The inscription reads 'Presented to W Appleby by the Member of the Harwich Licensed Victuallers Association as a Slight Recognition of his Valuable and Many Services as Sec'y and Representative Jan'y 8th 1902'.

The pendant is stamped '15CT' and in our opinion would test as gold. The brooch is lacking its pin and is hallmarked for 9 carat gold but the marks are rubbed. The locket is indistinctly stamped to the loop and there are chips throughout, the garnets are closed set. Gross weight 14.0 grams. CR made 30.11.21.
