Artist: Mark LaceTitle: Yn MorSize: 22.5 x 27 x 11(h)cmMedium: Baulk & glassMark LaceBased in Falmouth, I'm largely a self-taught Fused Glass Artist, although I studied glass in Falmouth two years ago. At that time I explored the use of lanterns with fused glass inserts, so it's been a joy to rediscover my artistic side since high school in Dubai. Most recently I have started more ambitious projects like - Ty Mor. The fused glass ocean slab is made from up to a hundred intricately cut slivers of recycled glass. I am completely captivated by the Sea and absorbed by its power, whilst being totally mesmerised by the tranquillity some days later. Whether just for my own enjoyment or for private commission, I love to use my glass pieces to creatively capture a likeness whilst telling a story; the end result should be an accurate observation. In my glasswork, I also love to explore the unpredictable nature of glass - building up my glass pieces with complex patterns and curves hoping the glass will fall as desired . From time to time I vary my subject matter with a Cornish landscape or landmark; glass will remain my true obsession in one form or another. DISCLAIMER: The Porthleven baulk/harbour defence wood is made (on the whole) of Douglas Fir Pine.
