A Victorian silver plated 'Naperian' coffee maker, by William Padley & Son, Sheffield, circa 1850, number 704, comprising the globe with detachable top spout raised on a pair of columns with reeded bands above a removable spirit burner, and the open vessel into which the spout, with filter end, drops, both the vessel and the stand with beaded decoration, 30cm wide, 33cm high, 10cm deep Note- The vacuum siphon coffee brewer was the brainchild of Scottish naval engineer and inventor, James Napier and was developed in the 1840s. Ground coffee and boiling water were combined in the open topped vessel, and a small amount of water was placed in the globe. The water in the globe was heated by a spirit burner below turning the water to steam which was forced through the siphon tube to agitate the coffee and water mixture in the vessel. When all the water in the globe had converted to steam and the flame was extinguished, a vacuum formed which siphoned the brewed coffee though a filter and back into the globe, from which it was served. William Padley & Son were silversmiths in Sheffield and specialised in producing Napier coffee machines which were popular through to the beginning of the twentieth century.

The presence of two fish swimming in a pond on this mirror might suggest the idea of harmony and balance. In Chinese culture, fish are also believed to represent longevity and endurance, as they are able to swim upstream against the current. In ancient Chinese culture, mirrors held great significance. They played a crucial role in transportation, warfare, and diplomatic exchanges, serving as essential companions to the ruling elite. Moreover, horses hold a prominent place within the Chinese zodiac, representing key attributes such as strength, endurance, and perseverance. Unleash the spirit of adventure with this fully-restored 1965 Austin Mini Moke. The Mini Moke was designed by Sir Alec Issigonis at the same time as the Mini saloon, and used an identical engine, transmission and suspension parts. Although the pre-production prototype came out in 1959, full-scale production did not start until 1964. It may seem strange to design and build a vehicle with no clear idea what you are going to do with it, but this was BMC in the 1960s. It was initially mooted as a parachute-dropped utility vehicle for the British Army, but this notion failed at the first hurdle when they rejected it due to its low ground clearance. It was then decided that it would make an excellent tool for farmers and as a light commercial vehicle. This was partially scuppered yet again when it was rated as a passenger car and therefore subject to Purchase Tax. It did, however, gain a strong following and became a cult classic after featuring in the TV series, The Prisoner, and found its true role as a fun beach car at which it excelled. Some 14,500 Mokes were produced at BMC's Longbridge plant between 1964 and 1968 before production moved to Australia where a further 26,000 were made between 1966 and 1981. Another 10,000 were made in Portugal before production finally ceased in 1993.This early, UK-Supplied, right-hand drive Austin Mini Moke underwent a complete frame-off restoration, and was rebuilt to factory-specifications, retaining its original Mk1 features such as the single windscreen wiper and floor mounted headlight dip-switch. Finished in a shade of Spruce Green with black trim, it still has its original 850cc engine and 4-speed transmission, which has also been completely rebuilt.Superbly restored with no expense spared and very few miles since, it's supplied with a small history file and UK V5C. A British classic to enjoy with friends and family, always attracting the right attention and welcome at any classic car event or garden party. SpecificationMake: AUSTINModel: MINIYear: MINIChassis Number: AAB1659019Registration Number: GMB 681CTransmission: ManualEngine Number: BAG-FAU-H493 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 28811 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images
