies. The central chamber stick is of white metal and is not hallmarked, and therefore could possibly be associated. There is one screw missing from the base.

Lot 8

George III desk inkstand of rectangular form, with shaped gadrooned scroll rim and sunken fluted channels, three compartments of floral open work design with two associated cut glass bottles with white metal mounts for ink and pounce and central associated white metal ornate candlestick holder, raised above four open work bracket feet. Length measures 12 inches (30.5cm), weight not inclusive of cut glass jars 27.54ozt (856.7gms). Hallmarked London William Plummer 1770. The desk stand is in good condition. There are minor surface scratches and areas of discolouration to the whole. The underside is very badly tarnished. The three compartments are removable by means of two rods located beneath the stand. On the bases of two of the compartments there are black marks. The decoration is all undamaged. The central lid has a bent rim which means it does not fit in the compartment properly. The candlestick is in good condition, and the decoration is tarnished but unrubbed. The glass jars are a little scuffed and dirty but otherwise undamaged. Their lids are in similar condition. The hallmark on the base is clear and unrubbed. There are no hallmarks on any of the other pieces, and nothing to suggest that they are original or that they belong together.

Lot 18

Victorian capstan inkwell with hinged lid the whole embossed in high relief with floral scrolls, vacant cartouche, thread detail decoration and cut glass liner. Height measures 2 inches (4.5cm). Hallmarked John Grinsell & Sons London 1894.

Lot 46

Victorian silver cruet set the club shaped stand raises on four turned feet decoration with scroll decoration, comprising a silver salt, mustard and pepper with cut glass bodies, dated London 1874/75, together with a matching spoon and associated example, the stand marked Hunt & Roskell Late Storr & Mortimer and numbered 2862, dated London 1875. The stand for the cruet set has surface scratches to the whole, especially where the salt, mustard, and pepper stand. There are also a number of marks, dints, notches, and tarnished areas. The handle looks as though it had engraved decoration, but this has been mostly worn away. There are some areas of polish build-up, particularly on the feet. he mustard and the pepper have scuffed bottoms, and their glass has some small chips around the top and bottom. The lids of both have some surface scratches and tarnishing. The mustard's hinge looks as though it might have been repaired at some point. its lid will not unscrew. The pepper's lid unscrews easily. There are remnants of the condiments left in these two vessels. he salt and two spoons have surface scratches and marks to the whole. The gilding on the inside of the salt has worn away in places. ll the hallmarks are rubbed but still legible.

Lot 80

Early twentieth century selection of associated cylindrical condiments, to include two similar peppers with decoratively pierced domed lids hallmarked Birmingham 1921, sponsors mark reads E.S.B, two similar peppers with scrolling handles, one hallmarked Chester 1901, sponsors mark W&B, the other hallmarked Chester, date letter indistinct, sponsors mark part rubbed possibly K&B, and a lidded mustard with blue glass liner, hallmark indistinct, sponsors mark E.S.B, and associated spoon. Together with a three napkin rings, a Victorian triple cigar holder with bright cut floral engraving, hallmarked Birmingham1984, etc Gross silver weight 9.08ozt (282.5gms).

Lot 81

An oak Tantalus mounted with silver plated plaques and handle, locking mechanism to the handle, with three associated glass decanters with stoppers. Height including handle measurers approximately 12 inches (31cm). The tantalus is in reasonably good condition. There are some very minor marks to the wood, and some build-ups of dirt, especially around where the decanters sit. The silver plate has worn off the plaques and handle in places, and there is a fair amount of tarnishing, especially to the underside of the handle. The locking mechanism works well still, and the handle moves freely. The velvet covered pieces of wood on which the decanters sit are all loose, and the velvet is worn, stained and dirty. The decanters are made of cut/molded glass. They are all in reasonable condition, with varying amounts of chips and dirt. One of the decanters is more badly damaged than the others. Two of them match, but there is nothing to suggest that any of them are original to the tantalus.

Lot 838

Five items to include an ivory and cut steel hand design clip, a banded agate and metal stamp, a chalcedony set retractable pencil, an ornately decorated eye glass and one other item. In good to fair condition. The ivory clip is showing signs of ageing and discolouration and is in need of a good clean, two of the fingers have chipped, measures 10cm in length. The eye glass could again do with a clean, the metal decoration is showing some wear and tear and the glass is a little loose in the setting, measures approximately 7.5cm. The stamp metal is showing wear and tear and discolouration, the agate is a little loose at the base and the agate handle has some external cracks to it, measures approximately 7cm in length. The pencil is engraved with E from L to the centre, the metal is showing some wear and tear and discolouration, length 5.5cm, the stone at end has slipped in setting and pencil has a loop to centre. The other item appears to be a broken perhaps stamp and is showing wear and tear and some of the gold colour metal has worn away-length 4.5cm.

Pair of suspended cluster earrings with a central blue garnet topped doublet surrounded by rose cut diamonds on a drop fitting with security catch. Diameter of cluster 12mm. The earrings are in a reasonable condition, there is a large conchoidal fracture to the one centre stone and slight abrasion to the diamonds, there are also a few minor scratches and dents from general wear and tear. The garnet topped doublets are a slice of red garnet to the table and blue glass to the pavillion, there are visible gas bubbles to the inside of the stone where the two are fused together.
