A Victorian Richardson cased white over ruby flashed glass vase and cover c.1890, the tapered ovoid body, decorated with petal shaped panels decorated alternately with painted floral sprays on a white ground and strawberry diamond cut cased white panels, against a ruby flashed ground enriched with foliate gilding, seated on a collar and flared white cased over ruby petal cut pedestal base enriched with gilded scrollwork, the conforming domed cover with hexagonal finial, 15¼in. (23cm.) high, together with a Victorian cut glass water jug with strawberry diamond, prism and panel cut body and star cut pedestal base, 10½in. A fine early Victorian brass bound coromandel dressing table chest by Halstaff of London maker`s label inside lid, the fitted coromandel box with gilt brass line inlay and borders, rebated handles to sides, inlaid tulip heads to the inside corners, Bramah lock, lined with maroon leather and dark red velvet, containing twelve silver cut glass mounted bottles and boxes, six hallmarked George Reid, London 1842, the four cologne bottle caps hallmarked John Howes, London 1845, two caps unmarked, all engraved with foliate scrollwork, the upper tray with smaller removable fitted necessaire tray, above a removable gilt tooled leather dressing table tray and storage beneath with two secret drawers, stationary compartment and removable mirror inside lid, 14 x 9¾ x 6½in. A George IV brass bound rosewood travelling box with rounded corners and unengraved brass plaque to lid, Bramah lock, the fitted red leather and velvet interior with various compartments, letter holder to lid, removable trays, three cut glass bottles and two bottles with silver plated lids, 10¾ x 8in. (27.25 x 20.5cm.), lacks mirror, some damage to interior.
House of Commons cut glass decanter and a bottle of Kopke port presented to David Atkinson " in recognition of your work as Chairman and /President 1979-1996 from Christian Solidarity International" Formerly the property of David Atkinson MP (1940-2012) who was for 28 years (1977-2005) the Conservative MP for Bournemouth East. He was known for his involvement with Christian dissidents in the Soviet Union. A loyal conservative MP when Euro-sceptics tried to defeat John Major in 1993 over the Maastricht treaty, Atkinson came from his hospital bed to vote, still in his dressing gown. Sent in for sale by the family.
