§ Michael Rothenstein, RA (British, 1908-1993) Black Pony 1955 signed 'Michael Rothenstein' in pencil (lower right); numbered 4/50 lino-cut 43.50 x 56cm (17 x 22in) Some areas of black have mottled and discoloured with age - perhaps due to contact between the paper and glass. There are also some minor creases to the plate margin. Evidence of some very water damage to the left plate margin, which has led to the slight rippling of the paper. Otherwise, the original page has yellowed in a manner consistent with age, with some slight further browning in a consistent line bordering the printed image.
§ Edward Bawden, CBE, RA (British, 1903-1989) Brighton Pier signed and dated 'Edward Bawden 1958' in pencil (lower right); titled and numbered 22/40, artist's proof lino-cut 55.50 x 147cm (22 x 57in) Provenance: Whitechapel Gallery, London, 'Pictures For Schools', 1958 Off-centre top right there is a crease of approx. 2.5 inches. There is slight yellowing of the plate margin. In places the black portions of the print have taken on a smoky/mottled/matt effect, which could be a result of where the paper has been pressed against the glass at some stage - this is particularly evident towards the left of the image.
