Two Sampson Mordan scent bottlesthe first with cobalt blue glass body, with white metal mounts stamped 'Mordan & Co, London', 11cm overall, the second with a facet cut green glass body, with dual-ended gilt metal mounts, the inside of one end stamped S. Mordan & Co, 11.5cm overall (2) Neither bottle has stoppers. Both with overall wear, marks and scratches. Very small blemish to the corner near the base of the blue bottle. Possibly during manufacture, does not feel sharp. Some scratches to the green example. Some clouding and marks to the interior.

A Chinese Imari-style 'klapmuts' bowl with pagodas, ex-coll. Augustus the Strong, KangxiH 8 - Dia.: 19,5 cm Provenance:- A French private collection.- The collection of Augustus the Strong, King of Poland and Elector of Saxony. These marks are referred to as Johanneum marks, inventory marks added to porcelain belonging to the collection of Augustus the Strong. The first inventory was made in 1721. The inventory numbers were painted in black, or cut through the glaze with a glass cutter's wheel and blackened. (as on our example) In some cases the numbers have only been drawn in ink and have by natural causes been washed away. The term 'Johanneum' was taken from the building in Dresden to which the royal collection was moved in 1875-76.
