Sheets of vintage cards were printed out after baseball rookie Hobbs became a star player for the New York Knights. This glossy Playball-style "Roy Hobbs" card is printed in full color on cardstock with blue borders and text. It comes mounted behind glass in a custom-made laser-cut mount boardfeaturing a movie still and the film title. The card and frame both exhibit minor edge wear. Wicklow and his second wife Margaret, daughter of Thomas Theaker. He matriculated at St. John's College, Cambridge, in 1771, becoming a scholar in 1773 and attaining his BA in 1775. He later became a fellow at Peterhouse where he gained his MA in 1778. His half-brothers, William and Edward, by his father's first wife, Lady Mary, daughter of John, 1st Earl of Darnley, also attended St John's College (matric. 1756 and 1759, respectively).Thomas Tighe was Vicar for the parishes of Drumballyroney and Drumgooland, Co. Down from 1778 until his death, later becoming Rector of Drumgooland in 1787. He also served as Chaplain to the Earl of Glandore. In 1786, he married Eliza, daughter of William Beers of Ballygowan, Co. Down. He is perhaps best known as being the mentor to Patrick Brontë, father of the famous Brontë sisters.Surface dirt under glass. A stain, approximately 3cm long, left of the sitter's head. The cut-out area of the sitter's shoulder - lower centre - appears a little worn so that the texture of the paper support is showing through. Not examined out of frame. Framed size 16.5 x 13.5cm.
